Snap on the crap nights sleep. Is this insomnia kicking in? Happened the last 2 nights. Hope not.

37 days to go. Boy is it dragging. But start training my replacement today, so should start being a doddle soon

Pinktrappedwindjenny · 13/03/2007 09:38

Morning everyone

tyg - my mum is always telling me about how wonderful it was when I was born too - despite the fact that she was 19, newly married to my dad, had me five weeks early, and was in hospital for a month. Methinks 29 years may have distorted her memories a bit!

Lupins - loving the fact that you have already packed your bag. I've bought the most obnoxious bright pink holdall on wheels I could find. To be honest, I'm not really sure about packing the bag because, as a first timer, the contents alarm me. Disposable knickers, nipple shields, nursing bras. Nice. Just like packing for 2 weeks in Antigua. Not. I'm still not sold on this breast feeding malarkey. Dh is really laying on the guilt about it though. Just so he doesn't have to feed her.

No wonder I dreamt last night that I was engaged to Justin Timberlake. He gave me a million pounds for my birthday and was driving around in a blue ferrari that Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne had bought him. Strange. Do love Justin though. Dh said maybe it meant subconsciously he wasn't the perfect man for me. I said not to worry, the dream before was Delia Smith helping me make a potato gratin.

largeginandtonic · 13/03/2007 10:15

PMSL Pinkjenny, Antigua sounds lovely.....will you be wearing a little polka dot bikini too?

I too will have to pack a hospital bag this time, i have never done that! The twins came at 29 weeks so had not done it and all the others were home so didnt need to! May have to write a list, it just seems so early.

Hungry hungry.....what can i eat? Have already had a bowl of museli not feeling full though.

Creena · 13/03/2007 11:20

Morning all!

TYG - definitely sounds hormonal to me. As has been said already, it sounds as though you and DD have a lovely relationship and she sounds like a perfectly happy and content little girl. Hormones do have a habit of making you dwell on the negative and bring up things from the past that you can't change - I know I've done the same many times. You'll be absolutely fine and you'll get through this - just remember that DD loves you very much and you have a completely different relationship with her than you do with your mum.

Sleeping - I didn't do too well last night, either! Back ache has kicked in now to match the achey pelvis. I'm beginning to think that I sound like that Billy Ray Cyrus song; something or other is always achey-breaky! Mind you, posting about that actor chappie I like yesterday was good; I had a lovely dream about him.

Pebblemum · 13/03/2007 11:57

Morning all

I am in so much pain this morning,I woke at 7.30 with stabbing pains in my stomach, they arent even in just one place they seem to be all over. I dont feel sick or anything and they arent continuous, just really painful and annoying. I did get a couple in my back ealier too but that was probably something to do with the way i was sat lol

Its really annoying because dh has had to go into work today so im on my own with ds2. He is supposed to be going to pre-school at 1pm which would give me a break but at the same time if i keep him off at least i dont have to worry about taking him or picking him up.

Creena · 13/03/2007 12:04

Oh no pebble, you poor thing! I'd advise you to stay at home and rest if you can. It'll be perfectly fine for DS to miss one pre-school session. You wouldn't want to take him up there and then find yourself struggling later on when it's time to fetch him. Let DS entertain himself with some toys and stuff while you put your feet up with a nice drink and lots of pillows/cushions to support you. Would taking some paracetemol help at all, do you think?

Hope it eases off soon.

Pebblemum · 13/03/2007 12:22

DS2 has been great so far, the place looks like a bombs gone off with all the cars spread around the floor but he has been amusing himself, he even got himself dressed.

I had paracetamol earlier but it hasnt helped. I know it isnt anything ive eaten because apart from toast i havent had anything since 8pm last night. It is just driving me mad. My mum is texting every few minutes checking on me, making sure im not in labour

Im wondering if i have some sort of infection as i have had protein and blood in my urine for my last two anti natal visits. A sample was sent off but i havent had the results even though it was a few weeks ago. I expect they came back clear but ive been trying to get in touch with my midwife just to check. Its impossible though, all i can do is leave a pager message and wait for her to ring me back, if she does (it took me ages to get hold of her once)

I think ive suffered more with this pregnancy than any of the others, roll on May!!!

LupinsBigLump · 13/03/2007 12:44

LGT & PINK lol at your dreams

With dd I had the most vivd dream that I was going to be calling a taxi at 4am as I was in labour, it spooked me as it was so real - next day went and got everything i needed for hossi bag, within a week i was phoning a taxi at 4am cos i was in labour - actually didnt pack a back for baby just for me - dp had to go and spend a bloody fortune on emergancy baby kit for tiny babies in mothercare - even if i had packed her a bag everything would have swamped her anyway

I hardly slept at all, went to bed at 10.30 and couldnt sleep ended up watching a film with Kate Winslet in about some hormonal school girls, back was hurting hand was agony, got up got dd ready for preschool but got dp to take her as I am now in agony with my pancreas - have just got out of bed, been sick 3 times, just had milk, bikki and codeine and still am in pain, so everything hurts today and I wanted to get so much done, thought at one point I was having contractions, think they must have been BH's,

Enjoy the sunshine everyone, apparently it was 18 in london yesterday

LupinsBigLump · 13/03/2007 12:46

Pebble hope you are feeling a little better - sending you some feel good vibes xx

LupinsBigLump · 13/03/2007 13:25

AM just checked the Krispy Kreme website - it says coming to reading in May, suposse we can squeeze on a few extra calories before being good lol - might hav eto ask for hospital delivery

BefnalBub · 13/03/2007 18:13

Evening all! went for a bit of retail therapy today. quite amusing as i went to boots to start off my hospital bag. tried to buy 2 packs of maternity pads - the girl from the til then sent me off as there was a 3 for 2 offer. got back and then she scanned the cotton wool and it was also on offer so had to toddle off and get another one of thoes as well. now have heaps of boots bags at home and keep looking at them. am i mad?! on the plus side I got a couple of £5 make up vouchers, so bought myself a mini new hospital make up kit. felt more normal than buying all those horrendous pads. ugh. am going to hide them somewhere now.

twelveyeargap · 13/03/2007 18:38

Evening all. I have been working today. Also betting on Cheltenham. I'm Irish. It can't be helped. £80 up today. Not bad for a start.

Glad to hear that my mother is not the only mentallist. Not that I'd actually wish it on anyone, you understand.

Sorry about all the ailments ladies. If it helps at all, I'm waddling like a duck every time I get up from my desk. My hips and legs seem to seize up every time I sit for a long time and I get pains like hot knives up my whatsit. Lovely.

Evening All

Tis very quiet around here today, something I don't know about Not much to report this end, it's all very boring. My sister sent me a text earlier telling me she'd been glacier treking today in New Zealand, yeah yeah lol. Still only mildly jealous - ok a lot jealous! Sat stuffing my face full of maltesers at the mo to console myself. Needs must and all that

Some very strange dreams going on by the sounds of things, LG&T was not surprised to find you had the strangest!

TYG - you, work? What's that then?
Befnalbub - I've got a shed load of those boots maternity pads. Damn things take up so much space. Anyone know roughly how many you go through whilst in hospital?

And for anyone who doesn't watch prison break - you must! It's so good. I wasn't bothered at all by it but my flatmates made me watch an episode and I've been hooked ever since. And Wentworth Miller is just so tasty!

Don't know what to eat for tea tonight, not hungry really. Could be all the chocolate I've eaten Naughty baby making LW crave chocolate.........

scootermum · 13/03/2007 20:17

Evening all,
My new nephew arrived last night, 4 weeks early! They have called him Harry after my Grandad which is nice as my dd was named after nan so it keeps it in the family..
Only a 5 hour labour, and for a first baby it cant be bad eh?
They hadnt packed any hospital bags however so my SIL's Mum had to rush to Boots and Mothercare and buy a load of stuff and deliver it to the hospital! This has spurred me into action so am going to get all dd's clothes down at the weekend and wash the littlest ones ready and sort out the babys bags and mine-I know im only 29 weeks but better to be safe than sorry-I would freak if I had to go to the hospital without my bags-its a security thing..Plus would be insanely annoyed if I didnt have my all important lip balm with me at my hour of need..

Glad im not the only one suffering a bit now.My back is totally cricked permanently and I cant sleep either..Mae is proving to be a real wriggler and keeps me awake, and if its not her its the real Scooter trying to get in the bed, or dh and his F***g snoring which is driving me mental..I know im being unreasonable but at times I could quite honestly smother him with a pillow!

scootermum · 13/03/2007 20:23

Think I used about 5 a day for the first week or so lwatkins-take a whole box with you for the hospital I would..They are bulky though..
Also I can really reccomend net pants. They dont rustle like disposable paper ones and seem a bit of a better fit as they are stretchy.I think they are only about £4 off the NCT Sales website..well worth it.Plus they are washable so you can use them for your next baby too..(Also will be a great insight into your own old age when net pants will be all you wear to keep your incontinence pad in place!Yes the future that awaits us all!)

Lwatkins · 13/03/2007 20:46

Scoot - next baby? What do you meaan next baby? I've taken enough crap of this one to know I don't want a next, and I've not even been through labour yet which is supposed to be the worst freakin part lol! No LW is having one and one only, and I'm sticking to my guns. Don't get me wrong I love her to bits and it would be nice to have another but I can't do the whole pregnancy thing, shall we just say that in polite terms - me and pregnancy disagree with one another.....

Oh and have added a bump pic to my profile and also a pic of my future hubby to be, I can dream

LupinsBigLump · 14/03/2007 07:33

LW I swore blue I wouldnt have another - hmmm look what happens when you take away broadband for 2 weeks

I spent all but half hour in bed yesterday, only getting up to be sick, is still painful today , whole body feel bruised - if it is still bad tomorrow will go to docs

Looks like another lovely day, enjoy it everyone

aprilmeadow · 14/03/2007 07:49

Morning all,

Scoot - congrats on your nephew

LG&T - anymore weird dreams to report? Good news to hear that dh is on his way back for a bit. Lets hope, in the nicest possible way, that it takes a while to mend

Lupins - MAY thats still ages away.... [moan, whinge, stamps feet] why cant they open it NOW!

LW - maternity pads/bricks! I had 2 packs of them with ds and found them so uncomfortable mainly down to the size of them. My neighbour suggested buying sanitary towels instead. I bought Boots own brand in super with wings and night-time with wings and they did the trick just as well. They're 99p each or 2 for 1.50. They take up less space and are much cheaper. Infact i think that Morrisons had them for 89p. Dunno if thats any help at all, but just from my experience they were much more comfortable and also cheaper.

Going to finish my bag this weekend i think. I woke up the night before last having tightenings every 6 or so minutes. Was conviced/terrifeid that it was labour. Luckily just very strong BH's.

Hope you are all well and have a good day x

twelveyeargap · 14/03/2007 08:49

I don't know how I can remember this, but I used the "extra long/ nighttime" type sanitary towels, but I bought the super-thin ones with wings. They were great. I didn't feel like I was wearing a nappy at all.

My ill-gotten gambling gains didn't last long. I somehow managed to convince myself that I'd paid the pay and display car park up to 8pm last night and when I got back I realised I was only paid til 7pm. Stupid cow. £70 fine. Robbing b'stards. I'd paid £14 for the day already. Add that to the C-charge I need not have paid and it was probably the most expensive commute I have ever done. Gutted.

Congratulations on the nephew Scoot. I take it mother and baby are both ok, despite him being early?

Juicylucytoo · 14/03/2007 09:06

Have been thinking about starting the bag thing in case the home birth goes Pete Tong. I can do all the pad / cotton wool bits, but am not sure how much bigger I'm going to get, so can't buy nursing bra, night-shirt etc. Also not sure which of my array of babygros I should pre-wash. Thought I'd wait until a couple of weeks before to see if they can more or less tell if it's going to be "big" or not. Now fretting that I'm not ready at the same time as thinking "Oh I've got loads of time" I'm sure I'm not normally so dithery.

BB - How is your blood pressure?? BTW, have found a website where you can hire the funky slings to see if you get on with them - they do a special for 2, so maybe we could look at renting and trialing them together? Whadayathink?

TYG - Thanks lovely. Book and CD have arrived. Calm listening to commence tonight - I'll probably be in bed asleep by 7

Sorry everyone is getting aches and pains. Some of you sound like you're really suffering. Backache seems to be raising it's ugly head for me, but not badly yet, so counting my lucky stars.

daisy1969 · 14/03/2007 11:08

Hallo all. I've been a super-lurker for weeks and thought it might be a bit late to join in but hope you don't mind if I do. I'm expecting my first at the beginning of May and am now lounging around at home, trying to muster up the energy to get our house straight!

The only problem is that I've now got too much reading-the-whole-interweb time on my hands and have got myself into a complete state about something. Can any of you help?

I moved house and hospital in January just after all my 16 week bloods were taken. I contacted my midwives to let them know I was changing hospital which they were fine about, but as far as I know my file was never sent on to my new hospital. Although I'm now 32 weeks, I haven't had any other blood tests done but am sure I will at 34 for anaemia etc. My current source of uncontrollable anxiety is that I never got any results from the bloods, particularly the HIV etc ones. Would someone have contacted me if there were any problems?

I'm not quite sure why I'm so worked up about this now (except, of course, that I'm loony and 32 weeks pregnant) but haven't had much luck tracking down my file....

Many thanks and sorry for such a grim a) introduction post and b) question on such a beautiful day (well, in London anyway)

Daisy

BefnalBub · 14/03/2007 11:18

Hi Daisy, welcome! I would phone the hospital/surgery where you had your bloods done - they will have the results so at least you can be sure.

JL - don't know about BP yet - am going to see midwife on Friday. Am dreading it. was thinking about getting a monitor but they cost so much. I got myself a wilkinet sling off the internet in the end, but am more than happy to try out others as different ones seem to be good at different time iykwim.

twelveyeargap · 14/03/2007 11:42

Hi Daisy. I moved house and hospital too and also never received results from my original tests as I had only been for the booking appt - my other appts were with a GP. I copied my "book" of hospital notes and gave them to my new midwife. She wrote them into a new book for the Whittington and returned my others to UCH as they belong to my records from there. Once they get the book back, they take you off their bookings.

Midwife from the Whittington Hosp also took a whole new set of bloods at my first appt with her. They also did a new scan for their own records. I didn't hear anything back until I saw her recently and was told all was fine. AFAIK, the hospital call you if anything unusual comes up in the results. In fact, it said so in my old UCH notes.

You are allowed to call your old hospital and request they are either given to you or sent to your new GP. I don't think you should worry though. As I said, they alert the GP or midwife if anything comes up in your bloods.

HTH.

Creena · 14/03/2007 12:10

Hello everyone! What a lovely, sunny day it is today (in my neck of the woods, at least)!

Hello Daisy and welcome to the May ante natal thread! I had a bit of a mix up with my blood tests too and ended up having to have them done twice (once at the GP surgery and one at the hospital). I've never had any official notification of the test results either; I checked with my GP and he told me that I would only hear something further if there was a problem. They test so many women and most test results are normal; if they had to get back to everyone with their results, it would take forever. So, they only contact those that they need to. You could take it as 'no news is good news' but if you're really preoccupied with it, there's no harm in asking whoever did the tests for you.

I think I might pop out to the shops now. Looks like a lovely day for a bit of a walk and I think I might have the munchies today. God help me in the biscuit aisle!

scootermum · 14/03/2007 12:12

Hi Daisy,

Ive never heard anything back from my bloods results except when there has been a problem, ie my iron levels..so im sure they were all fine..but like the others said ring the old hosp to check?Or surely the new midwife will refer you for some more if you are really worried?Welcome on by the way...It is a lovely day in London town.If I wasnt snowed under, (clearly as im on here!) I owuld consider bunking the rest of the day and going to the park.

Ruddy hell TYG.£70!!
Have you been in that Sainsburys yet?Honestly it was so nice in there im thinking of detouring specially on my way home to cheer myself up!
New nephew was fine yes, 5 pounds five and no problems at all so he might be going home today..We might go up to Manchester and see them at the weekend as otherwise we are booked up till the end of April weekend wise, but we will see how tired they are by then..My brother said something about operating an open door policy..Like I said-we will see how tired they are!I was sick of all visitors by about the end of day 2 and just wanted to be asleep to be honest but I guess everyone is different..Im really pleased all was well though because they had to go through 3 rounds of IVF for the baby so its an extra happy ending.

LW-if you marry that bloke off of Prison Break he might want kids and I bet you'd oblige him then! That said Ive 'decided' two will be enough for me as well..If im on here this time next year on another antenatal thread you can all shoot me!

Someone came to look round our house yesterday and loved it but didnt like the bend it is on.Good Lord-I wouldnt call it a bend, more just a minor kink in the road, and anyway the only traffic on it is a tractor and a few gee-gees most of the time.I dont think we will ever sell it if people are that fussy!

gandt-have I missed something? Is DH injured?Or have you just worn the man out?!Will he still be injured till the baby comes?Hurrah if so, in the nicest possible way!
