beanturnipandspud · 27/02/2017 17:27

Asda shop turned up with my 9 cucumbers 😍😃😍 anybody else have major weird cravings?

Bean - pickled onion monster munch and anything chocolate
Turnip - ice cubes and pies
Spud - cucumber, cucumber and more cucumber 😍

mrspage1985 · 27/02/2017 17:38

I'm all about curry these days - can't get enough of it! X

MissMooMoo · 27/02/2017 17:43

teaspoon I don't but the headache has really gone down now.
In hindsight I think I may have a sinus infection, its a pressure headache that gets worse if I eg bend down.
I had a cold 2 weeks ago and everything apart from a snotty nose has gone. Yucky yellow snot still coming out (sorry for TMI)

I am seeing the midwife Sat morning so I will mention it regardless. If I still have it tomorrow morning I will ring the assesment unit and see if I can pop in and have my BP checked.

newbieho · 27/02/2017 17:45

I am swamped with salary review and work handover at the moment and can only start visiting nurseries in April. Hope they still have a place as I need to come back FT after mat leave Confused

As for cravings:
1st trimester: toasts with raspberry jam, fanta (I disliked carbonated sweet drinks before)
2nd trimester: clementines, oranges
3rd trimester: crunchy salads, pears, chocolate

MissMooMoo · 27/02/2017 17:46

Cravings for me are fruit! Pineapple mostly.
Started out as tinned but fresh is in season right now and so tasty!
I am also craving strawberries but they don't taste very good atm and I am always disappointed when I buy some so I have been trying to avoid!

I am finishing work at Easter and taking 2 weeks AL before maternity at 37 weeks.
I think that makes 6 weeks of work left.
Hoping my placenta has moved but if not the midwife said they will do a c section at 37 or 38 weeks so I think I will be happy to have had 2 weeks at home before that!

Tickyboovicki · 27/02/2017 18:04

Place marking!

Last full time week for me! Then I've used annual leave to book two 4 day weekends in march so I have 4 weeks with 5 days, then off in April. So exciting! Though I have so much to get done before I leave!

Tickyboovicki · 27/02/2017 18:05

4 weeks with 4 days I mean!

RasperryInAMelon · 27/02/2017 18:06

MrsPage I'd kill for a curry. It seems I've developed an intolerance to spicy food 😩

Hadn't really thought about my cravings... but...
1st Trimester - Apples and peach yoghurts
2nd Trimester - Hot Water and Onion Rings
3rd Trimester - chocolate, cereal and Jaffa cakes

MissMooMoo · 27/02/2017 18:14

raspberry I can't seem to eat any spicy food anymore either.
DH and I both love quite hot spicy food so he is finding it strange. I have gone from madras or vindaloo to having a korma from the indian!

Just realised that Ramadan starts in May this year. We have a mosque just down the street from us and we get tons of food from them and neighbours every evening....this will come in handy with a small baby!

Place marking

yellowismyfavourite · 27/02/2017 18:38

I started emailing nurseries this week, but visiting will have to wait until maternity leave in April. I think waiting lists for most popular are about 9 months.
Babys movement has been really confusing over the last few days, I think he/she (hate saying it!) is really low today cos I am aching even more than normal and he/she is really going for my bladder! I also am finding it difficult to track movement as it's happening behind the placenta. I can feel enough to know it's all ok... but it was really painful over night with period like cramps too... feeling tired today as been awake since 3!
Really need to think about hospital bag at the weekend! It's on the very massive to do list!

PeachIcedT · 27/02/2017 19:12

Bean your Asda delivery made me laugh, if I was the driver is presume you'd miss ordered!

My only cravings are various fruits - at the moment it is fresh pineapple which is a concern as I believe that's what you are encouraged to eat if trying to start labour?!

MissMooMoo I occasionally forget about my low placenta and that potentially I may need a c section but am really crossing fingers it moves up.

Baby feels like she's doing side slams into my belly this evening. Ouch.

In good news though I finally made the effort of going to Bravissimo - cannot recommend highly enough, they dedicate so much time to fitting you correctly. She laughed at me wearing a 38C courtesy of M&S advice (which you could stretch back an unreasonable amount) and sorted me a much better 32F. Finally I may be able to stop adjusting every 5 minutes.

MissMooMoo · 27/02/2017 19:28

peach I am also eating a ton of pineapple. MW said the bit that encourages labour is in the core and not to worry. She said its mainly an old wives tale and you would need to eat a ton of pineapples for it to make any diff.

ClaireSunflower · 27/02/2017 19:30

Thanks for the heads up about the new thread savage Smile this thread moves so quickly! The next scan is 27th March to see if the placenta has moved so fingers crossed it will have!

MissMooMoo · 27/02/2017 19:30

Just realised I used the word ton to describe my own intake and the amount needed to start labour Grin
You should be fine eating pineapple!

EsmesBees · 27/02/2017 19:36

I heard the pineapple thing is an old wife's take too. Didn't stop me eating loads of it when I was overdue with DD.

Teaspoon74 · 27/02/2017 19:41

No massive cravings but I am really enjoying big juicy red cherries (M&S ones are the best by far!) plus curry, pickled garlic bulbs and, of course, beefy monster munch. Oh, and bitter lemon.

PeachIcedT · 27/02/2017 19:44

That's good to know MissMooMoo, so far no cravings for the core! I just bought pineapple chunks in juice, it's just not hitting the craving for proper fresh pineapple, I knew I shouldn't have listened to DH when he suggested it Sad

Badgerbird · 27/02/2017 19:46

Hope you rested up today cinnamon & mcbaby and are feeling a bit better.

(Don't hate me) I'm another one who is rather enjoying this pregnancy lark. However I'm lucky not to be suffering as some of you are.... yet! Of course I'm quite tired, uncomfortable and cannot remember the last time I slept well ConfusedI Love not having to hold tummy in and revelling in getting a belly, especially when I feel the little rumbles of my daughter Smile

Cravings: still fruit here too! Mainly very cold crispy braeburns, oranges, satsumas, fresh pineapple. Yummo!!

FoxMulder · 27/02/2017 19:49

I'm working until 38 weeks. I'll need a section too if placenta doesn't move but it never occurred to me that they would want to do it that early. But it will move. Definitely Grin

Re snacks for labour, I kept being sick so needless to say I wasn't eating! Then had a Sunday roast courtesy of the NHS. Then home for dinner!

PeachIcedT · 27/02/2017 19:55

Good luck for the rescan Claire, mine is in 2 weeks time. I'm trying to remain positive it will have moved. Also, sounds like we live close by!

growcookeat · 27/02/2017 20:07

Hello new thread!

Totally off spicy food here too - actually ordered a korma at the weekend which I've never done before! Craving clementines and citrus fruits - DH thinks I'm weird for sucking lemons. Also cannot stop eating biscuits, particularly shortbread ones. Don't know what that's about.

Picked up lots of big pants and a couple of button nighties today from primark. They also had plenty of vest tops with hidden support which I thought would be useful for BF.

Any advice on when to get measured for a nursing bra? Is there any point doing it before birth or will there be lots of growth/change after milk comes in?

PeachIcedT · 27/02/2017 20:10

Just today at Bravissimo they advised to come in 3 weeks before due date or as close as possible to be fitted for nursing bra grow.

beanturnipandspud · 27/02/2017 20:16

grow personally I would wait for nursing bras. I used my maternity bra and vests for the first week after bean. When I was measured i was an E cup. Pre pregnancy i am an A cup. I'm currently a C-D cup in my maternity bras (mothercare measured)

Having lots of braxton hicks today, I've rung triage and they want to see me at 10pm! Bleurgh! I'm hoping they calm down. They're completely painless but with history of incompetent cervix they want to check that the tightenings aren't doing anything.

Also, names! Have you all got your names sorted? Me and DH are still disagreeing. We had girls names from the beginning but struggling with boys. So we found out the gender and obviously we are having a boy.

So bean and turnip both have 4 letter names and slightly unusual ( or they were unusual when we decided on their names) and now we feel like spud also needs a 4 letter unusual name! Our shortlist so far is:

Ezra
Coby
Cole
Arlo

Any thoughts? X
