Thought I would get there 1st!!!

Zooming in - almost finished housework and feeling less stressed out - poor DH, he came home to a very wound-up mummy when he got home for lunch - after almost driving into a wall on my way back from dropping him off at work (!!!!) and doing lots of cleaning and hoovering, I must say I am feeling better! Still got lots to do though .....

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom ........

ARGH - Can't remember anything anyone said, apart from MrsGV getting the wrong end of the stick ..... LOL!

Hope everyone else is ok!!

caught stephen out over the weekend, he's been coming on MumsNet, i quote "to see what all the fuss is about"

we were talking about it and he refered to SOSPL by the un-abbreviated version of her name, something i never do, and CD as CaptainDippy when i usually just call her Dippy!

haha, found out

YvieE · 26/02/2007 22:39

EllieK ROFL re: Stephen coming onto MN..LOL...LOL

Hi all

Welcome hellcat
Happy birthday twinkle - hope you had a fab day
BB - I've put on 2 1/2 stone, must all be in my backside though because i don't have a very big bump.
Char-How's the pain?
GMM - Welcome back
CD - Glad to hear the party went well
MIABT - Congrats on Phil's new job
WO - I thought paternity leave could only start after the baby was born? One of my staff member's baby booked his paternity leave in advanced, however his wife was overdue by 1 1/2 weeks and I didn't let him start his PL until the baby was born.
Well it's all starting to feel a bit real
Ordered a cotbed and cot top changer from nursery and toys - current status is backordered whatever that means - hopefully it means it will get here before the LO arrives
Got a maternity support belt from the physio today hopefully to alleviate the pain in my pelvic region - does anyone have one of these and are they any good?
Went for my first NHS antenatal class, had a tour of the delivery suite...whilst a lady was screaming her head off...what have i let myself in for??????

WestCountryLass · 26/02/2007 22:41

Runnyhabbit, not slating Maxicosi's, just that I was sold one when they are not compatible with the make and model of my car.

WestCountryLass · 26/02/2007 22:46

Fruitshoots

Oh to be a first time Mum DD had one today with a slab of choccy cake at the zoo, loved it

Birdiebump · 26/02/2007 22:56

I never thought twice about Fruitshoots till MN! Mind you they're still only a very occasional treat. According to that "Truth About Food" programme on BBC2 there's no such thing as children hyped up because of sugar anyway .....

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 26/02/2007 23:13

off to bed now, night all x

weeonion · 27/02/2007 06:09

good morning folks- or should i say bleurghhhhhhhh. got up at 4.30 - struggled to resist snozze button, heaved this hefty arse out of bed, showered etc and went out into the day. got soaked and i mean soaked. boots squelching by the time i reached the end of the path. trudged for bus, sprayed by passing cars twice, buses delayed because of rain, had to stand on journey into town, trudged through centre only to find that coaches to eburgh are delayed because f rain. burst into tears in soaking wet clothes and have come home. just couldnt face delayed jounrey in wet clothes, to sit all day in them and do the same return journey. rang work answering machine, wept into it and now am home with warm pjs, mug of coffee and my cat. what ever happened to hard nosed invincible WO? oh yeah - pregnancy.....

chacha3 · 27/02/2007 06:21

morning! dreading going out as well same weather here in wales and in an hour or so gotta do the school run

weeonion · 27/02/2007 06:22

isnt it all a bit easier when its dry??

chacha3 · 27/02/2007 06:28

so much better! roll on the summer! when you can go out without looking like a marshmallow! it takes me an hour to get all my girls coats on and get out the door!

liath · 27/02/2007 07:54

Don't blame you WO, it really is vile here today.

Off to stay with my sister for a couple of days & get dd used to having a small baby around!

Birdiebump · 27/02/2007 08:45

Good morning everyone.

WO - how daft are you going out in the first place???!! And what do you mean you had to STAND on your journey into town - you don't have to wait to be offered a seat you know - just eyeball a likely victim and ask "Do you mind if I sit down??!!" What a horrible commute that sounds and I am glad you are safely home in your PJ's.

I am thinking I too have temporarily turned into Superwoman - was up until 12.30 last night, at first resisting and then yielding to the temptation of a little baby cardigan with roses on and matching hat and 3 feeding bras (joy!) from Blooming Marvellous. Figure I can return the bras if they are not right but I better have something ready to go. Then went to bed, the usual awful night's sleep waking up every hour or so and here I am in work feeling fine - most awake person in the house this morning (apart from DS2 - dry again!). Mind you, my "commute" involves a one-minute drive up the hill cos' my spd is absolutely killing me at the moment.

weeonion · 27/02/2007 08:49

ta birdiebump and liath. god i sounded like a right moaning minnie inthat message. didnt mean to. out of pjs and in "real" clothes now!

liath - have a great few days away. hope DD enjoys a tiny cousin to oogle... (as do you!)

birdie - great news on another dry night..

geordiemacminx · 27/02/2007 09:43

Ooooo you appear to have killed the thread!!!

weeonion · 27/02/2007 09:46

Morning

Welcome to Hellcat

Thankyou for all book comments I raided amazon at the weekend (including yours bugmum ) so just waiting to mug the postman.
Thankyou for your kind offer Cd much appreciated.

LOl at Stephen lurking on MN Ellie

Weeonion what a nightmare with the paternal leave/brother thing, like you haven't got enough on at the moment silly man. Any resolution from him? Your commute is also horrendous and I dont know how you do it. Roll on your materninty leave

So jealous of all these dry nights sospl and Birdiebump still cant bring myself to start toilet training ds.

Loved the photo GMM you lucky thing!

Congratualtions on Phils new job MIABT - what fantastic news.

How are you feeling today Char?

Have a good few days with your sister and children Liath.

We had a car seat incident with an incorrectly fitted seat. One store sold and fitted it. Another store were horrified and removed and disposed of it! Its hard to know who to believe sometimes, afterall all we want is out lo's to be safe in the car.

Well dd is improving but very slowly. She was poorly all day on her birthday and didn't even manage a slice of cake. Glad that I postponed her treat and that she has that to look forward to next weekend.

Hellcat · 27/02/2007 10:05

Morning everyone,

weeonion, your commute sounds hideous - I moan about my bus ride but don't have to do any trudging... when do you get out of work?? - its my last day tomorrow - yay!

7 weeks/OMGHSAO: superb new name!

Seeing all the car seat stuff, don't be appalled but I've got a Jané auto carry cot because I have some mega long journeys planned and I want the LO to be lying down flat, although I have heard that this is not as safe in an accident.

However, I do have a maxi-cosi bucket seat for every day, kindly donated by my posh B and S IL who I have cunningly managed to follow in giving birth by six months!
So I have tons of organic cotton baby clothes and haven't bought anything, hooray!

Hi Katy44, Jessops has been all done up in the last couple of years, and has built in pools and stuff now - looking forward to 'stork walk' and hope there is a bit of screaming to intimidate dh who is way too confident having 'seen birth on TV'... ehehehe

Eca, what is your PHD in? I won't ask about the Norfolk thing,

Maveta and Claricebean, we spent nearly 3 years living in upcountry Almeria, running a B&B - which was very hard work, and we couldn't get anything to function properly...hot water challenges when you've got 10 adults in the house eating a three course dinner is the last thing you need - plus there was only only a trickle of electricity. It was pretty and peaceful though, and our Spanish neighbours were lovely and saved our asses many a time. Oh, plus it snowed both winters we were there and we coudln't afford to insulate the roof and put in central heating - it was 5 degrees in my bedroom for about 3 months.

Anyone who dreams of running a B&B in Andalucia, I can talk you out of it in no time!

Ironically we thought it would be a great place to have kids, but it was "hang on, I haven't had time to stop for that cup of tea I fancied 3 days ago, how on earth would I manage a baby?" Plus there were a few mosquitos, and I could deal with slathering myself in repellent - but didn't fancy having to net my children.

OMGhaveswallowedanoctopus · 27/02/2007 10:30

Morning everyone

Am home alone again - bliss!

We have always had our seats fitted at a local nursery shop - but haven't had them checked with car changes...! When Ernie grws out of the infant seat I will be getting an isofix one for 9 months - age 4.

Birdie - my hubbie saw that programme too - am a bit dubious about it as mine do go a bit hyper on certain foods.

I give my kids fruitshoots occasionally - they don't normally drink squash and never fizzy drinks so not bothered about it really.

Must go do somthing productive with my time!

OMGhaveswallowedanoctopus · 27/02/2007 10:36

Unsure about the nappies on ebay thing - there are loads still on strange that some people have had them removed and not others - surely they would just delete the whole section.

weeonion · 27/02/2007 10:37

morning flump and octopussy!

gmm - no email came through to me - hmmmm
L dot thompson773 at ntlworld dot com

OMGhaveswallowedanoctopus · 27/02/2007 10:40

The ebay thing is about adult diapers - weirdo thing that has always made me cringe - so hoorah for ebay! Can happily keep buyng nappies that don't really need but want anyway

OMGhaveswallowedanoctopus · 27/02/2007 10:40

Morning WO - but must go - need to be more productive with my time!

geordiemacminx · 27/02/2007 10:42

Yep thats where I sent it - tried it again mind, I'm probably in your spam folder!!

nuttygirl · 27/02/2007 10:54

Morning all,

We've got the M&P primo viaggio car seat cos it attaches to the pram we've bought. They checked it would fit in our car but I've just thought I never even considered it when we bought our new car .

My parents are coming down this evening and staying til tomorrow. Not sure I can be bothered with them tbh but will have to manage.

SOSPL - Can I pick your HR brain? I know that pg women are entitled to time off for AN classes but does this also apply to their DHs? I only ask because we didn't think it did so DH has been making his hours up at work for the time he's missed for classes. There's another guy at his work whos wife is pg and he said to DH that it was great they get to go to AN classes and not make the hours up. I think he's wrong. Don't want DH to assume it's ok not to make the time up and get into trouble. TIA.
