I just got my screening results, high risk at 1:132. Cried at the nurse when I called, who was lovely, and she is going to book me in for an Amnio next week, fast track results back in 2-3 days. We can't afford the harmony test so have to take the risk, which is so hard to accept.

crunchy I'm so glad you were able to get the harmony test so quickly.

Sophia1984 · 17/02/2016 14:42

So sorry to hear that lily Remember that is so close to the high/low risk border and still very low odds.

quitecrunchy · 17/02/2016 18:01

Oh lily, I'm sorry. Sending you hugs, it's just horrible to get the news. It seems so unfair that the process differs between different health boards as well. Hope they get you booked in for the amnio early next week so you're not kept waiting. At least then you'll be able to get your definitive result back quickly and get back to being excited rather than worried. When it's old enough you must give this child hell for putting you through so much in your first trimester!

stranded and elle thanks, that's great to know it can be a lot sooner. I think it is a UK lab so hoping it won't take too much longer than yours did.

I'm really looking forward to the 'glow' phase too stranded. Just feeling a bit less tired and greasy would help! Smile

lilygirl81 · 17/02/2016 20:30

I just had a call from my parents, they are paying for us to have the harmony test rather than risk the Amnio. I am utterly overwhelmed, and so grateful I can barely express it! Will call tomorrow and see when I can get booked in

Christinedonna · 17/02/2016 21:15

Bless them! So happy for you lily. I'm sure everything will be absolutely fine and you can put your mind at rest

quitecrunchy · 17/02/2016 21:20

That's brilliant news lily! One less thing to worry about now Smile

lilygirl81 · 17/02/2016 21:48

I can't help but feel how unfair the system is at the moment, unless you can afford private tests, you have to risk a potentially healthy baby to get an answer, same with the meningitis vaccine when they are little. I'm so glad I can get the harmony test, but feel guilty about all those people who don't have the option.

Clarab0w · 17/02/2016 22:49

lily so happy for you. You're right, it's mad that it's such a lottery and terrible to face such tough choices when others don't have to - but just thrilled you can get the Harmony instead. Best present your parents could give you - and their grand baby!

Jw35 · 18/02/2016 04:34

That's great Lily!
Heartburn has started. Also getting up in the night to pee!

Sophia1984 · 18/02/2016 10:33

Oh the peeing is driving me mad Jw35! All day and all night!

ToElleWithIt · 18/02/2016 11:03

That's so nice of your parents lily

Urrggg getting up to pee all the time here. I thought that this didn't start until later?

quitecrunchy · 18/02/2016 12:47

Lily you're right, it's not fair at all. The midwife I saw yesterday said that NHS Tayside are the only/one of very few in Scotland that offer NIPT for free. Apparently they are talking about bringing it in across the board in Eng & Wales but not in the rest of Scotland yet. Interestingly she was saying that it saves money too as fewer amnios have to be done so it might actually be more cost effective as well as better in terms of clinical outcomes. Hopefully soon they'll all catch up.

bearhuggy · 18/02/2016 13:23

lily sorry to hear about your screening results and the worry you are going through, really has been a rollercoaster few months for you. Amazing you are able to get the Harmony test, what kind parents. Hoping you will get great results to put your mind at ease. Are you able to get booked in this week?

Whats the deal with Meningitis...do you have to pay for baby to be vaccinated or is it just for older children who didn't get the vaccination when they were little? Some terrible stories in the news of poor babies suffering with it, horrible thing.

the peeing is ridiculous isn't it!! I feel like baby is just sitting directly on my bladder at all times and so much pressure down there. Hope it will get better as it starts to grow and take up space elsewhere?!?!

anyone feeling kicks yet? Nothing my end at 16 + 6 so wondering how everyone else is doing...!

MrsSantaClause · 18/02/2016 15:04

Bear I just thought I felt a very tiny flip, but it was so quick I'm not sure if I imagined it-can't wait for the proper kicking to start!

I had to get up in the night to wee more in the 1st trimester but it has eased off a bit now depending on how much I drink in the evenings. I suppose the baby has moved up a bit, but I'm sure I'll need to start again once i get bigger!

TwistInMySobriety · 18/02/2016 15:12

I've been feeling wriggles for a few days (16+ 5 today) but this is baby number 2 for me, I think with DS I didn't feel him until week 20 or 22 or so.

Christinedonna · 18/02/2016 15:30

Doppler turned up today! Took forever but found the little wriggler a few times. It's so odd that I had imagined it being in the middle but it's to my right

Mslg · 18/02/2016 15:49

I haven't felt a thing! Only 15+5 here though, too early.

I still haven't told my boss I'm pregnant and I'm so nervous about telling him. I'm afraid of being discriminated against or they'll treat me differently. In terms of projects they give me/possible promotion I mean and they'll put me on the scrap heap workwise because I'll be leaving at the end of July anyway. please tell me I'm being ridiculous Sad

lilygirl81 · 18/02/2016 16:52

bear we will get the meningitis vaccine, but it only became standard in September, so if your child is too old you need to pay.

I'm booked in for my harmony on Saturday, unfortunately DH is away all day, so my mum is coming with me.

I've not felt anything yet, I think 18 weeks is normal for your first, though my sister didn't feel her's until about 22 weeks because of where the placenta was.

I think I'm going to have to go back to the doctor tomorrow, meant to go back to work on Monday, but my bowel issues just will not resolve and giving me awful stomach pains, and now I have it on my back and upper chest. Really want to get back, but feeling miserable (although not really nauseous thankfully)

Msl I hope your work are reasonable, but I completely understand your worries.

christine glad you found the heartbeat, must be great to hear

16+6

bearhuggy · 18/02/2016 17:29

Thats good that we get the vaccine lily, shame about older children, the NHS should cover all as its such horrible illness. Great you have your Harmony booked, good luck and will be thinking of you on Sat.

At least your sickness has finally stopped, yey! Sure your doctor will asses whether or not best for you to be back at work and the next steps. You've been off for such a while I am sure it will be nice to finally get back into the routine. Hope all goes well.

Christine it's so great to hear the heartbeat isn't it!! Mine is also more to my right, although it's been moving around a bit this week. In the morning its hard as a rock and really obviously where it's sitting so I can find it on the doppler really easy now with very little pressure. Best £25 I have spent !!

ms try not to worry, you have every right to be pregnant and they should not treat you any differently. If you think it might cause issue then make sure you have everything well documented and in writing from the outset incase you need to seek help.

Jw35 · 18/02/2016 18:11

Good news on the back of bad news! My other brother also wasn't a match for my sister BUT she has 2 10/10 donor matches! Smile the hospital are contacting the donors to check they are still available to donate and hopefully she can get well!!! Smile

16+5 and heartburn after most food! What's anyone taking for it? Felt baby move again today! I'm home now from trip to Wales and will be trying my Doppler again tonight!

TwistInMySobriety · 18/02/2016 18:53

Gaviscon is your new best friend jw Smile

TwistInMySobriety · 18/02/2016 18:54

^^ duh sorry and of course woo-hoo for your sister, great news!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 18/02/2016 18:55

crunchy and lily sorry to hear about your worrying news, hope you get results back quickly! lily how fab of your parents, and crunchy it sounds like you're being well looked after. The odds are still in both your favour that everything is absolutely fine.

All good here, loving half term, making the most of having my best girl around! I'm dreading her going to school in sept, I'm going to miss her so much 😢
Proper little bump here, although most of it is just my fat bits that have been pushed upwards rather than actual baby - fundus is still miles below my belly button and the top of the bump is very squashy!
Lots of movement and wriggles now, have felt them for a couple of weeks but they've been soooo clear this week. Still don't feel them when I'm up and busy, just when I'm sitting/lying down and focusing on them a bit more, but they're unmistakable. I'm a tummy sleeper and baby goes crazy when I go to bed! Sure I just felt a little wiggle from the outside as well, can't wait for DH and DD to feel! I was about 18/19 weeks with DD when first felt movement I think so not far off that now. Time is going so fast!

16+6

Oh and jw that's brilliant news! Everything crossed for you all, hopefully soon your sister will be on the other side of the scary bit and looking to recovery.

Sorry to hear that some screening results have been concerning, hope you guys get reassurance soon. It's impossible not to worry in these situations, so I hope you know more as soon as possible.

I too can feel the baby, I'm sure of it. I'm only 14 weeks but it definitely feels like movements, this is my 3rd so maybe that's why? I'm really obviously pg now, having to spread the word somewhat. Screening results came back fine today, so I guess it's OK for everyone to know. Just feels weird once the information is out there, feels out of my control now somehow.

I've started knitting a blanket for the baby, hopefully 6 months will be long enough for me to finish it!
