Owl I've got a list as long as my arm of things I want to knit-I'm about halfway through a blanket now, so hopefully will get time to make some other things too Smile

Mrs1986 · 19/02/2016 08:23

Morning all, I had my 16 week scan and have found out that we are having two boys! I honestly never imagined myself without a daughter, but it's certainly starting to sink in now and I just can't wait! Now to think of names!!

bearhuggy · 19/02/2016 10:13

Congrats Mrs ! That's such exciting news. Do you know if they are identical? At least you have lots of time to plan and get ready for the arrival of two little lads :) Any new scan pics??

Mega headaches today, anyone else? Could be the disjointed sleep patterns catching up on me. So happy its Friday !!!

Christinedonna · 19/02/2016 12:14

Congratulations mrs. I'm sure you'll have your hands full there! Although two girls would have been a nightmare at the same time!

I've been off work for a week now, (3 shifts) and just feel awful. I'm supposed to go in at 7:30 this evening but the thought of it is just too much. I'm so exhausted and constantly throwing up, I've had a headache for about a week and I just really don't seem to be bouncing back from anything. My manager has said that he understands and has been really supportive but I hear that the other members of staff aren't very happy and have been slating me a bit. I don't want to take the mick and honestly if I felt up to it I would be working as much as possible to save but I just don't. I've booked an appointment for 5:30 this afternoon as acid reflux, indigestion, nausea, fatigue and a pounding head are a bit too much for me to take at once, aswell as my raging hormones. I wondered if anyone knows about being signed off? I don't want to ask the doctor and him think I'm taking the piss but I also don't want to not mention it and him think that's not what I want. Also it's not my GP I've managed to get an appointment with, just another one at the surgery..would he be able to sign me off or does it have to be my doctor? I just want a break to look after myself and not have work ask if I'm coming back or tell me I need to get myself sorted.

lilygirl81 · 19/02/2016 13:40

How exciting mrs. I'm hoping to find out at my harmony test tomorrow.

christine the doctor should be sympathetic to getting signed off, I'm now off for another 2 weeks (12 weeks in total now, so I can't see why it would be an issue for you.

The GP thinks I just have a bug of some sort, was up all night with terrible cramps and urgent toilet visits, then on the way home from my appointment I had to stop to be sick, I've not actually vomited in about 3 weeks so not a welcome return. I can barely stomach water so dehydrated and ketones on their way back up. Hopefully it will pass quickly.

Mrs1986 · 19/02/2016 14:56

Thanks ladies!
No, they're not identical. They have their own sacs.
Some new photos attached X

Christinedonna · 19/02/2016 14:57

mrs how amazing! Congratulations. Twin 1 looks like he's thinking very hard in the last picture

bearhuggy · 19/02/2016 16:26

how amazing mrs !! such great scan pics. They both have very similar little profiles!

OwlinaTree · 19/02/2016 17:50

Great pics Mrs, very clear. 2 boys, what fun!

Christinedonna · 19/02/2016 19:26

Got given gaviscon and something else for acid reflux and everything..but apparently they don't sign people off for pregnancy as its not a disease

lilygirl81 · 19/02/2016 19:41

Christine can you see another GP, you know how you feel and if you say you can't work they should listen!

Christinedonna · 19/02/2016 19:47

Il try and get another appointment tomorrow

quitecrunchy · 19/02/2016 19:55

Jw that's fantastic news! Hope all is going well and the op can happen really soon!

Great scan pics Mrs, your two boys look lovely. Twin 1 does look very intellectual for a baby, makes me think of Rodin's 'The Thinker'.

Sorry you're feeling so rotten christine and lily, definitely try another GP christine, you don't sound in very good shape to be at work if you're constantly vomiting. If you time it well maybe you can puke on the doctor, that might convince them!

Christinedonna · 19/02/2016 20:11

Oh god I couldn't do that even to get time off. The shame!

LotsofDots · 19/02/2016 20:41

That's great news about the donors for your sister jw I hope they are still both available and things can progress quickly.

I'm definitely feeling movements now at 16+2. Some compensation for the headaches and tiredness I guess!

I'll have to do some knitting at some point, I did heaps for DD1 and some for DD2 but didn't finish the blankets (multiple, I started at least 3) I started for her as my SIL produced a beautiful one and I decided the pattern I was doing was boring. I also made an enormous intarsia one for my niece who was born the same week and I kind of got knitting fatigue! She still hasn't forgiven me for not making her a blanket like her big sister...

Christinedonna · 19/02/2016 21:23

I am fuming! I've just got the gaviscon bottle I was prescribed out, to see that on the side it says "opened 28/7/15" and its half gone! Not only is that so frustrating that they're now wasting my time by making me go back tomorrow to change it, the shelf life on a bottle is 6 months. It's been open 7! I showed her my maternity excemption card, she knows I'm a pregnant woman and she can't take the care to look at the bottle?! I noticed it within seconds? It's her job and my health and i am reeling!

squigglepants · 19/02/2016 21:50

crunchy I had my 12 week scan and bloods last Thursday so expecting results anytime now. I was told extreme sickness can skew the results so maybe that has impacted yours and Lily too. To be honest it will be more of a shock if I am not high risk than the other way.
Fingers crossed for your sister jw
lots you just made me realise I need to start looking for a pattern for a blanket as my other two both have funky ones I crocheted
Christine I would make a formal complaint about that if I were you! Shocking.

strandedabroad · 20/02/2016 00:26

jw that's such good news. I hope they can get hold of those donors super-quick!

christine that's outrageous. Pregnancy isn't an illness but the symptoms you're experiencing are. I was only really ill a handful of times and luckily it was over the Christmas break, but I could barely lift my head from the pillow, let alone leave the house and go to WORK! Also as you mention shift work, it's probably not an easy desk job that awaits you. I would go back and complain and ask to speak to a different doctor. Hang in there!

Wish me luck for this weekend! We have friends staying and going out for a fairly formal event tomorrow night. Unfortunately nobody knows yet (we need to tell DH's extended family first - that's next weekend!), so I'm literally having to suck in my mini-bump. I hope you will agree that the dress I chose for tomorrow is pretty forgiving (photo 1) and a huge difference from how I look in my maternity top (admittedly that is baggy and makes me look bigger). Both photos taken this evening!

15+4

OwlinaTree · 20/02/2016 07:55

The dress is fab stranded. Hope you have a good weekend. Do you think you will pull off none of your friends guessing? Mine would guess with the no boozing i think!

strandedabroad · 20/02/2016 09:09

Thanks Owlina. I'm not a huge drinker and I've offered to drive (I've done that for years so it shouldn't attract attention). I'll pretend to have 1-2 small rum and Cokes over the course of the evening (DH has become an expert at asking for a Coke with lime and a straw while I distract the others Grin). I don't doubt that someone might suspect, I'll have to live with that! Smile

My MIL (whom we told a few weeks ago) told me that my SIL noticed me swapping a glass of wine with water at Christmas and she's been gossiping ever since (SIL, not MIL. MIL is lovely). Again I was driving and quite openly sticking to soft drinks after my token (fake) drink but she got it in her head I was pregnant. She has 2 small DCs herself so probably recognised my green face and my frequent loo trips. That's why it was so amazing telling my family - they had absolutely no idea as I hadn't seen them in months! Smile

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Jw35 · 20/02/2016 10:16

Congrats Mrs! So exciting! I'm really hoping for a boy, I've got 2 girls.
Thanks for all the well wishes for my sister Smile
I've got a stomach bug! Ugh! Thursday night I threw up every half an hour from 8pm-4.30am! Slept all day yesterday and last night! Not so bad today but really weak and dizzy. Hope it doesn't effect the baby?
Need to make my 16 week appointment, I'm 17 weeks today but was away last week. Gutted I can't get baby's heartbeat on the Doppler!
Felt movement Thursday but starting to doubt myself now!
Anyone heard heartbeat at 16 week appointment? It's another 4 weeks until my scan Sad

lilygirl81 · 20/02/2016 10:47

Jw poor thing with the bug, take it as easy as you can.

For the first time in ages, I got to sleep before 4am, got woken by DH whacking me on my bad leg at 3...I was not impressed, couldn't get back to sleep and ended up in a bath at 4 as my muscles were so sore.

Just about to pick my mum up, got my harmony test at 4:30 so having a day together.

Christinedonna · 20/02/2016 10:48

jw I wasn't played the heartbeat at my 12 week scan. The woman was heavily pregnant and seemed like she was being kicked a lot as she kept holding her tummy and looking very uncomfortable, she even forgot to give us our pictures and chased us (as much as you can with a woddle) down the corridor with them after. My next MW appointment is also when I'm 17 weeks so couldn't wait any longer which is why we got our doppler. For only £25 I see no reason not to, all the horror stories aswell about not finding the heartbeat were a big reason why we didn't at first but I'm so stubborn that I won't give up until a find it anyway so it's caused no concern here yet. Highly recommend

Sophia1984 · 20/02/2016 11:04

The midwife found the heartbeat for me at 16 weeks, but warned me that it would be perfectly normal if they didn't find it and they would just call me back in a couple of weeks. She thinks my placenta might be at the front as she could hear lots of whooshing!

Christinedonna She will definitely have checked the heart was beating, just not thought to turn the volume up :-)

hgleslie89 · 20/02/2016 11:10

Jw I had a stomach bug last weekend, so know your pain! Just take care of yourself, the baby will be fine.

At my 16 week appointment the midwife said their policy wasn't to try and find the heartbeat as sometimes they can't get it and it makes people panic. It's understandable but a bit of a let down.
