ooh Sara what a rotten time we are all having...

Still for every down there is an upside - something positive has to happen for us all soon...it's the universal law (how you getting on Debbsy?)

As a pathetic distraction - what's the weather like where you all are? It's actually quite sunny here and the storm never happened - maybe that's why my LO didn't make an appearance (Maybe I am carrying the omen after all... )

Having yet another bath... if I'm having my bits on display to a consultant and his team - I want to be as presentable as a 41 weeks + 2 pregnant woman can be - I'm funny like that.

See ya - LA

God Debbsy I am very I can barely manage half a slice of toast at the moment, I am sat with a tub of grapes in front of me all day and I just keep popping one in every now and then to try and give me some energy! Having said that I am carrying that much extra water at the moment I think it is as much to do with that as the baby pressing on my stomach!

Pressure is good in that it is the baby pressing down, and obviously the lower he gets the better, but it is another one of those things that doesn't mean labour is going to happen within hours or anything, having said that, I think we are all sat here like sitting ducks and any of us could go at the drop of a hat, sit tight, bounce about, keep eating and drinking, and toggle between walking and resting, it is all we can do at this stage.

I don't know if it helps you in any way, but the only way I have managed to live a fairly normal life through all the contractions is to completely ignore them, I stopped clock watching, I stopped letting them stop us having dinner or going shopping or whatever else. Like I said I don't know if it will help at this stage, my mind set is now when they start I don't think 'this is it', I think 'god how long will they go on for this time'!!

sorry, was just feeling so sorry for mself then, i couldn't respond to any one!

debbsy, anything at this time is all positive.. your body's working towards labour (which is more than mines ever done) and every little bit helps... one of us has to have a baby soon! someone to get the ball rolling!

nj and la, goodluck with your sweeps today (nj, if the madwife tries putting you off AGAIN, promise me you will stamp your feet and insist)

Finally some good news - I've found a pump that I might be able to use on my gym ball!

NJ - like you I am totally ignoring the contractions and have stopped clock watching - although I am getting some very short, sharp ones that are stopping me in my tracks.

Just went upstairs to our room (I had a brainwave where I might find a pump) - I can see I am going to have a real challenge on my hands encouraging LO to keep his/her room tidy when Daddy leaves soggy towels all over the bed, doesn't hang up his dressing gown and leaves his laundry 10 yards from the basket... [grr]

Still waiting for my bath to fill... oh hum... suppose I can make a start on pumping up the ball.

see ya LA

Pump is missing the one attachment that would work with ball ... back to the drawing board...

Hot water seems to be playing up - bath way too cold... back to the drawing board on that one as well.

Just realised that we're on the last roll of toilet paper as well - life gets better and better doesn't it...

la, thats 3 things now, so the rest of your day should be ok (things like that happen in 3's) i'd go get some loo roll asap! it's one thing i always have a huge supply of in the house! your dp sounds just like mine, it amazes me their inability to put dirty clothes in a basket or hang a wet towel! still, i suppose it is easier to drop on the floor and have someone else do it! (even if that someone is over 9months pregnant)

Hi just wanted to say hi and reassure some of you who are being induced.

My midwife examined me when i went in to be induced with DS1 and i was told she didn't have much hopes as i wasn't at all faverable as my cervix was tightly closed and not effaced at all.
Anyhoo she gave me the pessery gel and a sweep at the smae time about 9pm by 11pm i started contracting and at 1am i was in established labour. Jack was born at 4pm the next day. SO it can happen very smoothly first time mum or not.

Good luck!

hi charlee, thanx for that...

i'm panicking a bit here about mine tbh, have phoned my friend who is birthing partner.. she's now worried as it's her dads birthday on saturday and she's taking him to a football match. i think she's worrying a bit more as she has a friend who was induced 48hrs ago and still hasn't done anything!! most of the people i've 'spoken' to though seem to have it over and done with in a day, so i just have to keep my fingers crossed i supppose!

when i had my sweep last friday, madwife said my cervix was soft and slightly open (normal for a second baby) but it's still very high up as the lazy so and so can't be bothered to engage!!

dp's just off to a job interview, damn he looks good in a suit!

Hi Debbsy - no didn't get pump with ball - probably too basic. Will get something sorted when DP around (have another in the loft I think).

Sara - whilst I was sorting out/ getting in and falling asleep (again) in the bath my dear old mum snuck off to the shops and bought a load (bless her) - getting absolutely soaked in a sudden downpour for her pains... When things settle down again she is going to be spoilt rotten!

These sudeen sharp pains are getting very noticeable.... still wary of clock watching though - only a couple of hours to go before consultant/sweep... feel a bit nervous actually.

Mum and I have repacked what we can into two carrier bags (don't have anything else). We both feel we should keep them handy.

Weather is all wet and horrible again.

Bit like baby actually - who is moving again... had one humdinger of a 'contraction' ten minutes ago and a little one just now.... think I'll ignore it a little while longer and get the vaccuum cleaner around....

Don't know where everyone else has gone... maybe they are hiding on NJ's other thread... had another painful episode just after hoovering and feel sick now...

Could be I'm a little excited that something is actually going happen today - even if it doesn't work straight away.

DP should be here soon, he's dropping us off early as he has a job to do - mum and I plan to have lunch at the hospital - it's not too bad there and there is choice of at least four coffee shops/restaurants/cafe. There is also a Body Shop there and I've just found a tenner I didn't know I had - so might have a nosey round there (and see if I can replace my massage oil and toiletries that got nicked).

I'll see you later... LA

just wanted to let you all know that I am thinking of you all - not long now! I know everyone will be saying that but its now inevitable. And I have already forgotten all the days of contractions and pain leading up to Maddy's birth and she is only a week old today! DH is already talking about no. 4......hmmm, may have to shelve those plans for some time!

Will keep checking in on here to see what is happening!
