OMG before I go I just realised next year is a Leap Year! We might have some babies born on the 29th! Exciting!!!! Cake Cake Cake

StockingFullOfCoal · 17/07/2015 17:02

SAHM so no mat leave to negotiate here. once was enough and I never went back

DH will be taking around 8 weeks off, possibly less, but definitely more than the standard 2 weeks. Due to what happened with his boy, I doubt he'll be wanting just 14 days off.

rallytog1 · 17/07/2015 17:23

I'll probably take 9-10 months, depending on how long we can eke out the finances! I did the same last time and was so ready to go back to work when dd was 9mo. We fancy the idea of dh taking the last month off with me as shared leave, then we could maybe travel or do something fun as a family. But that might be a pipe dream...

Boobear1983 · 17/07/2015 17:35

I will be taking a year off. I get 3 months full pay, then smp but I think I accrue annual leave when I'm on maternity leave, which is another month off on full pay. I'll then be going back part time until baby goes to school, then back to full time. Dh gets 40 hours off but will probably take some annual leave and be off for about 3-4 weeks to help me, seen as this is my first so I have no clue what I'm doing. This is his third!

fififolle · 17/07/2015 17:37

Fab news birdbrain!
Good luck tomorrow Lillian

Has anyone noticed that a certain other posted has disappeared since Purdie left this thread? What a strange coincidence.

Brummiegirl15 · 17/07/2015 18:09

I miss Purdie too Sad

Thank you so much ladies for all the kind words, I really do appreciate it.

Great news on the scan as well Birdbrain

Re maternity leave, I get 3 months full pay followed by smp. I'm going to take the full year, then I get obvs my holiday and 8 bank holidays plus we get parental leave for 4 weeks @ 65% of our pay so will have that too.

Expect to be off about 14 months in total

fififolle · 17/07/2015 18:11

Hi Brummie!
I'm planning to take 7 months....just need to persuade DH as its out own business Smile.

Ohjellybelly · 17/07/2015 18:26

I'm not the only one thinking ahead to maternity leave then.
I'll be taking a mere 12 weeks off. It's really all the business can afford - I need to be there for it to function properly.
Dp and I work opposite times anyway so after the 3 months, he will have the 9am - 3pm baby shift, then I take over whilst he works afternoons/odd evenings.
DP is very much looking forward to this. I know that he'll make a fantastic hands on dad too so I'm very happy and secure with this arrangement.

Thanks everyone hopefully I can share a happy scan tomorrow :)

At 10+5 even with some spotting I find I am starting to get more optimistic and let myself get excited. I hope my intuition is not wrong. Bought some tummy cream and went all out on 3 for 2 on pregnancy vitamins from Boots... at first I didn't feel ready to buy more than one box Confused. The things we go through as expectant mums.. sigh

I'm on temp/contract so no maternity pay for me I'm afraid and no job waiting for me after either Envy. hoping to take 12 months off but it all depends how long we can manage on a single income plus the cost of a new bub. My guess is after 9 months I'll be looking for a job but will try to stretch it out!

Boobear1983 · 17/07/2015 18:55

I would be returning to work a bit sooner but both me and dh work shifts that don't match up whatsoever so childcare will.be a nightmare. Hence me taking the full year off.

Good luck for tomorrow lillian

CalypsoLilt · 17/07/2015 19:12

My maternity pay is pants: 6 weeks at 90% then SMP after that. Still planning/hoping to take 12 months off.

monkerina · 17/07/2015 19:32

Gluck for tomorrow Lillian- looking forward to seeing the pic already Smile

Assuming all goes well, we'll be following the same maternity plans we've been thinking about for the last 22 months!Year off, plus accrued leave, equals about 14 months; then back to work part time. My work offers 20% extra salary for the first year after maternity leave, so because of tax brackets etc I'd only be earning a little less.

birdbrain21 · 17/07/2015 19:54

Been trying to post a picture but won't work from phone and dH is using the laptop. Will do it over the weekend.
Good luck for tomorrow lillian!

rdr15 · 17/07/2015 20:42

I'm very lucky and have 6 months full pay so will definitly be taking that. I'd love to be able to then take the extra 3 months smp but I'm not sure finances will allow it. I already do 32 hours over 4 days but would love to drop another day but again not sure it's going to be feasible. Lots to think about re finances over the next few months!

AbFab86 · 17/07/2015 21:01

I get a grand total of 45 days maternity leave - the joys of living in the Middle East! Clearly not a working woman who came up with that rule. I will be taking more though, regardless.

I had a scan today and saw the diabetes consultant. All very efficient but really drove it home how important it is that I have perfect control of my diabetes whilst pregnant. I've been really struggling to maintain a healthy balance where I'm not hypo all the time, so it just added a bit more stress onto that. That, added to feeling nauseous all day every day for the last 2 weeks has been a bit crap, but I'm 9+2 now so hoping it will soon start to fade! Off on holiday on Sunday so it won't be welcome then.

Littleoakhorn · 17/07/2015 21:01

I get 20 weeks full pay and then smp (ish). I'm hoping to take 11 months as I definitely wasn't ready to leave dd after 9 months.

what're the plans for the weekend everyone? Anything exciting or just pottering about?

AbFab86 · 17/07/2015 21:03

Forgot to attach the scan pic! Baby was curled up so not the clearest but we saw it wiggle about and could see a heart beat so all good :)

twinsandapenguin · 17/07/2015 21:03

Hello Ladies
After about 48 hours of hounding I finally got my scan sorted for next Friday!! Lovely to hear of those having successful scans Smile
Good luck tomorrow Lillian!

twinsandapenguin · 17/07/2015 21:22

Rally - we did that at the end of my maternity leave with dd, we went on a road trip round California for 5 weeks. You should do it! There are few opportunities to have that long off together

Boobear1983 · 17/07/2015 21:54

Great pic ab

rallytog1 · 17/07/2015 22:04

Ah, that sounds totally amazing twins. Although not sure how much fun a road trip would be for the 3yo we'd also have in tow! Nice to dream though...

twinsandapenguin · 17/07/2015 22:09

Hahaha! Yes there is that too, best with just the one baby perhaps. We want to do something this time too, but something toddler appropriate Grin

rallytog1 · 17/07/2015 22:36

A month at Butlins it is then Grin

Onecurrantbun · 17/07/2015 23:55

No maternity leave here as I'm a SAHM. This will be our last baby so I plan to look for work when they're about 3. I have never been ambitious towards work so who knows what I will end up doing?! It'll be an exciting time!

I hope DH will do what he did with the girls; 2 weeks paternity followed by 2 weeks annual leave.

littleoak I'm off on a hen do. Got a 3.5hiur drive there so hope I can relax and enjoy it rather than spend it cleaning up other people's sick lol. Have you got owt on?

lilian everything Crossed.for you
