Inspired by the ladies in the October ante-natal club thread but not wanting to clog it up with incessant HB chatter, I thought I'd start a little thread for anyone planning a home birth this year!

I thought it would be a nice place to share tips, advice, experiences and generally have a chat about it all!

I'm due DC2 in early October and am hoping, all risks considered to have a home birth!

Love to hear from anyone else!

ollieplimsoles · 07/06/2015 21:25

Can I join this thread?

I'm due October and planning to HB (hopefully it works out) this is my first baby!

Topsy34 · 12/06/2015 20:23

Oooh yay!! A homebirth thread!

Can i plonk myself in?

Im due mid November and having a homebirth, will be my second HB. We had ds, now nearly 6, at home in water with hypno.

It was lovely, so nice.

scatterbrainedlass · 13/06/2015 09:52

Of course you can join!! It has been a bit quiet in here recently. I think most of us are just waiting! I'm due October with my first and am hoping for a homebirth, not sure yet whether to go with a birthing pool or not. Anyone in here due soon?

sparklez186 · 13/06/2015 23:57

jumping on board, due in december, had a homebirth with my second and it was perfect. hoping for a repeat this time round

Beesandbutterflies · 03/07/2015 19:48

Hi everyone just checking in and seeing how everyone is getting on?

Guyropes · 03/07/2015 22:29

Hello! What a lovely thread!

I'm so glad I found it today, so thanks for bumping, bees.

We went on hospital tour today, and I'm not keen! Going to have a good read of home birth website now.

Due end of the month.

Beesandbutterflies · 04/07/2015 09:10

Oh exciting guyropes! Please tell us all about you and your plans SmileSmile

I'm due sept

Allstoppedup · 04/07/2015 09:18

Ahh! Totally forgot I'd started this thread! Thanks for the bump bees

Hope everyone is doing well and there have been a few more HBs since I last checked in.

27 weeks over here now and planning to have a good old chat with my midwife next week! Still very excited!

Hi allstopped! How are you feeling? I've forgotten is this dc2 for you? X

Guyropes · 04/07/2015 21:21

Hi, all stopped and bees.

Thank you for the welcome!

I hAve t mAde a plan yet.. just discussing it now. I've had to wait and see what my blood pressure was like, so hoping to get go ahead from consultant next week, and do my birth plan with midwife. I had pre eclampsia with my first, hence the bp monitoring, and a lovely home birth with my 2nd. This is 1st baby with new partner.so just Hoping to deliver at home, no birth pool, as not enough space. Older children not wishing to be present.just want to steer clear of the confines of delivery suite really, and not be disrupted by travelling to hospital I. The middle of labourI think, and not be interfered wI th.

The most important thing in my mind at the moment is avoiding Induction...

Hope the midwife chat goes well next week, all.

Are you and bees due around d the same time?

Beesandbutterflies · 05/07/2015 12:30

I'm due September and starting to get excited Grin. 2nd home birth for me but in a new area now so different midwives. Going to have the pool again, not sure in living room or dining room. Midwife didn't think the bath (it is a big bath) will be deep enough for the actual birth.

Will be making same choices as last time I think. Eg no internals/no vit k. Calm quiet environment etc etc.
No specific plans other than that.
Oh will keep the placenta then planning to plant with the other one in our new garden.
Just trying to work out Childcare at the moment

Guyropes · 05/07/2015 19:59

Hi bees, sounds lovely.. I'd like to have a pool, but it's just not practical. Did you not have any ve's with your first? How was that?

Childcare is a bit of a conundrum really. I have spoken to a few mums on the street, so I'm going for quantity really! Hopefully somebody will be available if needed. I am hoping that the baby will be born overnight so they can wake up to their new sibling!

Looking forward to hearing how you get on.

Beesandbutterflies · 05/07/2015 20:42

I think there are some mini pools, worth checking out although if you've done it already on dry land then you're fully prepped! GrinGrin

No ve's during first birth, I can't see the point or see why anyone would want one Shock
The mws at my first birth asked to do it, my dh said no. This time I have a dedicated hb mw and she said they aren't any use until there's a concern anyway and completely happy with the no ve plan. Makes me feel a bit sick thinking about it to be honest!

Mw had suggested I might like dc1 in the pool with me for the birth ShockShock no, just no, that's not happening! Lol

Allstoppedup · 05/07/2015 22:16

Yeah bees this is my second squish but will hopefully be my first homebirth!

I was induced at two weeks over last time and although it wasn't a bad experience as such I feel like a home birth would suit me much better this time round and I can be with my whole family (DP and DS) straight away which just feels right!

guy I'm due at the start of October if this little monkey arrives when predicted but I'm fairly open minded about a 'due' date as such this time round!

I'm not too sure what the plan childcare wise either! My DS will be 21 months and is a whirlwind, I don't particularly mind him staying throughout but I'd hate for him to get upset so want some childcare back ups just in case! Grin

I'm starting to panic slightly about having a second child ShockShock other people seem to survive, hope I do!!

Allstoppedup · 06/07/2015 07:27

bees I know what you mean, I have fleeting moments of panic about it too! How it will affect my LO and the sheer logistics of a baby and a crazy toddler!

But, millions before us seem to cope well and some even go on to have more! I'm very excited more than anxious at the. moment but I guess that could flip at any moment!Grin

Beesandbutterflies · 06/07/2015 07:42

Glad it's not just me! Most people seem to stop at 2, maybe because the second is so and! ShockShock
Guy please come and reassure us!!

I'm also super excited about meeting this little one. Another one to join the mad house Shock

Beesandbutterflies · 06/07/2015 07:43

Bad not and, silly autocorrect!!

Guyropes · 06/07/2015 17:25

Oh no, the second is solid gold in my experience! I remember well wondering how I could possibly love another baby as much as I did my first, but she was and is utterly adorable. And the 2 of them love each other so much too.

Not that our lives are entirely loved up! We do fight and have difficult times, but it feels good to be bringing a baby into what is alreAdy a loving family.

Beesandbutterflies · 06/07/2015 17:31

Aww guy that's lovely!

sparklez186 · 06/07/2015 22:22

Another third timer here. the second is a goodun. the first you have a special bond because it's been just you two but the second one just amazes you all the time by how they have different personality. The logistics of 3 under 4 is really worrying me, just trying not to think about it much!
Bees your mw sounds lovely, mine are very hands off and its a great experience, with my first i was talked into a lot including ve which I had intended to decline and think that was one of the starting points of our hb not happening. with the second the first time the mw came near my hoo ha was to see if I needed stitches after 3rd stage!! with the same company this time and my mw is just wonderful.

Beesandbutterflies · 07/07/2015 06:33

SmileSmileGrin Good to hear!
Are you using independent mws sparkle?

Guyropes · 07/07/2015 16:11

Hi sparkles!

Yes, the first is special because that's the person who made you a parent!

I had wanted more children sooner, (perhaps not 3 under 4! That does sound demanding sparkles, but they'll all be a close little team) but I'm hoping it'll be nice for the older ones to have a baby.

I hadn't realised that ve's could be so negative.

I saw the midwife, and I'm now waiting for a follow up strep b test after a previous positive. Not sure what I'll want to do if it's positive again... I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

alrey88 · 15/07/2015 11:54

Hi I'm Due in Feb first baby was born at home 6 hr labour I was 37 weeks so if I'd gone into labour before that day, I wouldn't have been allowed .Hopefully going for another it's been 6 years since my daughter was born so everything seems first time again!
