Happy birthday, Bradders!

I'm a secondary school teacher, too mrsryan. There's tons of us on here, isn't there? Well, I suppose that answers the question of what we get up to in our long summer holidays!Wink

KittyVonCatsington · 23/02/2015 17:18

Happy Birthday bradders Cake

piglet every pram has pros and cons and I've come to the conclusion that you just have to find what pro is most important to you (so if being light is the number one priority then you'll have to ignore how low down it is!) For me, I like how high up the Stokke is for my back but know full well it is a bugger to fold up!

Bastard fraud apple grrr! Horrid when that happens!

Happy Birthday Bradders!!

Piglet Part of me is dreading trying pushchairs as I'm confused as it is!!! Main things for me are that it folds down enough to fit in my car boot, comfortable to push, should hopefully be robust enough to last(not flimsy!!) and be able to put maxi cosi car seat on it.

Apple oh no!!! Hope that the money is recouped etc sounds like you are gonna be a pin cushion next week! Mine are spaced a bit with anti d next week, week after whooping cough then bloods 2 weeks after that.

Can't believe only got 27 actual teaching days before unofficial leave begins at easter!

bradders85 · 23/02/2015 17:40

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone had a very nice chilled day.

apple hope money gets sorted soon and bank get to the bottom of it.

smiley i finish at Easter too - will soon be here!!

Chookford · 23/02/2015 17:47

apple boooo fraud makes me sooo angry! Hope they get it sorted for you soon... My dh's paypal account was hacked just before Xmas for £1700 money was returned two days later so hopefully it will be nice and quick for you too!

d0ttyne11 · 23/02/2015 18:01

Ouch apples that's a lot of ££ on the credit card. V helpful that the bank are being proactive about it.

Bradders - happy birthday! Just think, next year someone will be sat on your knee when it's your next birthday! Hope you've been enjoying a special day.

Piglet - I'm in south London too & need to order our pram with walking & buses in mind. In the couple of places we looked they put a hard sell on the bugaboo bee but our preference is the uppababy cruz. Partly because of the massive easy access basket underneath, the ease of releasing the bassinet (that can be used overnight) & then partly as all the 'extras' like car seat adapters come with it in case we need them too.

I've my whooping cough vacination tomorrow. Heard mixed reactions so hoping it's just a sore arm for a few hours though with a bad cough & course of antibiotics on the go, wondering if I'll be turned away!

Hope everyone has a good week ahead - especially smiley, mrsr, kitty and all those who've gone back after half term breaks today. Hope your classes have been alright.

I'm looking forward to getting over this cough & then hitting 30 weeks on Sunday. From the movement over the last few days, so is baby Dot!

Snooky17 · 23/02/2015 18:53

Hmmm daughter may have slapped cheek syndrome, it's her 6th bday Tomoz, party on Thursday, she isn't ill but gonna have to keep her off school Tomoz to see doc (if I get app) she wants to wear her badge and give out sweets. Nhs is bit confusing as to when she is contagious, but most scary is the possible prob for pregnant peeps, I have midwife Tomoz and 28 week bloods so am hoping they can just add it as a test, anyone had experience of it? Sorry this is all me me me, will catch up on thread shortly

applecore0317 · 23/02/2015 19:53

Will get it all back, not too panicked, would have been more annoyed if it was my debit card. Found another transaction for £148 on my latest statement that wasn't mine either. They said its difficult to pin point where my details were taken, but I will certainly be reinstating my verified by visa.

No experience of slapped cheek Snooky, really hope its not that though

owch chook thats loads!!

glad yours are spaced out smiley suppose we all may as well get used to being pin cushions. I imagine labour will be the same :)

Justyouwaitandsee · 23/02/2015 21:03

Happy birthday Bradders! Am very jealous of the bath. I am still waiting for mine. DH and my dad worked all weekend and got the frame built but not plumbed in as yet. Enjoy!

Piglet - we felt the same about the bugaboo bee, although several friends recommended it. Did you look at the different icandys? I think they were lightweight but a bit more robust. We went for a mamas and papas sola2 in the end. Just keep looking until you find the one that works for you Smile

mumxof3x · 23/02/2015 21:15

Happy birthday bradders :) hope you had a nice day.

Apple thats rubbish r.e the fraud. Hopefully it will be returned fast.

Threesoundslikealot · 23/02/2015 21:53

Happy Birthday, Bradders! (Very late in the day.)

Apple, my debit card was cancelled on Friday for the same reason. My bank was also on to it really quickly, thank goodness, but it's a massive pain having no access to money. I broke down in tears on the way home as stupid TfL don't say on their website that the auto top up can only go on an Oyster card if you're going on the tube so I had no money and no way of getting home. Bastards.

I massively admire all you teachers, you know. Bloody hard work, especially when pregnant.

We've got a Bee, which I do love, as it's incredibly manoeuvrable. But we use a Maclaren lots too. Less zippy but lighter.

bradders85 · 23/02/2015 22:08

thanks again everyone.....have scoffed a bag of mini eggs whilst watching broadchurch!!
just hope you get your bath soon....I have to say I am enjoying the luxury of a nice soak and all the candles lit as only had a shower in this house before so making the most of it and all my new sanctuary bath goodies!

Off to bed now so catch up with you all tomorrow - hope we can all get some decent sleep!!

applecore0317 · 23/02/2015 22:15

Sounds perfect bradders

Oh no three thats even worse, at least with me it was just my credit card. Spotted another £150 on my latest statment that wasn't mine so had to report that too.

Another friend of mine also had it happen to her on Thursday... goes to show how easy it is now. Plus all of us are pregnant...wondering if the increase in online shopping to buy baby and pregnancy stuff has left us vulnerable

Bazza2 · 23/02/2015 22:34

Happy birthday Bradders!

Threesoundslikealot · 23/02/2015 22:38

I have no idea how it happened to me, apple. I haven't used my card for anything interesting in months - just cash withdrawals and Aldi! I haven't bought anything at all for this baby, poor neglected thing.

Justyouwaitandsee · 23/02/2015 23:03

We're in the same position Bradders - only had a (leaky) shower since moving to this place. I miss out old flat with its two gorgeous old cast iron baths. Roll on the time we can get this work finished, although slow progress with having to rely on free time at wknds. Did you have yours fitted professionally?

Sorry to all those who have suffered card fraud. I have been a bit anxious with all the online house and baby purchasing. Would be a nightmare if we had to stop our cards right now...

plinkyplonks · 23/02/2015 23:04

bradders - Happy birthday!! Hope you had a wonderful day x

apple - that sucks :( Really hope you get your money back soon!

Thanks to everyone who helped out with my iron query - I had no idea Pregnacare didn't offer 100% daily iron :/ Will now try and add some additional iron rich foods to my diet to make up for it!

Had my first NCT class today- it went OK, although felt like the class worrier. Everyone else seemed so chilled and relaxed about birth. My real life experience includes people i know who have lost their baby and another who had a very grotty birth experience. If I hadn't have spent so much money on it, I probably wouldn't go to the rest because I don't want to bring the rest of the class down. Ah well, onwards and upwards! Week 31 starts tomorrow so something positive to look forward to!

plinkyplonks · 23/02/2015 23:15

BTW... Had anyone seen this episode of OBEM? Sarah's husband Shock

longestlurkerever · 23/02/2015 23:26

Evening everyone! Sorry for not being able to answer anyone's questions and instead asking one of my own. Anyone any idea how long the gtt takes and can you leave the hospital for the hanging around bits? Have mine on Thursday and not looking forward to it.

Threesoundslikealot · 23/02/2015 23:31

The GTT is (usually) two blood tests taken two hours apart, plus initial faffing. Different hospitals have different policies though about what you do between them. Strictly speaking you shouldn't do anything, as moving around will reduce your blood sugar, so lots of places will want you to sit still. I do know some let you out though. Yet another reason why GTTs are such a flawed test.

gingerfluffball · 23/02/2015 23:31

Longest... mine started at 9am with first blood test and glucose drink, then sitting in waiting room until 10am and second blood test, then again sitting in waiting room til 11am and final blood test. V boring, take a book! And also something to eat if you've been fasted, I was starving and demolished a banana in the car on the way home. I don't think generally you can leave while the test is going as being active affects your blood sugar. I was told to sit and only take tiny sips of water if I needed them.

longestlurkerever · 23/02/2015 23:33

Thanks both, it does sound dull, especially as mine doesn't start till 10'. Will be starving!

plinkyplonks · 23/02/2015 23:53

Depends on which type of GTT test they offer ... mine involved a fast from midnight, 7.30am sugary solution drunk followed by 9.30 blood test.

piglet81 · 24/02/2015 07:06

Morning all. This is spooky - my debit card got cloned at the weekend so the bank stopped it and I'm having to sponge off my husband until my new card arrives! Must be something in the air!

Also had our first NCT class last night and was a bit underwhelmed. She didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know - it all seemed very basic. However, the group were nice enough and hopefully as it goes on we'll find it more informative.

applecore0317 · 24/02/2015 07:35

Oh no piglet nightmare!! Card cloners must be getting better at what they do... hope the bank get it sortes quickly. Was it a proper clone or did your details get used online?

My NCT classes don't start until the beginning of April... Is that really late?
