sorry your DS has pavo Snook hope your bloods all come up fine

KittyVonCatsington · 24/02/2015 17:27

Poor little love snooky -there seems to be a lot of slapped cheek going around here too. Thank goodness we are all in the third trimester!

I can't tell if Kitlet has hiccups but I can tell when she is shuffling! I see what appears to be a head or bum slide slowly scross my belly like a wierd angled alien! Really uncomfortable! Then I get the moments were my belly button sinks in the middle! Took a pic last night- it looks quite disturbing!!!

Thanks guys she is fine in herself, just noticed I put DS in my post oh dear lol, having an anterior placenta is pants this is the 1st time I've had it and it really makes a difference that or my hot cross bun addiction means I have far too much padding to see/feel much lol. When is everyone planning on starting their hospital bags ?

leanne963 · 24/02/2015 18:33

I was probably going to start packing it at around 32 weeks just cause I have a feeling she will be early and my intuition is usually right! I need to get all the 'me' stuff like nipple pads, throwaway large knickers and things like that! Kinda exciting!

applecore0317 · 24/02/2015 18:59

yeah should get mine done around 32 weeks too really. Bought some washable breast pads, they're really soft. I have disposable ones too. Knickers I am just going to get the some big ones from primark, they do packs of five for £2.50, so am happy to bin them after

Chookford · 24/02/2015 19:05

I will be doing mine around then too, have to do the maternity shop for me as well.. don't forget lip balm ladies it was a life saver for me last time my lips were like sandpaper!!

bradders85 · 24/02/2015 19:07

Hope DD is feeling ok snooky I've bought a few maternity pads and nipple pads for the hospital bag but not gt anything else - think I will make a start soon just to be on the safe side!
just bath wasn't professionally fitted but FiL and BiL are very handy on the DIY front so they did it for us. Our shower tray was curved so we got an L shaped bath to cover the foot print of that as we have a tiled bathroom floor and walls so it hasn't messed anything up - very happy with it. Lots of little jobs I'd like doing round the house but not sure I wantt o spend the cash to get them done!!

bradders85 · 24/02/2015 19:07

chook added lip balm to the list! :)

Chookford · 24/02/2015 19:14

And a hairband bradders if it's warm you will want your hair off your neck!!(if you have long hair that is!) Wink

bradders85 · 24/02/2015 19:39

thanks chook very good to get all these tips!

applecore0317 · 24/02/2015 19:42

Years ago I used to work on the maternity ward handing out teas and coffees. The wards used to get so hot in the summer and people woukd be sick and some would faint. Hope its not hot on the days we are popping lol

Chookford · 24/02/2015 21:03

No problems bradders I had someone give me all these tips when I had my dd and it made such a difference so if I can pass in anything on then hooray! Smile

Also another good thing to have is a water bottle to refill as Apple said it can get really warm on the ward and it helps to have water on hand to constantly sip!

shinyhappyone · 24/02/2015 21:04

Definitely need to know tips for hospital bag ladies. My school, has weird holidays so breaking up on Friday for 2 weeks. The hospital bag is definitely on my to do list in that time! xx

Sunshinesaz86 · 24/02/2015 21:06

Evening ladies, just in the process of catching up with the thread but had a quick question.

Is there anything we can take for a sore throat? Or just paracetamol, mines killing just hope it's not going fi develop into anything more! Sad

cuphat · 24/02/2015 21:19

Plinky, not sure if anyone else mentioned it but the Pregnacare I have contains 121% RDA iron. I'm vegetarian and don't eat much iron naturally but my iron levels have always been fine while taking it.

Snooky17 · 24/02/2015 22:01

Sunshine good old fashioned lemon and honey for sore throats really does work.
Water bottle is a good call, solves a double purpose, fill it up and squirt in on when having a wee especially if you have stitches after birth.

applecore0317 · 24/02/2015 22:57

sunshine I second the hot water with honey and lemon, had two colds in January and it really helped with the sore throat

Bazza2 · 24/02/2015 23:25

Lemsip and brandy! Works every time.

Oh....wait.....bugger. Honey and lemon.

KittyVonCatsington · 25/02/2015 06:39

Sunshine Also get some Oraldene to gargle-that is perfectly safe for pregnancy and will help soothe your throat and also help clear up any rogue bacteria -hope you feel better soon!

I found you all Grin

Thanks for starting the new thread, my internet in the hospital in Lindon was dire, we're at our local now though so it's a bit better at least.

We're here until next Tuesday but I'm not only steps away from the antenatal ward should I need them in my final few weeks.

Whooping cough jab today, consultant on Friday which is handy because I've got to the point where I can't walk more than a few meters without triggering a good hour of painful contractions Confused

My youngest Aldo has chicken pox and I'm not sure if I've had them so I need to double check, I think I must have at my age but there's no one to ask so it's best to be in the safe side.

I have a mouthful of blistery, painful spots this morning, I'll assume it's just from being a bit run down.

I've not had a chance to read the thread, I hope everyone is ok and I'll catch up as and when I can. Thanks

Sunshinesaz86 · 25/02/2015 07:43

Sounds like your really going thru the milk tits. Hope things improve for u soon. Ps I've also got my whooping cough injection today.

Thanks for all the sore throat advice ladies, I'll give that a go. And some oraldine. Haha bazza lemsip and brandy would be good, if only!!.....

Thanks for the squirty water bottle tip too! Making me smart just thinking about it, oh the joys of whats waiting for us!

Also there was a mass local protest this weekend just gone re the downgrade of my local maternity ward and the health board have stepped in saying it's not urgent and needs to be reviewed properly as the decision been made too quickly. Soooo fingers crossed nothing will happen for the time being at least and they may even do a u turn! But only time will tell!

Oh and it's Wednesday hump day! Grin

longestlurkerever · 25/02/2015 07:45

tits I hope your eldest is ok. Glad you are closer to home now at least. Sorry about chicken pox. You have an awful lot on your plate! Hope you are immune.

Gosh, hospital bags already. I hope none of us need them so soon but I guess it's getting exciting! Does everyone with older dcs have a plan for what to do with them? My dsis works in London so is on call for daytimes but for evenings and weekends I need a stack of friends to call on. Half term week makes it tricky!

Tits that all sounds really difficult. My stepdaughter was very ill while I was pregnant with DS and I spent lots of my third trimester in hospital. It's exhausting stuff enough without that energy zapping environment. I hope you're all home soon. Not wanting to stress you out more by the way but is it possible that your mouth spots are pox?

applecore0317 · 25/02/2015 08:54

Sorry that you're not having a great time of it Tits hope the mouth spots are just due to being run down.

Another nice hot drink Tori is elderflower and hot water. New thing I've got onto, hope the cough clears up quickly.

I am 27 weeks today Grin
