Also, impressed Blondie and Tori that home births were talked about with you, no one has mentioned them here but midwife at classes has been really supportive of hypnobirthing and the value of positive birth stories. Have since instructed MIL I don't need to hear any more of her horrendous long drawn out caesarean tales, midwife's orders! Grin

applecore0317 · 15/03/2015 12:17

Speaking of birth stories, have you noticed how people who you barely speak to normally think its ok to sit and tell you every detail of their labour including bleeding, splitting, after etc.... I am fine hearing it from you ladies and my friends

Justyouwaitandsee · 15/03/2015 15:19

Ginger - home births seem to be really promoted around here. And I think you get the support of two midwives too. Not quite sure how they make it work but they certainly have an excellent track record.

I would definitely like to consider a home birth for any future babies but feels like birthing centre is the safest for the first time. All the rooms on the unit are private en suite with a bed for partners to stay with you and baby - definitely aiming for that than having to stay on a ward.

Blondie87 · 15/03/2015 16:13

Started a hypnobirthing course last week. It was more than I wanted to pay but I'm prepared to try anything if it'll help me relax about birth!

SmileyScooby · 15/03/2015 16:50

just he felt bad later on so went and got me some chocolates from the shop hehe

apple totally agree re the birth stories from people normally don't usually speak lots too.

I have managed to tick some more things off my work to do list today....unfortunately I also opened my work emails so have now extended it by about the same amount!!

leanne963 · 15/03/2015 18:32

Happy Mothers day ladies! We are growing these beautiful little babies so I am pretty sure we qualify ;)

I have been terribly snotty and have had no sleep for the past 3/4 days so last night DP said he would sleep on the sofa so I could get a good night's sleep and I slept from 12 - 7.30 straight through! I NEVER do that even pre pregnancy haha!! Must have been exhausted!!

Yes apple why do people want to tell you negative stories about birth!! I wanna hear about the positive quick births ha!!!

Chookford · 15/03/2015 20:04

leanne my birth story is a positive one 7hours start to finish, no pain relief other than a tens machine and birth pool and after my waters went she was born in 21 minutes and two pushes no tears or cuts... And was a truly amazing experience!

Hope that evens up on the positive in the sea of terror stories people love to tell about birth! Wink

Scottishgal78 · 15/03/2015 20:33

Ooh Chook that is my dream!

Chookford · 15/03/2015 20:35

scottish I have everything crossed that I have a similar experience this time... But not sure I will be lucky enough to have it so easy twice!!!

I will hope that everyone has a good experience like mine! Smile

Hello Maysters. Gosh there is a lot to catch up on.

Sorry to hear about all the aches and pains and scary hospital trips. Glad everyone is generally doing ok. Flowers and Cake to all!

Not long to go now, eh?

Today I've started throwing some bits into a hospital bag and have prewashed little bean's babygrows. It's definitely starting to feel more real, eeep!

Thankfully my MiL is fairly sane and kind (and my mother lives in a different hemisphere) but what is really getting up my nose is a bunch of random people, strangers and work acquaintances mostly, commenting on how big my belly is getting! Things like "looks like you only have 2 weeks to go!" and "are you sure that there is only one in there?"

Pregnancy rage and hormones make it very hard to not get snappy or tearfully start to compare my size to a small elephant seal... Luckily my midwife measured me as bang on target, otherwise my emotions would be all over the place. Anyone else had this? Or am I somehow luckily bumping into all the insensitive people in London?? Angry Sad

twinkle I keep having people ask me if I'm sure there is only one in there too... Some people really need to filter their thoughts! I am 30wks and in measuring a little behind that too so I'm not overly big I don't think but I'm sure my height impacts how big I look, as a short arse I seem bigger than I actually am... Well that's what I'm telling myself anyway! Smile

Blondie87 · 15/03/2015 21:38

All the time! I've been asked if it's twins are three occasions, people are constantly surprised when I tell them I'm due in May, with the added comment 'Wow you'll be big!'

Scottishgal78 · 15/03/2015 21:40

chook any tips/words of wisdom or do you think your last delivery was just luck?

I'm the opposite - everyone telling me I'm very 'beat' and 'you would barely know'. Makes me think I always looked 6/7 months preggers!Grin

Scottishgal78 · 15/03/2015 21:41

'Neat' not 'beat'!

Turquoisetamborine · 15/03/2015 21:59

Scottish thanks for mentioning the polyp story. That sounds like what's happening to me. It will ease off for a while then bleed loads.
I'm at home and feeling fine after my scare. Thanks for all the good wishes. Baby is fine and still tucked in safe. He's moving loads.

I still had a good Mother's Day and DS made me some lovely pictures.
Hope you all had a better weekend. I'll catch up on the thread tomorrow.

leanne963 · 15/03/2015 22:11

Aw glad to hear you are doing well turqouise and had a good day :D

Do you know what i hate about people's unnecessary comments? Today when i commented that gossip magazines are always picking on women's faults yet praising men for doing the most ordinary things e.g 'Oh she is letting herself go' cause she has no make up on and a picture of a man bottle feeding his child 'Aww. Ben is a real hands on Dad'. So i commented that i thought it was unfair and that gossip mags annoy me and some guy i know said 'Newsflash: Woman has pregnancy hormone rage and gets sensitive over a magazine'

Just because i make a comment that you do not agree with does not mean that it was my 'hormones' argh.

Ok i admit, i did say i have been easily angered recently, but....come on....lol

Scottishgal78 · 15/03/2015 22:14

Aw glad you're both home safe and sound turquoise. You'll be glad of your own bed! Hopefully no more hospital trips for you until the big day!

applecore0317 · 15/03/2015 22:43

Pleased you're home Turquoise and everything is ok with the baby

Yep thats another one that I get, "your bump is huge" "you're going to be massive" "wow ten weeks, still a way to go then..." whilst looking at my bump in surprise

applecore0317 · 16/03/2015 04:37

awake...

Titsalinabumsquash · 16/03/2015 04:39

Also awake..... Hmm

applecore0317 · 16/03/2015 05:16

I really hope this is our bodies preparing us for the disturbed sleep to come... although I highly doubt it

Snooky17 · 16/03/2015 05:20

Grr awake as well ....

Justyouwaitandsee · 16/03/2015 05:39

Morning! Another sleep deprived mayster checking in! Seem to have picked up a cold of some sort - blocked sinuses, achy joints and muscles plus annoying cough. Struggled to sleep, tossing and turning, and when I finally did get to sleep, DH kindly woke me up to let me know I was snoring and sleeping on the wrong side!

We had an interesting Mother's Day. PIL came over for lunch and to help DH with some of the nursery prep. As they started to remove the radiator a valve broke and the next thing the living room ceiling sprang several leaks! Calls for towels and buckets had me and mil running up and down the stairs, whilst I still tried to serve up dinner on time. By the time DH managed to bring things under control (after water, heating and electrics were all switched off) and dinner was eaten, I had to be really anti social and go for a lie down! Had really strong BH, think the strongest and most frequent I've had so far (am coming up to 34wks) am planning to call in sick today to give myself some extra recovery time.

So pleased to hear you are home Turquoise and that you and baby are doing well. Have been thinking of you. Flowers

Justyouwaitandsee · 16/03/2015 05:41

Oh - just read my post back. Calling in sick due to feeling so rough and lack of sleep, not because of BH!
