I would ask what your hospital's successful vbac rate is. I found when working throughout London that the way vbac was managed (eg whether you could be induced/augmented or not, etc) varies from hospital to hospital, and as a result some places had more vbacs that worked than others.

Think about why you had your first c/s eg was it for breech and that is not the case this time? I wouldn't worry about scar dehiscence etc because you are monitored really closely and I can say in 16 years I probably saw it only a hand full of times, and in all of them mother and baby did ok, because the staff are trained to handle it, (I am not saying it isn't scary, it is for you, but remember these people look after all sorts of scenarios all the time).

Make the choice that works for you and your family, take into consideration what you will and wont be able to do post section. Will you have help with your toddler etc, as you wont be able to pick them up initially? Don't feel guilty for choosing a second c/s if that is what you feel safest with either. Know the risks of both choices for you and baby and then remember that the risks are very small in most cases. Childbirth is as individual as choosing who to marry or what house to buy. You have to pick the thing that works for you, you have to live with it.

On a lighter note anyone know anything about the Out and About Nipper V4 or the Mountain Buggy Swift??

I live abroad and the pavements here are a mess so I need something that can go on rough terrain. Plus fit in the car boot (we have a big boot) because you have to drive most places (public transport sucks).

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 17/01/2015 19:42

broody you most definitely support the same time as me Smile. Bad times.

Thepurplegiraffe · 17/01/2015 20:08

Thanks for the thoughts on vbacs ladies, it's really good to see some fresh perspectives.

broodylicious · 17/01/2015 20:47

Sorry, gottobeWink

usernameiwanted · 17/01/2015 21:10

Thanks for the replies. I'm a bit relieved to see I'm not the only one worrying. Not sure why I am freaking out as my elc (breech baby) was lovely, no pain, the theatre team were so nice and understanding and everything went as planned. I had some discomfort for around 8 weeks afterwards but I think it was mainly lack of sleep which I'm sure doesn't help with recovery. Even before I found out he was breech I was looking forward to what was hopefully going to be a water birth!

I did also have a bit of a wobble thinking I couldnt possibly love the new baby as much as my first born! Or it will no longer be me and ds (a twosome like batman and Robin), it will be me, ds and baby. This was at around 2am one morning so I was very tired and emotional at that time! I swear I'm not usually this emotional over silly things!

Bustherb · 17/01/2015 21:24

Thanks Zampa. Someone put on here they have a fiat 500? I do too and don't know how I'm going to fit a pram in!! Sorry I can't find the post xxx

misseskimo · 17/01/2015 22:11

Pram wise, thanks for the three recommendations! I already had the silver cross 3d in my mind as we saw it a few weeks ago and liked it. Only thing that put me off were the handles... But the deal at mothercare agm is certainly tempting! I really do like the idea of the full front bar rather than handles but for the other two their over double the price with the current deal, so has anyone had a 3d and got used to the handles? Maybe can give some feedback on that?

GingerbreadHead · 17/01/2015 22:13

Phew that took a while to catch up with you all!
Welcome to all the new ladies, and congrats to everyone who has had their scans and seen their happy little beans!!
Seems to be good news all round on the NT results too, we are making progress!
I'm going to have to come back and re-read this talk of car seats, need to do some research into it really, we used a Cybex that came with a travel system when DD was little, then moved up to a Maxi Cosi, but not with the base, just the seat belt. It has been such a faff moving it between cars I must admit, and not great for back pain when you are also lifting/carrying a child all day! So might be worth investing in some different options this time.

With the prams we have a Mamas and Papas zoom travel system. I am pretty happy with it, it has 3 wheels so a good turning circle and it folds down reasonably small. It didn't fit in my clio boot, so I also recommend making sure that your pram fits in your boot without having to take any wheels etc off, as when it's wet/muddy and you have a screaming baby that's the last thing you want to be faffing with!! I have just bought my first practical family car Smile I did have a sporty little renault clio, 3 door, which was a bit of a nightmare tbh with DD, but it decided to blow up on me just before Christmas. I now have a Vauxhall Meriva, and I think it is going to make my life so much easier with 2DCs! I was a bit worried it would be too big to drive as I am only used to hatchbacks, but it as actually completely fine, I was used to it after the second day, so whoever said they were worried about driving a bigger car, it's fine once you get used to it!

naty I saw the Asda event too is on, it starts today online actually so maybe time to start stocking up on nappies ladies!

Speaking of nappies, I really wanted to do cloth nappies with DD, bought a few types but just could not get the hang of them and they kept leaking Confused Anyone here an expert in cloth nappying? was it just us not doing it properly or was it the brand of nappy I bought!?

Wow sorry for the completely garbled post, I have been awake since 5 am and should probably go to bed. Not that I will be able to sleep once I'm there, this pg insomnia is just getting ridiculous, wouldn't be suprised if it lasts all 9 months at this rate!

ohlordyplordy · 17/01/2015 22:15

It was me bustherb. We googled 'fiat 500 pram' and found loads of forum threads discussing what does and doesn't fit.

Bustherb · 17/01/2015 22:24

Ah ok I'll try that. Have I just commented on your pram post on Facebook? Xx

ohlordyplordy · 17/01/2015 22:48

Ooh maybe, I've not got used to people's names yet!

BadIdeaBear · 17/01/2015 22:53

hey gingerbreadhead it was me being wimpy about bigger cars - sounds like a good recommendation - thanks! Maybe I should actually be grown up about this and do some test driving...

Been reading really nice book that my DSis lent me "your Body, your Baby, your Birth" tonight. Read lots of it aloud with my DH - it was actually really nice to do.

I think I'm getting little feelings of movement - I thought so about a week ago, but then read 1st time mums don't feel them till later, then read again that that's cos you don't realise what they are. But they feel like the little butterfly flutters and are in places that would be really weird to be wind... like right at the front of my mini bump.

Still finding myself a bit paranoid despite good 12 week scan and all being well... I reckon I'm reading the Pregnancy Thread on MN too often...!

ginger not an expert by any means but I've been using cloth nappies with dd1 since she was about 4 weeks old and I love mine. If they were leaking it is likely to be the fit of the nappy just wasn't quite right. All the different manufacturers have different fits so a different brand may work better for you. Which nappies did you try? We did a cloth nappy trial from the fill your pants website and settled on smartipants for during the day and close pop-ins for night. I wouldn't go back to sposies now. Have a search on Facebook or Google to see if there are any cloth nappy groups or libraries near to you as you can usually hire different brands from there to see what works for you and fits baby best.

broodylicious · 18/01/2015 07:52

Eugh. Dreadful night. Just could not sleep. Dd was in with me and although she wasn't moving about too much, she did whack me in the face a couple of times when she turned over [ouch!!] Reckon I've had three hours tops.

Going to see my bestie for lunch today to tell her our exciting news. Will be lots of squeals as she's just got engaged on Christmas Day Smiler

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 18/01/2015 10:27

I feel your pain broody, hope you have a nice relaxing lunch with your friend! I had a terrible night for insomnia and woke up every couple of hours due to indigestion, trapped wind pain and DS whinging in his sleep because he has a blocked nose. Didn't help that DH rolled in late after I spent an hour having an irrational panic that he'd been in an accident after 2am and woke me up just as I had fallen asleep, grr. He is snoozing away still while I cbeebies entertain DS and I'm unreasonably irritated with him because he got to go and see lots of our friends last night, some of whom I haven't seen in years, while I had to stay in to look after DS Sad I encouraged him to go and he gave me a sort of lie-in yesterday so I can't really complain about any of it, so trying to get over myself before he wakes up! Sorry for the rant!

Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday!

misseskimo · 18/01/2015 10:55

Morning, just recently woken up and currently sitting up in bed with my two cats crazy cat lady alert

I feel very un-pregnant today. Not really feeling anything. My stomach feels a little crampy if anything, like coming to the end of AF but thats mainly it. It's also a bit "poppy" with a kind of pressure between the bottom of my ribs and belly button. It's making me really paranoid Sad I know it's only 8wks between scans but it seems so damn long! I'm wondering if it's because I had one every 2wks from 6 weeks due to being so unwell, so I had 4 scans by 13wks. Its now been 3wks since my last scan and I'm getting really itchy concerned somethings wrong. I have an apt. With my mw weds where I'm hoping she'll be able to reassure me a bit.
I'm 15+6 today

beakerandburette · 18/01/2015 12:06

Ginger I'm also not a cloth expert but DD has been in cloth since 3 mo and it has worked really well for us. Have you got a nappy library near by so that you can try out different nappy brands before commiting to buy. I mainly use the cheap nappies from TJ's and they have worked really well for us with a combination of microfiber and bamboo inserts. I'd recommend using the nappy lady website, she can advise you which brands might work well and you get a discount from her website for life.
This week I am booking an appointment for a private scan as I don't want to wait until the 12th of March. I got my dates muddled up so was only 10+3 at my Las scan 10 weeks is ages to wait!

beakerandburette · 18/01/2015 12:09

Who do I message to join the facebook group? :)

misseskimo · 18/01/2015 12:12

Beaker pm me your email address and I'll add you when I get home (can't seem to do on mobile app) x

Number3cometome · 18/01/2015 12:20

Hi ladies, is anyone having a sexing scan at 16 weeks? Looks like OH won't be able to make the 20 week scan so thinking I will book a 16 weeks one so he can see baby and find out the sex. I found one for £69

naty1 · 18/01/2015 12:46

They booked the 20w when we were at 12w so we had a bit of flexibility. I think they said it can be done from 18w or so.

beakerandburette · 18/01/2015 13:38

Our scan is at 17 weeks and we are hoping to find out the sex :)

broodylicious · 18/01/2015 17:19

Yeah we booked our 20wk scan at our 12 wk appt - chose an early time to avoid the absolute carnage that is our city centre's hospital car parking! We won't find out the sex.

Don't forget, folks, that you have an appt at 15/6 weeks with your mw and I'm pretty sure that it's the first Doppler moment so although you won't see baby, you'll definitely hear them splashing aboutWink Should get you through to 20 wk!
