Debz, not you too, still at work. When do you finish?

Ive just about had enough of commuting, and cant wait for it to be over. Last day in office is 2nd November.

Been having loads of problems with stiff joints in the mornings and hands are starting to swell up a bit too.

Have another scan on Tuesday to see whether I have to have a c-section or not as apparently the baby has a BIG HEAD, not what you want to hear!!

Hope everyone is keeping well!!

Thanks Mygirl, I will put it in my favourites until we decide for sure what we are going to do. I am more in favour it than DH, he says he realises I am the one who is to give birth so it is ultimatly up to me, but he is worried incase something does go wrong. I am certain that he will do everything to help in any case, but I would feel better knowing he is 100% with me, rather than just going along with it for my sake IYSWIM?

Hi all,

Welcome to Purpleluce

Martine - I am in exactly the same position as you. I have been told that the baby is very big (off the top of every chart ) and I have too much fluid as well. I had a growth scna at 33 weeks and have another next thursday together with consultant apt when I will be nearly 37 weeks and am almost certain I will be pushing for a c-section as both my midwives have recommended I have one. Good Luck for Tuesday!

Well, only a week left at work - HURRAH! Can't wait to finish as have got so much on with all my Dad's paperwork and stuff, it will be one less distraction for me.

finished packing the baby's bag for hosp this morning - not doing mine til next week as we are staying in a hotel Sat night for my friend's wedding so I will do it after that - yes I know it is late

Hope everybody is ok today anot suffering too badly with all our aches and pains!

martinemorris · 19/10/2006 11:51

Debz -Blooming hell, youre cutting it fine arent you. Do you have far to go to work.... I thought the 2nd November was bad enough. How long are you having off after the baby is born

40Weeks · 19/10/2006 11:51

I am really looking forward to my homebirth too - my DH has taken it all in his stride - I thought he would oppose it as his mum and dad really think I am mad but stats say its just as safe as hostpital birth and they monitor you so closely throughout pregnancy these days that they do tend to know in advance if there is a good reason to take you to hospital. And NJ, if you need to get to hospital during labour, they will call you an ambulance so dont worry about traffic holding you up from getting there. If they thought there was anything wrong they arent likely to get your DH to drive you! But my MW has been very supportive (once she knew I wasnt going to be put off) and said that instances where emergencies have arisen are very few and far between, because they would have got you into hospital before it got to that stage.

40Weeks · 19/10/2006 11:53

I finish on Nov 2nd too! 2 weeks before D Day....glad I am not the only one...

martinemorris · 19/10/2006 11:58

Podglet - isnt is great when they tell you these things. Apparently my fluid is fine its jus tthe length and the size of the head!!! . Let me know how you get on.

Ive also been invited to a wedding 2 weeks before due date, and havent packed my hospital bag, havent even looked at what im supposed to be packing!!

Who has a blooming wedding 2 weeks before im due anyway!! I havent got anything to wear and dont want to fork out on something im going to wear once.

God im hormonal today

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 19/10/2006 12:09

blimey - you turn your back for just a couple of days and the thread fills up so fast - you just don't where to start.

Anyhow I have had some news now. I wasn't planning to go on Maternity until about 9th November. The Occupational Health Nurse at work insisted I finish at the end of October... only a couple of weeks short. HOWEVER I had to see my GP (query UTI again), but before appointment I started to faint at work and got sent home. Slight change of direction with GP - my blood pressure was taken twice and it's gone sky high. GP asked me to go back again today to have some bloods taken and BP taken again. The long and short of it is my BP has actually gone even higher. My GP promptly told me that I have to rest until the birth now so in an instance - I'm on maternity leave. Work are beeing really nice - they want me to pop in for an hour tomorrow not to work - to just say goodbye and good luck. I had a plan to wind down and get everything ready for handover - but I suppose I have to listen to GP - I have to go back and see her or one of her colleagues again on Monday and I am officially being monitored.

I'm bored already!

Good luck to everyone else.

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 12:18

Martine - Having 26 weeks off after ... work is only 2 miles away so don't commute as such, so am lucky in that sense.

40Weeks · 19/10/2006 12:19

Oh LadyAnne dont be bored, I am sooooo jealous

40Weeks · 19/10/2006 12:19

...that you have finished work, not that your BP is high

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 12:22

Ditto 40 weeks wish I had left sooner !

jamcrumpet · 19/10/2006 12:34

Hi Ladies n' Bumps!

I'm so far behind now - where to start & catch up!

It's getting really exciting now with people talking about bag packing and finishing work (although not all under the best circumstances - sorry to hear your news LadyAnne). I finish on Wed- due 12th Nov and am soooo excited now - can't wait to just switch off from the stress here! I'm also running out of work clothes I can get away with and maintain my dignity so will be a relief to leave now

NatalieJane - I got the same Ediets email - made me chuckle too

Take care everyone...

saralou100 · 19/10/2006 12:36

you only wish you'd left sooner 'cause your suffering now... when lo's here you'll be glad you left it as long as possible!! especially when it comes to returning to work!!

i'm not on mat leave yet either - not till next week!! but i am on annual leave so thats a bit different and have been for 4 weeks now

i've not packed anything yet for hospital, although i've started gathering bits and pieces together, and shoved them into a pile in the corner of bedroom! it's my nephews 1st birthday 12 days before due date so i'll be needing my bags to go up to london (thankfully no posh frock required!) fab news sister has just announced she's 6weeks pregnant!

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 12:42

I know, I know !!! That's why I decided to leave it til the last minute but boy I'm ready to leave now !

martinemorris · 19/10/2006 12:43

I have a question for everyone. Baby seems to be having hiccups every hour during the day. Is this normal?

Also squirming seems to be getting very strong.

Need some reassurance!!

saralou100 · 19/10/2006 12:47

apparently hiccups are to do with baby stretching it's stomach or something along those lines.. my brain not functioning properly today!

squirming gets stronger because baby gets bigger and stronger.. and it's running out of room!!

saralou100 · 19/10/2006 12:49

i have a question for people too.. does any one get a hot patch on their belly's? after i've eaten hot food or had a cup of tea i get this red hot patch just above my belly button, everywhere else is normal skin tempreture... it's really weird! just wondering not worrying..

40Weeks · 19/10/2006 12:56

My baby gets hiccups too - its funny as you can see my belly going up and down, makes my colleagues giggle anyway. Also getting lots of movement now as baby is 36 weeks and obv a heffer!
Havent had the hot skin though - have you googled it to find out more - anyone else got any ideas?

40Weeks · 19/10/2006 13:00

OK I am off for a bikini wax now. Am pooping it - isnt that silly when you think I will have to push a small person through my cervix in a few weeks. But I hate getting it done. I hope the midwives appreciate it!
