I get a hot patch but not when I have eaten, its usually in the evening when he is more active. The squirming is happening quite alot here too and can be uncomfortable sometimes more squirming than kicks now ! LO has been pretty quiet today though must keep an eye out Mmmm

saralou100 · 19/10/2006 13:04

my hot patch is particularly bad after eating spicy noodle soup ... also in the evenings when lo is active..maybe it's to do with that?

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 13:29

I think I read that hiccups are caused by the baby swallowing the amniotic fluid, which is supposed to be a very good sign.

I remember hearing something about a hot patch in my last pregnancy, don't think it was anything to worry about, but can't remember exactly what it is. I am actually the other way, my bump always feels cold, even though I feel warmer all over, to touch the bump is cold.

purpleluce · 19/10/2006 13:31

Have no hot patch but interested to hear it but have to say I nearly fell off my chair laughing at the Spam diet tips NJ. Did they have "very pregnant" listed as one of the reasons?!

DD in nursery and thinking of an afternoon cinema visit to celebrate first day of mat leave.

I know I'm a bit behind.......

Debz: I know how exactly how you feel. My DH came into the bedroom to find me crying on the bed, because he hadn't 'instinctively' known that he should have come and and found me and given me a hug after I had been absent from the room for 20 mins!

I whinged that I never see him any more and he doens't cuddle me enough! He replied gently that he hugs me all the time - which he does, but I was totally inconsolable!

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 13:47

LOL Purpleluce, I think I might write them a reply with my advice -

Hot tip no.1: Give birth, instant weight loss of anything up to 15lb if not more!!!

I bet you would be looking at cosmetic surgery to loose as much weight as that instantly any other way! It is a shame it leaves behind the most disgustingly gross 'sack' of a belly, and that you feel like someone has blown your insides apart, else you could actually enjoy it!

Charleesunnysunsun · 19/10/2006 14:00

Afternoon ladies and babies

Im actually pleased to say im having an ok kind of day! (don't all faint in shock) im actually not moaning for once!

I slept quite a bit last night except getting up like usual at about 4pm to be sick but i got back to sleep and stayed there untill 7am this morning which was a treat for me!

Ds went into playschool with no fuss and had a great day and i won £7 on a scratch card in tesco! (the little things make me smile!)

I spent yesterday evening on my hands a knees, very elegant and deffo felt baby move to somewhere so maybe its turned already? Who knows!

Im deffo binning this top though i have had 3 people say to me today 'are you pregnant?' and then when i said yes 'ih great i didn't want to offend you incase you were just fat!'

I think its becuase bump has dropped and is now looking slightly more saggy but really what would they have done if i wasn't pregnant!

My cousin has just announced she's pregnant and she's the blue eyed girl so everyone can;t stop talking about it, how great she's looking, how neat her bump is compared to mine (she's only 12 weeks!) all that crap but im in a good mood today so i don't give a crap! (Charlee sticks tounge out in childish manner!)

I hope everyone else is ok i would reply to you all individualy but there is far to many of you! So im just going to say for those who are suffering i feel for you and just think you don;t have long to go and you just know it will be worth it! And those of you having a fab time you lucky buggers!

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:26

Charlee, it feels good to have a bit of respite doesn't it?! And there is a mum at DS school she is a week ahead of me, but her bump is all small and round and lovely, looks lovely until you spot the ciggarette hanging out of her mouth almost being spat out along with all the swear words. We live literally across the road from the school, and we are fully double glazed but when I get back in, I can hear her mouth all the way up the street screeching and swearing at her two little ones Anyway, the moral is... people with small neat bumps aren't always going to be the better person!

Has anyone got, or already done, one of those belly plaster cast things? Or anything like that? Had nice photos taken or had your bump painted?

saralou100 · 19/10/2006 14:32

the only person photographing this bump is dp.. and i'm fully clothed!! you thinking of having something done then?

i had professional shots done when ds was 5 weeks old, one of them i had my top off.. very embarassing, and it was mil who did it!! (i did get air brushed though.. loved that!!)

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 14:32

NJ My bump as a whole is generally quite cold to touch apart from this little hot patch that I get when LO is in active mode !

chubley · 19/10/2006 14:33

I'm also behind, have just been catching up while DD's asleep and DS is at nursery.

Mygirl, sorry to hear your carpal tunnel came back last night (mine's not related to blood pressure - it started in August I think, when my BP was quite low, as it goes in mid-preg. In the last month my BP's gone up but not gone high, same as last time) and Debz, sorry to hear yours has got worse. I must have plenty of extra blood to be sending all this fluid into my wrists and lower legs! I'm not worried yet, just keeping an eye on the swelling. Curiously, I've not had leg cramps in my calves at night like I did in prev 2 pregs.

LadyAnne, sorry to hear your BP's high. A friend had that and was told to rest, she managed to do that at home (with a DD nearly 4!). Hope it does the trick.

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:37

I have bought one of those belly cast things, and will leave the photos till the baby is here. Was just interested if anyone had any other plans really.

I don't know when to do the cast thing, my bump is changing on an almost daily basis at the moment, so I want to leave it till as close to the birth as possible without missing it, but don't know if I should have a go this weekend with what has gone on this week.

saralou100 · 19/10/2006 14:40

ooooh, that sounds like fun, and messy! i don't think my bump can get any bigger.. but it keeps suprising me!!

saralou100 · 19/10/2006 14:41

all my boys have gone to sleep.. the house is very quiet!

chubley · 19/10/2006 14:49

My bump's also cold. Usually chicken out of a bump photo till the very end when contractions are starting!

Hi Purpleluce, you were asking about 2nd babies. I'm expecting my third. Well, labour with my first (DS) was officially noted as 4 hrs 45 (tho it felt more like 6). It took 1hr 20 to push him out. 2nd time with DD, they reckoned it was 1 hr 45! Maybe a bit longer - mopre like 2-2.5 hrs (20 mins to push). DS was back to back so would have been quicker if he hadn't been, he turned round as I was using the ball and on hands and knees, changing positions.

So at times I'm sh!tting myself that this one will get here before I can get myself to the hospital. But I get a fairly long build-up to labour, once irregular contractions start they don't stop for me. With DS the build-up was about 19 hrs, with DD it was 9, so maybe 4-5 this time.

DD was a lot heavier, 8lbs 5 so this next one might be 9lbs or more! Yikes!!!!

NJ - cast sounds like fun! think I would need 2 kits though... Have got no photos of bump though may get some at the wedding Saturday.

Charlee - so pleased to hear you are feeling beter and have had a better night / day. Know what you mean about your cousin. I am the first grandchild to get pg but because DP & I refuse to get married (various reasons) we have been frowned upon. My cousin has announced she is getting married next year so there have been comments such as "at least X has got it the right way round" Grrrr think I will join you in the tounge poking out!

LadyAnne - rest up now you are on leave, glad to hear your work are being so good about it. Look after yourself

I decided to call doctors for an appointment about the sweeling (it's not getting any better .. slightly worse if anything) No appointments, so I now have to wait for the doctor to ring me to decide if I should come in for an emergency appointment, thing is he probably wont call until after surgery this evening, which will be too late for today so will probably have to wait until at least the morning !

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 15:19

Oopps should have said swelling !

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 15:25

Podglet, the kit I got has about 6 rolls of the plaster stuff, I reckon you would need to be at least a size 24 (before pregnancy) for it not to be enough.

I think we might give it a whirl at the weekend, I don't want to go into labour and then realise we didn't do it. I probably won't ever be pregnant again, so won't get another chance.

40Weeks · 19/10/2006 15:56

Debz - is the doc your GP? He might be better than mine but mine told me that he couldnt diagnose the swelling so it might be better just going to the hospital - call them up and ask them to see you instead as they are far better qualified - or when your doc calls you just ask him to write you a referral to the hospital right away rather than making you see him - this is what happened to me and by the time I got to the hospital, all the radiologists had gone home for the weekend but the labour ward wouldnt let me home all weekend and it all ended up being a bit of a storm in a tea cup! They are cautious which is good but I wanted to cry when they told me at 9pm I couldnt go home (I had been there since 3!)
