Sexonlegs · 26/10/2006 17:12

Hiya ladies, I work in HR and as has been said, it is definitely based on the due date being on or after 1st April and tht will be on your MATB1 form from your midwide nearer the time.
I am happy to answer any other HR/mat related questions as well if you like.
Hope you are all well today.
I am so lucky in that my friend is my midwife. She shouldn't be really, as she is no loger a community midwife, and therefore it doesn't fall in to her remit. But she was more than happy to look after me again. Our appointments are all about tea and cake!!
Anyway, need to head as have to sort out tea for dd.
See you later. xx

bubblez · 26/10/2006 17:20

Hello all,

welcome newbies!

Congrats doghouse on your clear results

Littlefrog am very jealous of your lack of bump, i get the "your only 4months!! wow you've grown fast".

Tilli I am just like you 24 but worse then a 4 year old when it comes to suprises and xmas... it's so bad that my dp had to disquise my 'mum' ring by putting it in two boxes and stuffing it with tissue so I wouldn't guess it was a ring.

Well I felt my first flutterings today . A lot earlier than with dd.
I have my downs and spinal abifida blood screenings on the 1st of nov and my 20week scan if all is well on the 21st of Nov. Oh and I will def ask to find out if im having pink or blue. Baby permitting.

How is everyone else
16+3

pesha · 26/10/2006 17:25

I cant decide whether to find out or not, it would be really helpful to know as i have 1 dd and 1 ds already in a 3 bed house so 1 of them is going to have to end up sharing, at moment dd has the big room ds the small one so if its a boy they are gonna have to swap so would be so much easier to have that organised and rooms redecorated before bump arrives. But then i dont know that id trust a scan enough to redecorate on its say so anyway. but if im having the scan and the sonographer (is that right?) knows then im gonna have to know too!!
I wouldnt tell anyone though, ive had a fairly luke warm reaction so far anyway being its my 3rd, i think if everyone knew what it was before it was born there'd be no interest at all! Thats probably a bit harsh but noones gonna want a phone call at 2 in the morning just to tell them how much it weighs!!
It was all so much simpler with the last 2, hospital policy then was that they wouldnt tell you so i didnt have the option of finding out.

Baby gave me 3 big kicks this morning when i was lying in bed, i could feel it pushing up on my right side right up by my belly button then it gave these 3 big kicks that actually made me jump!! Was very exciting, makes it seem that much more real

bubblez · 26/10/2006 17:29

ohhhhh how lovely pesha.... i cant wait till my flutterings become more definate and more like kicks....

how many weeks are you now?

maveta · 26/10/2006 17:45

Hello all,

Just wanted to introduce myself.. I'm 29, DH 30, this is our first baby and I'm 14 + 1 weeks and we live in Spain - I think I saw another expat somewhere down the page??
I might not be on here too often but am going to try and pop by as often as I can, looks like a nice place to hang out!
I've not had a chance to read all the post but hopefully will catch up at some stage!
Really excited about all of this but it feels like it's going so slowly at the moment, just looking forward to getting a bump (just flab right now) and feeling the baby move.. when when WHEN?
Am I in my second trimester yet, does anyone know?

CaptainDippy · 26/10/2006 17:50

Would LOVE to have an independant mw, but definitely cannot afford it - Perhaps you could look into having a Doula?? Much cheaper and I've heard they are very very good!!??

Glad you are feeling so much better 1becomes3 - All hail to you doing the kitchen floor and the fridge - I bow to you!!

Only had ONE CUSTOMER in the shop today!! Was starting to loose the will to live by the end of the shift, but it was sort of nice to have some "alone time", iykwim!!?

Best go and start getting bath for DD's .....

CaptainDippy · 26/10/2006 17:51

Hello and Welcome to you and your Bean maveta - ClariceBean who is on this thread lives in Spain too - Ooooh, lots of !!

weeonion · 26/10/2006 17:56

pesha - how many weeks are you?

bubblez · 26/10/2006 17:58

Hiya maveta and welcome, I didn't feel my first baby move until I was 20 weeks and I felt this one move today at 16+3. I know it seems like forever to wait.

weeonion · 26/10/2006 18:05

hiya maveta - welcome to this thread. nice to have you join us :-} i think you are in yr second trimester after 13 1/2 weeks - but hey i could be wrong

15 weeks 1 day here

pesha · 26/10/2006 19:15

Im 14+6 today so it was bit of a shock!, I've been feeling slight movements since about 13 1/2 wks but they were just like pressure really, feeling it push against me i think but these actually made me jump and say ooh!! Woke dp up and told him to see if he could feel it himself cos they felt that strong, he put his hand there for bout 10 seconds then said oh he wont do it for daddy, rolled over and went back to sleep!
I didnt quite belive the first movements i felt, ive never really believed people when they say they've felt things really early but they carried on often enough for me to be sure and i recognise it so clearly. With dd i 1st felt her move at 17 1/2 wks and ds was at 15 1/2 wks. Im not having another 1 though to see if the pattern continues, 3 is definitely enough, 4 if you count dp!

I seem to suddenly be looking really big too, although i have a bit of flab anyway so i think it just looks like im fat but its getting there

And i think weeonions right about 2nd trimester, ive always thought its somewhere around 13 wks, i would say by 14 wks you definitely are anyway.

1becomes3 · 26/10/2006 19:23

captaindippy- Didn't catch who you were talking to about the doula. Anyway if you or anyone needs information about doula's there is a lovely woman on the multiples page who is one.

I'm sure she would be more than happy to answer any questions. She goes by the name MarsLady, she is very friendly and loves a good chat.
You could start a thread on there to talk to her or there is a daily chat thread called "D'ya eva wonder".

CaptainDippy · 26/10/2006 19:31

I was responding to shoeshoppers early question about independant mws. Yes, you should speak to MarsLady if you would like to know more about Doulas etc - She is an absolutely fabulous personage and comes with my full approval!!

EllieK · 27/10/2006 00:33

PINK RAKE

EllieK · 27/10/2006 01:07

MEET UP - maybe we could have several so that no-one has to travel too far and swap pics?
somerset, scotland, london, birmingham, manchester sort of thing?
feeling the odd movement, the butterflies feeling! and ds was 9lb 3oz so i'm not at all surprised to be getting big, expecting this one to be at least 10lb!!!!!

weeonion · 27/10/2006 09:51

it looks like the tartan crew are a step ahead - hoping to meet up next sunday!!! how exciting!

GMM - how'd u get on?

runnyhabbit · 27/10/2006 09:58

Morning all

LOL at the though of me running Shoeshopper No, the nickname came from dh - he was very drunk one night and got his words muddled and this name has since stuck! Although, fil says I've got the right body shape for running no, he's not weird, just a retired athletics coach who thinks everyone should exercise!

Glad everyone is starting to feel a bit better. But very of all those whose energy is back. Hope dh doesn't read any of this, otherwise he'll want to know why I'm not cleaning the kitchen (or anywhere else in the house for that matter)

Ds was very very cute last night - he came up to me, patted and kissed bump for the first time, and then tried to put his arms around my belly. I had tears in my eyes. Just know he's going to be wonderful big brother (just like his dad) Or am I looking at life through rose-tinted specs again

16+3 today
x

Shoeshopper · 27/10/2006 10:14

Thanks, I'll look up marslady .. I like this Doula idea ... the cost of independent midwife just too hectic I'm afraid (much as I'd love the continuity of treatment).
Am starting to feel a bit like a human being again, but still wish I didn't have to go to work! Could sleep for the world!

Shoeshopper · 27/10/2006 10:15

Runnyhabit, its a good positive nick name .. you never know, you may start running in May or June next year??!!

geordiemacminx · 27/10/2006 10:17

Morning all...

Not had time to read through what I've missed yet, will catch up soon though!!!

Things with me are fine, had the scan yesterday, apparently I have a lovely healthy little baby that was dancing around like a good un!! I've been dated as around 14 weeks but I know, I'm not quite as far as yet, and it doesnt really matter as LO will come whenever!!

It was lovely to have my mum there, she cried from the word go bless her!!! Had a nice relaxing day, bi of shopping, lunch, snoozes on the sofa!! Was sick again last night

Hope everyone is well!!!

Hiya ladies, hope everyone is well.
Glad things went well Geordie - sound like you had a lovely day too - apart from puking of course.

I am still feeling sick, although haven't been, and my skin is awful - I look like a spotty teenager. Has anyone else's skin gone bad?

Anyway, have a lovely day all, and catch up later on. xx

geordiemacminx · 27/10/2006 11:07

And there was me thinking I was the only one in!!!

Yep my skin is abolutely rubbish too... really dry but lots of horrible spots on my face chest and back - I look like a troll... whoever said that you bloom in the second trimester deserves a slap!!!

OP posts:
Sexonlegs · 27/10/2006 11:17

I'm here. I am at work, and bored to tears. Luckily I have my own office so I can spend hours on the internet!
Yep, I have a patch of dry skin on my face, but it has little pimples in amongst it all - sooooo attractive!
I am definitely not blooming yet. I look knackered and have a kind of grey palour to my skin! Love it!!

maveta · 27/10/2006 11:24

I've had quite a few little spots lately, it probably wouldn't be so bad if I would just leave them alone!

Day off today and off to Body Balance in 10 minutes. Damn. I was hoping saying it aloud would make it easier to do.

urrrrrrrrrff.

weeonion · 27/10/2006 11:36

morning folks! sorry to say i am glad to hear that i am not the only one with dodgy skin - it is sooooooo dry. i feel like i have to walk around with a tub of cream to hand to avoid flakage - yeauch! maybe i should just move onto lard......
