Definately been a rollercoster aince been trying since July 2013! Grin Grin Being poorly is the worst! Especially in early pregnancy! We havent told anybody yet, so hard not too but want to see how far we are first :D
Have you all told family and friends yet?

Claire1987bh · 04/10/2014 17:25

Has anyone heard from their midwife yet for there first appointment?

I have a scan on Thursday and I think I will be about 6+5/6 or 7. And we will then tell our parents then. We have held of as it will be their first grandchild so they would be over excited. We have bought both sets a " your first grandchild book" to put a scan photo in and when it's due ect. And a auntie book for my sister. Then a uncle book to send over to Dubai for husbands brother.

cuphat · 04/10/2014 20:52

Wow, twinkles - hope your scan goes well.

I haven't heard anything, but when i was expecting DD the first appointment
(booking in) was at the same time as the 12 week scan. I think they've changed it since then though.

We've told immediate family only as we would tell them if anything went wrong anyway. I'm not getting too excited until after the 12 week scan.

Swifey · 05/10/2014 07:05

Welcome Twinkles and congratulations! And to anyone else new that I may have missed!
The sickness is creeping in for me too, well, nausea, not sick! When I was pregnant with ds I had the most hideous nausea until I was 36 weeks, but was only sick a handful of times, I really hope that's not the way we are going this time. I am currently lying in bed, luckily dh has got up and has taken ds downstairs to watch the 'racey cars', aka the Grand Prix! I can hear the seagulls too, as I am doubly lucky, because as well as a lie in I am also on holiday in south devon, and it's lovely. Although I have just looked at the weather, and there is a severe weather warning for this area for tomorrow and Tuesday, so that will be fun ;-)
I hope everyone has a really relaxing Sunday, and you poor girls who are sick already, I hope you manage to keep something down, gallons of sparkling water always helped me a bit! Xx

twinkles11 · 05/10/2014 13:36

I refered myself to one to one midwives and they were in contact within 24 hours (they say 48 hours but she was super speedy)
I cant wait to tell family but DH thinks its bad luck. Have ordered DS a top that says "im going to be a big brother" and just see how long it takes everyone to click xD
Feeling very tired and short tempered today, roll on bed time!!
Hope everyone ia putting their feet up and having a relaxing sunday!!! x

Hello everyone, can I please join this thread? This is my first post although I have been lurking on Mumsnet for a while (ever since a random Google search threw up a link to a very funny thread in Classics that kept me sniggering for days!).

This is my first pregnancy and my EDD is 29 May 2015. I have had some moments of nausea over the last week and but it has got much worse today and I have been sick a couple of times. Currently trying out motion sickness wrist bands which seem to have put a stop to the vomiting although I still feel hungover (not that I have touched a drop for a while). I hope everyone else is coping ok with "morning" sickness.

MrsMigginslovespies · 05/10/2014 20:02

Oooh Jaggy, thank you for reminding me; I have motion sickness wrist bands too from last time. Must dig them out as have felt nauseous quite a bit over past few days, not helped by dog's horrendous dodgy tum still, poor pup.
Anyhoo, welcome and congratulations to all the new ladies on here :)
Off to put feet up and watch Downton x

Claire1987bh · 07/10/2014 15:22

With the SeaBands did you wear them all day? or take them off at night as back on in the morning?

berylandbetty · 07/10/2014 18:50

Hi everyone.

I had my first morning sickness 'attempt' this morning (nothing in my stomach so not actually sick). But really hope it's not too bad over the next few weeks as I have a couple of big work trips I have to get through. I like the motion sickness bands though. Might give them a try whilst on the plane.

Anyone else feeling guilty about work? I haven't told my boss yet but we are starting to plan for next year and I hate the fact I can't mention anything yet.

I'm also feeling tired though waking up in the night for a couple of hours is really not helping!

How is everyone else doing?

I've not heard from the midwife yet or any details about a scan but I only went to the doctors last week. How long do you normally have to wait for them to get in touch? Xx

Claire1987bh · 07/10/2014 19:40

I bought some today..... so far so good!

I have not heard from a midwife yet.

I did get a phone call thought from the dr about the flu jab.

I have had to tell work due to changes we are making within the office... And the fact we work so close any little change is magnified.

JaggyThistleLovesArchie · 07/10/2014 20:27

I haven't told my work either (nor anyone else for that matter but will hopefully tell both sets of grandparents this weekend). I feel a wee bit guilty too as they are planning for next year at the moment. I am sure they will cope - I have done a share of picking up colleagues' files while they are on mat leave.

Looking forward to telling the grandparents. This will be my parent's first grandchild so I expect they will be quite excited. DH's parents have two grandchildren already but DMIL was hinting recently that she enjoys her grandchildren a lot and would like more so I expect they will be chuffed too.

I have given up on the motion sickness bands - not doing much for me unfortunately. I hope they work better for everyone else.

MrsMigginslovespies · 08/10/2014 15:39

I wore mine all the time but have annoyingly instantly lost one when I took it off to shower. No idea where it's gone but suspect toddler has something to do with it. Can't say they have made a massive difference either but will plug on with them. Meh. Am currently making chilli and the mince smell is awful.

I can't wait to properly start telling people. Less than 2 weeks now till scan day which is exciting (will be just over 8 weeks then). Hope all is ok in there.

X

Claire1987bh · 09/10/2014 16:50

So today I have a scan due to previous dull ache which was a corpus luteum cyst... this is now Haemorrhagic/collapsing - that is a good thing even thought it sounds a bit nasty.

They have now dated me 6+2.....I thought I was nearer 7 but i only ever new my last ovulations date not previous period.

attached is baby with a heart beat :)

Very glad to hear news of heartbeats, fingers crossed for the next few days. Have been very offline this week as have been feel really rough, struggling through my teaching days with great difficulty, not being sick but just constant nausea that makes me unwilling to move around or eat. Ghastly. Bought some travel bands at Boots yesterday - placebo or not, they are working amazingly!! Still feeling a bit rubbish, but able to enjoy being outdoors with DP and DS and managing to feel like eating and drinking which I'm sure helps anyway. I know that it doesn't help everyone, and I have NO IDEA how it actually does anything - but for those who have not yet tried it, I say get to Boots tomorrow and give it a whirl. Feel totally able to face the week now. (Whilst also of course being paranoid that I feel better because something has gone wrong with the pregnancy. Goes with the territory, I guess!)

Hello! Um, only just been told about Mumsnet! 42 year old, preggers first time 7+4. EDD 31st May :-) Had a bit of bleeding (no pain) so had scan at 6+2. All seemed in the right place but no heartbeat found so another scan next week. Trying to stay calm.

Also worried my breasts may take over my flat as I was a FF before I got pregnant and at 7 weeks I'm a G already. How high do these blimmin letters go??!

Daisy17 · 15/10/2014 17:16

Welcome, Knaydlach! There are several of our number waiting for early scans to reassure them all is ok. Handholding. Thanks

Really enjoying everyone's stories. crimebuster123 - me too! It was ONLY when I was eating I didn't feel ill!

Woke up this morning and thought, eh? I don't feel sick! After the mild panic that this was actually bad news, I googled and it seems that sickness often subsides from week 8 (2 days away for me) OMG I feel SO much better. I might even go for a walk in the sunshine this afternoon Smile To all those who can hardly move without feeling they're gonna vomit, mine just lifted like that. Hope it does for you too soon. Grin

JaggyThistleLovesArchie · 16/10/2014 21:36

Tori: excellent news!

Knaydlach: I did exactly the same thing today! I felt reasonably ok and wasn't sick this morning for the first time in a few weeks. Moment of "oh this is nice, I can brush my teeth without pausing midway through to hurl" followed by "oh no, I hope everything is ok in there" and the associated panic. I am 8 weeks today. Hopefully this is a sign of it improving rather than just a temporary blip.

I told my boss yesterday and he was very lovely about it. Not told anyone else at work yet and my boss knows I want to keep it quiet for a few more weeks in case something goes wrong. My parents were on holiday last weekend so I haven't managed to tell them yet (I want to tell them in person rather than over the phone). I am seeing them on Saturday and my gran as well so I am looking forward to sharing the news.

Thank god tomorrow is Friday! I am knackered. I didn't realise this growing a human thing was so exhausting.

Daisy17 · 17/10/2014 17:16

Oh thank for the weekend!!!!!
