Sorry congrats mum2 on becoming an auntie Smile.

fedupofrainydays · 03/09/2014 08:10

Woken up tired and stressed this morning. Although due to move back to house on Monday - only a few rooms will be ok. So still have the builders around me making dirt and dust. So tired of it and goes against this urge to get everything ready for baby. HV would be horrified. Just cried on DH as he goes away tomorrow and I feel just left with it all to cope with. Ds was up til 10.30 last night as wouldn't sleep. Just don't know how I'm going to cope. And nice fucked my knee up too so walking is hard. All in all just feeling very Sad today

mrsb87 · 03/09/2014 08:18

goats don't talk about baths :-( mine is being fitted this weekend, week later than schedule. I have my "mum and me" bath soak ready for action!
Ugh I too had an awful nights sleep, up 4 times with either heartburn, needing to pee or hip ache. I guess it's all good practice!
Good luck for your last day binky, I personally couldn't wait to get out of there and luckily it was too busy for anyone to make a fuss! We had some kind of elderflower fizzy stuff before I left on the shop floor. A customer came to the till with a refund and I refused my last transaction to be a bloody refunded! Lol.

SweetPeaPods · 03/09/2014 08:22

Binky what are you planning to batch cook in the foil containers?
I'm lacking inspiration. Need to also make room in freezer! So far I thought of lasagne, cottage pie, fish pie. Anyone have any good casserole or one pot recipes?
I'm really tired today, and have a very bad case of can't be bothered-itis. Can't wait to finish work.

mrsb87 · 03/09/2014 08:27

sweetpea Jamie Oliver's beef and ale or pork and cider are 2 of my favourites. Great done in the slow cooker too. Unfortunately dh is veggie so I won't be indulging in these lovely treats Sad

ohthegoats · 03/09/2014 08:37

My boyf is a veg - I'm going to cook for the freezer for me on mat leave - my lunch time food, quick in the microwave.

SweetPeaPods · 03/09/2014 08:45

Thanks mrsb I'll have a look.
My SiL makes a good butternut squash and goats cheese lasagne I'm going to try get a copy of the recipe.

STIGZ · 03/09/2014 09:11

Oh forgot to say congratz on being an auntie again mum2 Smile. Bet you cant wait to get cuddles ?? ... I think when you approach your date and you see a newborn, its hard to comprehend that you have a one just like them inside youHmm

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 03/09/2014 09:13

Crappy nights sleep here too thanks to a 2am counting session from DS at the top of his voice! Took me forever to get back to sleep cos my tummy seemed to have filled with air much like a sheep when it lays down too long! Anyone get that?

Fedup, hugs for you, that doesn't sound nice Sad. I was talking to a lady with 3 kids under 5 yesterday & she said you just muddle through cos that's all you can do but its totally worth it in the end!

Congratulations to your sister mum, how annoying that the midwife left her though!

bumpbangbump · 03/09/2014 09:13

Congrats mum2 on becoming an auntie again. Glad everything went smoothly even if she did deliver at home without the midwife. Sounds like your sis is a bit of a warrior!!!

Another with a terrible nights sleep. I had a terrible nightmare that my ds was trapped on one of those moving floors you get in airports. Like a flat escalator. His leg had something over it that was cutting right into him and was just so scared and upset and in pain. I had to get up and sit in his bed for a bit stroking his little legs to make myself feel better!! I even drank 2 pints of water so I'd be sure to wake up again really soon. So horrible! I can't wait to be done with the vivid pregnancy dreams!!

I'm dreading going back into work after the summer hols. I really hate my college at the moment and can't imagine being very motivated for my last 2 weeks. First day back tomorrow.

In better news I have my 36 week mw appt today and my late night water consumption means my wee is lovely and light and clear!

binkybunny · 03/09/2014 09:18

Sweetpea if you get that recipe could you share it? I'm cooking veggie/ fishy stuff just in case I don't go back to eating meat straight away. Today I'm making chestnut and fennel casserole, although not in the foil containers, will stick it in a plastic tub to go in the microwave.

In the next few weeks I'm going to make fish pie, chickpea dijonnaise (hope it freezes, never tried!) salmon and asparagus lasagne, porcini lasagne and lots of crumbles. Also lots of mini cakes to freeze which I can either defrost or heat up with custard/ chocolate sauce etc. Prob shouldn't have so many desserts in the house if I want to shift the baby weight, but I think in the next few months it will be nice to have some comfort food if feeling a bit fed up.

I'm also going to get my Christmas cake, pudding and stuffing done so it's out of the way. Hoping I'll find time to decorate my cake in December as I have an amazing design idea!

SweetPeaPods · 03/09/2014 09:27

Binky of course. They all sound fab!

mum2kiss · 03/09/2014 09:29

You guys are amazing with all this batch cooking...I don't want to cook...ever again...lol!

My sis lives over 2hrs away so won't be seeing baby until after this one is born because I just can't make he journey! So exhausted all the time! Will have to make do with Skype for now. Thanks for all the congrats though :) my brother and his girlfriend are expecting in November, and dps sil is expecting in January...a lot of babies this year!

Another one with a crap nights sleep. I had continuous tummy ache and just couldn't sleep. Ended up sat on the edge of the bed with a big swollen hard tum! I think it's digestive related. I cancelled my hydrotherapy class this morning as I just could face the early departure!

binkybunny · 03/09/2014 09:32

mum2 this is what I have planned... whether it actually happens is a completely different story. The sofa/ my bed might just be too tempting to move from for the next 4 - 6 weeks!

Awww that's such a shame you won't get to see your sister, but it will be lovely when you get together with your little ones! Making me wish I lived closer to my family Sad

I don't blame you on the early start, I wish they'd make appointments at a reasonable time for pregnant women- like 2pm Grin

Hope everyone that's woken up feeling rubbish feels better today

Me23 · 03/09/2014 09:54

I had crappy night too. Heartburn and needing to pee every 5 minutes.
stigz I know how you feel I am dreading the sleepless nights with a newborn then having to function in the day. It just doesn't compare to the sleepless nights you get when pregnant.
Sorry to the 1st timers for te downer, I've just had awful sleepers and there is nothin worse than sleep deprivation, a lot of babies sleep quite well though but even so those first few weeks are always a shock to the system. It's great you are all getting prepared and batch cooking I need to get on with some myself though I hate cooking. I'm veggie will have to look for some nice recipes.

fatpony · 03/09/2014 10:17

binky how do frozen sponge cakes turn out? I didn't realise you could freeze them! [dreams of sponge cake baking day].

Sorry for all of you with house renovations going on, but think of how lovely it will be when finished.

I've got loads of baby books, none of which I have read [apart from French Children Don't throw Food as it's a light read] but plan to on my ten days leave before baby is due to arrive. Better do some speed reading!

fatpony · 03/09/2014 10:20

for those of you with veggie partners I have a good recipe for lentil loaf (surprisingly tasty) which freezes very well - once it's cooked and removed from the loaf tin I just wrap in foil or freezer paper and put it in the freezer.

The other veggie staples I do for the freezer are soup (of course) and daals/spinach and chickpea/lentil curries/pasta sauces etc.

mrsb87 · 03/09/2014 10:30

I've made a chilli yesterday, and plan on making curries etc for dh. I might make myself a few meaty treats for the freezer like lasagne. Hmm food. I'm hungry!

binkybunny · 03/09/2014 10:43

Ooo good to know chickpeas freeze, I wasn't too sure.

I've never defrosted cake to use as a cake, I've always used it as a sponge dessert heated up with sauce, but I know the in-laws quite often use defrosted sponge cake. I'd imagine with fresh buttercream it would be fine. I'll find out when we have our first lot of visitors and try to serve it to them!

Lentil loaf sounds nice, do you have a link to the recipe?

STIGZ · 03/09/2014 11:02

Very impressed with this talk of cooking & freezing ... Im afraid my appetite is at an all time lowSad i dont fancy anything what so ever, i hate this feeling !! I remember after my c/sec i didnt have an appetite either and DP would be constantly worried about my lack of food, i was size 12/14 when i got pregnant and by time baby was 6 weeks old i had to wear size 8 jeans Shock once i was fit and well enough to indulge in the empty calories that wine provides followed by an indian curry on a weekly basis .,. my size 12 jeans found me again Grin

Me23 · 03/09/2014 11:25

fatpony omg the meals you are planning have me salivating! Do you have any links to them?

I have had enough of the iron poo it's so gross! And everyone thinks iron is constipating I could do with some constipation right now as it gives me the opposite effect.

Food to poo in one post! How lovely.

YellowWellies · 03/09/2014 11:26

Stigz Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin my size 12 jeans always have a habit of catching up with me too! Though when dairy free I'm a comfortable 10.

Binky if you are up serving homemade sponge cakes to visitors with a newborn you'll make the rest of womankind look bad. Sit down, attach baby to boob, and scoff the cakes yourself. Smile

I had good news and bad news at the hospital today. Baby is head down! That manic movement I felt the other night must have been successful! And the wee bugger ISN'T back to back. (So far!) So if I go naturally I won't automatically end up with a CS. The bad isn't really all bad either - I've been put onto insulin for the GD. The injections are actually much less sore than the blimmin finger prick. The positive side of that is I'll be induced or CS at 38 weeks if I've not already had the baby so I will miss the last few cetacean uncomfortable weeks of being preggers again - and meet baby, at the latest on the 11th October Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile .

Doc said if I go before 34 weeks they'll give me drugs to try to stop labour but any later and I'll just be allowed to get on with it. As I left he said "Don't worry I won't be seeing you in labour for another month Mrs Yellowwellies enjoy the rest of your pregnancy" - which is exactly what the paed said 2 days before I went into labour with J Confused .

Bump has been told anytime post 34 weeks (excluding referendum voting day!!!!) is fine Smile

I generally feel like shot today...

me23 iron tablets have the same effect on me...tummy cramps and far too regular in the number 2s department. I was prescribed 3 a day but have been taking 1 (When I remember)...had another blood test last week and the surgery called to say my iron is still low so apparently 1 tablet is not enough! The shit type feeling today is making me think they must be right because I feel so tired and don't want to do anything so will have to up the dosage :(
