If I make 3 weeks at work it'll be a miracle. I'm going to start thinking of it in terms of days. 15 days at school. 13 when the kids are back. Of those 13 I'm only in class for 6 on my own, and then another 4 with my maternity cover doing the teaching while I watch/help a bit. 3 days on management handover. It feels less bad broken down like that. Only actually 6 days where I have to stand up a lot. I can do that.. yes.

I'm going to give myself a year after the birth bit to get back to normal I think. We're only going to have the one, so I have no excuse on the weight front, am looking forward to feeling fitter and more in control of my diet. I also want to be away from health care types, I'm fed up of being stuck with a needle, and fed up with being a little bit patronised the whole time. I figure by a year after birth we'll have worked out a bit more of what sort of kid we've got, how we all work together, and how we need to lead our lives as a family as a consequence of that... you know, can we travel? Can we live abroad again?

That said, I'm not wishing the next year away, I'm really looking forward to it.

PunkyBubba · 31/08/2014 19:03

Hi, another one who can't cut and paste on iPad (sorry). Could someone add me next time the list is updated please:

PunkyBubba DC2 (boy) EDD 16th October

On the subject of washing baby clothes can I just say that I started using the dettol laundry cleanser on ours and ds's clothes when he was 2.5 years old, and he had a bad skin reaction to it. He did have sensitive skin at birth but had improved a lot in general so thought it would be ok, but I think it may be too harsh for a newborn? I could be wrong though and maybe it's just those with sensitive skin.

Totally experiencing an inability to make any decisions, its driving DH nuts, he just can't understand why it takes me a good 40mins to decide what i want for dinner! I think that is part of the whole baby brain thing.

I never really got out of baby mode after DS as i knew i wanted another one quite quickly but this baby is supposed to be our last (i would like more but DH doesn't) so i guess i should be thinking about losing weight etc but i don't think it will happen somehow. I will definitely be looking to you ladies (and man!) for inspiration Grin

binkybunny · 31/08/2014 19:22

punky I'm going to wash everything again in Fairy and Comfort, I just wanted to get germs out of second hand stuff with the Dettol. It is supposed to be safe on new born but I don't want risk it.

As for not being arsed, I'm def in that. I still need to wax my lovely Annie Sloan painted furniture but no longer have the energy. Have tried a short walk the last two days and ended up in agony with back and bump and gasping for breathSad

I tried a bump band for my back, but I think I have a diva for a baby as she doesn't like anything on my bump and kept kicking/pushing against it Hmm.

Added baby Lumen in bold so we can easily see who has popped once other babies start to join us Grin

Lily31 · 31/08/2014 19:34

I'm using the mothercare bump band. It does make some difference and I need it for the 15/20 min walk from my office to the tube a couple of times a day.
My bump kicks against it too, but I think the movements just become a bit more pronounced when bubba is being held in with a bump band.
My DP likes hearing about all the mumsnet updates. Makes him feel involved too. I bought hospital snacks which I've managed to ignore since packing them. DP proceeded to remind me that we bought snacks for him too which we hadn't packed. Those have been eaten... All of them Blush

Pregnantagain7 · 31/08/2014 20:02

Thanks yellow I've decided I can't be arsed to build them tonight.

jelly think you need to change lumens birthday to August Grin sorry I would do it but I don't know how!

I've got three antenatal appointments next week which seems a bit ott and no one to watch the kids so that will be fun!!

Also in the can't be arsed camp. To do anything. I'm too lazy to even spend hours procrastinating on the internet. I think mentally, I just want to be at the 'baby's here' stage so I can stop worrying about if she's healthy etc., how it's going to be and focus on the next stage (of worrying about something else, no doubt!)

Also got three weeks left so will count down with the rest of you if I can! I've been back for 2 weeks already since summer but my head's not in it. I still have to organise my cover and leave classes for the 3 months I'll be gone but really have no motivation!

ExcitedCJ · 31/08/2014 20:30

Jelly & Portico good on you pair for putting Lumen on, looks more real now! :) yayyy!!! Not long now to meet my new boy!

Lily you are very welcome to join me & Goats for 3 week work countdown, anyone else???

ExcitedCJ · 31/08/2014 20:31

X post... Portico 3 weeks to go too, great to have a few of us..

Kirstipops · 31/08/2014 20:38

I haven't had dinner yet and I'm dreaming of what snacks I'll pack for hospital, what goodies are you guys packing/have you packed and unpacked and eaten and niw have to re-buy and pack Grin, inspire me....

ExcitedCJ · 31/08/2014 20:59

Colin caterpillars all the way, sports water, lucozade, straws, bananas & a packet of Maryland cookies. My DH can sort himself out!
I need more inspiration too, if I had a freezer I would take crunchie ice cream bars, I'm obsessed with them!

Shirehobbit · 31/08/2014 21:00

Three more working weeks here, too. Today is the first time I've begun to question whether I'll make it.

YellowWellies · 31/08/2014 21:05

Mump mump grump with the GD I'll be labouring on fecking water! All of my isotonic lucozade and glucose tabs are exactly what I won't be allowed Envy

OP posts:
ohthegoats · 31/08/2014 21:10

Jelly Babies and Love Hearts. That's it - mostly because I can't think about eating anything of much solid content at the moment. Might change once bump has dropped etc.

We've got a Waitrose about 100 yards from the maternity unit door - boyfriend will be dispatched accordingly when necessary.

Shirehobbit · 31/08/2014 21:17

Can I recommend including a savoury or salty snack option? You can get very sick (literally) of sweet stuff and a few salted peanuts or something similar can be a blessed relief. Especially important if you've been very sweaty.

Kirstipops · 31/08/2014 21:22

Yep I think a combo of sweet and savoury will be the way I go too, I feel sick and/or headachey if I eat too many sweets! Trying to remember what I packed for going up Nevis!!

mrsb87 · 31/08/2014 21:25

I have packed some yogurty biscuit thingies so far. My trouble is if I buy sweets or anything I WILL just eat them now. I have zero self control with sweets these days, I've never had a sweet tooth before!
The floor is finally down in the bathroom, I'm craving my bath now! So so sore I just want to relax in some warm water!

ExcitedCJ · 31/08/2014 21:26

Thanks Shire good addition! I love the salt & vinegar KP nuts. Good to know you have 3 weeks to go too, I'm also questioning if I will make it.
So 3 weeks to go at work -

5 days left at work for me- will be 37 weeks by then. Think that's enough as I have quite a stressful, full on job that doesn't involve much sitting down. Looking forward to naps and a pregnancy pamper day in a fortnight Smile
