Just don't wash in anti bacterial powder! Babies need good bacteria and anti bacterial soaps, washing powders etc obliterate the good bacteria they need to colonise their gut.

I washed any second hand stuff I got in dettol laundry cleanser as lots of it had been stored in lofts and summer houses, so I wanted to kill anything nasty. All new clothes and bedding I just washed in Fairy and Comfort, if nothing else it smells gorgeous!

Going to move from bed where I've just had a nap to garden chair, I have no energy to do anything I had planned!

ohthegoats · 31/08/2014 14:26

I just washed stuff because it smelled weird, and 4 weeks ago when I was doing all the washing, my sense of smell was going nuts. Probably by the time it's needed, it'll all smell of 'storage' again.

Back home... :( no bathroom again until Tuesday.

Has anyone bought and used a bump support type thing? Are they any good? I feel like I need something to hold in my lower bump - some leggings are OK for it, but I can't wear them the whole time. If I sort of hold on to the bump, I'm so much more comfortable for walking around, but when I'm back in class I can't keep hanging on to my gut!!

Pregnantagain7 · 31/08/2014 14:47

goats last time I was pregnant mothercare support pants were recommended to me,I didn't end up getting them can't remember why but I believe they're very good. Also they are good for after the baby as it's quite nice to have something supporting your tummy in the few weeks after the birth.

Anyone hate their dp/dh at the moment?I could quite cheerfully strangle mine at the moment I have loads of things I need him to help me with and he actually said I will help you but it needs to fit in around me going to the gym and walking the dogs! Angry
Yeah thanks for that one you absolute arse when I pointed out that he had done nothing to help get organised for this baby including moving all the kids bedrooms round, building furniture and lifting and carrying stuff he said I've paid for it all. Grrrr yes while I've been bringing up your children and everything else!

Sorry rant over Blush

Hop everyone's having a better Sunday than me.

STIGZ · 31/08/2014 15:05

Is it wrong to put this in my birth plan ?

mrsb87 · 31/08/2014 15:27

stigz yes, I could do with a cider one!
pregnant I'm afraid if my dh was acting up like that I'd be giving him a serious talking to! I'm very lucky as my dh is working very hard to look after me, run his business and refit the bathroom. I can't fault him at the moment. We've both had shitty weeks with one thing and another so we had a McDonald's to console ourselves after my gtt. Luckily they had someone on hand to take the second lot of bloods from me this time and it only took one go, she did say I was very mean with my blood though! Hehe. Somehow I managed to muster enough energy to get the food shop done on the way home from the hospital and now I'm watching the eventing world championships. It's turned into a good afternoon! I just need a big bag of crisps.....

Shirehobbit · 31/08/2014 15:40

goats - I use a cataloop support band (bought from John Lewis for about a tenner). It's no miracle cure, but definitely helps.

Anyone else having difficulty just being 'arsed' to do things?

There is plenty for me to be getting on with in my life.. not just boring DIY. But probably the last 2 months I've just lost all interest in doing anything. I could happily sit on the sofa for 8 hours a day, then go to bed. I'm not like this AT ALL when I'm not pregnant - I'm a really busy chaotic sort of person - the chaos still exists, but only because I just can't be arsed to deal with it. There are things on the coffee table that should have been put away 6 weeks ago. Can't be arsed.

sazzlehopes · 31/08/2014 17:00

Holy moly I finally catch up on the thread and there's a baby already born.
Still in denial that that won't happen to me. 36 weeks yesterday and at my 36 week appointment baby was apparently 1/5 palp...so he's right on in there which I though more unusual for second babies?
So maybe it'd be a good idea to look like we are having another child by washing baby grows, getting stuff from the loft, buying a few newborn nappies and perhaps I should pack my hospital bag?
And perhaps I should stop working too.....

Haha it'll never happen! There's so much DIY to get done first. Stay in there baby...

Oh and I'm another sneaky sept date. Can't remember who asked, but I was oct 3rd til the scan put my dates back. Hope that's ok, and we aren't being chucked off!!! I think their dates are wrong though, I'd put good money on an oct baby for me.

Kirstipops · 31/08/2014 17:12

Totally Goats, today I set myself the task of part-packing my hospital bag (waiting on other stuff being posted), moving my clothes and stuff back into our new bedroom now it's been decorated - so far I've done 2 washings and tidied the kitchen a bit...and lots of rocking on my new chair :-/

Shire's Cantaloop bump support thingie is a good one, I got it a couple of weeks ago on her suggestion and it's really good. One day I forgot to put it on during the week and I really missed it!

Kirstipops · 31/08/2014 17:14

Sazzle we're exactly the same, based on my last period I thought I was due on 3rd of October but my scan put me as due on 27th of September, I still think baby will arrive in October too though.

ohthegoats · 31/08/2014 17:35

OK, Cantaloop bump support it is. Thanks.

Pregnantagain7 · 31/08/2014 17:37

goats your right he does need agood talking to I gave him the task of helping dd with the last bits of her verbal reasoning homework easily the worst job in the house for me because it's really hard!!

yellow I have a hemnes chest of drawers to make my mum was supposed to help me but is ill was thinking of tackling alone after the kids are in bed (worried I may stab dp with a screwdriver or shove the alum key somewhere Grin did you make yours yet? Could I do it on my own?

Yes goats totally feeling that way Hmm... I feel weird, i cant even be arsed reading books or watching tv which i normally love if i get 5 mins to myself - i cant put it into words how i feel just now? I cant be bothered looking around the shops even though i have loads to buy for DD, baby & new house - i feel like i cant make a decision either... Stood in primark looking at big granny pants for about 15 mins the other day then came out with nothing? I hate food shopping as i dont fancy anything at all (except cream cakes) so cooking is my worst nightmare just now as if i do fancy something, by the time i have stood and made it, i really could put it in the bin as it turns my stomachConfused ... I cant wait to feel like "normal me" again, i honestly struggle to remember what she was like.. To be honest i think im just mentally exhausted now, a lot has happned within a year with losing my gran, my uncle having cancer, new house, new baby etc my wee brain is fried i think ? I would really love to go a retreat in arizona or something for the next month and really chill my brain out before this other wee baby arrives and steals the other half of my heartSmile

ohthegoats · 31/08/2014 18:04

I cant wait to feel like "normal me" again, i honestly struggle to remember what she was like

I could have written that! And I've switched off SO much during the school holidays, that I have no idea how I'm going to get back into it for just 3 weeks. I couldn't care less about any of it... only 6 weeks ago I LOVED my job. I think I used to like sex, cooking, making an effort with my appearance, walking anywhere, sewing, having an opinion. Now I just like googling crap to do with childbirth and sitting on my growing arse. Oh, and eating iced buns.

ExcitedCJ · 31/08/2014 18:18

Shire eeeekkk... I've done the eating all the snacks from hospital bag too! I had a full bag of cola Colin the Caterpillars from M&S last week & promptly felt sick!
STIGZ I love your birth plan, I may request a Rioja version! :) Really made me chuckle.
Whoever suggested putting Trouble & baby Lumen at the start of the roll call, great idea. Can any of you FB ladies look after the detail?
I have everything organised, will iron all the washed baby gear this week & that is me done. Bednest arrives 26th Sept & I have a washed & ironed Amby Hammock if baby comes earlier.
Must just pack hospital bag & stick it under the bed this week.
RLT & EPO starts tomorrow, I would like baby evicted by 28th Sept (our wedding anniversary!)

Pregnantagain7 · 31/08/2014 18:19

After I've had each of my children I've been on such a high obviously partly because I've had a baby but mainly because I'm not pregnant anymore!

I find it easier dealing with a newborn and the lack of sleep than I do with being pregnant. I know it's not the same for everyone but give the first few weeks with a newborn over the last few weeks of pregnancy anytime Grin

ExcitedCJ · 31/08/2014 18:23

Goats & STIGZ I can't wait to feel like normal again too, although from experience it takes a little time after to start to feel a little more normal.
Goats I have 3 weeks of work to go from tomorrow too, we can keep each other company! I finish Thursday 18th with a board meeting, talk about high pressure on my last day!

YellowWellies · 31/08/2014 18:30

Pregnant god yeah the last few weeks of pregnancy is physically harder than the first few with a newborn - (before they wake up) I loved that brief window where you blithely assume you've got a sleeper!!!! Though from memory I felt even less like the old me as a new Mum than during pregnancy due to hormones and the utter transformation of virtually every aspect of normal life. In pregnancy you lose your body - once they're born you lose your time, your body, house, peace and quiet, routine, personal cleanliness, ability to concentrate on anything else, sanity etc. I'm hoping number two won't be such a shock to the system as we both already know life won't be going back to normal - this is the new normal! Confused

goats and excited 3 weeks for me too. I think I will join the countdown with you if that's ok? I am a bit up and down at the moment. The thought of commuting by bus and tube tomorrow is making me irritable.

YellowWellies · 31/08/2014 18:37

Oh and I'm tasking DH with the hemnes drawers - he made one before on his own. I'm too lazy Blush

Shirehobbit · 31/08/2014 18:46

With mcs, I've pretty much been pregnant for three years, now. I cannot wait to reclaim my body. I don't think that makes me any less appreciative of just how lucky we are (one was a miracle, two beyond our wildest dreams) but I'm done. I'm trying to hold on to the best bits and store them as memories, and not complain too much Blush but I don't think it's unreasonable to crave for a time where I don't wake/walk/waddle in pain anymore.
