congrats casamama.
had midwife today, 39+3, was 10mins early for my appointment & had to sit for over an hour before was seen, baby is only 4/5 engaged :(
just want baby here already!

fifi669 · 07/07/2014 22:58

He's here, it wasn't half as scary as I thought it would be and he's beautiful :) in a fat, hairy, Buddha type way

Born at 13.38 weighing 8lb 1, my little chunk is Thomas and DS is very impressed with his little brother. Or was for ten minutes anyway...

ismarah · 07/07/2014 23:04

Congratulations Fifi - brilliant news!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 07/07/2014 23:18

Congratulations fifi and hello to Thomas!

GrouchyKiwi · 07/07/2014 23:19

Congratulations, fifi. Glad it all went well!

icklekid · 08/07/2014 01:48

Congratulations casamama and fifi really happy for you both and hope you and your babies are doing well!

blue is no news good news?

its I am the same pains all afternoon got very sharp in the eve kept telling myself I'm sure that they are nothing and at about 9.30 started to slow down, lying here still getting twinges and feeling sick, come on baby time to move! My bump was going mental last night lots of wobbling about!

Please don't worry about all the breastfeeding chat I'm also really interested and finding it useful!

icklekid · 08/07/2014 01:49

mummy boo to ridiculously long wait, I hope she was apologetic!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 08/07/2014 02:00

ickle - hope this is it, it seems to have been going on long enough now! Just got woken up by another one. C'mon babies! Took some paracetamol around 11.30 as couldn't sleep through pain, ended up on my ball for an hour waiting for it to kick in.

(And yes, breast feeding chat v helpful - no need to apologies guys!)

BlueC2 · 08/07/2014 02:27

Ooh, ickle and its hope things moving along better for you than they are here! Totally stalled, had about 3 contractions in an hour in the evening, went to bed and nothing again since! Fighting feeling v v fed up about the whole thing! We literally have everything ready for the homebirth set up in the living room and no DS for the night but... Nothing :( at this rate DH gonna have to go into work tomorrow and then DS will be back tomorrow evening

Huge congrats fifi and casamama fantastic news!

Definitely looks as though there'll be more news on the thread soon!

Anyone heard from zing? Really hope all's ok with her!

BlueC2 · 08/07/2014 02:31

Ps moresnow hope your night off is giving you a nice break. I got a text to say DS had settled to sleep ok which was reassuring but I do miss him a lot!

Just want things to start again, fed up of this limbo land!!

icklekid · 08/07/2014 02:34

Yep lying here in pain- not as bad as last night. Just sat up to try and stop sick feeling and getting worse now. ..I wouldn't mind if thought baby was coming but trying not to get excited! At least I've had some sleep!

icklekid · 08/07/2014 02:35

Oh dear blue just seen your posts how rubbish however there is still time... I was thinking about zing earlier and wondered if there was any news...

BlueC2 · 08/07/2014 02:45

ickle sleep is good! that is one positive thing about my night so far is that I have at least slept! Feeling nauseous is normal too, part of your body's way of coping with it all and don't be surprised if you're actually sick too as your body will want to do a massive clear out from one end or the other! Is it worth you taking some paracetamol or getting up for a bit of a walk around the living room?

I've had constant pressure and a strong period like ache since things stopped yesterday morning with the odd twinge and contraction so am confident it's all waiting to kick off again, just need to get it restarted somehow Hmm

BlueC2 · 08/07/2014 02:54

Also just remembered that last time I found kneeling on the floor hugging a pile of large cushions sat on the sofa footstool was a comfortable way of breathing through the early contractions before we went to the hospital...means you can keep your hips moving and also a good position to help baby stay in a good position, much better than lying down! ickle, its just a thought as the change of position might help with the pain, and requires a bit less coordination than trying to sit on a ball when you're so tired!

icklekid · 08/07/2014 03:09

Thanks blue yes I spent a lot of last night kneeling up on to sofa or ball, think I will try getting up and wandering around... come on baby time to get a wriggle on! Got health visitor coming today so maybe she can help!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 08/07/2014 03:17

Thanks blue - sorry it all seems to have died down for you. The only constant for me seems to be this period pain with mild contraction every 10-15 mins or so. I might keep trying to sleep for a bit longer and get up in a bit if I can't. Aware this could go on for ages so don't want to use up all my energy! I might try one of those positions you suggest too. Thinking of you both!

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 08/07/2014 03:18

Congratulations casmama and fifi.

Night feeding session here - could do with being asleep.

icklekid · 08/07/2014 03:22

its sounds like we are in very similar situations although I have now given up on sleep! Am bouncing on ball watching rubbish tv with a blanket trying not to feel tired!

lemonpoppyseed · 08/07/2014 03:29

Lemonpoppyseed jr arrived this afternoon at 3:37pm, 8lbs 5oz. Labour was a very speedy two hours from first twinge to baby out (2nd baby). Still in a bit of a daze about the whole thing! Best wishes, and similar speedy deliveries to you all!

icklekid · 08/07/2014 03:44

Ohhh congratulations lemon glad you and baby are ok, 2h is very speedy! Is it a little girl/boy?

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 08/07/2014 03:54

Another baby! Hurray and welcome to lemonpoppyseedjr.

ickle yup we do seem to be latent labour stage buddies :) Also up now and doing a bit of birth ball rolling and bouncing - hoping it will tire me out/distract me enough that I can go and doze again.

Plateofcrumbs · 08/07/2014 04:17

Congratulations casamama fifi and lemon

Also hoping all is good with zing

Been awake since 2am, must stop internet shopping and try to sleep. Musing on whether (in the absence of space for a changing table) I should get a cot top changer instead, or make do with changes on floor.

icklekid · 08/07/2014 04:29

Thanks blue yes I spent a lot of last night and again overnight kneeling up on to sofa or ball!

plate lots of friends said a cot top changer was brilliant- especially needed if had c section but better than floor even if not. Worth a look on ebay/2nd hand shops perhaps?

Plateofcrumbs · 08/07/2014 05:04

I've just found a bargainacious M&P cotbed which comes with under-cot storage and an over-cot changer, which could be just the ticket for our tiddly nursery. Productive use of insomnia!

icklekid · 08/07/2014 05:58

Ohhh sounds perfect plate I've managed another hours sleep since about 4am...honestly half of me thinks please let baby come today the other half thinks I won't have the energy today!!!
