Oooh thanks for recipe Zermatt I do love lemon drizzle.

Well so far there has been no cake! Baby doesn't seem to like cake! Day one I walked out of a bakery with a sandwich, day two I had a jam and cream scone (heaven) and so today we will see. It might only be the choice from caffe Nero unfortunately.

Zermatt so exciting it's nearly scan time. Any reason why you're worried to tell work?

Contract for my job (and therefore me!) is moving over to a completely new company and therefore new management team on 1st Aug. My scan will be due following week. Haha, I get the joy of telling a brand new employer in my first couple of weeks.

lindamagoo · 06/06/2014 13:46

I'm not a big cake fan but for the past 2 days it's all I've thought about, it's my nieces birthday party tomorrow and I'm worried i'll eat all her cake, lol

MrsBeeBeeBee · 06/06/2014 13:48

Shock Shock linda you've stolen my cake mojo! Give it back!

lindamagoo · 06/06/2014 13:51

Hehe, nope I think I'll keep it, just until next weekend then you can have it back, got 3 birthdays this week so LOTS of cake SmileSmileSmile

CallingAllEngels · 06/06/2014 14:10

Scan went really well. Measured spot on for my dates so 28th December is due date. Bean was wriggling and waving at us. Managed to get next appt early evening so DH won't have to miss work and DS can come along (the mw for our next appt will be the one who delivered him!).

Falling asleep on sofa atm while DS watches Finding Nemo but must start getting ready for prom in a minute. Hoping dress will fit and there won't be too many things I can't eat.

MW was very strict about 0 alcohol during pg. Last time I had a few glasses of wine (4! I counted!) during my pg but apparently they're campaigning right now Blush so no champers for me tonight.

Zermatt · 06/06/2014 14:15

Ooh I do love a cream tea, it's the Devonshire dumpling in me.

How long is your contract for MrsB? If you've been in your job for a while and it's an enforced move the new management team just have to lump it, but horrible having to tell new people.

I'm in a similar kind of situation, I've been in my current job for quite a few years on fixed term, and they've been wanting to make me permanent for the last couple of years (waiting for me to get a permanent visa) they were going to give me the permanent contract back in April just before I found out I was pregnant but then there has been a delay, by the time they will be ready to give me the permanent contract I will already be 16 wks, and it feels wrong not to tell them by then, but if I tell them I risk them deciding to keep me on contract until I toodle off on maternity leave, so that would mean bye bye maternity pay and bye bye job to come back to afterwards. I keep hoping they'll stay true to their word and honour their promise of permanent me, but DH thinks I'm living in cloud cuckoo land. He's quite peed off that this has happened and is a bit galled by the fact we cocked up the timing. Oh well.

MrsBeeBeeBee · 06/06/2014 14:27

Oh no Zermatt obv they aren't allowed to discriminate.... But its hard to prove isn't it? Can you not wait until after 16 weeks to tell them? Thinks its not until week 25 you need to notify employer.

I am permanent in my job and moving over to new company under all conditions of current contract so they have to honour maternity leave etc. Phew.

calling awww a Christmas baby. Lovely. Fab to see them wriggling around.
I had a couple of small glasses of wine in pregnancy last time. Will just see how I feel this time but I don't actually really drink anymore so I probably wouldn't even notice!

Go on Linda. You can keep it. Hopefully less cake will save me becoming the size of a house.

Zermatt · 06/06/2014 14:47

Yay calling that's excellent, glad it all went so well and little bean was a wriggle pants :) great you've got your next scan appointment all teed up as well. Will that be when you tell your DS or does he already know?

Glad you are permanent mrsbee and that all your contractual rights etc get transferred with you, so much easier and less to worry about.

I have been deliberating about whether to keep quiet, but I don't know for 100% if it will come through when I'm 16 weeks, there's always a risk it takes even longer and hiding it for that long would be a bit stressful. Plus I hate the thought that their opinion of me will go down for withholding the information. Think I might bite the bullet and hope for the best, maybe drag it out to 13/14 wks.

freneticfox · 06/06/2014 15:14

I told my boss today, even though I'm only 5 weeks; I feel she should know given that in a couple of weeks we have a REALLY hectic time coming up! Hopefully I won't be too ill/out of action.

Feeling a bit dazed at the moment.. does anyone get that? I think I'd fully expected to be trying for a few months at the very least and here I am less than a month after we started trying.

Zermatt · 06/06/2014 15:35

Congrats frenetic and welcome to the penis thread :) I felt very dazed too, still do a bit to be honest! If it happened so quickly for you after starting trying you must feel like your feet haven't touched the ground, enjoy it and get as much rest as you can.

EnglishGirlsReturned · 06/06/2014 15:43

Glad your scan went well calling! I'm very jealous of all these scans!!
Can't wait to know what's going on there with mine. Limbo land sucks! 5 days!

Och Poly no twins? lol. I'm so pleased for you huni Smile

CallingAllEngels · 06/06/2014 16:17

Awesome news poly!

DS already knows that mama has a baby in her belly, but he's 2.8 so doesn't really understand yet.

I managed a cream cake today as well!

Right, off to prom!

lindamagoo · 06/06/2014 16:29

Have fun Calling Smile

fancyacupoftea · 06/06/2014 17:14

I'd like to apologise to anyone living in and around the London area. It appears I have eaten All The Food so you will have to go hungry tonight. Soz.

I'm at work waiting for DH to pick me up after finishing his moderation meeting at his school (on a Friday?! Seriously?!) and feel grim. I emailed him informing him of this (with a list of the large amount I have eaten today) and his response was that I feel grim because I haven't eaten enough today. Idiot.

engels and poly yaaaaayyyyy!!!!!! How did the rest of the appointments go poly?

PolytheneGirl · 06/06/2014 17:26

All good thanks Fancy. They seem less concerned about everything than I am. They took, I'd say over half the blood I had in my arm and booked me in for my next scan at 18 wks (my dates moved 2 days). Got to be seen in clinic again on 25th.

I was so relieved I had a little cry while she did the measurements. Just been and told DS and DM and they are both over the moon. Now we're en route to tell DF. The m6 is not being my friend though!

lindamagoo · 06/06/2014 17:27

So after eating my big cream cake and a packet of crisps oh announced he'd like Chinese for dinner tonight Shock Would it be wrong to indulge also? Please say no! Smile

PolytheneGirl · 06/06/2014 17:28

Oh and I've lost a bit of weight since my booking apt. I have no idea how with all the crisps and cheese I've been scoffing!

OP posts:
PolytheneGirl · 06/06/2014 17:30

Go for it Linda!

OP posts:
lindamagoo · 06/06/2014 17:38

Wow Poly how have you managed that? I've defo gained weight and I'll probably gain loads more after my chicken chow mein tonight Smile

fancyacupoftea · 06/06/2014 17:39

That weight loss would be the car trump vomming!

Did the tshirt trick work?

Yes to Chinese Linda. Definitely! Now I want Chinese.

PolytheneGirl · 06/06/2014 17:41
