sorry my phone decided to act by itself.
hope everyone's ok today
tigsy that sucks that they didn't consult you over your shifts.
Venus much tummy feel very tight and find u can eat loads.... but over a long time... have to eat small bits then stop for 5 mins then start again.

PosyFossilsShoes · 28/05/2014 18:10

We're planning to go to America, have a short road trip and end in San Francisco for Pride - we've got friends there. It would be a brilliant pre-baby holiday!

But…. I've just been told that I have an un-get-out-of-able work commitment slap in the middle of it. Sad

I find out tomorrow just how un-get-out-of-able it is. Fingers crossed!

And another one in the small meals brigade - I'll be really hungry but a tiny amount fills me up, but then I have to eat again quite soon. I'll get used to it but it's not how I'm used to eating!

alita7 · 28/05/2014 18:57

Posy I hope you get to go that sounds awesome, though I wouldn't be wait for my scan! :p

Emily sorry but I don't remember anything either but I hope it goes ok for you!

I have been gagging for some Ben and Jerry's chocolate fudge brownie for days, I neeeeed it now!

Felt definite movement today which was amazing :) I had been feeling things last night when lying in different positions but I wasn't sure. Today when lying on the sofa dp was poking my belly and we both felt a little kick where he poked, he moved a few centimetres and we felt it again. It was like a little poke from the inside! And I've felt a couple of wriggles since, now I think I know what I'm looking for :D

amylou85 · 28/05/2014 19:18

Emily I'm so sorry that must be stressful for you, I've not heard any one else say this either but as others have said, they will probably work themselves out by birth.

blamber and ladydolly I hear you! Constipation has gone and feels like I'm nearing the other end of the spectrum!!

Venus I agree, I start eating dinner and usually have to leave the ast bit as my skin feels like it's going to rip apart! I have to wait a good hour before I start feeling nice and hungry again..

How often is too often to use a doppler do you think...used it first time today and itching to get it out again....

blamber · 28/05/2014 20:00

Thanks lady, glad I'm not the only one. Although the other extreme isn't nice either!

blamber · 28/05/2014 20:02

And amy of course!

alita7 · 28/05/2014 20:05

Amy use mine every night before going to sleep, just for a minute or two usually.

Tigsy · 29/05/2014 00:46

Definitely with you Venus on the tight/full tummy. As I've been on nights my eating is a bit screwed up so woken up starving. Hubby got us fish and chips yesterday and only managed half of it as was so full! Same when we went out for dinner on Monday- starving and then after my starter was full!

WinterLover · 29/05/2014 07:35

Ladies anyone know about weight gain?

I put on 1lg between falling pregnant and 12 week scan, but I got on the scales this morning and im back to my pre-pregnancy weight. O'm slightly concerned because everywhere says you should be putting on some weight and its a sign of healthy pregnancy.

barmybunting · 29/05/2014 08:19

Winter, I had my 16 week appointment yesterday and midwife wasn't at all concerned that I was about 3kg under booking in/usual weight. I was about that at 12 week scan too and it doesn't seem to be a concern. She just said some people get that during first trimester, checked I was eating and drinking ok and said not to worry about it, it is often only towards the end of second trimester that people see more weight gain. I think it differs by pregnancy and as long as you feel ok, try not to worry about it.

ladydolly · 29/05/2014 08:35

winter I have the opposite problem! I've gained over a stone! Midwife said not to worry about it but it does play on my mind, I reeeeeally want to have a healthy pregnancy and birth and focus on the baby not the 4st I have to lose when I get to the other side!

PosyFossilsShoes · 29/05/2014 08:49

Winter I've actually lost a pound overall cos of the hyperemesis, which worried me slightly - but the mw reassured me that the foetus is a parasite, it's quite happily sucking up all the nutrients that I'm not getting, and there's no need to be concerned!

Oklahoma · 29/05/2014 09:34

Winter I've lost weight through sickness too and midwife at 16 week scan said not to worry. If at 20 week scan you've put on no weight they might do an extra growth scan later on but baby is a parasite and will break you down to get what it needs.

Tigsy · 29/05/2014 09:37

ladydolly I'm the same! I've had to stop weighing myself now as it was just stressing me out!

alita7 · 29/05/2014 10:25

Really want to weigh myself but have no scales!

mismylinford · 29/05/2014 10:39

morning all.
sad news this morning, one of my friends went for her 12 week scan yesterday and baby had died at 6 weeks. very sad for her we had our first babies days apart and was hoping for the seconds to be not for apart. bless her sad day.

amy83firsttimer · 29/05/2014 10:53

That's so sad.

In happier news it's my birthday today. 31 years old. Boo. :-( Had 16 week midwife appt at 10.00 and all ok. Didn't listen for heartbeat as she's following NICE guidelines, tried to pull the birthday guilt trip on her and it didn't work. Never mind. Still happy day.

amy83firsttimer · 29/05/2014 10:53

Fai

amy83firsttimer · 29/05/2014 10:54

Failed sad face. :-( at being old now!

Thisisimpossible · 29/05/2014 14:24

Wow. So much to catch up on as usual Smile

Posy the holiday sounds fab Grin. I am also struggling with feeling ravenously hungry and then not managing to finish what's on my plate because I feel so full and my ribs hurt like stink. And then feeling hungry again not long after.

Mismy I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I will keep her in my thoughts.

Welcome Gingerelle and other newbies to the thread, and happy birthday Amy Smile Cake

I had my 16 week appointment yesterday. Everything came back ok, bloods etc all fine which was a relief. My midwife offered to check the baby's heartbeat which was lovely even though I've got the doppler now (which I didn't own up to!) - I still wanted her to confirm I'd found the right thing I guess.

Having said to her yesterday that I'd like to have a water birth, I found out that the hospital I'd initially elected to give birth at only has one birthing pool and that obviously comes on a first come, first served basis. I really don't want the stress of will I get it/won't I get it on top of everything else when the time comes. My midwife explained that the alternative option of the county's birthing centre has one in every room, and also caters better for partners/husbands so we're going to arrange an appointment to go there and find out more.

In an ideal world the midwife-led birthing centre would be my preferred option. I am just worried about what will happen should anything go wrong. It's also an hour away from our house (original hospital only 20 mins) and I think the hospital they would transfer to in emergency is 45 mins away from the centre, despite the closest one being only 20 minutes away because the closer one is in a different county. Gah. All stuff we need to find out I guess.

Amyrose82 · 29/05/2014 15:03

Mismy that's such sad news - hugs to your friend Thanks

Posy - holiday sounds amazing, fingers' crossed you get the ok from work!

Amy - 31 is the new 21 (or that's what I keep telling myself Wink) hope you're having a fab birthday!

Had my 16 week midwife appt yesterday and all went well - she did the doppler and found the heartbeat straight away, which was reassuring! She did say my bloods showed low iron levels at 116hb so she would ask the doc to prescribe iron tablets - I rang the surgery this morning to check when the prescription would be ready and spoke to the doc who said she's seen the note but had checked my blood results herself and iron was 126hb so fine! So either doc has the wrong results on the system or midwife has misread my bloods/given the wrong results (her computer was broken so she was reading them from a folder with lots of ppl's results in).

Have been feeling v tired, dizzy and a bit breathless which are all symptoms of low iron so think I need to check with the midwife again!

FTMK · 29/05/2014 15:46

Sad news missmy. Amy rose, I had the midwife stick someone else's booking blood results in my notes. I still don't know if mine were all ok. They were done at first appt at 6 weeks then diff midwife came to do booking at my house, bringing the results. Daft thing was, the blood type results were mine. After she left, I had a look and they had someone else's name on. Had to ring her up and take notes in so she could remove them but she didn't have mine. So I may not be immune to rubella etc. I'm hoping they can sort it out at the 16 week appt next week. Also wondering who has my blood results stick in their notes?!

In weight news I have only put on a pound so far which is good as I was at the top end of normal BMI before. I think I lost a couple early on when was ravenous, then out those back on but then haven't put any more on since. My friend reckons she can't tell I'm expecting other than that I've told her. Having a bit of a belly before is obviously good camouflage! It does worry me slightly that I'm not putting on weight though. But then, I worry about everything!
