hi folks - thought we should have a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

DH seems more worried than me but has told me not to Google and pointed out he has no uterus.

Hopeful83 · 27/05/2014 19:09

Amy - I've had some sharp pains very low down, on both sides, yesterday and today. They are sharp, burning pains which last maybe 10 seconds. They often happen when I get up, roll over in bed etc, so they seem to be movement related. I am hoping that these are just ligament/stretching type pains. Not sure if it's the same thing you have. I don't want to call the midwife as I don't want her to think I'm a pain, I already had to ring her once today about my Anti D injection. Seems like quite a few of us are having random pains. I'm 17 weeks today. Hope all is ok

amy83firsttimer · 27/05/2014 19:13

It was different from the low down rolling over / getting up from sofa pain. Really pingy and sharp and short, ie, like someone twanging you with an elastic band but from the inside. It only happened twice then stopped. Sure it's nothing.
Colleague said could be kicks from baby but think baby would have to be wearing spurs for them to feel like that!

Petal26 · 27/05/2014 19:37

Thanks Oklahoma
Have been given Metoclopramide. Have been doing a bit of research this afternoon so know a little more now, going to give it a go tomorrow.

alita7 · 27/05/2014 20:12

I've had a whole range of pains but nothing really bad, I think it's all stretching and uterus pushing other things out of the way, so digestion is a bit harder etc I hear the heart beat and baby moving around all over the place every night on my doppler so I'm not concerned :)

Starry if you're thinking of having a scan and want to find out the gender then I'd wait until 16 weeks as then you have a better chance of them being able to tell :)

StudyFullTime · 27/05/2014 20:21

petal those are the tablets I was given and they sorted my sickness out straight away which was brilliant, the sickness is definitely the worse bit. I couldn't do anything without throwing my guts up.

You have my sympathy Thanks

ladydolly · 27/05/2014 20:32

I've had the odd twangy pain but not been worried about it, yours sound worse than mine though.

Went to the hospital today for an apt at the PGP clinic, turns out I don't have PGP but, they offered us a tour of the birthing unit - it was amazing! 10 huge rooms, all with double beds so dad can stay, a pool, loads of different 'stations' for getting in different positions for active labour. After 6 hours if everything goes ok you go home. (Sounds easy eh??) Any problems then the labour ward and all the equipment is only upstairs. Anyone else going to the Rosie?

amy83firsttimer · 27/05/2014 20:46

Thanks dolly that makes me feel better. I'm sure it just felt bad because I was leaning forward and I'm not wearing maternity tights yet but probably should be. Early night for me I think and no more Internet, I've stayed off Google but even MN makes me overthink things. Night ladies. X

Ggggrr. Damn phone!

Gingerelle · 27/05/2014 21:36

Hi all! Just logging on here for first time - DC2 due 9th Nov but so much less time than with DD1 for internet browsing! Anyway hello and hope you are all doing well with your pregs. I am finally feeling better after 14 weeks of non-stop nausea - didn;t have anything last time so it's been a bit of a nasty shock! Also piling on the weight here - bum is huge already :(

Petal26 · 27/05/2014 21:51

Thanks study :-)

Hi gingerelle, due date buddy! I'm due on the 9th with DC2 as well :-)

Tigsy · 28/05/2014 02:10

AnnaRose I'd have to give them some notice before stopping nights as it was cause absolute chaos if I suddenly told them. I'm planning to stop after this set, but have to be seen by occupational health first to get assessed.

Linford there's no direct guidance anymore from the BMA. It's all very abstract and depends on what you and your employer feel is suitable.
I've found them a lot harder than I expected, so I'd decided to do this week, and my consultant has completed a referral to occupational health for me, so hopefully will be seen by them soon and hopefully taken off before my next sets of nights at the end of June and July.

Amy hope the pain has settled, but definitely sounds like round ligament pain so probably completely normal, although not necessarily nice!

Had 16wk appointment today- seemed utterly pointless- all she did was check my BP and book next appointment! She did listen to the heartbeat but didn't seem to be part of the assessment- she asked me if I wanted her to which was nice. Didn't have the heart to say I'd already heard it loads on the doppler! Definitely glad I've got the doppler though as otherwise hubby would have missed hearing it.

16 + 6 Smile

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 28/05/2014 08:03

Hi ladies sorry popping over from the December thread again just wondered if anyone had their 12 week scan and it showed abnormalities? Our 12 week scan showed 2 abnormalities which we have an appt to see the consultant for nearly a week after the scan. I'm worrying myself to death!

Tigsy · 28/05/2014 08:42

Sorry to hear this Emily- I can't recall anything similar on here, but maybe someone else more helpful will be along soon. How worrying for you- did they give you any better idea as to what the problems were? Hopefully, they are just being over-cautious and all will be ok. Hope you get some answers either way very soon. Thinking of you Thanks

Venus2 · 28/05/2014 10:15

Emily, sorry to hear you are going through that. I hope the week passes quickly and that you get some reassurance soon.

barmybunting · 28/05/2014 10:49

Emily, I am sorry to hear this, I hope when you get to the consultant they can put your worries to rest quickly. It's not something I have come across before but I just want to say I am thinking of you.

Annarose2014 · 28/05/2014 11:18

emily did he say what those abnormalities were? I know sometimes issues found at an early scan do resolve themselves as baby grows. However sometimes of course they don't. But my point is that not every abnormality detected early on is present at actual birth.

Tigsy I have a referral for Occ Health too. Snap! Grin Am actually playing phone tag with her at the mo to arrange an appt. Will be giving the letter about nights to her (I think) but have already told my CNM that I got it, so she won't be scheduling me. Anyway, I can't imagine they'd schedule you for nights against your will!

I also want to find out fro OH what rooms I can go into. I believe I can go into anything gastro, but not anything touch or airborne. But I want an official list basically.

blamber · 28/05/2014 12:13

Well I have been constipated almost since the beginning of my pregnancy, but in the last two days it seems to have gone. Should I be worried or can this happen in the second trimester? I thought it would be here to stay.

16 week scan next week though, so can see baby again. Hope all is ok.

Emily, sorry no experience here. Just with blood test showing up some problems with one of the hormones. Hope you'll hear more soon.

MrsWombat · 28/05/2014 13:07

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today and met my proper midwife for the first time. The appointment was in one of my workplaces, so I had lots of colleagues being nosy and offering congratulations etc, but mostly being nosy!

She took my bloods again to test for low platelets, and did the other usual tests. She found baby's heart beat first time, and gave me a few tips for using my own Doppler. She strongly advised me to get the whooping cough jab because I work with children, and have a school age child. She said that if she is specifically asked about whether someone really needs it, she only recommends it for pregnant mums with kids or who work with kids as they are more at risk of coming in to contact with unvaccinated children. Hmm

I'm also getting a 25 week appointment, as she likes to see the VBAC women before the VBAC appointment at 28 weeks so I can get my MATB1 form then!

Four weeks to my 20 week scan. Grin

ladydolly · 28/05/2014 14:15

Blamber I was exactly the same, I swear I've never been constipated in my life until pregnant and then almost from day 1. It stopped around 14 weeks (I'm 17 weeks tomorrow) and have to confess (TMI ALERT!!) has recently gone the other way...

Glad to see it gone, it made me feel so bloated.

PosyFossilsShoes · 28/05/2014 14:39

I might be postponing my 20 week scan. In a good cause though - we might be going on HOLIDAY at the end of June. I'm just begging negotiating time off…

Tigsy · 28/05/2014 16:19

AnnaRose our rota is produced 6 months in advance without any choice so my nights are already scheduled against my will! Occupational health phoned today (annoyingly when I was trying to sleep) and got an appointment in 2 wks so hopefully will get it sorted then!

Posy exciting about the holiday! Where are you off to?

Venus2 · 28/05/2014 16:35

Sounds exciting Posy. Where will you go?
Tigsy I hope you get work sorted soon. Night shifts would be torture while pg if you have been as tired I have been.
Is it just me or does anyone else feel like their tummy is tight as a drum after having a meal even if it's just a sandwich. So uncomfortable!
