I'm going to look at a Mamas and Papas Sola pram today from a local Gumtree seller. It includes the carrycot, Aton carseat and accessories for £200 so I'm hoping it will be in good nick; since my parents are buying I'm really loathe for them to pay over the odds for a pram.

Goats I'm with you on the pram meltdown. It took us about four trips to Mothercare/ Mamas and Papas before I could even seriously look at prams. Every other time I had to leave the shop before hyper ventilating!

I have to say now we've got ours it feels like a huge weight off our shoulders!

Now we're onto cotbeds :) Seeing as we haven't spent anything on the pram I'm pushing for a lovely one I have seen in Mamas and Papas. Can't remember the range but it's a sleigh bed style.

weeonion · 05/05/2014 13:46

Another one with a pram / pushchair meltdown today!DD is away with pal so decided to have a look and totally overwhelmed / underwhelmed with them all.

bumpbangbump · 05/05/2014 15:14

We have a local independent pram shop near us. I would recommend trying to find one local to you as they will have more time to talk you through your options. I went in looking lost and confused and they took me under their wings and found me my perfect buggy. Tried a couple but wen with the first one they showed.

PS I was using the handle height as an example. I think the height is perfect, I'm 5'8", oh is 6', and mum is 5'2". We've all found it a good fit... The only draw back for my best friend who has the same is boot space for the pram and the carrycot attachment which I lent them. On its own it folds really small, with the carrycot you need quite a bit more space.

Kirstipops · 05/05/2014 15:56

Eep well we got the Sola today, really chuffed with it, 2 years old and looks brand new. One thing about it is that you need a decent sized car boot for the wheel base as it's pretty long!

I really like the city mini idea but for some reason its not aesthetically pleasing to me! Practically though it seems ideal. My friend has one and loves it although she still used an Icandy for both of her children in the early months...

LondonJen · 05/05/2014 20:48

Thanks Celly that's really useful.

DP is keen on an Icandy just because my friend had one. Whilst I like the look of it I think we ought to at least push one first just to check! He is already keeping an eye on gumtree/ebay though no plans to purchase just yet.

mum2kiss · 05/05/2014 21:33

The only downside I remember friends saying about the Icandy is that it gets very heavy to manoeuvre once baby gets past 6 months. My cousin kept hers for only 5 months, and my friend switched to the city mini when her kids were around 6-8 months. I know people thay have got along fine with them for a year or 2 though. I think they tended to be people who mainly walk though...

gunwalloe · 06/05/2014 05:16

Been kept awake all night with toothache a different tooth this time. Will have to phone dentist as soon as it's open . This pregnancy is playing havoc with my teeth!

ohthegoats · 06/05/2014 07:49

I just cried because Liverpool are not going to win the premiership.

A) I hate football and don't care about football
b) I'm from Wiltshire - no link to Liverpool
c) boyfriend staunch man United fan

he just left for work in disgust!

mrsb87 · 06/05/2014 07:54

queen hot honey and lemon on just a teaspoon of honey is good for sore throats. When I had my cold the pharmacist told dh were not even able to have halls soothers etc!

Me23 · 06/05/2014 09:16

Oh dear ohthegoats I'm having an emotional day too, have cried twice already at the tv!

I had a quick look in mothercare care yesterday and my eyes were drawn to the britax affinity looks like a study pram/pushchair didn't try it out though, anyone else had a go with it?

(I'm so gonna end up getting another pram aren't I)

LondonJen · 06/05/2014 12:23

Lol goats! Have a tissue!

I am very happy this morning as I ordered more tops from gap since the only thing that fits me was a mat top from their sale, and they ALL fit. Thank god! Plus everything I got was reduced so rather pleased with my haul.

I also think I am experiencing kicks!! But not entirely sure ha ha! It is like the bubbles but instead of feeling like the bubbles then burst it feels like small prods. Just a couple this morning and 3 yesterday. Hoping it will become a stronger sensation and I'll know for sure.

TroubleAndFyfe · 06/05/2014 13:21

Sounds like it londonjen!

Matildasmam22 · 06/05/2014 14:34

Gunwalloe I had two out on my last pregnancy. There's nothing worse I was up sobbing with the pain. I'm jealous of everyone with kicks I'm 15 weeks today and never feel anything till after twenty.

I'm still abit unsettled so I'm putting money away but waiting till week 24 to start buying

ohthegoats · 06/05/2014 14:37

I just had one definite kick feeling, half way through doing the register. Enough of a kick to have me stop and do a bemused face. That's the first feeling I've recognised since last Monday, and was totally different to a flutter or stroke. Weird!

Loulou888 · 06/05/2014 14:38

Has anyone ordered h&m clothes? Seen a dress I would like to get but don't know which size to order. It's annoying me that all shops only seem to sell mat clothes online and I can't be doing the hassle of having to return them.

Kirstipops · 06/05/2014 14:58

Londonjen I've had the exact same last night and today! I was trying to think of a word to describe the sensation but little "prods" is definitely it! Right behind my belly button, bonkers but lovely.
Ahahahah goats, yesterday I felt myself welling up as I randomly came across a clip on YouTube of Lea Michele singing in an episode of Glee.
I don't watch Glee.
In my defence, it seemed to be dedicated to her on and offscreen boyf who died in real life and seemed really heartfelt....ahem

I have a dress from H&M - I'm normally a size 14, mostly due to boob size. I bought a medium and it's fine. If anything, a little big. It's the most comfortable thing, but not available online - I should have gone straight back and bought another one. Just a short navy blue spotty dress with ruching over the boobs and flappy sleeves - in Thailand it was BRILLIANT and cool.

My most recent purchase is a mac - I'm cold all the time, even when it's quite warm - hoped I might manage without a coat that does up, cos it's 'summer' and all, but there's no way. Can't do any coats up now, so had to go and get one. I figured too that if the kid doesn't arrive until mid-October, which is totally feasible, then I'll need a coat by then and will be massive - and will need a coat afterwards for awhile of being massive too. I bought a medium from JojoMamanBebe and it's like a tent. It's got lots of toggles and drawstrings to shape it up properly around you, but when I did that this morning it made me look screamingly pregnant. Since kids and parents don't know yet, it was too soon for wearing it.

Meanwhile, I've already had one icecream today... and already want another one. Or five.

pebble82 · 06/05/2014 15:30

Now, I may be a little biased as this is what I do for a living but Mumsnet have just launched a first aid for baby and child page. It might be my job but I also really believe it's important and relevant for us all. Please take time to swot up now!

Aisha18 · 06/05/2014 16:10

Hi all,

Would be really grateful if someone could add me to the list again:

Aisha18, DC1, EDD 2nd Oct

I went off the radar as I was so ill in the first few months, just couldn't bring myself to think of any extra pregnancy things, I was so sick of it all! Anyway now back to health at 19 weeks and very much excited now.

Have bought a pushchair, iCandy Cherry (from eBay as didn't want to spend £600 on the kit!) don't know what it will be like but I planned to have one since shopping for buggys when my friend had her baby 3 years ago, so I didn't look around the alternatives, just bought it...as probably would have gone mad if I'd started the whole research into it!

Found out we are having a girl last week, sooo excited, would have been happy with either obviously, but very excited at the prospect of buying girly dresses etc Smile

Have also bought the CDs and books for Natal Hypnotherapy...listening to the pregnancy CD at the moment then later on moves to the birth prep one. Anyone have any experience of this? Not sure I'm tough enough to see it through to the birth but thought it can't do any harm.

Hope you're all having a good day x

Loulou888 · 06/05/2014 16:31

Thanks goats I'm a 12/14 so have gone for the m. Free delivery at min so pretty cheap. Your dress sounds like the black one I've just ordered.

mum2kiss · 06/05/2014 16:40

goats the first time I felt a proper kick with dd I gasped! Totally different from all the fluttering before! I'm waiting patiently to feel that again this time!

I have one pair of trousers and one pair of jeans that fit comfortably...its making life difficult...I'll have to bite the bullet and shop online...

ive had mild cramping for a couple of hours today...anyone else had this?!
