I'm glad having a sensitive nose is common place I'm usually really good at picking up smells but since being pregnant it's like I've got spidey senses and hubby is also bugging me when he's not fragrant

ExcitedCJ · 21/04/2014 22:58

Yay Fedup I'm loving bump watch! :)
I can't remember a tiny bump last time , it felt like I went from nothing to feeling frumpy in every item I owned to giant size bump.
I have a pic of me at 38+4 which I love to look at, can't believe it's happening again....

pebble82 · 21/04/2014 23:53

Fedup you look great.

I currently think I just look fat. As a size 16/18 I'm sizable enough that people won't think "she's pregnant" but rather "she's eaten one too many Easter eggs". There's a definite bump there but can't wait for it to be really obvious it's a baby and not just food.

porcito · 22/04/2014 01:07

Great bumps!! Mine is a beast at almost 17 weeks. I was planning on waiting til next pay day to brave the trip for maternity clothes (in my town, apparently women either don't grow when pregnant, or just walk around naked, not sure which). My giant headed baby had other ideas, and my stomach just popped out yesterday. I almost had a breakdown, had to borrow my 65 year old boss's skirt to make a mad dash to the city today for clothes.

It's my first as well binky, I'm terrified that it's growing too fast - it keeps getting dates two weeks ahead of the original one. I hope it evens itself out!

Has anyone felt their baby move yet? I keep waiting for it, but no, still just gas. Vile.

fedupofrainydays · 22/04/2014 06:41

Thanks ladies Grin

porcito that made me laugh about the 65 year olds skirt!! Amazed you are still in normal clothes at 17 weeks! No movement here, just wind as well.

pebble even though to me it's obvious mine is a bump I think most men think it's food! I work with mostly men at the mo and they see me stuffing my face to keep MS at bay and now I'm fat so serves me right!!!

What is bothering me is that I can still lie on my front without it being uncomfy, is that the same for you ladies?

fedupofrainydays · 22/04/2014 06:43

I remember bump last time cj as was trying to hide it from work til 16 weeks as wanted it put of any pay rise / promotion considerations!! It was hard but i succeeded!

ExcitedCJ · 22/04/2014 06:53

Fedup now I'm curious nosey about where you work!
I can still lie flat too but I'm trying to stay on left side and keep waking freaking out in case I'm on my tummy or back.

fedupofrainydays · 22/04/2014 07:02

Not very exciting - I work in consulting! And my team has been mostly men of late. Plus our top leaderhsip is all male except one lady who has a full time nanny - says something about how hard consulting is to do as a mum when you actually want to be there!!

ohthegoats · 22/04/2014 07:06

I'm still lying on my stomach to read etc. I have always slept on my side though, so I don't sleep on my front. I've put work clothes on today, and reckon I could hide this gut for another week or so under empire line dresses, but my boss wants to advertise for my maternity cover in the next week, so he's asked that I tell my colleagues.

How do you do that? Announce it at break time while everyone is in the staff room? Go round and tell them individually (there are only 6 of them to tell)? Feel weird about it - we told parents a few weeks ago, but I haven't even told one of my friends yet, and my boyfriend has only told one of his friends.

ExcitedCJ · 22/04/2014 07:35

Ohthegoats I had 300 to tell, so I announced to approx 50 and the word spread! Nerve wrecking, I'm OK at work stuff in big groups but personal is different!
Fedup I hope you are looked after in that high pressure environment.

fedupofrainydays · 22/04/2014 07:57

You could just ask boss to do it for you? Get him / her to say goats is having a baby so we are looking for maternity cover... Blah de blah. Easy that way! I'm going to tell my line mgr and HR and they can tell the rest as they see fit. I will tell colleagues I consider as friends which are a few. Just different this time after two mcs I'm much more nervous about it / less woooooo I'm having a baby.

weebairn · 22/04/2014 08:02

Hello ladies! Hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend. What a rainy day to go back to work.

I am still putting off telling work, and I'm on night shifts next week anyway (so no one will notice or care)… so I'm thinking after the 20 week scan now?? We'll see… I feel really anxious about it.

Pregnancy at 17 weeks is much nicer than pregnancy at 11 weeks that's for sure! I feel a bit tired sometimes but that's it.

Loving the bump photos. I just feel a bit bigger but no bump really and in normal clothes. I might take a quick photo… also, I know lots of first timers who showed early and they didn't necessarily have big babies, people just have different bodies, carry differently, lots of it is fluid I think.

I'm getting lots of kicks now! Seeing the midwife tomorrow and fingers crossed to hear the heartbeat.

17 weeks, 2nd baby

weebairn · 22/04/2014 08:05

Still in work clothes… just!!

pebble82 · 22/04/2014 09:25

I try and avoid sleeping on my front or back but find myself waking up like that. Also when I toss and turn all night it's often the only position I can keep still. Annoying!

Loulou888 · 22/04/2014 09:41

Feeling a little low this morning. Kids have gone back to school, ds was upset and didn't want to go, weather miserable and can't bring myself to start the huge clean up job I have today. House feels empty.

Cherie037 · 22/04/2014 10:49

Hello Ladies, Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend. My DH and I took DD to the peak district for the weekend and had a little bit of a nightmare with sleeping. DD is quite tall for 20 months and she basically took up the whole travel cot so when she went to flip around she woke herself up, so we decided it maybe easier if she slept with us, she has NEVER sleep with us before, as I never wanted to get her into the habit. Luckily we had a Super King bed as she decided the most comfortable way to sleep was horizontal. I had her feet kicking me all night and DH had her nails scratching him all night. Needless to say we both woke up more tired than when we went to bed!!!

I also think I have to give into the pull of my maternity clothing as I thought at some point this weekend my jeans were going to pop off me!! I'm only 14 weeks, I thought I could maybe get away with my normal clothes for another few weeks...

ohthegoats · 22/04/2014 11:04

Well, in the end i went round and told them individually. Was scary, made it all more real. I now have massive butterflies and am convinced I've jinxed it all... I much preferred it a secret. What if things go wrong now? I'll have loads of odd sympathy, urgh.

Loulou888 · 22/04/2014 11:40

I know how you feel ohthegoats I really didnt want to tell anyone either. But I must say its more due to the "I can't believe you are starting again...." Mil actually thought DH had had the snip! Shows how well she knows us! Anyhow I'm not putting an announcement on FB lots of nosy people on there who aren't real friends. I've told some mums at school so expecting they will do the gossiping for me.

tak1ngchances · 22/04/2014 11:47

I am also not putting an announcement on facebook. At some point there is bound to be a pic of me at a wedding or something with a bump and then everyone will know. But for now it's just friends & family that we've told, and colleagues at work (who have all been lovely).

My biggest issue now is the constant need to pee. Went for a walk with the dog on Saturday and had to go in the bushes twice and again as soon as I got home. I am so afraid of getting caught short when I'm somewhere toilet-less like the train, or in the supermarket or something. Is anyone else like this?

Loulou888 · 22/04/2014 12:12

I'm the same taking it does seem to be worse whilst out on foot. 3 times a night on average. And loads during the day....don't know where it keeps coming from!

tak1ngchances · 22/04/2014 12:16

But does it make you nervous Loulou? I hate feeling I need to go but not having access to a loo

ohthegoats · 22/04/2014 12:21

On a 6 hour flight on Saturday, I went to the loo 11 times. Had drunk 1 whole glass of water. Of course it was a teaspoon of wee each time, despite feeling desperate.

Loulou888 · 22/04/2014 12:22

Yes it does it's always in the back of my mind if there is going to be a Toilet where I am going. I don't have to really use public transport as work from home so that is a blessing

Loulou888 · 22/04/2014 12:24

ohthegoats at least it kept you actively moving on your long flight Grin we are off to cyprus in June. Hate foreign airport toilets!

tak1ngchances · 22/04/2014 12:25

Lucky you Loulou! What kind of thing do you do, if you don't mind me asking? I work in Central London but do have the opportunity to work from home one or two days a week (it is tolerated but not actively encouraged)
