I keep getting trapped wind in my chest! Very uncomfortable but peppermint tea seems to help all things digestive...

we visited the pils yesterday. Mil announced that she wants to buy the pram and has already seen a couple she likes!! Dp says I'm ungrateful because I told him I dont want his mother to choose the pram when I have already chosen one! He's now said he's not budgeting for a pram as his mother has offered so she and I will have to sort it out between us! No we bloody well wont! I will be getting the pram I've researched and want!

She also announced that even though I am catholic the baby will be christened anglican like the rest of their family (even though they say they think religion is ridiculous and dont practice!). I pointed out that dc1 goes to catholic school and I want this baby to go to the same school (it would be a problem if this baby is not catholic) and she said well schools dont really matter then do they? !!

Arrrrrgh!! Its fast starting to look like this is her baby not mine! Dp says he doesn't mind what church the baby is christened in and isnt bothered what buggy we end up with! It took me most of the journey home to get him to see that this is his mother taking over and that he'll have to sort her out!

Ok rant over!

Hope everyone had a lovely easter :)

Kirstipops · 21/04/2014 11:43

Oof mum2kiss your OH will have a sore bum sitting on that fence! It's a lovely gesture that MIL wants to buy you one obv but that doesnt entitle her to choose the thing!
My MIL is a devoted Catholic (indeed, very nearly became a nun a few years ago) but I and my DH are atheists, luckily she's the laid back type!
I had a lovely Easter weekend, spring cleaning day today!

mum2kiss. I think I would throw a proper wobbly at that, not so much Mil's behaviour (it's to be expected to a degree with some people) but with DP's lack of kicking Mil's arse if necessary.
If any of our parents started issuing edicts about schooling, christening, ceremonies etc I would be opening a can of whoop-ass, no way anyone outside of our family (me and mrsthedog and schrodenberg) are making such decisions.
I got quite angry on your behalf then!

TroubleAndFyfe · 21/04/2014 12:15

I'm vegetarian and DH is devout carnivore. We intended to bring DS up pescatarian then let him make his own choice when he was old enough to understand but he's a very fussy eater and only really wanted to eat Quorn so I saw it as a losing battle. He now mainly eats meat and fish!

mum2kiss · 21/04/2014 12:29

Lol I appreciate it puppy

I told dp this morning that I'm not going to stress about it and I will christen the baby where I like. He agreed that it should be our decision and if I want to christen the baby in a catholic church then that's what we will do!

Captainmcgraw · 21/04/2014 12:35

Bump at 16 weeks. Definitely no hiding it!

DH and I are are both veggie. DD has been brought up at home eating what we eat but don't stop her having meat at parties or other people's houses. At nursery she theoretically ate meat apart from the fact that she never actually ate any of it so we have now put her on veggie meals hoping she might get a bit of protein that way and not just eat the vegetables.

Kirstipops · 21/04/2014 13:59

Quite surprising (in a good way) to see how many veggies there are here! DH and I are mostly veggie/pescitarian but have meat maybe once or twice a fortnight. I took a bit of an aversion to chicken for a while, my friend's sister took an aversion to her own husband when she was pregnant because she thought he smelled like meat haha!!

Kirstipops that made me smile, will have to remember that one if I want the bed to myself one night Grin

Is anyone else having to work today? Our company doesn't give us bank holidays, we have to take them out of our leave and I'm trying to keep some of mine so I can finish a few weeks before my contract ends and extend my maternity leave- if I'm allowed to do that!

Just finding it difficult to work today (and last Friday) when I know half of the country is off and enjoying a long weekend Easter Sad

ohthegoats · 21/04/2014 14:39

My boyfriend has a smell that sort of makes me go blurgh sometimes. He knows it though, and mostly finds it funny.

I've just been in Tesco with the most painful nipples EVER. I cried. It felt like someone was swinging off them with the hardest pinch in the world. Agony.

Bumpforme2014 · 21/04/2014 15:58

Helloooooo everyone, so after a week of diahorrea I was enjoying the long weekend, attended a birthday party but caught a tummy bug and spent 24 hours throwing up :-( only starting to feel better now and soooo hungry. Seeing all your baby bumps has made me very jealous, I seem to be getting symptom after symptom with no let up and not even a tiny bump to show for it booooooo

MrsDinoRawr · 21/04/2014 17:09

love reading everones's posts. I am 15 weeks and also had really sore nipples the other day every time i got cold.

Got home from the in laws after a lovely Easter lunch yesterday to bring it all back up. Have been sick 10 times today and can't keep anything down. Have been sick every day until last week when I was only sick twice. How can I tell if ms is back with a vengeance or if I have got a bug? No one else has been ill after dinner so don't think it was the mil's cooking! Haven't even been able to have an Easter egg yet :(

MrsDinoRawr · 21/04/2014 17:11

bumpforme... i feel bad for moaning just noticed you have been ill all week. glad to hear you are feeling bit better.

ohthegoats i can't sleep facing my husband anymore... his breath offends me!

ohthegoats · 21/04/2014 17:50

i can't sleep facing my husband anymore... his breath offends me

Exactly the same here. I've suggested that we swap sides of the bed so that I can sleep on my left hand side without facing him. I haven't said that it's about breath, I've said it's about being nearer the toilet for me - getting up 20 times a night might be less likely to wake him up if I'm not tripping over stuff on the long way around.

Bumpforme2014 · 21/04/2014 18:03

Mrsdino it sounds like you have what I had, I know it's a bug because it lasted 24 hours and I felt very hot and cold and generally awful with headache etc

With you on the hubby breath thing!

Loulou888 · 21/04/2014 19:31

Haha! Same here ladies have to sleep facing away from DH too with regards to breath etc. also find he really annoys me if he falls asleep before me ..... Grr seems to breath heavy generally noisy!

ExcitedCJ · 21/04/2014 20:11

Captain what a sweet little bump. Thanks for sharing, made me smile! :)
Mum2 MIL's are great craic aren't they, they are little treasures sent to help us be better people!
I'm having a lovely time to myself, my DH is at MIL's with DD so I have house to myself as I had to work today. So I treated myself this evening, I took myself out on a date to Wagamama! I dressed in my lovely new Isabella Oliver dress & had a delicious meal for one! Now in bed drinking tea & eating choc orange. Happy, happy preggers woman!

pebble82 · 21/04/2014 20:11

I just feel sorry for my poor DP with me next to him. I toss and turn all night and make a right mess of the covers by tangling them up and crushing the pillows. Also I woke up in a right mood with him because I dreamt he got out of his mind drunk at a party and I had to try and look after him.

ExcitedCJ · 21/04/2014 20:13

Ps. My DH had 2 bulbs of garlic & several glasses of wine yesterday & I couldn't let him near me. He had to sleep in another room & walk down wind as he was making me gag!

Loulou888 · 21/04/2014 20:31

Sounds bliss cj I really could use a peaceful evening and early night followed by a full nights sleep (without the toilet trips and ds constantly getting out of bed)

ohthegoats · 21/04/2014 20:58

Well, after my advice about how to avoid wind, I've just spent the last 3 hours almost crippled with trapped wind pain. Couldn't stand up straight, and at one point asked boyfriend to stop half way through a beer just in case he had to drive me to hospital. Genuinely thought at one point it was appendicitis, I couldn't touch my belly at all without wincing. Now seems to have gone...

Bumpforme2014 · 21/04/2014 21:02

Oh trapped wind, I know this pain well with my bowel condition I've sat there in agony at restaurants before from it. On all fours, bum in air is best way to get it gone.

ohthegoats · 21/04/2014 21:10

I had it loads in the first 11 weeks, it's disappeared since, but I think partly now a problem due to time difference and airplane food!

fedupofrainydays · 21/04/2014 22:00

I found lying on back with legs over head best for getting rid of trapped wind - a position not that easily performed when preg tho!!! Grin

The comments about OH breath made me laugh - as same thing hear this morning. Such a turn off too. And he was feeling frisky. nooooooooo!

fedupofrainydays · 21/04/2014 22:09

Ps. As we are on bump watch. Here's me. 15 weeks. Not that much really but am usually flat tummed so it's big for me if you know what i mean!

mrsb87 · 21/04/2014 22:14

Wowee what a busy day. I've just got back from my brother and sister in law's place and have emptied them of all baby related equipment!
Pram/car seat (really chuffed as it does everything I wanted it to do and its a sturdy model for lots of dog walking)
Neutral baby grows from tiny baby and new born,
Moses basket and sheets,
breast pumps and bottles,
Soooo many blankets etc,
Play mats,
Changing table.....
I think they have saved us a small fortune! !
