If you're pregnant after a previous MC and due in December 14 this is the thread for you.

If you're an obsessive knicker-checker or just want someone to chat to who knows where you're coming from you'll fit right in.

Good luck tomorrow Pengs! Sure it will be great. Oh, and if that is a layer of fat then I am waaaaay too embarrassed to ever share what I look like right now!

To answer the family questions... I think my parents will be worried about my health (which is fair enough and I am making sure I am being monitored and taking all necessary meds) and about money (knowing we wanted to move) which is fine.

However, there are also lots of comments about how much better 2 kids are than 3, about how the 3rd might not be healthy so don't take the risk and about my career having taken off in the last few years.

All valid concerns but we really don't need grilling about them until we have had a proper chance to work out our own plans, our own solutions and feel confident enough that this pg is safe before facing the questions.

MrsFtn · 21/05/2014 21:11

Penguin YOU ARE BEING RIDICULOUS! Your friend will be looking down on you with happiness and pride for being so strong through all the ups and downs you've been through. I like the guardian angel idea Strawbs. Stop looking for extra things to worry about and think positive! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

Regular your family may be surprised but I'm sure it will be a nice surprise. I'm sure they'll be happy as long as you are happy. I am the youngest of 3 - my sisters are both a lot older than me but we've always been really close.

Strawbs sounds like you are having a fantastic time. I'm so jealous - I really want to see The Lion King!

I can no longer squeeze into my work uniform so I am in 'civvies' now and desperately trying to find something that fits every morning. I'm not complaining though - I've wanted to be in this position for so long

Penguin13 · 21/05/2014 22:15

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Good reminder Mrs that as much as I am a little Shock at the sudden rounding of my belly I am actually over the moon to be experiencing it. It always drove me mad when people complained about everything throughout their entire pregnancy but I am in danger of falling into that trap.

Hopefully your family will follow your lead Regular If you're positive rather than apologetic when you make your announcement hopefully they will pick up on those cues and react positively. That said, there is no accounting for what families come out with sometimes so there's something to be said for taking any comments with a large pinch of salt!

That is a definite bump penguin! Very cute! Smile

I'll join in with the bump pics.. Excuse the lack of trousers. In my defence I just did a wee after this was taken! (Not that it made much difference!) luckily my wedding dress cut just under my boobs so it skimmed past my tummy..I would have been stuffed if it was fitted the whole way down!

Oh good I'll be on the train home so I'll be able to check, glad for you that it is in a different hospital, going back to the same place isn't nice. I will definitely feel the same, positive thinking though! I have a very good feeling for you. Is mr penguin excited? X

paranoid I didn't even notice the second part to your name I'm so dull! We may well have past each other and we didn't even know it Wink ..do you live and work here? Did you just hear those fireworks?! I jumped out of my skin!

regular I see, hopefully they will just be supportive, that's the only helpful way to go after all! Hope you aren't too stressed at the prospect of telling them, fingers crossed it will be absolutely fine x

Lion King was as amazing as I remembered it, we bought the CD as well, I had it as a child but ruined it by playing it so much! I had to choke back tears through most of it!

Me too MrsFtn I just want to show it off but obviously can't yet. My mum text me an hour ago to say my 12 week scan letter has come through.. (I'd asked her to open it if it did) 2nd of June. 12 days to go.. Although I'll probably have a reassurance scan on Friday.

PresidentSpreadable · 22/05/2014 09:35

Very sweet little bumps there. I won't be posting a pic as due to being a chubby fucker I look about 6 months gone anyway!

My scan is on the 2nd June too Strawbs! 11+3 today.

ParanoidCoventGarden75 · 22/05/2014 09:38

strawbs I live there and work near Piccadilly.

regular fx your family will be supportive.

Your bumps are lovely Smile. Can I join in, this is this morning, 11+0, a month ago I needed a belt with those trousers Shock, and my belly grows soooo much by the evening but deflate again overnight Grin

MrsFtn · 22/05/2014 13:44

Loving the bump pics. I'll have a go tonight and see if I can upload one too.

Not long now Penguin. Hope you have an amazing scan and get to relax and enjoy seeing your little bean not looking so much like a bean any more! Keep us posted x

Penguin13 · 22/05/2014 15:32

Overjoyed to report that the scan went really well. Our little wriggly 6cm long penguin is doing just fine and was happily bobbing about. NT measurement was 1.2. They brought my due date forward to 1st Dec too Smile so so so relieved a few happy. Thank you so much for keeping me sane and for all your cheerleading everyone.

regularbutpanickingabit · 22/05/2014 18:45

Yay! Great news Pengs!

StrawbsAndCream · 22/05/2014 20:02

MrsFtn I see it! Very cute..mine does the same! Huge at night, slightly smaller in the morning until breakfast.

Penguin oh my goodness!!!!! Yaaaaaay!! So so happy for you and Mr penguin! A little penguin chick. Congratulations, how many days forward did they put you?

I'm safely home and staaarving.

Penguin13 · 22/05/2014 20:19

I was only put forward 4 days so not much in it. Feeling super emotional having told all the siblings and a few friends. It's all starting to seem real!

What lovely little bumps Paranoid and Strawbs Mine also grows throughout the day and is smaller in the morning but at the moment it's so bloated thanks to some lovely constipation (pregnancy is so glamorous) it's just growing and growing!!!

Great news penguin!!

I'm actively hiding my bump! Hoping that having a9 month old people are too scared to ask incase it's left over babyfat.
Lovely seeing everyone's, we're all pregnant, yay!

basgetti · 23/05/2014 07:18

Great news Penguin!

I'm still taking the cyclizine, it's a bit hit and miss but has reduced the sickness at least. My diabetes test was negative, not sure what to make of that but will have regular checks so I'm sure it will resurface at some point. I'm holding onto the sickness as a sign that things are definitely progressing as still got to wait another 3 weeks for my scan!

Hope everyone is doing well x

Penguin13 · 23/05/2014 10:46

Basgetti I'm really glad to hear the cyclizine has reduced your sickness but I hope it starts working more consistently for you and really dampens down both nausea and sickness.

I need your advice ladies. I work for a very small charity and I told my immediate supervisor and line manager about the pregnant very early on. I now need to tell my boss, whose assistant I am, about the pregnancy but being an extremely busy surgeon he is hardly ever in the office. I think the last time I saw him was mid-march. I know that I should ideally speak to him face to face but that could be in 2 months and I won't physically be able to hide it for that long. Would it be wildly unprofessional in these circumstances to give him a call to tell him instead? I just don't want the news to reach him via gossip as it's become too obvious.

penguin is there any chance of finding out when he is next in or requesting a 5 min meeting? Otherwise I'm sure a phone call is fine.

MrsFtn · 23/05/2014 17:36

Glad to hear you are doing a bit better basgetti. At least you don't have diabetes to contend with at the moment. Hope the next 3 weeks gpes quick for you. Are you planning a private scan before then?

penguin I think a phone call is perfectly acceptable under the circumstances. At least he will be hearing it from you directly and I'm sure he will understand.

I've just bought some maternity trousers to wear for work next week. What a mission that was - everywhere just seems to sell jeans or leggings. Finally got some in H&M.

I've been on a bit of a high since my scan on Tuesday but doubts and fears are starting to creep back in now. And for some reason I keep dreaming about being in a plane crash or seeing a plane crash. Luckily I have no plans for holiday abroad this year!

basgetti · 23/05/2014 18:30

No I'm not going to have a private scan, we considered it but I had 2 early scans and have quite a few symptoms so just going to wait it out! (And keep obsessively checking for any sign of a twinge, bleeding, loss of symptoms etc!)

Sorry you are feeling anxious MrsFtn, I think it's one of the awful things after having a MC that our 'innocence' and enjoyment of pregnancy is always going to be tainted by what we've experienced. I doubt I'll truly believe things are going to be okay until I've got the baby in my arms! x

ThankYouDebbie · 23/05/2014 20:11

Hello everyone, great to hear good scan news and to see lovely bumps starting to form.

And I know what you mean about the short-lived reassurance of scan Mrs Ftn, we had our second scan at what should have been 8w on Wednesday and although the good news is that we saw a heartbeat - great as we'd tried to steel ourselves for the worst after seeing nothing the previous week - the sonographer said the bean was measuring 6w3d, even more worrying because I'm pretty sure of my dates; I'm quite regular and we'd been TTC for ages. So we were excited for all of two minutes until she said that she'd have us back for another scan in two weeks and we realised she wasn't just arranging it to be nice for our benefit! So I feel it could very much go either way. Googling for stories gives mixed results of course but I haven't yet tried to search for actual research data. Although I'm not sure if knowing a likely percentage would help or not. Gah.
And I feel a little more embarrassed about the burgeoning bulge in my lap if I'm nearer 7 weeks than over 8 Blush although I'm clinging on to the fact that I haven't actually put any weight on, as I keep reminding my DP.

Penguin I would go for a phone call too, I honestly don't think it'd cross his mind that you 'should' have done it face to face. My old boss told me over the phone she was pregnant about two minutes before she emailed the entire office which bruised my ego slightly but I got over it, she said she would have told me if she'd had time but the secret was pretty much out by then anyway.

Penguin13 · 23/05/2014 22:32

Debbie I'm sorry that you didn't get a more conclusive result from your scan. Seeing a heartbeat is really positive though and I will be keeping everything crossed for some more good news in two weeks time. Horrible to be left in limbo though.

OP posts:
MrsFtn · 23/05/2014 22:43

Debbie your scans sound a lot like mine. I had one when I thought I was 6+4 to be told there was a gestational sac but nothing in it. I then went back 10 days later to be told there was a bean with a heartbeat measuring 5-6 weeks. I then had a third scan when I should have been 9-10 weeks according to the previous one to be told I was 11+5! I think there is a great margin for error on early scans which is why they are reluctant to do them. I really hope your next scan is a good result. You may even find you skip a week or so like me!

ThankYouDebbie · 24/05/2014 06:41

Thanks guys Thanks
It's just that everytime we think we'll get a clearer picture, we... don't. Nothing to do but keep waiting (down to 11 days already). And finish that college work I was moaning about last week.
