Oh, and I was getting a bit scared yesterday as baybee hadn't been moving much while I was under the weather for the last couple of days, but huge relief last night as she swam about a bit when I went to bed. Systems normal this morning as far as I can tell, I got a proper kicking at 5am and a bit more again now :)

Going braless was fine until The Little Mister lay ok one of my boobs this morning. Ouch!

FriendofDorothy · 15/03/2014 08:18

Lay on I mean. Bloody phone!

FrankelInFoal · 15/03/2014 08:46

Morning folks, having got through pregnancy without having to wear a bra at night I'm now in one permanently - feels like I've got two zeppelins attached to my chest - ow!

We're still having some feeding issues here and my left nipple is utterly shredded I'm hoping the midwife says she's gained weight again today so I can feel better about how I'm muddling through. She is getting milk but at times it feels more like a battle to get her to latch on. I'm praying it gets easier! I'll probably try and go to a breastfeeding group next week when I'm feeling up to leaving the house.

MIL is visiting this morning to meet her granddaughter. I'm hoping it's a short visit!

MyNameIsWinkly · 15/03/2014 09:00

Good luck with the MIL visit frank. Just what you need Hmm Between now and getting out next week, people on MN always seem to recommend the Kellymom website for feeding troubles, and the site has a directory of support lines here. Sorry if you've done that already.

Ouch to the boob crushing dor!

Glad all is fine draf, must have been a relief to get a kicking :)

KatAndKit · 15/03/2014 09:32

Has she been checked for tongue tie? Mini kit had one and bf so much easier after it was corrected. Can recommend la leche league for help. Phone helpline and perhaps there is someone local who can give support in person.

GingerScouse · 15/03/2014 09:38

Lansinoh, Lansinoh, Lansinoh for the shredded nips frank. My friend swore by it when bfing her first.

And remember it's a learning curve for both of you.

eurochick · 15/03/2014 09:47

Ouch to boob crushing and shredded nips!

I'm glad the Foal is gaining weight now frank. It sounds like you are doing a great job in some trying circumstances!

I'm quite "compact" (B cup pre-preg) so hope I can get through pregnancy without night support. I suspect if we have a hot summer another layer will be the last thing I want in the latter stages.

GingerScouse · 15/03/2014 10:01

Don't think I'll have the luxury euro, I started at an E Sad. Luckily they haven't really done anything much yet and I'm 18+3.

eurochick · 15/03/2014 13:02

Have they changed your due date then ginge? By the list above, you are 8 days ahead of me, but if you are 18+3 today, you are 2 weeks and one day ahead of me.

FrankelInFoal · 15/03/2014 13:46

Well following my post this morning, it appears we have a breakthrough! By coincidence I was browsing Kellymom anyway and found a few good links that have helped massively. I'm now completely ignoring the hold they showed me as it was just not working for us, and have found something so much better - she's latching much faster and it's not half as painful.

I'm also using Lansinoh by the bucketload - someone recommended starting to use it a few weeks before birth to help toughen things up. I've also got breast pads impregnated with the stuff and they're a big help.

Midwife has been and we've gained another 40g [hurrah] So all in all today is feeling like a good day. We may even brave a walk round the village later Grin

GingerScouse · 15/03/2014 14:01

Hoorah frank!

And yes, euro, it changed at my dating scan, EDD now 13th August.

ALittleFaith · 15/03/2014 14:51

Oh that's great news Frank! Yes I do the opposite hold of what's suggested! Faithlet's neck in the crook of my elbow. Only way it was comfy for us.

I sleep in vests with boob support and have done since about being halfway diffed. Will be weird when I stop.

FrankelInFoal · 15/03/2014 15:10

That's exactly what I'm doing Faith Grin

Quick question, is there such a thing as a 5-day growth spurt? Madam has been feeding pretty much hourly since 8am! I know about the 10-12 day growth spurt but wasn't expecting one this early!

eurochick · 15/03/2014 19:02

You've overtaken dor then ginge! I hope some more of the BESH will be joining us soon.

frank hurrah for cracking feeding.

I've spent the day down at Bluewater searching for something, anything, that might fit me as I am down to 2 jersey dresses and not much else for work now. I managed to get a couple of bits which should help for work until I can fill out mat wear.

KFZK dutifully trailed around after me. One funny interlude came as I tried on half of the maternity wear in Mothercare. There was one chair outside the changing rooms. He plonked himself on it. There were only 2 changing rooms and by the time I came out, there was a long queue. As we walked out of the shop I said I was surprised none of the queue of preggos wanted to sit. He went beetroot coloured and said he had been dicking around on his phone and hadn't thought to offer.... He's normally quite well trained and so was mortified and wanted to go back to apologise to the whole queue... Heh. Twonk.

ALittleFaith · 15/03/2014 19:33

Not paying attention euro, eh?!

Frank most likely she is just establishing supply - the more she feeds, the more milk it tells your body to produce. I recommend cake, biscuits, lots of fluids and tv. I also liked having a kindle to read as she wound down in the evenings. The first few weeks are tough but long term it's totally worth it! :)

KatAndKit · 15/03/2014 20:05

Great news that you have found a better feeding position. In my experience much of the first two or three months is a growth spurt, but yes, I think day 5 is likely to involve sitting with your norks out all day! Hopefully this will mean she will be back to birth weight quicker.

FriendofDorothy · 15/03/2014 22:11

Bugger me. I feel absolutely massive tonight. I look about 7 months pregnant! The bump has arrived!

I have put a bra back on tonight! Decided I don't like the fact that my nips point to my toes these days and wearing a bra is more comfy for the massive norks!

Ooo you have overtaken me Ginge - cheeky!

GingerScouse · 16/03/2014 04:48

[Grin] Not my fault, the midwife didn't believe my dates!

Plus odds are I'll have a tall baby anyway, I'm of average height but CGH is some kind of 6ft 4in giant.

Hooray for bump, I'm still hovering a bit between bump and just looking a bit chubby. Lots of stretching yesterday though, so maybe it'll make a move soon!

In irresponsible news, I'm off skiing for a week today, so I'll be a bit AWOL unless I can find free wifi out in Austria Grin

maamalady · 16/03/2014 06:30

Have a nice time, ginge :)

Glad to hear E is feeding away happily, Frank!

Thanks, winks, yes, massive relief! She's still kicking away merrily, which is very reassuring even though I'm not yet quite back to normal.

In completely different news, it's all drama at the first race of the formula one season - I can't remember if any BESH/PESH give a crap, or if it's just me?

OP posts:
CatsCantFlyFast · 16/03/2014 06:32

Draf I give a crap...it's all fascinating so far

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 16/03/2014 07:26

Well done on E's weight gain, frank and finding something that works for you. She is gorgeous!

I am intrigued by the bra-wearing to bed, it hadn't crossed my mind and I started at an E as well. I am now on an F, but it seems to be my middle back that is expanding, now. Which makes sense with the bump growth spurt and the pains. They've settled completely and Lembie has enjoyed the regained freedom by doing summersaults or so it feels.

Poor you draf at the lull in movement. The midwifes told me that you only really need to get concerned about movement changes from 27 weeks, which is nearly, isn't it?

I've hit third trimester, with two medical professionals (the midwife on Fri and a fysio on Thurs) telling me to take it easy and behave like a diffed person. So yesterday I slept for 2,5 hours in the afternoon. However, now I need to do the work that fell by the wayside in the no sleep, pain and general flapping on Friday. And I cannot be bothered!

maamalady · 16/03/2014 07:41

Yep, 26+3 today, driz. All seems to be okay, though, thankfully.

Hmm, work plus fitting in naps (and panic) is awkward! Prioritising your health is the best you can do, though.

I was wondering about your vests for sleeping, faith - they sound more comfy than sleeping in a bra. Could you put breast pads in them in case of leakage etc?

OP posts:
SinkyMalinks · 16/03/2014 07:54

I sleep in soft sports bras, and have since early diffedness (really sore boobs were my main first tri symptom). I tried a maternity/nursing sleep bra (Emma Jane brand or something like that - but it's. Or really any good for big buzzum). So I have 2 increasingly bobbly sweaty Betty sports bras/crop tops. Would be absolutely no use to exercise in, but excellent for mooching round the house and sleeping in. I'm planning on wearing mine in the birthing pool (if this bugger ever makes a move and I wear anything Grin )

In that news, I also do not reccomend the hot curry Envy. I think I'm now going to avoid any old wives tales. Although I might try and convince ghj sex would be a good idea (mainly because it might be the last in a while...)

I am a big F1 fan. Especially as the whole family are involved in a fantasy competition so it is very competitive!
