LH1981 my pregnancy is a similarly badly kept secret - MIL guessed at 6 weeks and I felt so awful I just told her the truth, which then meant I had to tell my family too, and then I had to let work know (partly because of my health, partly because of timetabling for summer/autumn). Now at 9weeks loads of people know, but they would all know if the worst were to happen, so I'm trying not to stress, and I'm actually relieved as I really hate lying. Just hoping all goes well for he scan (don't have a date yet and I really want something to count down to!). DS is almost 3, and he points at my tummy and asks what the baby is doing, he also says he has a 'baby in my tummy' (actually it was a jeep up his jumper lol).

Kittyrose1 · 11/02/2014 20:08

Hey ladies
Cookie hope the scan goes well. On the subject of people knowing, it's still only me and dh but I'm dying to tell ppl now. I am 8w today based on Lmp, all day though I've Benin worrying about mmc :( I'd never heard of them before and now I'm thinking the worse which I know is silly. I'm now thinking about paying for a private scan as 12w scan not until 14th march - I'm i being ridiculous?

Lime19 · 11/02/2014 20:12

Evening ladies! Hope everyone is well.

I will be 10 weeks tomorrow, I feel time is going so slowly! Scan booked on 27th! Can't wait! Had an early scan at 7 weeks, saw heartbeat :) today I have been having stabbing pains in my lady parts (sorry tmi) lasting just a second at a time. Anyone else had anything like that? I don't have it right now but it happened today and I had 6 or so separate stabs! Might call epu tomorrow.

I have been feeling super emotional lately too... I was a blubbering mess at the end of call the midwife!!! Mr lime thought it was funny I got into such a state.

Lime19 · 11/02/2014 20:16

It is a worry kittyrose...Id pay for a private scan every week if I could :) can you tell it is my first baby?! mr lime says I'm very impatient...very true. I keep saying I want it to be September now! He says being pregnant will teach me to be patient and good things come to those who wait etc.

Kittyrose1 · 11/02/2014 20:21

Hi lime, your glad you had an early scan then? I'm so not patient either and I know I can't change anything but it's the waiting and not knowing I can't stand! Dh is same as mr lime and tells me good things come to those who wait, but also is happy for a scan if I really feel it necessary. What to do, it's not cheap hey..

broodylicious · 11/02/2014 20:23

lime it doesn't change with your second dc! I'm a constant worrier and need that scan!

cookielove · 11/02/2014 20:25

There was a heart beat!! Yay!!

broodylicious · 11/02/2014 20:27

kitty same here re mmc. DH's sil and an ex colleague of mine both had one and I just dread turning up to the scan and being told the worst. But I'm trying to be positive and think that worrying is not going to change things, only waste away days and nights. Such a frustrating time, this first 12 weeks!!

Lime19 · 11/02/2014 20:29

I actually had my scan because of pain, I didn't pay. It was at the epu. I had been getting period type cramps so strong that they woke me up! It was the best thing. Seeing the heartbeat. To put my mind at rest and make sure there was actually something in there. I am still worried for the scan at 12 weeks though. I guess I'm just a worrier!

Kittyrose1 · 11/02/2014 20:32

Thanks broody I'm glad I'm not alone in the neurotic pg women boat ;) hehe, in all serious though I know how common it can be and it must be such an awful experience. I think I, just going to book a private scan as if it's all good it will be worth the moment settling my mind till the 12 wk scan.
Yay cookie fab news, was it amazing?

Kittyrose1 · 11/02/2014 20:32

Moment = money

Lime19 · 11/02/2014 20:34

Good news cookie!

LH1981 · 11/02/2014 20:34

Lime, could it be the start of a uti?
Or just general pregnancy pains - don't worry about it too much unless it gets worse. I'd just drink plenty of water/cranberry in case of uti.

Katharine, I do find it easier with people knowing actually, but also understand those who want it kept under wraps. I'm all for telling anyone who you'd want support from should the worst happen anyway, and for me, we're such a tight-knit group, that telling one means telling all really!
There's a woman at the school who keeps asking how I am and I know she knows because my son told me that her little girl told him in the playground. So she must have overheard something, but still refuse to tell her and she keeps giving me these 'knowing' looks and for some reason she's annoying me and I want to tell her to keep her beak out! Must be the hormones! Blush

Just spent ages making dinner only to not be able to eat once it was ready. I was really looking forward to it (fishcake, boiled new potatoes and stuffed pepper) and now it's turning my stomach!

Kittyrose1 · 11/02/2014 20:36

Ah I see lime sorry I thought you'd paid privately for one, I'm so glad they check on nas when you get symptoms like that. I wonder what the stabbing pains are about in the lady parts, will u mention it to your midwife or gp? Im sure there's a logical explanation. I keep getting twinges in my lower abdomen and when I cough or sneeze I get shorting Spain's - I'm guessing it's all the ligaments loosening up.

Lime19 · 11/02/2014 20:39

Hope it's just stretching. Going to call midwife tomorrow and I will report back. No other symptoms. Just hope it's nothing bad.

Kittyrose1 · 11/02/2014 20:41

Sorry my typing truly is awful! Shooting Spain's lol

beckworth · 11/02/2014 20:49

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is finding it difficult to keep it a secret!

I fully intended to wait until after the 12 week scan, but so far I have told the colleague I'm closest to at work, because I knew someone once who started miscarrying at work and I couldn't face that happening and not having someone to turn to. I also had to tell my boss today, because like some others, he was making workload plans for the rest of the year, and I would have felt awful to let him get on with it and then throw a spanner in the works in a few weeks' time. On Friday I am having lunch with a friend I don't see often, who has already texted me to say she is the same number of weeks pregnant as me. I would have felt such a cow to sit there and let her tell me all about that, not say anything, and then in a few weeks have to text her and say 'oh by the way....'. Oh, and then next weekend I am going on a pre-planned spa weekend with a bunch of girl friends, and will have to tell them because I just can't come up with a decent excuse for not drinking, OR going in the sauna, steam room or jacuzzi!

So much for not saying anything til after the 12 week scan, if you count the fact that my best friend has almost certainly guessed, it's the worst kept secret in the world!

cookielove · 11/02/2014 20:55

It was great. Really quick. But seeing the hb which was so clear was just amazing.

To all those worrying about mmc. I had one. And it is scary but you just have to say to yourselves today I am pregnant!

xxmissbrightsidexx · 11/02/2014 20:57

Don't you just hate how your once favourite foods can make you feel so sick? OH insisted on Dominos tonight, he got me my usual side and personal pizza, I had to force a few wedges down and 2 slices of pizza. He's not happy with how little I'm eating, but I can't help it :( When I do fancy things lately it's always sweets or cakes lol.
In other news, my sister told me that she's pregnant today!! Nobody else knows, except me.. Think she's due in October by the looks of online duedate thingy, Im over the moon for her :) xx

Metalhead · 11/02/2014 22:25

I've got my private scan tomorrow afternoon to see if bean has continued to grow after the first scan which put me over a week behind my dates... wish me luck!

Lime19 · 11/02/2014 23:22

Good luck metal! :) Let us know how you go.

Our dd is unwell, nothing major just nasty cough and cold, feeling clingy and needing lots of love. We co sleep when she's ill as it really settles her. She just woke up and rather than the mardy cry she often does as she's still tired, she planted a big snog on my face. Twice. Then cuddled me for ages (in toddler time!) This ladies, is what it's all about SmileSmile [warm and fuzzy feelings]

Good luck metal x
