TobyLerone · 04/03/2014 21:46

Aaawwww, felix, your poor niece :(

Felix90 · 04/03/2014 22:15

I know, I want to go home and give her and my sister a big hug but they are an hour down the motorway Sad

I've read about the hip thing with babybjorns but I do think it can't be that bad for them otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to sell them surely?! Aren't they one of the most popular carriers around?

Spged · 04/03/2014 22:40

Oh thanks puggle will have to google the baby bjorn instructions. We have a friend's one on loan and it's killing my shoulders but it's so much easier than the pram!
Currently walking round the flat with a windy unsettled baby :-( it's been a crazy busy day with doctors 6 week check (actually nine weeks), nct coffee, surprise visitors, supermarket, dog walking, casserole cooked and even helped DH with his work. Ready for a long sleep (I wish!!)

Spged · 04/03/2014 22:41

Sorry to hear about your niece Felix. Fingers crossed they sort it out

MrsGSR · 05/03/2014 00:21

Keeping fingers crossed your niece's surgery goes well felix

Does anyone know if the 8 week injections can be done at 7 and a half weeks? I'm away from 7+4 until 10 weeks :/

TobyLerone · 05/03/2014 02:01

They'll probably do them at 10 weeks, MrsG, but ask your surgery.

BookTart · 05/03/2014 07:58

Both my 6 week and Dd's 8 week appointments were automatically booked by my GP surgery at 10 weeks mrsg so it is fine to wait until then - I checked with the HV.

MrsGSR · 05/03/2014 10:35

Great, thank you!

Pidgy · 05/03/2014 13:08

Thanks for the well wishes. Still feeling rotten but think its a combination of a bad cold and tiredness! A friend bought me round some menthol crystals which are great for relieving congestion. Love them!

felix your poor niece. Hope it doesn't reject.

enormouse we have the Stuva cot for Lara. I love it! It's smaller than a cot bed tho but perfect for her small room. It's good with the storage drawers underneath but they didn't seem to have many in stock when we went (unless we wanted green) and they dont deliver.
We have a cot bed from M&s for DS. I think it's solid wood except for ends. It's called 'Chloe' cot bed. Once he's outgrown it then Lara will have it.

toby your day sounds tiring! Hope you got some better sleep last night.

DS is down for a nap so I'm hoping Lara drops off soon too so I can sleep. Wish me luck!!

Pidgy · 05/03/2014 13:10

mrsg I was always told they can't do the jabs before the age, only after, and you still need the 4 week gap. I had a similar situation so DS has some a few weeks late

alteredimages · 05/03/2014 14:51

hello everyone.

jabs are fun, huh? N had his this morning and he is grizzly. Not feverish, doesn't seem to be in pain but just grumpy.

Was feeling organised and took all the clothes he has grown out of to the mother and infant protection centre. there were so many outfits and all except two or three he had worn no more than once! At least two were never worn. It makes me glad I got them all from the charity shop.

Babybjorns...remember the massive whinge I had? Well, I realised that firstly I had the straps on funny so he was too high up and secondly I went out with the pram several times. I take it all back! I love the babybjorn because it guarantees a quiet baby til I am home and it is so easy to put on. In the pram he starts screaming after 30 mins max. The babybjorn got much easier to use after 6 weeks because I wasn't so worried about smothering him since his neck muscles are stronger. I have a babybjorn original which doesn't have a waist strap but at 5 and a bit kilos it is still pretty comfy even for longer trips. I think about three to four hours is the longest I have used it with breaks to let him stretch a bit.

Anyone else finding the pram is getting snug? I think from now on I will have to use the car seat on the buggy base. A bit surprised as N is only 57cm so really not that big for two months. It is the width that is becoming a problem.

alteredimages · 05/03/2014 14:57

Oh yeah, tell me if I am just being pathetic, but anyone else ferling a bit sad about us almost finishing ourlast ever ante natal thread? I think this msy be tied up with deciding that N is our last and giving away all the clothes. DD was such a nightmare I didn't think I would ever have another. N is great and I am really enjoying having him but we are now broke and living in a one room flat. I wasn't keen on having N right up until the birth and now I know how great babies can be, that's it. Sad

alteredimages · 05/03/2014 15:07

Sorry for the me me me tone.

felix I really hope that your niece's surgery has gone well and you are feeling better pidgy.

toby I now can't write pidgy's name without hearing "i'll have to get my pidgy out" in my head and trying not to laugh out loud, as though I don't seem crazy enough already. Grin

Naturegirl82 · 05/03/2014 17:03

Hi everyone been a bit awol recently. Been reading but not had much time to post.

Everything going well here. Olivia is still feeding and sleeping well (apart from past few nights because of a cold Sad ). We have our 6 week check tomorrow so hoping everything is ok. Olivia has quite a lot of baby acne and some cradle cap at the minute so will see what the doc says.

Hoping to take O swimming at the weekend so bought her the cutest swimming costume today.

Thanks for all the positive stories about Dh's quitting jobs. As fate would have it Dh handed in his notice but work were trying to keep hin, then his work was told they need to employ someone to do the job Dh was looking for so he will be staying and doing this new job so it all worked out really well Smile .

Hope your niece is ok Felix

Angelesque · 05/03/2014 17:22

altered I am feeling sad and excited about us leaving antenatal and moving to postnatal... I blame the post-preggo hormones...

nature DS has lots of baby acne too... Started on his nose and has spread outwards across his face, poor little mite. Would be interested to hear if your doc has any advice on helping it to clear - MW and HV have just told me it's normal and should clear on its own. DS looks like a mini spotty teenager!

Felix90 · 05/03/2014 17:27

Nature I really recommend Dentinox shampoo for cradle cap. It's good stuff! Cleared up Sylvie's scalp within a couple of days

Niece has just gone in to surgery now. Waiting to hear news from my sister in about 45 mins. I'm still struggling with what to say to her to make her feel better about the whole thing Sad it's terrible but it really could have been a lot worse. It won't really help if I say that though!

I've spent today looking up recipes and making shopping lists as I'm going to try low-carbing. Got a hell of a lot of weight to lose now as I was a couple of stones overweight pre-pregnancy anyway!! Is anyone in the same boat?

Felix90 · 05/03/2014 17:28

I asked two different GP's about baby acne and they both said it was normal and would clear up eventually too. It's getting slightly better but seems to go then come back.

MrsGSR · 05/03/2014 18:11

altered, I'm still getting really emotional about silly things, I was hoping this would stop after giving birth! I almost cried when sorting through L's clothes to put the newborn bits away, and she's my first baby of (probably) a few!

Felix I'm 3 stone heavier than I was when I got married :( most of it I put on when ttc! Only half a stone more than I was at my booking in appointment though, which doesn't sound as bad.

I haven't been giving L gaviscon for the post few days as she seems to be improving a lot. My diet had been a lot different since being home, I've eaten cheese and chocolate but haven't been eating bread or scones (which I was eating a lot of as they're easy to grab) so I'm thinking gluten might have been the problem. I was considering low carbing anyway!

flyawayblue · 05/03/2014 18:42

Yikes, felix, your poor niece.

We have a babybjorn and a moby, not got on with the babybjorn yet but want to keep trying as its really easy to put on. Sadly at the moment it kills my back.

Alice is 5 weeks today and things are starting to get easier, or at least i'm starting t understand things a bit more. Her tongue tie chop was two weeks ago and the last 4 days or so feeding has been so much easier for me and her. I now understand the stuck on the sofa feeding comments as before she fed for a max of 5 mins. We've also had 3 days of almost a pattern at night; down 10-11, feed 2am, wake 5:45 change / feed. It's something I can work with.

Swannykazoo · 05/03/2014 18:50

Anyone else think its getting harder not easier? Having real battles with Hugh - he screams himself silly if he's even a tiny bit tired, but he'll only sleep on the move, usually in the sling, and its a real effort to get him there. Nights aren't too mad or I'd have thrown myself in the river - at least he'll BF to sleep then, though I'd love for him to go in the cot rather than sleep beside me/on me. He has had a wee cold but I honestly think he's screamed himself hoarse last two days.
Went out for first coffee with two of the antenatal group mums and just felt useless - mine had to be fed constantly or jiggled - the other ytwo babies were settled in their prams and could actually be put down without kicking off.
He's just woken up from a doze straight to screaming again & just seems so unhappy.
Almost everything I've searched MN for - not settling/velcroness/cot refusing etc - has had posters saying it all just clicked at 10 weeks and crying peaks at 6-8 weeks. Ours has definitely been ramping up from 6 weeks Sad I know in the great scheme of things he's only tiny and I should just chill but he's just getting so upset with me I feel I'm letting him down

alteredimages · 05/03/2014 19:12

puggle weeks six to eight were like that for me. I was getting really desperate because I felt like the worst should be over but it just kept getting harder. Lots of night time crying where he had previously slept through, constant feeding again. It was rough, but things are back to normal again now at nine weeks.

alteredimages · 05/03/2014 19:13

Sorry, forgot to ask, how old is Hugh? DD settled later, closer to three months.

MrsGSR · 05/03/2014 19:21

puggle your not letting him down, and he's not getting upset with you, just upset. I understand a bit about going out for coffee, I met up with a friend who's baby is 3 weeks older and he sat happily whilst L screamed whenever I want feeding her. We have managed to introduce her to most of our family but they've mostly just seen two little feet poking out from under my shawl!

DHs stepdad says he's never known a baby to cry as much as L, but my MIL keeps telling me I'm doing everything right, and some babies just cry more. Apparently my DH was worse! This probably isn't helpful at all, but you're not alone! We often seem to take one step forward and two back!

alteredimages · 05/03/2014 19:24

felix I was overweight too before pregnancy and I swelled spectacularly during. I then managed to gain weight after the birth from eating crap and being glued to the sofa! Shock

I am getting back to healthy eating habits just this past week. I think I have noticed a difference just from cutting out juice, sweets and snacks.

Swannykazoo · 05/03/2014 19:26

Sorry should have said - he's 10weeks and a couple of days - hence my upset that he seems to be getting worse when everything says it should be getting better. Bloody baby hasn't read the books!
