Can we have a version of tiny bastard for 'd'hs please?!

Mine didn't come home until 3am last night and I'm shattered today as waited up for him with baby on me so couldn't sleep. He's now only just left for work (nearly 4 hours late) as he was tired... Although it did mean I could have a shower this morning which was nice

Finally need to brave going outside up pick up a valentines card although it'll have to be a crappy one from the post office! and then will get ready for our meal out tonight including bathing Henry as he is looking a bit grubby Blush

MrsVDB · 14/02/2014 10:00

Happy birthday frizz hope your dh is feeling better

Sultanajo · 14/02/2014 10:17

Yay angel glad you are home! Re sleeping in their own bed, I found I ended up just giving him time and finally at 4 weeks old he went off my chest and into his bed nest for night sleeps! Started off that he had to be really deeply asleep before I could move him across but now I put him in as he is dosing which is awesome! We tried everything prior to that, but it only finally worked for me when he was ready. Omg the sleep deprivation from the first few weeks!!! Daytime he will still only sleep on one of us or sometimes on a cushion (which I rarely do as I have to watch him like a hawk, so it's just more relaxing if he is on me)!

However, he will go in his swing seat now quite often for ten mins, which gives me time to eat my dinner with both hands at the same time as DH which is amazing! (toby we have been doing the shift system too, or more often I have been eating with one hand which pisses me off as DH cuts up my food, but in really large chunks that have me nearly choking, but don't feel I can ask him to cut it smaller as he has just come in from work and cooked for us, so it seems ungrateful...!!!) Henry will also sometimes entertain himself for ten mins before kicking off if I pop him in his Moses basket and he isn't ravenous, so that's all progress!

I bought an ergo bundle of joy carrier yesterday and compared with the other rip off piece of crap sling we had it seems awesome! Of course it's pissing down today so can't get out for a walk with it, but it's nice and secure and the weight is spread over shoulders and hips which makes a huge difference! My friend tried the ergo and manduka this week and said the manduka didn't seem as supportive, which made up my mind....

enormouse · 14/02/2014 10:23

I can't take Ewan the dream sheep seriously as its the name of my pfb! Just feels wrong calling it Ewan.

'Tiny bastard' does need a 'large useless bastard' counterpart. I vote Toby to write the lyrics.

Sultanajo · 14/02/2014 10:28

Valentines we are doing bugger all to celebrate. Will probably be choosing a bathroom mirror online as next week is "rip out the piece of shit health hazard of a bathroom and replace it with a nice shiny new one week"!

Getting worried Henry's mucous won't have improved by Monday when I was planning on braving the motorway with him to take him to my mums for the day for the first time, to get him out of the dusty noisy chaos thats bound to be day one, but if he is too sniffly I won't be able to put him in his car seat and drive for that long as mum lives an hour away. Really hope I am wrong and his mucous will have miraculously cleared!

By the way, if anyone is looking for awesome bibs that keep chests dry, I just invested in some "funky giraffe" bandana style ones from amazon as recommended by a friend and they are awesome! Bit pricey for bibs but totally worth it to avoid the soggy neck line Henry was ending up with!Smile

Sultanajo · 14/02/2014 10:29

Lol enormouse! Grin

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 14/02/2014 10:30

frizz happy birthday!

mrsv where was your tiny bastard DH?Hmm Until 3am? Jeez.

I might rename the FB groups to Tiny Bastards. Oh, and the Tim Minchin lullaby is immense. Grin

V day plans are to go to a bf cafe and out for coffee after, then fillet steak stroganoff for dinner (wanted fillet steak, but can't bear to think of it going cold whilst A screams/feeds, and with the sauce it could be reheated if needed.

DH got me a jar of bonbons, in all different flavours, he knows me too well. We had a lovely snuggly moment in bed with A feeding quietly earlier, which was nice.

Sultanajo · 14/02/2014 10:34

That sounds lush humpty! Cracks me up the things you choose to eat now from a practical point of view. Went to the pub the other day and chose lasagne as knew it would stay hot for a long time and easy to eat with just a fork!

Felix90 · 14/02/2014 10:48

Happy birthday frizz!

Angel glad you are home Smile

For those with an ergo - I can't use it on my own as I can reach and do up the buckle thing at the back. Is there a trick I'm missing? I'd like to be able to do it up and take Sylvie out as I struggle to get the pram down the front steps of our house.

We were meant to be getting the M&S deal but never made it out to get one Sad DP does the butty run at work on a Friday so he just made a special detour home and delivered me a bacon egg and mushroom cob! Best V day present ever. Also he's told me I've got to stay awake this morning/afternoon as something is being delivered. I assume it's flowers and I am convinced his Mum ordered them because she's done the same for his BIL... I overheard them when we visited at the weekend. We will see what arrives...

Felix90 · 14/02/2014 10:49

We should name the postnatal thread tiny bastards but I don't know how well it would go down with the rest of MN haha Grin

TobyLerone · 14/02/2014 11:03

Glad 'Tiny Bastard' was a success :o
I vote yes for the name of the FB group! And the postnatal group Wink

Hmmmm...a song for large wankers? 'Penis' by Bananarama?

BookTart · 14/02/2014 11:10

Another vote for the group/thread name change. I'm not doing the dance to 'Venus' toby. DH is off sick, and probably thinks he's hallucinating now :D

No Valentine's Day here, never is. It always makes me a bit :(, but this year he's too ill anyway.

I've been struggling with Persephone a bit, so it has been really helpful to read everyone else's trials. Still no luck getting her into her crib, so I've just ordered a Ewan. I've been in lots of pain with the feeding still, so I went back to see the lactation consultant yesterday and she's confirmed Percy's tongue tie. The hospital have just phoned to give me an appointment for 10th March, when she'll be 8-9 weeks (so quit big to have it divided). I've asked DH to come so he can ask questions and see if he agrees that it really needs doing. Poor little baby though (even though I know it is the right thing to do).

Happy birthday frizz! Have a good one :)

TobyLerone · 14/02/2014 11:16

Poor Percy :(

DH is WFH today because he's working out his notice and he has nothing to do, so he figured he'd be better off doing nothing at home. We're going out to lunch in a bit. My mum reckons she's discovered a new café which does the most delicious food. Can't wait!

Felix90 · 14/02/2014 11:38

I am finding it amusing that everyone is buying enormouse's PFB to get their new babies to sleep Grin

MrsVDB · 14/02/2014 11:42

Discount code for funky giraffe bibs - 20% off everything FGBFEB14

I haven't got round to using the bibs yet as just tuck a muslin round his neck at the moment but got some lovely ones. Have one that says my first valentines day for him to wear out for our meal tonight cheesy but why not!

humpty he'd been out for a curry then went to a club. He's out 3 nights in a row next week too for work things. I can't really complain as my job involved lots of late nights too not as exciting as it sounds! Banker with lots of 'networking' events so I know sometimes you really don't have much choice

alteredimages · 14/02/2014 12:01

Def call thread tiny bastards!

Seems like the ergo is a popular choice. Just how hot and sweaty do they get though? May be using it in Egypt with 35 degree temps, and DS is like a radiator as it is.

Naturegirl82 · 14/02/2014 12:12

Happy birthday frizz

I hope mr frizz is feeling better

Felix90 · 14/02/2014 13:09

Altered the ergo isn't too enclosed unless you use the newborn insert. Once they are big enough to not use the insert, the sides are quite open so their legs and arms can dangle out the sides, if that's makes sense! It's a canvas type fabric and the only thick padding is round your hips and on the straps.

alteredimages · 14/02/2014 13:23

Thanks felix. Will try and get the performance one which is lighter weight material too. Can carry DD with it too, so may have nour in the buggy and her on my back if I need to get somewhere quickly.

MrsV which retailer is the giraffe bibs code for?

MrsVDB · 14/02/2014 14:01

altered it's from their website direct. If you google funky giraffe bibs it should come up :)

Sunshineseeker80 · 14/02/2014 14:18

Happy birthday frizz! Hope you have a good day

Another one bouncing round the kitchen singing tiny bastard....genius. Also like 'Penis' for 'D'Hs. Mine told me las night I should be grateful he hadn't asked me to cook dinner or fetch food from the shop. He thinks he is going out of his way to walk 25metres out of his way on the way back to the train station to go to sainsburys after work.

Been back to feeding club and they think we might need to go back to tongue tie clinic as they may not have cut it deep enough. Also need to rule out thrush so need prescription today but no GP appointments available so have to go to emergency drop in from 3pm. Can't think of anywhere I'd rather be with a grizzly baby. Am seriously fed up of feeding stuff. Is all consuming and only my sheer bloody minded ness stopping me from giving up. I don't even know why I don't want to give up anymore. Blah, Not doing Emily any harm though, little tank went from 9lbs 10oz to 10lb 6.5oz in the last 10 days.

Think am going to cave and get a dummy later though. Any tips on how to use it? Just want it for nights really as at the moment she settles by sucking on my finger which requires an act of contortion to get from bed into Moses basket while lying down.

Hope you all have good weekends xx

Felix90 · 14/02/2014 15:15

Sunshine that's rubbish Sad hopefully it can be sorted and you can carry on bf. We gave Sylvie a dummy recently and it's worked wonders getting her to settle. She used to suck on DP's finger for ages for comfort! I originally bought some Heava (I think they are called!) dummies which are 100% natural rubber and moulded in once piece so there's no joints for bacteria to get in to, but she spat it back out straight away no matter how many times we tried! They were expensive too! DP's mum bought some plain old Avent ones she saw in Aldi and she will suck on one for ages! She's been really unsettled recently, even after feeds, and she settles and goes to sleep very quickly with the dummy Smile I know it will be a royal pain in the arse trying to get her to give it up once she's older but I'm not going to think about that right now Grin

fryingpantoface · 14/02/2014 16:04

We use MAM orthodontist ones, Henry loves them

TobyLerone · 14/02/2014 16:12

We've tried dummies with Meredith, but she doesn't seem to know how to suck them. She can keep them in her mouth for a little while but she hasn't quite got the hang of it. We keep trying. Sometimes they calm her a bit.

Sultanajo · 14/02/2014 16:46

Just went for a short walk with the ergo. Henry slept the whole time and because using the newborn insert which is like a sleeping bag, I just put him in his vest and sleepsuit with a hat and out we went. I got really quite hot but he was fine! What was weird was I felt pregnant again as it was quite hard work walking with him on my front, but great exercise! I was worried about his feet being squished as with the insert they stay inside the carrier but they were fine and Henry slept the whole time bless him!

He is full of beans now and whinging however! Regretting going for a knackering walk slightly now as could really do with a quiet chill out but apparently Henry has other plans! Bless him! Brew Off I go to entertain his lordship! Good job he is cute and throwing me random smiles like a cheeky monkey! Smile
