congratulations on the new arrivals, hope you are recovering well.
how many more wee precious bundles to come?

am I the first to have their little one get the 8weeks jabs?
My poor wee soul was tag teamed by 2 H/V's and got them both in opposite legs at the same time..... he cried :(
and is now so worn out that he is asleep....in his moses basket shock horror!

good to hear 'relations' are starting to resume in time for valentines day. hope you all are being careful lol. I had considered the implant (cant remember who asked about it) but after my last experience with it breakthrough bleeding constantly and a never satisfied sexual desire I found it so sore to be removed after only 8 weeks that I vowed never again. I went for the POP this time and keep forgetting to take the pills

re bottle feeding, wee james drinks less through the day and from 7pm he wants fed every 2hrs! all through the bloomin night -_- oh for a good nights sleep!

re nails..... I bought the rounded tip scissors. have had to trim (then file, I love doing my nails and cant resist a wee file of James's) over 4 times now, they just grow soo fast.

wish his head hair would grow as well, he is still a baldy

was it frizz or felix who said about the rash/wee spots on the little ones face/neck? did you find out what it is? I asked a midwife today as she was preparing me for the dreaded smear test and she suggested going back to the GP to ask as he may need an emollient cream

little treasure has woken crying again, hope he settles soon and it isn't anything to do with the jabs

speak soon

Felix90 · 11/02/2014 18:41

Curly we have the jabs on Monday! Not looking forward to it. It was me asking about the spots as I thought it was a milk allergy but I don't think it is now. They seem to come and go. Going to ask at the doctors on monday! Will let you know what they say Smile

Frizz1986 · 11/02/2014 19:12

My little one had spots too. Gp and hv said baby acne even though it looked really bad and had spread to her shoulders and chest.
Its def going now though. The spots started to clear and then her cheeks went really rough and red and now its all going away.

Have found a way to stop the sucking/clicking noise when breastfeeding.....squeezing my boob a bit while she feeds.oping that will help with the gas too.

I have got dh a card for valentines but we wont be doing much. Am hoping dh will make me jamie olivers mac and cheese for tea but normally i end up helping anyway. (The cheese sauce is basically different cheeses melted, not a white sauce) It is my bday though so cooking me tea is what i have asked for as a gift, its not for v day,
Feel a bit sorry for dh....wife with a birthday on vday and now a daughter with a birthday xmas eve. We'll have to aim for halloween or something next time lol!

Maybe try the next teat up felix? We're on size two teats at the moment, have been since week one.

Henry has spots, they are clearing up mow, but it looks like he has cradle cap on his forehead... Such fun!

i used to have the implant in, it was brilliant the first two times, but the third one lasted 3 months. I was horny all the time and wasn't satisfied at all. Then i was put on pop but got pregnant anyway. So vasectomy for dh and I'm not sure for me.

MrsVDB · 11/02/2014 19:31

Henry had a blotchy rash with little white spots when we were in hospital which came and went. Apparently it's pretty common and he spots are filled with allergens. Can't remember the name I'm afraid but its cleared up now

Felix90 · 11/02/2014 19:53

We are on size 2 teats already so not sure it's the milk not flowing fast enough. I think it must be because she's got trapped wind so is trying to squeeze it out and feed at the same time!

I am considering the implant as I was on the pill when I got pregnant (I kept forgetting to take it Shock) so need something I don't really have to think about. Has anyone ever had the coil? The thought of it terrifies me.

TarkaTheOtter · 11/02/2014 20:23

Alex had that pimply rash (on face/neck/shoulders) and hv today said it was just a baby rash and nothing to worry about.

flyawayblue · 11/02/2014 20:46

dh is out and I've put Alice down in our room for her sleep.. have the monitor but how do people do this, it's terrifying! She's always been asleep in the same room as me or dh before.

Oh and for the rash / spot discussion Alice has some spots, poor girl is not doing well with my hormones (via bm) as she's had swollen breasts, slight discharge bleeding and now spots. Feel very mean.

Felix90 · 11/02/2014 21:10

I don't think I'll worry about the rash then, it seems pretty normal.

Sorry I am asking loads of questions today - those with the dreaded piles, did you have to see your GP for medication or is there something you can buy over the counter? I've been fine post-birth until about a week ago and now I'm in agony and bleeding every time (sorry tmi!!). Got post natal check on Monday but is they anything I can do to relieve it in the meantime?

Felix90 · 11/02/2014 21:11

Fly I'm sure she will be fine! Just keep checking on her if you're worried just to keep your mind at rest Smile

GummiBear74 · 11/02/2014 21:14

We also have baby acne - it can look quite nasty, but seems to change hourly. HV came this morning and confirmed that it's hormones and nothing to worry about, just doesn't look very nice.

I was also thinking about the coil for contraception. It seems nice and easy, so I'm going to ask about it at my 6 week appointment. DH is concerned about how effective it is, but considering it took over 4 years and 4 cycles of IVF to get pregnant, I'm not too worried (although how bloody typical would it be if I did fall pregnant accidentally now)!

felix, I'm BF and we have exactly the same fussing, pulling away and squeaking going on, usually in the evenings. I've given up trying to work out what's up.

MerryPops · 11/02/2014 22:07

Evening everyone, my we have been active today! Only on a baby forum would you get talk about sex, piles, poo and skin complaints! Glamorous eh Grin

Firstly congrats to angel you got there in the end. A few of us had the induction/emcs route it seems, naughty babies.

Xander had mw and hv appts today. After losing 11oz at 1st weigh in he has regained 6oz so bf seems to be going ok. Hv had a few things to say about us co sleeping but needs must at the moment.

Today has been his best day so far for being content in the day so we are bracing ourselves foe a rough night, we are also going to try him in his basket again tonight. Wish us luck Hmm

Sunshineseeker80 · 11/02/2014 22:27

Congrats on the new arrival angel , gorgeous name.

Sex... Oh my, I am impressed ladies. Seems a bit too ambitious for me right now. Especially as it would take valuable sleeping time.

Took Emily for her visa medicals for Australia today. Getting to the West End for a specific time was a drama...however I can confirm that you can comfortably get an Uppababy into a black cab when needed. She passed though so hoping we will get our final visas issued next week so we can book flights for start of May. Eek. We sat next to John Waite who won S2 of British bake off on the tube on the way home which was exciting, although Emily snored all the way home.

frizz / gummi my BF saga continues post tt snip as I am still not healed, which I suspect is because Emily has learnt a shallow latch and I can't figure out how to 'retrain' her. I watched the 'improve latch by improving positioning' videos on you tube intro one here and they have made another step forward! they are v helpful. The best ones are no 2 on cradle hold and no 7 on troubleshooting (which also recommends shoving as much boob in as poss). Since trying the stuff on these the squeaking has stopped (and she squeaked A LOT and loudly) and she is taking on far less air so less trapped wind. The other thing that has helped is 'the flipple' here. Weird but effective.

Pidgy · 11/02/2014 23:38

felix, gummi we have the same fussing when feeding sometimes. I'm guessing she's over tired as she'll sometimes fall straight to sleep but then jerk awake. But I seem to blame everything on her being overtired so who knows!

I was on the mini pill but never remembered to take it and hence baby Lara was conceived. This is why I need something I don't have to think about. Might go for the copper coil or at least investigate further after experiences above with the implant although DH might like some of the side effects!

We've had no poos for 12 hours now which is odd as she usually does one after each feed. Hoping there's not an explosive one during the night!

Hope you all have restful and long sleeps tonight!! Fingers crossed.

BuntCadger · 12/02/2014 00:19

saw Dr today and she said Zacharys tummy should heal over time. talked poos as if he gets constipated or in pain I need to seek help because of his diastasis recti. I remember when my other 3 were babies they could go up to a week without pooing. Dr said that's it's fine ad breastfed babies can have reduced poo as they absorb so much of milk. as long as there are plenty of wet and baby eating and not in pain.

flyawayblue · 12/02/2014 04:40

Ugh dh is driving me mad. He wants Alice to have a routine as his nephews did at her age but also wants to talk to me through every night time feed, take for ever changing and taking to Alice and then get her out of her cot every time she gurgles. Just got grumpy with me as I wouldn't talk to him while feeding...

GummiBear74 · 12/02/2014 07:55

Wish we had a problem with reduced poo! Just tried to change her as quickly and quietly as possible, so she'll go back to sleep, but poosplosion out the back of her nappy on to her vest plus sick down the front of her babygro meant a full change of clothes. Doh!

MrsVDB · 12/02/2014 08:17

Oh dear gummi we had similar last night where 1 nappy change ended up using 4 nappies and a poo fountain... Nice

Naturegirl82 · 12/02/2014 08:19

Hope everyone had a good night. Olivia slept the entire night in her crib, only murmuring for nappy changes and feeding. Hopefully may now have the right combination of sleeping aids to make this a regular thing.

Anyone have any advice on nappy rash? I'm assuming this is what Olivia has, only a small amount right between her buttocks. Making sure she is changed as soon as nappy wet/dirty and using metanium, and trying to give nappy free time. Anything else I can do?

I had the implant for years (had three in the end). It agreed with me, stopped periods etc. But my dsis and best friend both had it but neither of them liked it so had it taken out, so it's a bit hit and miss whether people like it or not. I'm tempted by non-hormonal contraceptive methods this time due to my pcos but will need to see dr/endocrinologist to see what the best option would be.

fryingpantoface · 12/02/2014 08:32

We're using metanium too. It's really good, clears it up very quickly. He gets a little next to his willy. He constantly poos so i think it's from that.

Henry slept in his basket from 9.30-4.30, woke up and slept next to me until 7.30 where i had to spring into action as ds1 has to be in nursery, 20 mins away, at 8. He only wanted cuddles at 4.30 so we got back to sleep in 5 mins.

i bet tonight is different!

enormouse · 12/02/2014 09:13

Just popped on to say that I don't know who recommended white noise but I downloaded an app yesterday and it sent Cal to sleep after 15 minutes for 4 hours.

You ladies are geniuses! Thanks Smile

Sunshineseeker80 · 12/02/2014 09:48

Is there any particular white noise app you are using? I looked in App Store and there were loads to choose from...?thanks

GummiBear74 · 12/02/2014 10:13

Also, what kind of white noise? I downloaded an app, thinking it would be like untuned radio static or vacuum cleaner noise, but it's all rainfall, bird song and lullabies. Is this the kind of thing people are using?

I've tried the Brahms lullaby on her and it may work a little, but I think it works better on me, which is not the desired effect! Grin

Swannykazoo · 12/02/2014 10:51

Jealous of these long sleepers. Still getting woken up every two hours but only one of those was for a decent feed grr!
felix, gummi we also have evening squeaking/boob bashing. At first I thought it was reduced flow so tried breast compressions - out and out screaming ensued. Did find somewhere in Dr Google's textbook that if they're comfort sucking then the milk flow is a bit annoying for them as they're not hungry- made sense to me but who knows if its true?
Tried a dummy last night but was spat back in comedy fashion so hopefully nipples will stay healed!
Off to find a radiator key - it was 14 in our room this morning. I was bloody freezing in my blanket co -sleeping arrangement. (Hugh toasty in his sleeping bag)

Naturegirl82 · 12/02/2014 10:54

I'm using white noise baby app. Has loads of different sounds in it. That's for android so don't know if it's available on iPhone
