The one I've got is called 'white noise baby' and its a free app on kindle fire. It has quite a few different sounds - doppler, heartbeat, shell etc. Cal seems to like vacuum cleaner the most.

MrsVDB · 12/02/2014 11:06

The prince lionheart bear I have has white noise and also heartbeat, record your own sound etc just need to get around to putting batteries in it!

Felix90 · 12/02/2014 11:10

The one I'm using is on iPhone and its a pink and white logo and just called 'white noise.' It has rainfall, wind chimes (highly annoying), oscillating fan (her favourite), airplane noise, good old white noise and some other ones I've not looked at. It's a life saver!

toby post has just arrived! Thank you for the swaddle wrap, you are an angel.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/02/2014 11:55

Gah, long post vanished.

Re fussy babies, our HV said to try Infacol, and use before every feed (v important). Seems to help, as does holding her upright, holding between legs, facing outwards, and bounce.
We have horrible unsettled days, where she feeds, screams, yawns, screams, feeds, repeat. New hold and Infacol seem to have had a good effect, she's now asleep.

Re sex, not there yet because of stitches, but up for it Blush DH finds this hilarious. Hmm

angel congratulations! Hope you're recovering well.

MrsVDB · 12/02/2014 11:58

humpty I use infacol too and it seems to make such a difference. Yesterday he was doing full on man farts in his sleep!

Naturegirl82 · 12/02/2014 12:48

I've got a little chunk here. She has put on nearly 13lbs in 9days!

Felix90 · 12/02/2014 13:10

Nature I hope you mean 13oz Shock

We have infacol but she spits it back out Sad been using good old gripe water which does the trick. She's been so much better since we started using it. Also been recommended Colief which is expensive but supposed to be very good so going to see if I can pick some up to try.

Actually got dressed and put makeup on for once and it's peeing it down so we can't even go anywhere! I had hyped myself up to leave the house today and go for a walk Hmm

GummiBear74 · 12/02/2014 13:39

Shock felix, don't go outside! You'll be blown away or washed away!

I've just got hold of the android app on my kindle - that's much more what I had in mind. I'm ready for her now!

My interpretation of the squealing & boob bashing is that she isn't getting enough food, not that she's getting too much. It normally happens after she's been cluster feeding for a while and has switched sides a couple of times already. She'll suck happily for a minute or two and then kick off, so I thought maybe the boob just hasn't had enough time to make more milk and she's getting frustrated because the supply runs out too quickly. It also usually happens with the left boob, making me think that it doesn't work quite as well as the right! Anyway, I'm probably wrong - I mentioned this to the HV yesterday, and she didn't seem convinced by my theory!

MrsVDB · 12/02/2014 13:40

felix someone up the thread suggested squirting the infacol into their cheek. It works for us so maybe worth a try?

Well done on getting dressed! Since dh went back to work yesterday I haven't even showered yet so dressed and make up is impressive

MrsVDB · 12/02/2014 13:42

gummi I get alot more squeaking/ snorting on the right boob. I assume its the angle I'm holding him at?

Last night and this morning he's actually breastfeeding properly for the first time :) would be amazing if I could just bf and stop expressing

GummiBear74 · 12/02/2014 14:02

I have got dressed and put makeup on in honour of DH coming home after 2 nights away. Actually, with the weather like it is (looks like some kind of hurricane is going on Shock) I want to close the curtains and crawl back into bed until it goes away!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/02/2014 14:04

Will try gripe water too then. A gets infacol squirted into her cheek when she is on my lap. She hates it!
Well done on the makeup. We are off to registrars and I haven't brushed my hair yet!

Felix90 · 12/02/2014 14:18

Don't be too impressed with the makeup and getting dressed, it's the first time I've done it for 3 weeks with the exception of one day this weekend Blush I'm going to try and make an effort to get dressed every day now as I'm becoming a total recluse. I've left the house once in the past 3 weeks, and got in the car and back out at the in laws at the weekend. Im not keen on taking her anywhere in this weather though. We had a power cut last night and there's been more across leeds today and some of the roads are shutting because of the wind, it's crazy! I'm just glad we aren't flooded like those down south.

I've tried squirting in the cheek with the infacol but she looks at me horrified and still spits it back out. I've got a dentinox version which you can put in with their milk in a bottle but haven't tried it yet.

Naturegirl82 · 12/02/2014 14:33

Haha yep felix 13oz!! Was thinking nearly a lb!!

MrsVDB · 12/02/2014 15:23

That's good going nature :)

MrsVDB · 12/02/2014 15:48

Apparently you burn 20 calories for every ounce of breast milk you produce. This gives me the extra motivation to keep pumping. Losing the water retention is great also! 9 days in and I'm already a stone lighter than ore pregnancy although a lot wobblier

MerryPops · 12/02/2014 16:32

Well after sleeping well in his basket last night we appear to be in the midst of a growth spurt as Xander has not been off my boob all day! We have to attend Dh's grandads funeral on Friday morning so I have been stockpiling milk today in preparation, but all that's happened now is he seems to be starving. He is asleep at the moment so cramming in the calories to try and get the milk flowing but not sure chocolate counts

How long do these cluster feed episodes normally last guys?

Bluecarrot · 12/02/2014 17:18

Gummi - my dd does this too. Throws head back and whimpers, but tries to go back to boob. I find its often wind pains if she's been feeding all evening.

I don't know how you are all managing to stay in the house. I've been out since day 5 - coffee shops, school open nights ( for dd1), shopping trips, tots groups - anywhere will do! Can't wait to be driving again. Sophia will be 4 weeks on Friday and hoping dr will give me go ahead to drive. I've felt ready for the last 3 weeks ( I had CSection, so need to be checked) Seems she settles better if we have been out in the day. Or maybe she's picking up the more relaxed vibe from me!

MrsVDB · 12/02/2014 17:50

blue I'm itching to get out, the weathers just been so awful here and not being able to drive is a pain in the ass. I'm ready too so thinking of going to doctors to get signed off too

Felix90 · 12/02/2014 18:14

Eek what's the weather like for everyone at the moment? I know there's a few around Manchester way and there's a red weather alert! We have an amber warning here and the wind and rain are horrendous. Hoping the electricity doesn't go out again like it did last night Shock

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/02/2014 18:37

It was pretty vile here today, but better in the afternoon. So windy though!

I've been out most days, but not far, just to the park, cafe, sainsburys etc. Today we went to the registry office, then on to Greenwich to shop, which is the longest and furthest we've been (DH came with us for back up!) and first time on buses and DLR. It was fine! I was pretty nervous, but everyone was v sweet and helpful.
Had a nice chat with the lady in the sweet shop, who said that when she had her first baby, she felt like she'd been hit by a train! I so know what she means, going back to things I've done pre-baby feels weird. In a good way.

GummiBear74 · 12/02/2014 18:57

felix, I'm in South Manchester and the weather's absolutely shocking. DH has just got in, after sitting in a plane on the ground at the airport for an hour because it was too windy to use the steps safely. He's very lucky to have landed at all, lots of flights were diverted. Just glad he's back in one piece!

Just making sure we have candles handy and fuel for the stove in case of a power cut.

So jealous of those of you who are out and about all the time. I'm fine with popping her in the pram and going to the park or a local shop, but too chicken to take her out in the car on my own, let alone public transport. We'll get there eventually, I hope!

chocoholicalcoholic · 12/02/2014 19:24

Hello everyone, hope you are all ok and haven't been blown away brrrrrrr.

Anyone else still have aches and pains 4/5 weeks after birth? The last few days my ribs and back are throbbing. Have really low belly aches too. Maybe it's my posture... I feel like I did in the first few days after I'd had DD.

Ladies who are formula feeding - DD is now taking 5oz sometimes 6oz which seems keen at 4 and a bit weeks! Every 4/5 hours sometimes only 3 and a half hours in between. She seems more of a pig than her sisters. How are yours doing?

I'm another one who hasn't really left the house, well, except the school run which doesn't count. I just can't be arsed!
