Hi
This is a thread for people due in October with past miscarriage issues, so we don't scare the 'regular' October people and we don't annoy the RM thread with our pregnancy talk...

LAst time My booking appointment was supposed to be at 9w and a bit. When I was told I was miscarrying I called the midwives office and told them to cancel it all, and still on the day I got a call to say I was late.
bastards!

this time i don't have any dates yet... other than the 7+2 scan on the 18th

OP posts:
squizita · 07/02/2014 09:27

I got booked in at 8+3 (but I think this was convenient for them because I was going in for my 8 week check up with the recurrent miscarriage clinic anyway that day).

SweetPeaPods · 07/02/2014 09:47

Tiny that's dreadful.
I do worry if I've jumped the gun this time by arranging my mw appt. have a really horrible feeling and it won't go away.

JBrd · 07/02/2014 09:53

Sweetpea Hope you're feeling better today! I tried to have an early night as well last night and did got to be at 10.30pm - but then ended up reading until 12! Silly me Angry

Yes, booking in is usually between 8-10 weeks, to give them enough time to arrange the 12 -week scan. I'm wondering if there is any way that I could get an early scan before seeing the midwife, so that I won't have to fill out all the bloody forms again, only for it all then to go pear-shaped... But that would probably mean I'd have to go and see my GP again, and I don't want to take more time off work - I've been to the doctor and dentist so often in the last few weeks...

Squiz I know we don't do fish slaps on this thread (actually, why don't we?), but I'm throwing a fish in your direction. Enjoy not feeling sick!

allisgood1 · 07/02/2014 09:55

Can I join?

My DD is sept 9 though Wink

History: 1MMC (6-7 weeks), DD1, 1MMC (6 weeks), 1 incomplete mc (7 weeks). Have had a total of 3 miscarriages but 5 ERPC's Confused

Currently 9+3, hb seen at 8+3. Was feeling confident then I had a dream last night I went for a scan and it was gone Hmm so feeling very depressed today. Not helped by the fact that I haven't taken my progesterone for 2 days, aspirin is very hit and miss depending on how sick I'm feeling, and can't remember the last time I took my prenatal vitamins. Convinced I've ruined it all now Hmm

TinyTear · 07/02/2014 10:30

hello allisgood - September and October welcome!

Are they going to scan you agian, or wait until 12w?

I have been told that seeing a hb at 8w means a 98% chance of success

OP posts:
allisgood1 · 07/02/2014 10:41

My scans were private so thats up to me. I can't contemplate it now--too scared!! I forgot to add in my stats DD2 after the 2 mc's. Baby brain!!

TinyTear · 07/02/2014 10:50

With your history maybe your GP can refer you to another scan.

I have a scan at 7w and it was referred by the GP... if that one goes well i may ask for a 9 or 10w one (cheeky) as when I had my DD i was under the RMC so was scanned at 6w, 8w and 10w... got a bit addicted to scans... and then when I developed GD I was scanned a lot in the end as well....

SweetPeaPods · 07/02/2014 11:02

Hello Allisgood.
Tiny I think that's normally the case but with mc no 3 we had a hb but stopped growing at 9wk. But yes generally a hb is a very good sign.

TinyTear · 07/02/2014 11:09

Sad all of mine (even when only discovered at 10w) never developed more than 6w

OP posts:
tannyLoo · 07/02/2014 11:13

Me too Tiny... That's why next week feels so pressured. I'll be 6 weeks on Wednesday Sad

fedupofrainydays · 07/02/2014 11:20

Hello can I be added to the stats please?

Fedupofrainydays, 32, 1DS, 2 mc, EDD 14 oct.

I know I try not to symptom spot as also felt sick with both my mc. But feel pretty yuk today and sicky. Hard to ignore and not count as a good thing but also I know it doesn't mean anything at same time.

Am really busy at the mo so keeping my occupied but time is still so slow. Not even 5 weeks yet. EPU phoned to rearrange my scan to 18th so I have a week and a half to get through til then. Sounds short but feels everlasting.

squizita · 07/02/2014 11:44

Tanny and Tiny me too. Hoping now I've got this far it's 'broken the curse' but who knows..?

Allis if you look back on the thread over on the pregnancy forum I kept having terrible miscarriage nightmares, maybe it's the hormones. But after them, I had a good scan ... they're just nightmares! Have you tried half a dissolved aspirin in a little warm water? My doc suggested it if I was feeling too queasey for tablets.

Jbird Thanks for the fishslap. Yeah I need it. Especially as for the last fortnight it's been 'one day sick, the next ok'.

TinyTear · 07/02/2014 12:01

ahhrgh ahhrgh ahhrgh.,..

a friend of mine just announced her pregnancy on FB with a photo of her little boy saying 'on big brother training' which is really cute... BUT...

she is due a few days AFTER me!! meaning she isn't even 6w yet!

Naive... naive...
She is lovely but just feels like tempting fate - i told a good friend, but wouldn't announce it to the world like this! at 5w!!

i so hope things will go well for them...

Hello. A little advice please. My mmc discovered at 12 weeks but it was blighted ovum so nothing much visible on scan. When I mc the week later though there was still a lot of blood.

Is this was to happen earlier is there still a lot of blood. Going away for the weekend and driving myself crazy with silly thoughts but had a little blood when wiping this am.

I must remember TIAP.

TinyTear · 07/02/2014 13:02

MY only natural mc (others were ERPC) was at 8w and there was A LOT of blood as well, I was soaking through pads really quickly... (and I was staying at the MIL so had to pass it off as a bad period)

Would you be able to get a scan this afternoon to see how things are going?

OP posts:
tannyLoo · 07/02/2014 13:18

I've experienced both heavy and light bleeds with MCs, but usually lighter the earlier on it is.

Really hope it's all ok and just a bit of spotting. As tiny says, scan would be the way to know for sure, but you probably wouldn't want to know if you're going away.

Good luck!

McRedHead · 07/02/2014 15:58

Thanks for replies. Still a bit of pinky brown this afternoon. I was at work and now heading down south until Tuesday. I'm hoping it just stops and I don't need to do any more about it. Was looking forward to this long weekend break, now just a little apprehensive.

I booked my doc appt for Friday next week. If I wanted reassurance would I call them first or EPAU at the hospital, even though I'm not on their books yet?

tannyLoo · 07/02/2014 16:07

Personally, I'd go straight to EPU, even just over the phone. They have been really supportive and full of useful advice. Always seems to happen at the weekend, doesn't it?

McRedHead · 07/02/2014 16:26

Thanks. Hopefully won't need to call. So many people on here say they've had some kind of bleeding and go on with a successful pg...

Wishing everyone a happy weekend Cake

mum2kiss · 07/02/2014 16:27

Ive just been to the loo and noticed a hint of pink when I wiped :(

I have a scan booked for.monday because I had some.pain last weekend. I was going to cancel.it as ive had no more pain but now I think I should go....

JBrd · 07/02/2014 16:39

Tiny Wow, your friend must be very confindent. Or very naïve. Or just have no idea at all.
I always wonder what to do in these cases. I mean, would you say to your friend 'Actually, you might want to be careful about who you tell this early, because at this stage, everything is possible...'? And risk destroying their happiness and make them all anxious? But seriously, who doesn't know that you don't tell anyone until at least 12 weeks?!

Welcome allis Can you try carrying the aspirin and vitamins around with you, and as soon as you have a time where you don't feel sick, just take them? Just a thought... Or soluble aspirin, as someone suggested. I find the vitamins much easier to take on a full stomach.

red I don't think that there is a rule as to how much blood there is in early vs late mcs...
Unless you are gushing blood, I don't think that the EPU can/will want to do very much at this stage. Most likely, they will tell you that a lot of people have bleeding and/or spotting during their pregnancies, esp in the early stages. So you might as well go on your weekend away - it might do you good!
I know it's so hard, but try to relax! Whatever happens, it's out of your hands... (this is meant to sound encouraging, not sure I am getting the tone right here). Hopefully, it'll all stop again!

Can anyone suggest an activity for the weekend that might take my mind off being pg? So far, all I have planned is gardening, but that is very dependent on the weather. I need distraction, I feel I might go stir crazy otherwise!

McRedHead · 07/02/2014 16:51

Jbrd, you're right of course. Thanks.

As for the weekend are you on your own or could you meet up with friends? Time passes easier with others. Or clear out the loft... (That's on my to do list anyway!) Smile

McRedHead · 07/02/2014 16:52

mum2kiss I would holdfire just now.

allisgood1 · 07/02/2014 19:57

Mum2kiss and red. Hope your spotting settles into nothing. I've had it go both ways and only time will tell (unfortunately). In my case even the scan was an incorrect indication (I mc'd 2 days after a scan with heavy bleeding and hb). With DD2 it settled quickly and didn't come back.
