Hi
This is a thread for people due in October with past miscarriage issues, so we don't scare the 'regular' October people and we don't annoy the RM thread with our pregnancy talk...

Another one not dtd here. Though have not explicitly discussed this with dh. Have cervical damage, apparently left side of cervix is absent due to trauma on delivery of dd. getting stitch soon if all well. In the meantime and for the rest of the pregnancy will err on the side of caution and wait.

The migraines sound terrible tum and nearly. Hope u can find a way to cope with them. Tums's tips look very helpful.

JBrd · 10/03/2014 11:41

tum and nearly That sounds awful. I used to have migraines (although not this bad) when I was younger. When they started getting more frequent and worse, I tried acupuncture - it worked brilliantly. They have never come back since.
Obviously, doing any sort of treatment when pg is different, but a good acupuncturist should know the dos and don'ts.
Hope they ease off soon!

JBrd · 10/03/2014 11:43

Has anyone had a look at the 'normal' October antenatal thread?! It's massive, there are soooo many people on their list! Think I will stay here, this is much over overseeable (making up words now Grin)

SweetPeaPods · 10/03/2014 11:48

Definitely JBird. It moves too fast for me too.
Some weird reason some of my last post disappeared! Sorry to hear about the migraines. My mum had them bad in pg so she thought I might but thankfully touch wood none yet.

I've not bothered woth the 'normal' one as I heard bad things about the September one!! Either be positive and share happy news or get lost. So decided probably not the best place for paranoid me!

Today's paranoia - I've only put on two pounds this pregnancy. I know people worry about putting weight on but to me weight gain is a good sign as with my son it was a stone in the first trimester and my mmc at 12 weeks i had only put on 4 lbs. I know I'm only 9 weeks but still feeling worried about it.

I get the odd headache but no migraines but they do sound really horrid... Hope they get better as the pregnancy progresses. My NCT friend had them with her second pregnancy and they definately got better the more pregnant she got.

fedupofrainydays · 10/03/2014 13:29

Ps. After last weeks vomiting of my staple ham and cheese toastie I now can't stomach it... So today's lunch was a whole garlic baguette. Random but everything else made me feel sick!!

Hello All

Newbie here - previous MC 4 years ago and I had a chemical back in August 2013. I'm 41.

Today I'm 8w5d and, frankly, bricking it on a fairly constant basis... I didn't have many symptoms to start with - slightly sore and swollen boobs (I'm only an A cup at the best of times), fatigue, very slightly nausea that literally lasted about 2 days, peeing a lot.

Last week everything seemed to disappear really: I feel fine apart from feeling very bloated (I'm sure I've put on a stack of weight as I'm hungry all the time & have lost my willpower), ever so slightly tired sometimes, and my boobs are only very slightly sore. If I poke them quite hard!

I think I'm going to book in for a private US on Friday - OH isn't particularly keen as he worries that it is too early or too risky and the thought of not seeing a heartbeat or to be told that there has been no growth TERRIFIES me...

fedupofrainydays · 10/03/2014 13:48

I didn't have any til almost 7 weeks though bugs. Plus I felt sick with my mmc so it's not necc a good sign for me. Doctor said (although don't know how true) that tiredness is a more reliable symptom than nausea. But then I know people with fine pregnancies and healthy babies who couldn't really tell they were pregnant except for a growing bump!

fedupofrainydays · 10/03/2014 13:49

And like you... Time is going so very slowly... Painfully slow.

fedupofrainydays · 10/03/2014 13:54

Hi catty welcome. We are all a bit crazy here and paranoid about everything.
We all have symptoms that come and go and can tell each other about them, but then are no good at listening to ourselves when they disappear. I'm the worst at it.

For me. Yes the scans (I've had two) were terrifying I also didn't want to get to 12 weeks and be scanned then to find nothing there but a huge sac (happened to me last feb) so for me early scans in the next pregnancy (had another mc in nov) were always g

fedupofrainydays · 10/03/2014 13:56

Going to happen. I shake and cry throughout each scan I have but for me it gives me two things a) heads up if things aren't right rather than ignorance for weeks b) temporary reassurance that all is progressing as it should be.

CattyW72 · 10/03/2014 14:05

Thanks rainy... I think that is it exactly - I really don't want to be at the 12w scan and find out that I'd lost the baby a while ago.

Trying to get OH to understand that I'm thinking about this literally every minute of every day.. I think I'm getting there! Hmm

Welcome cat We are all equally crazy here Grin But the good thing is, no one has a problem with it because of what we all have been through before.
Scans are not risky - tell your DH that once you have reached 8 weeks, scans are very likely to be conclusive either way. At that stage, a healthy pregnancy is very recognisable. I'm always Hmm when people say they are having scans at 6 weeks - too early, at that stage you won't know if what you are seeing is 'the real deal', usually ending up with more anxiety and stress.

I had a scan at 8 weeks, through the NHS, arranged by my lovely midwife - is that something you might want to ask about? If you have had mcs before, they are often quite happy to give a reassurance scan. I'm also having another scan tomorrow at 10 weeks, but that's private (although the midwife did try to get me another NHS scan, but they wouldn't do it).

fedup Fancy a symptom-swap Wink? I wish I had only put on 2 pounds! I have put on 2kg in the last week alone Confused. I need the carbs/fat to keep the sickness at bay, and I'm also craving salty foods. Not a good combination! Clothes are definitely starting to sit tighter...Sigh. I had this when pg with DS and ended up putting on over 3 stone Shock

picklebum2011 · 10/03/2014 17:43

Hi phew busy few days. Blue sorry scan was inconclusive definitely push for another one.
How are the migraines nearly?
Jbrd I need to exercise gives me at least half an hour where I might not think about this pregnancy every second.
Having a really bad day today. Been feeling fine until last night when I started shivering and feeling like I had a flu. Runny nose, uncontrollable sneezing. I woke up this morning and gradually got worse again!! I'm so scared, I googled it and it said a lack of estrogen can cause shivering and also the pregnancy to miscarry. I just feel terrible. I'm so scared as in all my mmc I have started fine then started feeling ill like last time I was uncontrollably sick for a day, then two days later baby had gone. I'm only just six weeks, should I have a scan sat to see what is going on? Would be almost seven? Was trying to wait but I too can't face thinking I'm pregnant only for that kick in teeth moment at twelve weeks. I also can't help thinking that maybe I have nk cells and my body is making me feel I'll and will reject baby. I am sobbing now just feel so helpless and useless. The worst thing is we have no control over any of this, I find that so hard.
Sorry for bringing mood down.

squizita · 10/03/2014 18:40

Pickle cold and flu like symptoms are a common pregnancy symptom 'pregnancy sniffles' - you are also much more likely to catch them! It's very common (she says, blowing her nose) - far more likely a reason than a rare hormonal issue. Steer clear of Dr Google and ring your local midwife or GP. :) Very likely they'll say you have a cold!

Hello, this looks like a good place for me. My first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage (7 weeks but discovered at 12 week scan) last August. Now 6+3 and worried that I'm not having many symptoms but all being well I'm due October 30th.

Lovely to meet you all. Hope all goes well for us all.

wigwam33 · 10/03/2014 21:37

Welcome Catty and Wandering. Good to see some newbies. You can only really know what it's like to be pg after mc (or mmc) if you've been there, and we all have.

Pickle please don't apologise! That's what this thread is for after all. It's just horrible the not knowing isn't it?

I've got a major event with work next week where I have lots of responsibility and I need to be totally on form for it. However, I have lost most symptoms of pg a few days ago -no nausea, tiredness reduced, which I'm thinking isn't a good thing. (I'm 9+5 so too early to be losing symptoms to my mind). Going to wait until after my work thing though and then go for a scan at EPU the following week. Aargh.... this feels like torture the waiting.

Millysdream · 10/03/2014 22:24

Another day down ladies .......... 1 step closer to the next scan for us all.

Welcome caty and wandering. Congrats on being pregnant. Fx it will be uneventful this time.

wigwam I also find work can be really tricky at times. It's impossible to have the usual level of energy, so quite challenging when big events come up. On the one hand it can be a distraction, but on the other hand it can be a little overwhelming. Hope the work event goes ok and you have a good scan.

Another week down. I really don't like counting down time, but I keep feeling there is a mountain ahead, so counting each step is progress! Already feeling a bit anxious about trimester 2 - have never had a problem in trimester 1, just trimester 2; but really hoping for an uneventful second trimester this time... Anyway, still just wk 10 so a few weeks to go yet.

Goodnight ladies, sleep well!

TaytoCrisp · 10/03/2014 23:02

Ps: pickle. Sorry to hear you are feeling so distressed. I agree with squiz and bugger that it is most likely a bad cold or flu. Hope u manage to get a good rest and feel a bit stronger in the morn. Big hug!
