Hi
This is a thread for people due in October with past miscarriage issues, so we don't scare the 'regular' October people and we don't annoy the RM thread with our pregnancy talk...

Thanks for comments. Stuffy nose and sore throat this morning so hopefully just a bad cold. Remembered last night that on Thursday afternoon I was sat next to a woman on a course who kept blowing her nose and asking for air con to be switched off as she freezing, it was boiling in room!!!
I'm still getting that de ja vous feeling though, I always seem to hit six weeks become really ill somehow and then game over. Hopefully I'm wrong
Welcome to newbies and congratulations has anyone got a scan today?

squizita · 11/03/2014 07:51

Does anyone know when we should book ante natal/NCT/Lazy daisy courses? It seems rather early (I'm 13+4) but have heard they can run out so to book quickly. I'm as usual, a bit superstitious about doing it early.

JBrd · 11/03/2014 08:33

pickle Hope you're feeling better soon, it does sound like a bad cold, or even flu! Look after yourself.

squiz If you are thinking of doing NCT antenatal course (highly recommended), they have a sort of calculator on their website, where you enter your due date and where you are, and then it spits out which course would be suitable and when. But you are a little bit ahead of your time, hun Wink

Going to the FMC this afternoon for my 10-week scan and Harmony test. I feel strangely calm, almost numb. Please let it be good news!

Jbird Cool - will check that. Just didn't want to get to 20 weeks and find everywhere was booked up.
As I'm "high risk" and will have to have a hospital birth etc', I'm worried (from the grapevine) that NCT varies wildly in their group politics/woo-ness. I've heard some groups are fine and talk about all types of birth, whereas others brush aside the possibility that anyone actually needs consultant care and make you feel you're letting the sisterhood down and terrify you.
Does anyone know if there's a way of knowing what branches are like in advance?

squizita · 11/03/2014 09:04

Bugs I went through that phase too. All was well at my clinic scan though. I'm having similar wobbles now because my sickness has faded (err week 13-14 when the MW told me it probably would). Grin

JBrd · 11/03/2014 09:13

squiz From my experience, it really depends on who is teaching the class. But -again, from my experience and from what I have heard from others- they are very open to anything and any type of birth. We certainly discussed everything and every option in my class, I vividly remember us going through all the different options of pain relief, including every kind of drug.
In the end, you do these courses to meet people in the same situation like you, and this has been worth every penny we paid. We are still really good friends with our NCT group, all of us have been supporting each other through of lot of sh** that happened at various stages. We go on holiday together every year. For this alone it's worth doing it.

Bugs Do get disheartened - easier said than done, I know! But symptoms change all the time! I was sick as a dog on Saturday, then on Sunday I could've run a marathon (well, figuratively). My only constant symptom is the tiredness, come 9pm, I'm dead to the world. But everyone is different! I know so many people that weren't sick at all in any of their pregnancies.

I made the mistake and watched OBEM last night... Had me sobbing away, bringing it all up again what I have lost and how much I want another baby, and that I could have had another one by now 3 times over. EDD of my last mc is fast approaching, can you tell...

JBrd · 11/03/2014 09:15

Don't get disheartened! Really need to proofread better...

I watched it too, I found it moving and terrifying. The woman that had to go to theatre for forceps and the baby wasn't making much noise reminded me of what happened with ds except we didn't have time for theatre or epidural and he didn't come round and was rushed to scbu. Dh watched it with me and I commented on the colour of the babies just as they popped out. He said ds was a purply blue as well and I never knew that. He is right as rain now thank goodness but if I am ever lucky enough to do it again I'm determined it will be different.
squiz I had a series of parentcraft workshops at the hospital around 30 weeks. I found them useful. I found the breastfeeding ones booked up super quick.

nearlyreadytopop · 11/03/2014 09:54

jbrd sending positive thoughts for your scan and test this afternoon. The Harmony test really is amazing.

SwimmingMom · 11/03/2014 11:04

Jbrd - hope you have a calm & wonderful scan & Harmony test. Am going later this week.

Currently at 9+6 & not yet ready to believe am pregnant, not until I cross the 13th week this time.

TaytoCrisp · 11/03/2014 13:16

Just had a very good scan. Got a really clear image and photo. Feeling pleased for now. And dated at 11 weeks - just 1 day ahead of my dAte.

squiz re nct groups, I think the group dynamic will depend even more on the other people as opposed to the facilitator alone. And meeting other first time parents will be a great benefit later. Hopefully they will be a sensible group!
And I would encourage booking eArlier rather than later so you can get in with a group that is nearby - as opposed to finding u need to track across town for a course with parents from a different area as your local one is full.

TaytoCrisp · 11/03/2014 13:17

Have a good scan too jbrd!

CattyW72 · 11/03/2014 13:43

Thanks to everyone for their "welcomes" Smile

Have booked a Babybond early scan for Friday lunchtime (when in theory I'll be 9w2d) so hopefully will update with good news after that!

Good luck to everyone else with scans coming up too.

Tumtimes1 · 11/03/2014 13:49

Great news tayto Smile

Millysdream · 11/03/2014 17:03

tayto great news!!!! My hubby has booked me a private scan for Thursday as I can't wait till next Thursday am just such a wreck! So only 1 more day at work to go. Having to have time off but just going to say it's an appointment.
Actually though I had some flutters in my belly today but think I am imagining it ;) This pregnancy is sending me crazy x

squizita · 11/03/2014 19:00

Thanks Jbird, Tayto and nearly! Will send an enquiry form, just to register interest. There is an 'essentials' course about a mile from me, sounds good.

Jbird hope your scan went well.

Tayto glad your scan went well :)

Millys FX for Thurs!

I have a bit of a dilemma. Was going to tell people (i.e. not F&F) when I hit 14 weeks but today I found out a friend with fertility issues just had another month where her treatment didn't work and is pretty cut up about it. I'm sure we've all been down in those depths, it would be pretty insensitive of me to announce it.
Should I warn her first?
Just because if I try to cover it up then get 'revealed' (and she's very alert to the signs') it could also upset her that I wasn't open.
:(
Hmmm. Just don't want to upset her.

nearlyreadytopop · 11/03/2014 19:05

squiz you sound like a lovely friendSmile . Maybe you could give her a heads up so she can prepare herself? I'm sure if she knows everything you have been through that she will be happy for you.

My gp has signed me off for three weeks because of migraineSad . I feel like a drama queen. And anytime I've been off sick in the past has been for mc reasons so I have this association with it in my head.

picklebum2011 · 11/03/2014 19:45

Squiz I would speak to her face to face first. I'm sure she will be really happy for you. You've been so good keeping it a secret this long. How have you managed it? I need tips, I keep blurting it out, oops.
Jbrd how was scan?
Tayto fantastic news. Good luck for everyone having scans this week. I'm having a viability scan sat.

picklebum2011 · 11/03/2014 19:52

Nearly sorry you are having such bad migraines they are really awful. Good that you can have some rest. Know what you mean about thinking things link to previous pregnancies that haven't gone well but they are not the same, we just need to me telling ourselves that. Hope they ease with some rest.

Millysdream · 11/03/2014 20:04

squiz I have been in a very similar situation. We haven't made things public knowledge yet but we have told these friends as we didn't want them to guess. Plus they kept texting asking how our tests were going etc and being really concerned when we kept saying that they hadn't found any reasons for miscarriages (when they stopped testing us because I was pregnant). They took it well knowing what we had been through but it was obviously hard for them. We have seen them several times since we told them but we don't talk babies at all.

It is so difficult when others around you are trying for a baby and struggling. I just want all my lovely friends to be blessed with a baby. Including you lot xxxx

Millysdream · 11/03/2014 20:07

Ps- my roots need doing but I am too scared to dye my hair. I don't want to take any risks at all. Does anyone know what I can/can't use x
