Hi
This is a thread for people due in October with past miscarriage issues, so we don't scare the 'regular' October people and we don't annoy the RM thread with our pregnancy talk...

Blueberry so sorry to hear of your anxiety. It's really horrid waiting.
I feel for you and am rooting for a positive outcome.

Millys scans don't hurt babies. There is a correlation because (logically) women who have extra scans have pain, blood, history of MC, older, reduced movement... so it isn't causing it, it's more a behaviour that runs alongside risky pregnancies. If there were no scans they'd still be riskier. So says Lesley Regan and what she says tends to go! :)

squizita · 08/03/2014 17:39

...also agree with Buggs re dopplers. Could be scary - also heard they can create issues when one can hear a HB and therefore ignore other symptoms later in pg.

fedupofrainydays · 08/03/2014 18:00

Oh blue sorry to hear that scan was inconclusive. If it was me I would pay for a private scan in a week. There's no way I could wait til 12 weeks. Can you do that given NHS aren't forthcoming about scanning you again?

Millysdream · 08/03/2014 21:17

Hubby has agreed with an 18w scan. He says he can see how anxious it is making me. I was so annoyed with the consultant that said that about scans. We all know it is because the nhs only care about money. Well I have been working since I was 16 so I think I have paid my fair share into the system over the years! Rant over.
Hope you ladies have all had a nice night. Xx

TaytoCrisp · 08/03/2014 21:18

blue such an awful situation u r in. I hope everything goes ok for u... Thinking of u.

milly it must be so hard imagining that u will have this baby after the other losses. And especially as u have not had a little one yet. Though the fact that u r further on than ever b4 is a real positive indicator this time; And ffeeling less symptoms is hopefully what we will experience as the second trimester approaches. It might also be good to tell a couple omore people who are close to u, as u could really do with people around u who u can trust and confide in. I know it's very hard though. But each day u are further ahead then ever before, and closer to having ur first little one!

TaytoCrisp · 08/03/2014 21:21

squiz thanks for that sensible reassurance! I had a frisson of worry about excessive scanning for a second. What u say makes total sense. And if prof. Regan takes that view - that settles it!

Millysdream · 08/03/2014 21:22

Thanks tayto for your kind words. I might tell more people after the next scan. I will be 16 weeks then so I might be showing by then as well. We thought we would tell everyone then but after my wobble today I know I am not ready for everyone to know yet.

BlueberryPoppy123 · 08/03/2014 21:39

fedup if they won't scan me I will definitely either pay for another or go back lying saying I've had a bleed... Just looking through google worst thing to do and basically my chances aRe 50/50 a lot of people it seems have had the same situation as me

SweetPeaPods · 09/03/2014 17:57

Is anyone doing anything differently with this pg? Last pg with ds, so my first full term pg, I cut out caffeine completely, took extra folic acid (from gp) and no dtd for the first trimester.
Not sure whether any made any difference or not. This pg feels different already though.

nearlyreadytopop · 09/03/2014 18:29

sweet pea I have pcos so this pregnancy I took metformin until 12 weeks. The hospital doctor also said no lifting, no exercise, no dtd, no exertion of any kind. I don't really know how that will help but I have been feeling so rubbish I was happy to rest. I have also felt really sick so tea and coffee are a no. I have however been consuming caffeine via chocolateGrin .

Millysdream · 09/03/2014 19:57

sweetpea I have not been wearing fake tan and am now taking aspirin and not having any sex (just not risking it). Considering I was pregnant 4 times last year I think hubby actually needs a rest ;)

Everything else is the same x

fedupofrainydays · 09/03/2014 21:10

Not really sweetpea except too scared to exercise or have sex (had a few orgasms in my sleep and woken up with painful cramps afterwards so no way I want to risk more of those by having sex). Gone off same stuff as with first preg - alcohol, coffee, red meat and fruit so guesses are I'm expecting a boy again!

Right past my bed time at the mo - night!

nearlyreadytopop · 10/03/2014 06:55

I had another migraine last night, started of with a zig zaggy area in the vision of one eye and then proceeded to full blown 'head in a vice'Sad I think there is someone else here who suffers from these? Just wondering if there are any preg safe treatments? Luckily I was at home but I dread getting on a work or when I'm out and about.

squizita · 10/03/2014 08:23

Sweetpea sticking a fricken burning needle in my leg daily Grin. I've gone the other way: the 'force myself sane' route of deliberately only cutting out proven risks. Things I am forcing myself to do:
-I take 7 seas pregnacare and vit B, no herbal woo
-I force myself to go to central London to restaurants/bars and have a soft drink and allowed foods (weird superstition: went a few days before 2 prior losses, unrelated but scares me)
-Have bought some temporary hair dye (just because the smell of permanent revolts me now)
-Have bought some Mavala low-chemical nail polishes (Debenhams online sale).
Prof Regan's crew will make me rational one of these days!!

I don't DTD because I bleed after anyway and can do without the trips to the A&E (which they will recommend if I spot).

I find it uncomfortable to lift heavy things at the mo anyway, as my muscles and stretching and twinging.

My main fear at the moment is poo and wind. Hard poo = worry (sometimes it causes bloody mucus). Prunes = gas = worried the gas will upset my uterus as it bubbles!!

Tumtimes1 · 10/03/2014 08:51

Hi nearly its me who has the migraine with aura (zig zag lines/numb hand/speech issues and general hurt head). I am actually signed off currently with these as they were becoming very frequent. I am on baby aspirin once a day for these (they do help with the symptoms). I have to take the aspirin for the whole pregnancy. I also take x2 paracetamal the very SECOND i get the zig zag lines. So always carry these with me at all times. then get straight into bed. I use Forehead mint roll on thing. Seeems to help a little with the pain. I also have stemitil anti sickness if I start to feel like i am going to puke from the migraine.

I haven't had a migraine now for 8 days which is a world record for me so far. Due one any day, oh joy!
The next day after a migraine I feel like i have a bruised head, like it would hurt if I sneezed or coughed. Very very unpleasant. x

hope you feel better!

On the DTD subject, personally we do not during pregnancy. Just don't wanna risk a bleed or any uterus contracting. Will be going without for the whole pregnancy. My husband doesn't mind at all as he has seen how much we have regretted in other pregnancies when I have had a bleed or had pain. x

Tumtimes1 · 10/03/2014 08:53

Sorry squiz quick question, how long are you on the clexane for, is it the whole pregnancy?

allisgood1 · 10/03/2014 08:56

Tum, is there any way you can get in with a chiropractor? They helped me immensely with my migraines. One a week or more is not good! I currently see a sports Physio who massages out the area that causes my migraines. Once he does that I can go up to a month migraine free (and I used to be like you!).

Hmm, different this time - well, the progesterone in terms of medications. And I have actually switched to drinking decaff coffee (when I can stomach it), and to my surprise, it isn't actually so bad. I allow myself one cup of 'real' coffee at the weekend (also new), but again, more often than not I don't fancy it anyway.
I still exercise (or try to), as I need an outlet for all the tension and anxiety.
No dtd either, I still have this brown spotting that worries me, and I'm also totally shattered in the evenings. Will leave that until way again into the 2nd trimester (poor DH).

DH, for the first time in this pregnancy, actually made a forward-looking comment - he mused that if this one is a girl, we will have nothing at all and have to reach out to our friends for clothes. To which he received a gentle bollocking from me about how we have literally a whole loft full of millions of baby clothes, many of which are gender-neutral anyway. Plus, I hate pink! So that is really the least of my worries.
What worries me is another comment that he made later about not looking forward to the 'what if' talk that we will have very soon, regarding test results for anomalies... He said it's almost a reason for not having any tests Confused

nearlyreadytopop · 10/03/2014 09:07

tums yes! my head feels so bruised today, any quick eye/head movements hurt a lot. is it normal for a time delay between the zig zag eyes and the headache starting? I think last night it was about an hour. I think I will have a chat with the gp.

Tumtimes1 · 10/03/2014 09:33

Yes so the aura (the zig zag) comes first and lasts up to an hour, take it as a warning. Get those paracetamol in then. Then AFTER wards the pain comes. Its text book migraine with aura symptoms. For sure head to the doc and ask about aspirin 75mg and what they think. My neurologist prescribed it for me and my doctor is fine with it. Does make a difference to the intensity of the migraine and can even prevent them. See what your GP says though. Let me know how you get on.

I go to see an acupuncturist but I may look into your chiropractor idea allsgood and see what they may be able to do x

squizita · 10/03/2014 10:37

Tum until 32-24 weeks, depending on what the consultant decides. Only come off when baby is 100% viable if born the next day if you catch my drift (and have been warned 'most ladies are a little early- 35 week or so).

SweetPeaPods · 10/03/2014 11:06

Good to hear it's not just me not dtd.
Morning sickness has well and truly kicked in here Hmm which although horrible it gives me some reassurance.
