I think so Sinks, but as my legs are less hairy but armpits just as bad as before I'm not sure where that puts me!

I'm so unbelievably tired, I'm contemplating going to bed soon. I'd go now, but I've got a batch of brownies in the oven for my maternity leave tea party tomorrow.

CatsCantFlyFast · 29/01/2014 22:43

Less hairy legs here too (and confirmed team pink). No idea about bikini line (and in denial about anything that may be happening below bump) and almost past caring about my armpits.

Frank I have had the early labour panic for a while now (resulting in a massive and expensive online panic shop today). Not helped by realising baby is big at the scan (5lb last week) and the sonagrapher commenting that bigger babies often come earlier as they are fully cooked....

7 weeks and counting

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 30/01/2014 07:43

I think more hair particularly on the chin and other unsightly places is a boy, ie testosterone sign. I've never been hairier. And I cannot touch the floor, but that is less bump and more tight hamstrings. I am seeing a load of people I do some work for this afternoon, with my now unmistakable minibump. I guess I might have to tell them I am diffed...

MyNameIsWinkly · 30/01/2014 11:23

Good luck driz!

The old wives tales, plus the placenta apparently being over to the right, all seem to suggest that I have a boy on board. Less than 2 weeks until we (hopefully) find out. I have gone back to Fretting that there will be something wrong with it though.

merk eek! But they aren't always right with the weight estimates, i'm sure I know someone who fairly recently was told they were effectively birthing Andre the Giant, but it came out normal sized and at a normal time.

FriendofDorothy · 30/01/2014 11:25

I was told The Little Mister would be 9-10lbs. He arrived as a perfect 7lbs 6.5oz.

SinkyMalinks · 30/01/2014 11:29

merk I also apparently have a giant baby on board. But I also know plenty of people who have been told that only to go on to have perfectly average (or even small) babies.

Will be bloody delighted if he comes early though!

CatsCantFlyFast · 30/01/2014 11:33

I always thought the estimates were notoriously inaccurate based on the tape measure but more accurate from a scan? However would not be surprised if baby is big as VVTM was over 10lb Shock

SinkyMalinks · 30/01/2014 15:29

I think both are flawed - Id imagine the scan is better than a tape measure, but the people I was talking about were all scanned as having a big baby.

Having said that, just back from midwife, after all the stress of measuring big, I'm now only a week out - which makes me 1cm smaller than 3 weeks ago Hmm Niace midwife was at pains to say it's so inaccurate and not to worry. Certainly I don't feel a cm smaller!

OP posts:
ALittleFaith · 30/01/2014 15:45

I measured 2cm smaller with Faithlet. Scan at 36 weeks estimated weight to be 50th centile (so bang on average). Tiny baybee popped out! I'd take it with a pinch of salt. dor and I both had to get smaller clothes for our little ones after believing our scan predictions! :)

I was less hairy on legs during diffment but the head hair was lush.

CatsCantFlyFast · 30/01/2014 16:34

Confused at shrinking a cm
I have to book in again with my new midwives next week. Seems a complete waste of their and my time, considering all my results /details are in my notes from the first time around

GingerScouse · 30/01/2014 17:02

Advice please, PESH. My scan is on Weds 12th at 2:20pm. I work an hour's drive away from my home town (at rush hour, or 40 mins in normal traffic). I have to get back to the town I live in, pick CGH up and then drive to the hospital (about a 20 min drive plus parking time). I do not like to be rushed to get places (particularly when dying for a wee Grin), and like to arrive 5-10 minutes before my appointment time. I then have to do the reverse to get back to work.

In order to get there in time, AIBU to leave work at 12:30? And given that the appointment could take up to 45 mins, AIBU to not go back that afternoon?

maamalady · 30/01/2014 17:59

YANBU at all! I'd leave work at noon, and definitely not go back in :)

Just home from scan - everything fine, though I had to jiggle around and got laid upside down on the bed a few times as baby was lying face down and refusing to move :) Oh, and we correctly guessed predicted we are having a girl :)

SinkyMalinks · 30/01/2014 18:57

Wrote a reply, but phone ate it. Doh.

ginge, don't be daft. Leave in good time- you'll be trying to get parked at peak visiting time. And as for going back to work, I worked out that a quick scan, (and I had to see a midwife after my 12 week scan - routine here) plus dropping off CGH then getting o work would take you til almost 4pm... Bugger that!

Draf, congrats on another pink beshlet! The 20 week scan is the best - definately a baby, but small enough to still get a good look!

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 30/01/2014 20:27

Hurrah draf for a good looking baby girl :)

And Not Unreasonable at all ginge. I've been unable to work before or after all my scans, so going in for the morning is already impressive in my view!

I told the rest of the people I work for/with, they were lovely and pleased for me, now I am knackered, meetings really tire me out now, or perhaps that's been the case for much longer than the diffment.

FriendofDorothy · 30/01/2014 21:41

I didn't have the tape measurements but had additional dating/size scans, mainly because I Am Fat. They scans still quesstimated The Little Mister at 2lbs heavier than he was.

FrankelInFoal · 30/01/2014 21:42

I've been trying to post here all evening but there are weird gremlins in the system that mean I can only post on some threads. Hopefully it's fixed now.

Hurrah for another Team Pink Draf Grin

And yes, at the very least take the whole afternoon off Ginge

MyNameIsWinkly · 30/01/2014 21:53

Another one whose posts have been rejected by this fred today here!

draf yay! for your little healthy little girl EvilGiraffeCub! How lovely.

ginge there would be no chance of getting me back to work. Given that the clinic willl almost certainly overrun, and you'll have to drop CGH home, it'll almost be hometime by the time you get back anyway. My 12 week scan was in the morning and I did not want to go into work, I wanted to sit and coo at my scan pics.

driz glad it went well today.

If anyone is looking for swimwear, I can highly recommend the Mamas and Papas tankini. I went for a swim today and it did a simply miraculous job of holding my giant boobs in place. Less impressive was my swimming - after just over half an hour I was utterly wrecked.

FrankelInFoal · 30/01/2014 21:59

Ooo that's interesting thanks Winks, I've been contemplating getting something incase I decide to use the birthing pool. I don't like the idea of getting in totally nudey.

ALittleFaith · 30/01/2014 22:12

I couldn't post either.

Yay draf! So pleased for you!

There's a birthing pool up and running at my local hospital but I fancy a home birth next time if there is one! might get a birthing pool for home though.

FrankelInFoal · 30/01/2014 22:15

If I get to the MWL birthing unit (have to be at least 37 weeks and no complications) they have a birthing pool in every room, so I figure it would be rude not to give it a try Grin

MyNameIsWinkly · 31/01/2014 08:08

frank how did the tea party go?

I always assumed I would wear a cheap bikini top and tshirt in a birthing pool, so I could strip off if I was getting hot and annoyed by clothes.

FrankelInFoal · 31/01/2014 08:19

Tea party was great thanks Winks. My brownies went down very well and my boss bought some cakes from a local deli - I've brought home all the leftovers so may be giving myself diabetes this weekend with all the sugar Grin I got some gifts of baybee clothes as well which was very sweet of my colleagues.

Last day at work today, it feels very surreal, but to bring me back down to earth our accountant (AKA The Most Boring Man in England) is coming in to do our monthly accounts

MyNameIsWinkly · 31/01/2014 09:09

Have 'fun' with the accountant frank. Btw, it feels apt to me that you got your win timed so that FranksFilly would be born in the Year of the Horse :)

ALittleFaith · 31/01/2014 17:19

You know Frank you and my sister have exactly the same dates and have both finished for mat leave today! Hope you had a good day, enjoy your freedom! :)

FrankelInFoal · 31/01/2014 17:31

I've just locked up the office - last one out the door as usual! Feels very surreal!
