How are you feeling today frank? Hopefully you'll be able to relax a little over the next few weeks.

What's everyone else at this weekend?

My boobs will soon be taking over the world. Formerly a C cup, I am outgrowing the F cup bras I got for Christmas, and my milk hasn't come in yet.

FrankelInFoal · 01/02/2014 15:36

Jealous of your norkage Winks, I've only graduated from an A cup to a B cup Hmm

Not feeling too bad, probably still a bit in de nile. I am very tired though so will definitely be making the mist of a bit of down time! We drove to the hospital earlier to see how long it would take us - 25 minutes in Saturday afternoon traffic. I reckon at rush hour it will take a good 45 minutes.

maamalady · 01/02/2014 15:48

HOTB and I are on holiday :) Diffedness is making me a bit feeble though, so strolling around all morning has left me a bit more tired than I expected - now lounging around having naps and watching the rugby before we go out for tea later on.

GingerScouse · 01/02/2014 15:55

God knows where my boobs are going to end up, I was an E cup before!

MyNameIsWinkly · 01/02/2014 17:14

Don't be jealous frank, it bloody hurts, plus my boobs will be down by my knees by the time I'm done breastfeeding, yours will still be pert. Enjoy getting plenty of rest, or as much as your bladder and heartburn will allow. Have you got much more to get ready or to buy?

draf that sounds like a lovely day. I am right there being feeble with you - a morning strolling round the shops yesterday had me in bed for a snooze before work.

FrankelInFoal · 01/02/2014 17:24

Need to pack my hospital bag Blush I really should have done it by now, so that's my priority for the next few days. Other than that I think we're there. I do need to wash the baby clothes and bedding as well.

MyNameIsWinkly · 01/02/2014 21:21

You're nearly all sorted frank! Sinks how are you getting on? And merks?

Tonight appears to be a random, unpredictable Crying At Everything night. Bollocks.

MyNameIsWinkly · 01/02/2014 23:17

And a crying at everything night is a great time for my first smart arse "you're big, are you sure its not twins?" comments of the pregnancy. Fuck off.

SinkyMalinks · 02/02/2014 08:36

Yesterday was also a random crying day here. Mainly, later on, because I don't want to be a random crying woman. Excellent.

I always thought it was a cliche about everyone having an opinion on bump size. Sigh. Roll with it winks. From about a month round Xmas I just brought my EDD forward by a month. Ta-da! No comments (this only works on shop assistants and nosy old women. Don't reccomend it for family and friends. But you can reasonably tell them to feck off)

We have all the big stuff, but I think we need blankets for sleeping, incase he's too small for grobags. And more grobags/variety of sleeping things. And a changing mat. And maybe a baby bath. And a gro-egg. And ghj wants a cot mobile and something that projects on the ceiling. And muslins (autocorrect would like me to say I need Muslims...). It never bloody ends!

But we have stuck wall stickers up in the nursary and bled the radiators so we can actually heat it (had to represurise the system 3 times... That's a lot of air!).

Washing can wait for mat leave. I've been told I'm setting myself up for a fall - convincing my self he'll come early, so I'm leaving this as an inconvienience that might encourage a pre EDD arrival!

FrankelInFoal · 02/02/2014 09:24

Sinks we intend to use GroBags too, but the advice says they're not suitable for babies under 9lbs. We've bought some GroSwaddles for the early stages! plus a few sheets and blankets for the Moses basket in case she hates the swaddle.

HWHNN wanted a GroEgg too so we've got one of those. Projector-wise we bought the BT baby monitor that is a monitor, projector, and plays lullabies all-in-one. It also glows (just like the GroEgg Hmm, doubled up there). We got it on sale from Amazon but shop around to find it cheaper than RRP.

On the bump front it really doesn't stop Angry I do wish I has the balls to reply to the "Oh you're so large, it must be twins?!" brigade, "It must be, after all several professional midwives and two experienced sonographers must have got it totally wrong when you can tell just by looking at my bump with your x-Ray vision!"

Gah, civilians (as HWHNN is known to mutter Wink)

SinkyMalinks · 02/02/2014 10:09

Hehe. My service friends often mutter about civvies...

Yeah, knew the grobags won't necessarily fit from birth, just not really sure what else to use! Is it just a woolen blanket and flat sheet? Or if I get a swaddle and lordship agrees to it (bump, not ghj!) will that do? What are cellular blankets? They seem to be non wooly blankets. Are they to sleep with? Confused

Monitor we were going to hold off, figure we have a few months (weeks...) before we'll have him in his own room, but it is a good idea to get one that does music and lights - I think the bt one was the one we were looking at.

OP posts:
MyNameIsWinkly · 02/02/2014 10:59

sinky cellular blankets are the ones with little holes. They're recommended so if baby pulls it over their face, they can still breathe. this. www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Cellular-Cotton-Blanket/LX3712,default,pd.html?dwvar_LX3712_color=Cream

Men love the GroEgg - HWCA is itching to get one as well.

As the size and twins comments were on fb, made by my cousin and HWCA's best mate, I did say 'just as well the scans all show just one and the midwife said my bump was spot on just yesterday or you two would be worrying me haha'. Which was a better response than the 'fuck off'' that came to mind.

eurochick · 02/02/2014 11:07

Hello all!

I'm just catching up on the past few days' posts. It's interesting to read about this whole new world of baby-related purchases from those further along than me. I really haven't got a clue.

My bestie was told she was having a big'un. Her girl was a petite 6lbsomething.

frank woo hoo for mat leave! Do you know yet how long you might take off?

I had a lovely, but tiring, few days in Israel for work. It was great to be by the beach and see some sun. The flight back was hell though. I blew up like a balloon (I tend to bloat in the evenings anyway and sometimes bloat when flying so it was double trouble). I came in and ripped off my clothes in favour of loose PJs. I also had a full recliner in front of me, so I felt very cramped. Meh. The nausea has finally kicked in. Yesterday I couldn't do much but lay on the sofa. I hope this doesn't last.

I have my Harmony blood test and viability scan tomorrow, so another chance to see centime. :)

FrankelInFoal · 02/02/2014 11:55

Glad you had a few nice days in Israel Euro, but boo to the uncomfortable flight and bloating. How are you feeling today? On the morning sickness/general nausea front I found carbs helped.

I'm not 100% sure how long I'll take, but we're working on the theory that I'll take the full year at the moment, finances depending. There's some stuff going on in work at the moment that could lead to an expansion and my boss wants me to be involved so we've talked about the possibility of me "going back to work" but actually working from home for a few months IYSWIM. We'll play it by ear for now and see what happens.

Sinks, yes the swaddled are used on their own. You put more clothes on the baby if it is chilly, which hopefully in March it won't be!

SinkyMalinks · 02/02/2014 14:11

Back from ikea, have a chair for the nursery. Looked at baby baths while there, but they're so big and our bathroom is so small, think we'll do without and see how we get on…

Glad work trip allowed a sunny break Euro, the early bloating is grim though, isn't it. Should settle soon.

CatsCantFlyFast · 02/02/2014 16:35

I'm pretty much the same as Frankel, basically everything bought but need to wash clothes/blankets and pack hospital bag. I have no suitable pj's or cossie for the birthing pool so will need to sort that this week.
Sinks we didn't get a baby bath, instead we got a bath support, so basically something that baby can lie/sit in in the bath so you have both hands free. Ours is an Angelcare. However I'm not sure it helps with the storage/space issue
Euro sorry to hear about the nausea, hope it doesn't stick around. I found the only solution was to lie on the sofa and groan loudly

SinkyMalinks · 02/02/2014 17:05

Merks, I was thinking a bath support might be a better option, but will look at them in store first - i imagine they'll be smaller, but that might just be wishful thinking.

I have this romantic notion of ghj passing him to me for a shared bath, or vice versa, but that might be a little optimistic, for the first weeks at least!

Suppose I should start thinking about a hospital bag. But don't think i'll really do anything for a few weeks yet. If lump decides to be awkward late, I've still 8 weeks to go… (actually, thats not very long, is it? Wibble)

OP posts:
SinkyMalinks · 02/02/2014 17:06

I do have a maternity tankini though

OP posts:
FrankelInFoal · 02/02/2014 17:24

Maternity tankini type thing is on my shopping list in case I decide to give the birthing pool a whirl.

Bath-wise we bought the Angelcare one too.

8 weeks is not long Sinks, I had 8 weeks to go at New Year and that feels like it was just last week!

SinkyMalinks · 02/02/2014 18:38

Eh? You're only 2 weeks ahead of me! How were you 34 weeks at new year?

OP posts:
FrankelInFoal · 02/02/2014 20:33

32 + 8 = 40 Sinks Grin

FriendofDorothy · 02/02/2014 20:56

We had one of these bath supports which worked well and was easily storable.

SinkyMalinks · 02/02/2014 21:40

Ah, I was counting to 42 - the last possible point of pregnancy!

OP posts:
FrankelInFoal · 02/02/2014 22:00

Sure Sinks, we believe you Wink

SinkyMalinks · 02/02/2014 22:57

Oi!
