I don't like alcohol any more! Its unbelievable. The taste makes me feel sick. I still like the idea of a glass of wine but in practice I just don't.

I'm willing you both on, sinks and frank.

eurochick · 28/02/2014 11:27

frank that is pretty exciting! Your bump looked very low on the picture you posted on t'other place yesterday. Do you feel ready?

sinky that sounds irritating. My IM ante-natal appts will be at home, so at least if she is late I can potter around in the comfort of my own home.

FrankelInFoal · 28/02/2014 11:31

I think so Euro . Bags are packed, clothes and bedding are washed, some batch cooking has been done and Isofix base is installed in the car.

Grin

I'll get on my ball this afternoon and work on it Bugs

MyNameIsWinkly · 28/02/2014 11:49

Early hours Monday morning. 6lb 13oz :)

frank can you explain isofix to me? Where does the base attach to? And is Isofix a brand, or a type of thing?

SinkyMalinks · 28/02/2014 11:50

3/5 engaged. Next appt will be a sweep "if I make it that far"! She may have just been trying to make me feel better after moaning!

Oooo snap Sinks, I was 3/5ths at 38 week checkup too, though I think we're now 4/5ths.

Winks Isofix bases attach to the chassis of your car. If you have a feel in the gap between the cushions on your back seat you should be able to feel little metal loops about an inch or so long. Not every car has them though. The theory is that car seats are more stable if they are attached to Isofix bases in a car, but if you don't have them don't worry as a car seat is perfectly safe if fitted with the seatbelt correctly. HWHNN's car doesn't have Isofix points.

Most car seats these days are made to fit an Isofix base so it's a question of finding out if you have them/want to use them.

MyNameIsWinkly · 28/02/2014 11:58

I'm awful at predictions, so I'll predict two weeks on Monday, so the 24th, and 9lb 3oz for sinks, thereby virtually guaranteeing it won't be anywhere near that long Grin

I have decided mine WILL come 10 days early, like her older cousin, and not a week late like her younger cousin.

KatAndKit · 28/02/2014 11:59

If you feel at the back of the rear seat of the car, put you hand in the gap and you will feel square shaped metal rings. It has been standard in most cars since 2006 to have isofix points on the back seat except in the middle. The car seat base attaches to these points. I strongly recommend them, takes away the human error of using the seat belt incorrectly and it is so much quicker and easier.

SinkyMalinks · 28/02/2014 12:21

24th winks! If I go that long I'm holding you personally responsible!

Isofix, from reading, I wouldn't be worried about the safety aspect of isofix vs seatbelt, but it is meant to be so much quicker and easier to get the seat in and out. Both our cars have isofix but we only have one base and plan to leave it in mine.

Congrats Bugs, fantastic news. I measured 4 days smaller than I expected at my first scan

Frank I doubt I will be beating anybody to the finish post. Baby not engaging (prob due to my pelvis being on the wonk) and i haven't even had a BH. V jealous of your single contraction and low bump...if my bump gets any higher it will merge with my boobs Grin

Keep eating Bugs, the Buglet needs fuel Grin Is your car a Ford? That's what HWHNN drives at the moment (06 plate), apparently Ford are the only major company not to install Isofix as standard in all new cars Hmm If you buy a Ford from new they are a free optional extra, just not standard.

eurochick · 28/02/2014 13:16

bugs I have been starving for most of the last 3 months. First of all, I just couldn't inhale food fast enough. Then the nausea started and all I wanted was bland carbs, very regularly, to help keep it at bay. Now that is easing I am back to inhaling. Before I used to feel my stomach rumble, think "45 minutes until lunch" and carry on. Now as soon as I feel hungry I HAVE to eat.

I have no idea what my car has in it. I am still refusing to plan for actually having a baby at the end of this. It has plenty of room for guns though. :)

FrankelInFoal · 28/02/2014 13:25

Eating small amounts regularly is definitely advised. When I had my dizzy spell at about 16wks (I think) I was given strict instructions to snack to keep my blood sugar levels up.

SinkyMalinks · 28/02/2014 13:37

I am an eating machine. Which might explain the 15 stone and picture in t'other place.

Merk - how have you avoided unibump/boob!

Oh yes, the first trimester insatiable hunger. I could not believe just how much I could eat and still have room for more. Like euro said as well, it had to be NOW. Waiting wasn't an option.

I always found that chicken helped

SinkyMalinks · 28/02/2014 14:26

I ate a lot of new potatoes and raw onion. Maybe not for everyone though..

If I go to a Nearly New sale tomorrow what would I need? I have 20 vests in 0-1 or 0-3 months, half a dozen sleepsuits, scratch mitts, donated nappies and bottles, a blanket and 2 soft toys. DSis is buying my pram, MIL and FIL will be buying the cot, one friend has offered me a breast pump and another has two unused GroSwaddles. Plus my parents want to buy something. Oh and I have a Moby sling and a Mamas & Papas carrier that belonged to my sister.

(I do know I am very lucky, btw) So what do I need to buy? Car seat and bed sheets I will probably want to buy new.
