Well... we're getting there at least, and definitely ready to meet the first thread baby!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Julietee · 13/01/2014 14:40

Marzi Yeah, I was wondering if that was the reason for bringing pillows, but the email didn't say that, it said they were for comfort so I'll have to tell you tomorrow!
Doc kinda threw that in there as an afterthought. I didn't have time to ask about it in any more detail. Irritating as he is usually very good.

gnittinggnome · 13/01/2014 15:09

julie it's your vena cava inferior (a large vein that runs behind/under your uterus) which can get squished if on your back for any length of time, and may be slightly cramped if on your right hand side. Left hand side is optimal, then right hand side, then back if you absolutely must... If you're worried can you block that side with cushions?

Julietee · 13/01/2014 15:19

Thanks Gnitting.
Recently I feel like I'm squishing LO in my pelvis when I lie on my left! I can feel him in there and there's a lot of pressure on my left hip and I can't get comfy aaargh.

marzipanned · 13/01/2014 15:23

Oh, that is weird julietee. That reminds me though - one of the couples hadn't brought any (cushions/ball) and the woman just took one of mine without asking! So guard yours closely Grin

I managed to find the paper re different sided sleeping online ages ago. There was a study done in NZ. There were no differences in stillbirth rates between women sleeping on RHS and LHS and there was a very, very minimal increase in stillbirth rates between women sleeping on side and women sleeping on back. However, importantly, even authors of study admitted that paper was totally inconclusive because it was self reported and while you can say "I went to sleep on my LHS and woke up on my back", without external monitoring nobody knows how you actually slept for the majority of the night.

winterflowers · 13/01/2014 15:37

I just totally wedge myself in with pillows so even if I do roll onto my back I'm still a bit propped up. But it can't be any major bad thing else there's no way we would have evolved like that...

Have developed a weird achy pain on my upper left, too low to be my stomach or ribs tho I think. Having a lie down and seeing if that helps at all :(

Morien · 13/01/2014 15:45

I just can't get comfortable at night either at the moment - thank goodness I've stopped work, as I'd have hated to have to go to work this morning given how rough I felt.

I've just started with swelling too - ankles and fingers. It's not too bad, but I can see the elastic mark when I take my socks off, and I've taken off my wedding ring for now. At least it's only happened right at the end.

DH moved all the junk out of the baby's room this weekend so I've finally managed to make a start on getting the room sorted. I'd like say that he did so spontaneously but I'd be lying Wink It took a little pregnant-lady-meltdown - but it did the trick!

Still not made much progress on the hospital bag though...

ch1134 · 13/01/2014 15:47

feeling so run down with a cold and house is a mess (carpeters/ electricians booked in, dust everywhere!)... Thought I was getting organised doing click and collect John Lewis baby stuff at waitrose but after getting it naughtily popped into town... got zapped on the way out of the car park and now pretty sure I'll have a parking fine!
Just don't feel in the best mental space to be having a baby right now! 38 weeks today!

gnittinggnome · 13/01/2014 15:55

Just had my last MW appointment! And an induction tentatively booked for the 27th, which is the day after my EDD, in case Bean hasn't arrived by then.... Haircut and wax booked for tomorrow, and then any time after that, little one, you're welcome Smile

Very excited about the early birds - it's made it crystallise a bit for me that he really could get here any time now! Let's hope the last-minute TENS machine arrives first!

EeyoreIsh · 13/01/2014 16:01

ch sympathies about the work on your house. That was us a month ago, I found it really hard to cope. I hope everything comes together soon!

CubanoHabana · 13/01/2014 16:05

Getting frustrated that there is no news on misskatamari! Hopefully no news is good news!

marzipanned · 13/01/2014 16:12

Cubano I am hoping that she is too deep in her visualisations to want to turn on phones/computers! In all seriousness I do hope it's all going well for her.

ch I can really sympathise re the house situation too. It's an utter nightmare while it's going on - but house will hopefully look and feel amazing afterwards.

gnitting that's so exciting! You have at most two weeks left!!!!!!!

ch1134 · 13/01/2014 16:31

Thanks for the kind words.
Any ideas on the parking fine? Don't suppose anyone else is stupid enough to get themselves one?

rescoonetwothree · 13/01/2014 16:38

Hi everyone, hope all is going well for everyone! I posted a while back but haven't been on here much since - was in the March group as am due early March but seems to be a trend among the family to be early anyway! Currently 32 weeks Smile

Is there a fb group I could join at all? I find it much easier to keep up with that than mumsnet at times although promise to make an effort to contribute from now on more than I have done!!

Timpani · 13/01/2014 16:38

Dawnofthedee I think I've managed to PM you about the FB group rather than outing myself on here again!

Exciting about missKat!

Nothing to report here - few painful BH yesterday though. 37+2 today....

winterflowers · 13/01/2014 16:41

I know I'm bouncing around with excitement to know how she's doing...and to see more baby pics of course!

Wow gnitting it's good to have a latest day so you know when bean will be here by

rescoonetwothree · 13/01/2014 16:41

Posted before I meant to - haven't had a chance to go back thoroughly yet but was only going to add that I have had the same experience of NCT as champagne so would also definitely complain!

marzipanned · 13/01/2014 17:09

ch I've had two parking fines - once it was entirely my fault and I just paid up, the other time it was a genuine misunderstanding on my part (one street had two different pricing levels - I was parked in the higher pricing level but the machine nearest my car had the lower pricing level on it - not sure if that makes any sense, but the council has since changed the machines so it must've happened to heaps of people) Anyway I wrote to them and challenged the fine and they cancelled it.

Wait and see what they send you, you can always try sending them a politely worded challenge, but no guarantee they'll accept it...

ch1134 · 13/01/2014 17:20

cheers for that marzipanned. i think I might be able to get away with it as I had shopped there one hour earlier and have a receipt to prove it... will just have to say I was using their loo for a long time or something!

winterflowers · 13/01/2014 17:31

Play the pregnancy card ch ;)

Littleen · 13/01/2014 18:02

Julie That sounds rubbish for a class you have to pay for O.o
I still sleep on both sides, as either are as comfy as it can get. Baby kicks whichever side I turn to, so there's not much I can change. I was lying on my right side when having CTG check on baby a week ago, and he was very happy, so can't be that bad! Genuinely don't think it matters unless you feel uncomfortable in terms of breathing etc, like some of us do when on our back! Also feeling like baby is squashed in the pelvis/hip area, as I can feel movement, but I really can't do anything other than sit to stop it!

tiny glad everything was fine afterall :) I have been trying to read, using bump as bookrest, and he keeps kicking my book.

Found my hypnobirth book!!! It was in the most obvious place. Also thought I lost my uhm "fake teeth" (to stop me grinding them at night), was looking for 3 days on the floor and in various cupboards, until I found them in their box in the bathroom. Doh.

Also waiting excitedly for news about misskat! Hope all is well :)

Julietee · 13/01/2014 18:51

Littleen Yeah, I'm almost sure he would move or at least kick frantically if I was actually squashing him! But I can't stop worrying about this stuff...

Going to leave for NCT class at 7:20, so will be able to tell you all if it's as crummy as the email made it sound! Hopefully not.

CubanoHabana · 13/01/2014 20:22

For those not Fb, misskat has had her baby!

Littleen · 13/01/2014 20:35

omg omg omg!!

ch1134 · 13/01/2014 20:51

Congratulations MissKat!

PoopPoooDeDooo · 13/01/2014 21:06
