I am loving all the kiddy stories. In a queue in the supermarket there was a heavily pregnant lady & a boy of possibly 4ish & he said "ok Mummy I've given it some thought. I think we should give the baby to a family that really wants one." (At this point the entire queues ears are alerted) Mum "No we've talked about this, we are a family that really want a baby & the baby will definitely be living with us." The little boy "ok then you leave me no choice. Daddy is going to have to move out and live with the baby and I am going to stay and look after you."

I was so disappointed that they'd paid & gone then I could have stayed listening all night! Love it hahaha

SleepyNess · 12/01/2014 15:58

I'm just wondering.. How does knowing baby's sex help with prepping the siblings? I know a few that were really hooked on the idea of 'little brother' or 'little sis' and were terribly disappointed upon realising a newborn is actually really boring and cannot play :)

BEEwitched · 12/01/2014 16:16

I don't know, the 3 year old daughter of my cousin was VERY excited about getting a little sibling and always referred to her 'little sister'. That's what baby was going to be called, and even if it was a little brother they were still going to call the baby 'little sister'!

We had a ton of fun at my wedding when she decided my little brother, whom she adores, is indeed a 'little sister', too, as is my husband!

BEEwitched · 12/01/2014 16:17

PS She ended up with a little brother and adores him! Even though he's not called little sister!

ohcluttergotme · 12/01/2014 16:17

It probably doesn't sleepy.
It's more realistic to say to a little one that a "new baby" is coming rather than "brother " or "sister"

MrsCharlieD · 12/01/2014 17:32

Hi everyone hope everyone is ok? We went for our gender scan today which was absolutely brilliant. we are having a boy. So excited now to meet my baby Jude Joseph x x

GillyBillyWilly · 12/01/2014 17:39

Oooh you've given him a name already!!!!!
You're waaaay more prepared than me! Grin

ohcluttergotme · 12/01/2014 17:56

Aw lovely news MrsCharlie, great names. Joseph is one of our no 1s for boys

hackneybird · 12/01/2014 17:58

clutter would you advise against prepping an older sibling for a specific gender?

Congrats charlied you must be very relieved! We have friends with a little boy called Jude. We will have a short list of names to pick from but will wait until we meet him
or her to decide which one.

bumble that convo in the supermarket sounded like a classic:)

Congrats charlie... Anyone else named or going to name as soon as they find out the sex? As we've known ours is a girl from super early DP and I have named but not telling anyone incase we change our mind once she pops out!

So, still no 2nd tri glow from me.... Have perversely been watching one born every minute all arvo trying to prepare myself and DP Grin. It's not been as bad as I though it would be but DP is how scared Smile

Jessiebaba · 12/01/2014 18:17

Mitchell We have a boys name which we're agreed on and pretty certain of so if we find out we're having a boy, we will kind of know that's what he'll be called. We're not telling anyone else though in case we were to change our mind when we see him.

Really struggling with girl names so if we find out we're having a girl, I think we'll probably have a shortlist then decide when we meet her.

Jessiebaba · 12/01/2014 18:18

Congrats again charlie! Loving the baby boy clothes you've posted pics of on the facebook group! Super cute! Grin

Lmf679 · 12/01/2014 18:40

We have a girls name picked out we both love and have done for ages, DH thinks we have a boys name too but I'm having second thoughts on it and swaying to something else on the list. We'll see when he/she arrives I guess?

BEEwitched · 12/01/2014 18:49

I can't imagine naming my little person before meeting him/her so it'll have to wait until after he/she is born - I have an extensive list, though!

ohcluttergotme · 12/01/2014 18:57

Nope not at all Hackney, and part of me is swaying to find out so we can tell ds incase it's a girl as he is convinced its a boy.

Just thinking that a sibling may start to think of them as little "brother" or "sister" and think they are going to be lots of fun and not appreciate that there just a "baby" really when born and all babies kinda do the same boring stuff. That maybe doesn't make it any sense.

I'm just imagining though saying to older sib "oh your going to have your little brother/sister, won't that be fun" then when baby comes they think "no, they're not much fun, boring baby!"

Bumblebeesmum · 12/01/2014 19:01

Congratulations Charlie. We had a boys name for our 1st v early on but are really really struggling with coming up with names we agree on this time.

I have my next door neighbours little boy staying overnight at a weekend in a couple of weeks & I am so nervous. I felt sorry for her because it's her birthday party & no one will sit him as he's 'so difficult' including her mum who had her daughter loads but can't handle him. He is 2 & only eats bread & pasta (her long term problem - I can manage pasta!) but 'might go to sleep some time between 9&12. Erm....omg what? I am v v nervous but her partner of 6 years moved out a month ago & she has never had a break from him ever & it's her birthday so I'm doing a good thing....I hope!!!!

Bumblebeesmum · 12/01/2014 19:04

Oh & btw my siblings always brought me presents the day they came home from the hospital. I remember when I was 6 & no 4 came home I was devastated he was a boy but very happy with the present he had with him for me & never put 2+2 together for years! :)

Redcliff · 12/01/2014 19:29

What a great supermarket conversation - I loved that the boy had thought it all through.

Bumble - what a lovely thing to do. I am sure your neighbour will have a great time. One of my DS's friends has a limited diet - it must be really tricky. Hope you get him to bed before 12!

MarlenaGru · 12/01/2014 19:59

bumble that is very kind of you. It will be fine for one Night I am sure. I looked after my nephew when their second was born and he sounds similar with not sleeping etc. DBil said he wouldn't bother if he were me trying to out him to bed as he never goes to bed but I wasn't keen on spending my evening with an overtired 3 year old and I put him to bed and he went to sleep! I think he was too scared to play up with me. That said I have a lot of practice with an insomniac 5 year old!

wispaxmas · 12/01/2014 20:24

Mrscharlied, Jude! My best friend had a little boy named Jude just on Christmas Day Grin

Bumblebeesmum · 12/01/2014 20:35

I love the name Jude! I'm not allowed it though as it's short for Judas & husband can't get his head round it. Then again I'm not allowed so so many gorgeous names - all with silly reasons - he is such a pain!!!

BEEwitched · 12/01/2014 20:40

There are over 30 names on my girls list and only 10 on my boys list. Grrr.

Jude is lovely, MrsCharlie!

Bumblebeesmum · 12/01/2014 20:42

'Only 10' bloody hell Bee that's plenty! I'd be happy with 2 or 3...or the way we're going even just 1!! :)

CleverOl10 · 12/01/2014 21:11

We have a girls name sorted but a total blank on boys! Not going to worry til next Tuesday when I have my 20 week scan and hopefully find out the gender!

MrsCharlieD · 12/01/2014 21:19

Thank you for the congratulation messages. We decided on Jude years ago, dh and i are big beatles fans. We're so excited and can't wait to meet our son x
