Sorry to those who seem to be struggling, the first 12 weeks really are the worse, you feel the worse, it's a secret, you're crapping yourself with what ifs, you don't want to think about it to much just in case BUT it's all you can think about....I can't wait until my early scan on sat to give me some idea where we are and then 12 weeks hopefully won't seem to far away!!

stinkypants · 06/01/2014 23:09

Hi
Just joining in. . Think I'm due 20th aug, not been to gp yet with Xmas etc.
Had one mc about 5 years ago and have 2 ds's.
Also anxiously checking every time go to loo.
Not been sick but nauseous and exhausted. Wondering if might be anaemic already as was with both previously but surely too early?
Never thought about an early scan- is this through the midwife?
Lovely to read this thread. So excited about summer baby! !

Lissbug · 06/01/2014 23:36

Thanks for the welcome everyone! It has been hard to keep going sometimes but the fact was I was getting pregnant which is more than some ever achieve. This was my last fresh IVF cycle though. I just decided I wouldn't put my body through it again. All the drugs make you go crazy. We have 4 pretty good eggs in the freezer so hopefully this one is ok and we can use the others to have another one later!
In terms of meds I am on steroids and intralipids, which basically a fat. These help counteract high natural killer cells. I am on a thyroid medication to counteract high thyroid antibodies. Both these help the blastocyst to implant without being attacked. I am also on blood thinners clexane (stomach injection once a day) and aspirin plus progesterone injections once a day (in the bum. Lovely....) and progesterone gel twice a day. It's all a joy. I feel like a pin cushion but it's worth it!

HungryHorace · 07/01/2014 02:25

Wow, Liss, is it your DH who gets the job of injecting you? I couldn't face doing the clexane when I came home with DD, so my DH got that job!

Does that mean you've got one of the cute little home sharps boxes?!

Do you have to take everything for the full 9 months? It's quite crazy how medical management can help bodies sustain a pregnancy. I wish you every luck in the world. Xx

flymo79 · 07/01/2014 07:03

Wow liss, am so humbled by your story, wishing you every luck with this round and you are a total inspiration. And nulanoo, being sick is so horrid. keep on trucking. when i'm feeling crap at work i will remember you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Nulanoo · 07/01/2014 07:04

My problem feels like nothing that's an incredible journey will be thinking of you. Just trying to get ready for work and hoping last night was a one off!x

ScienceGeekGirl · 07/01/2014 07:43

Starting to wonder now when will be the day I don't get to see my breakfast again on a morning. Today's interesting place to be sick: shower. Yesterday was toilet but literally seconds after taking (horse tablets) vitamin pill. Bit nervous about trying to take it today.

Liss, sounds like you are staying positive and that you have every reason to be. Hope you enjoy our little group!

HungryHorace · 07/01/2014 08:01

Science, my body often decides to make me be sick in the shower. Odd!

I had to send DH down to make met toast at about 3am. It was lovely!

Apparently I was sleep talking absolute drivel at him before that. He said I was so intense it disturbed him and he had to turn away from me. Oops!

ew, ruggle, how horrid. So sorry that happened to you. I had that happen to me once and I went straight to the door of a house that was well lit and looked like people were home and rang the doorbell. Fortunately he ran away, just in time because no-one answered! had someone come to the door I was ready to say there was someone following me and I didn't like it and could they call the police while I waited at their door. They probably would've thought it was some sort of a scam though! London!

Feelingfatty · 07/01/2014 08:57

Oh gosh ruggle that would have really scared me!! Hmm Poor you!!

I've completely gone off tea now :( I'd already switched to decaf which at first I found fine but now the thought of any tea makes me want to hurl :( rubbish!!

flymo79 · 07/01/2014 09:14

me too, feeling, I am finding it hard to have anything milky. Bit worrying really! I need to get some milk in me!

2beornot · 07/01/2014 09:17

OMG, ruggle!! How weird! Glad it ended up ok though.

Still nothing to report from 2be towers! I flick between worry and excitement and disbelief!! I'm hoping it'll all feel real after 12 weeks and that family don't mind that I've kept it from them all this time! I can't believe I haven't been tempted to tell anyone!!

Liss- amazing journey you've been on. I've been relatively lucky really and I'm not sure if i would be strong enough to go through everything you have. I really hope this one works out for you, and why wouldn't it?!

flymo79 · 07/01/2014 09:22

oh, and hi to stinkypants!!

Ruggle · 07/01/2014 09:28

We've only just moved to this area so hasn't made me feel particularly safe!

Just when I thought I was getting used to vomming, I threw up last night and it felt like pure acid....and my oesophagus is still burning. I've also pulled my stomach muscles. Dreading the next vom session! Are there specific foods that make it more/lass acidic? I can't think what might have caused it other than a bag of popcorn...

HungryHorace · 07/01/2014 09:30

Ah, yes, hi stinky!

Are you normally a weirdo magnet, Ruggle, or is it a new thing? He really was very odd. I think I'd have gone into a shop or something until he'd gone. Glad you're ok.

So, my boobs are EPIC. Bloody heavy too. I won't be able to balance soon! Anybody experiencing huge boob growth?!

WeeJo08 · 07/01/2014 09:35

ScienceGeek Which brand are you on? A friend of mine had real trouble with Pregnacare...she was okay when she switched brands. Weirdly though, it was only in her 2nd pregnancy - she took them all through her first with no problems!

PinaColadas · 07/01/2014 09:58

Ruggle that sounds petrifying! You did well to keep cool.

Science are you eating before pregnacare? Last time round I wondered why I was so sick and then realised it was because I was having pregnacare on an empty stomach! Try having it after food, even just some dry toast.

CountdownBegins · 07/01/2014 09:58

Science I had to stop taking pregnacare as it was making me feel so ill- I didn't take it for a few days and just took folic acid and although I still feel sick it's no where near as bad as before- I read some reviews on it and I think it is the mix with the heightened hormones etc- I was taking it before I was pregnant for about a month and up til I was 8 weeks with no problems so could be worth you switching?

My scan is 9am tomorrow- less than 24 hours now! So nervous/excited!

2beornot · 07/01/2014 09:58

Science - can you get a pill cutter? Is it the size or something else? I can't take pills with that sugary coating on whether pregnant or not without throwing up!

2beornot · 07/01/2014 10:00

Countdown - good luck! Is this an early scan or the regular dating scan?

I've still not got a date - going to phone on fri (two weeks after I spoke to midwife on phone) but not sure if I should be phoning midwife or hospital?!

Ruggle · 07/01/2014 10:02

Horace, I have tended to attract weirdos in the past, but not ones that have just approached me in the street like that. I was dressed as frumpily as you could imagine and wearing a huge puffa coat and looking like a drowned rat...with utter exhaustion etched on my face.. Last thing I expected was to be chatted up and followed.

CountdownBegins · 07/01/2014 10:08

Thanks 2be it's an early scan- ill be 9wk 4days though so not that early!

I called the doctors to chase my scan appointments and the lady said call the maternity unit at te hospital as they can access the database directly but my appointments arrived that day so I didn't need to in the end- if def call them- they can reassure you of your appointments or book you in if there has been an error!

CountdownBegins · 07/01/2014 10:09

I meant call the midwife!

HungryHorace · 07/01/2014 10:28

I can't take Pregnacare. The conception version always coincides with weird bleeding and WTF cycles. The only 2 WTF cycles I've ever had have been when taking Pregnacare. Weird, eh?

I wouldn't want to take it in pregnancy in case I have more weird side effects!

I'm taking Sainsbury's own version which doesn't have more than 100% RDA of each vitamin, which I prefer.

Ruggle, let's hope that bloke was a one off. Really makes you wonder what makes such people tick!
