Am I the only one feeling slightly anxious right now? I feel like there's a lot of expectation on this year and on our little bean, because of the time of year. But it's still so so early...

HungryHorace · 01/01/2014 07:48

Happy new year everyone!

Did anybody else see new year in with their head down the loo?! 'Morning' sickness has ramped up here. Yuck!

Mssleepyhead, I think how you're feeling is natural. It's an emotional, anxious time being pregnant. Your bean doesn't know about the expectation, so don't worry! :-)

onion19632 · 01/01/2014 08:21

That's great news Finn :)
Happy New Year to everyone! X

lucyfluff · 01/01/2014 08:37

mszeenwithabean · 01/01/2014 08:46

morning all and happy new year to everyone!

sorry to hear your news itchy..x

congrats to all getting finding lovely healthy heartbeats it is great news. Smile
hopefully 2014 will be a positive year for all with clingy, sticky, healthy pregnancies..xx

I've been referred for an early scan on friday 10:20 have had another bout of light pink bleeding... makes 3 bouts of bleeding in the last couple of weeks.. Sad am really quite nervous and worried that all my 'stretching' pains are something more sinister. guess we'll find out soon one way or another - feels like an age till scan date though.

Ruggle · 01/01/2014 08:46

Happy New Year!

Does anyone else have asthma? I have very occasional attacks and just use Ventolin but not preventatives. I have a bad cold at the mo which has got into my lungs and I feel I need a few puffs of my inhaler to help me breathe but am worried about the safety of it in pregnancy. Anyone clued up on this? Websites give contradictory information!

ScienceGeekGirl · 01/01/2014 08:50

Me hungry! I'm pretty sure all the fireworks were to commemorate my first proper puking session. Didn't see a single firework as I puked into a bag through the whole thing. From the noise they were making they sounded pretty good too. Not one of my most enjoyable nye celebrations. But guess its a good sign for squiggle. My early scan is Saturday and I'm both terrified and excited.

Happy new year ladies and corresponding squiggles!!!

ScienceGeekGirl · 01/01/2014 08:55

Rugged, re inhaler I asked my GP about them and he says it's fine to take as and when needed

Jenbee1 · 01/01/2014 09:16

Happy new year everyone.
Only made it to midnight with a nap between 8 and 10pm :-)

WeeJo08 · 01/01/2014 09:19

Happy New Year everyone! Hope everybody's 2014 is happy & healthy Smile Sorry to everyone who's not feeling the best. I was feeling super dodgy last night which wasn't easy with friends round!! Had to keep excusing myself! It did settle later which was good though. AND...I stayed up until 12:38am!!! Shock Very proud (and amazed!!)

We had a lovely FaceTime session with our two nephews & my brother-in-law in Australia, which was fab. It's been such a tough year for them as their eldest was diagnosed with leukaemia (he only turns 3 this Friday) so we're hoping their 2014 brings luck & health & happiness.

Have a great New Years Day everyone! And yay to the heartbeat, Finn! Grin It is truly amazing to see Smile

Ruggle · 01/01/2014 09:22

I am currently staying at Center Parcs in a "villa" with my OH, step-monkey, OH's best friends and their two little boys. With everyone sitting in the lounge waiting as breakfast was being cooked, I wandered out to say good morning but ended up straight in the loo (right in front of them) , vomming. Nice!

babyspice2501 · 01/01/2014 09:45

Morning girls! Happy new year! I actually stayed up till midnight and was fine about it! Go me!

I cant believe we are having babies THIS year! So excited!

lucyfluff · 01/01/2014 10:03

Asthma here too ruggle....preventer used fine in pregnancy...actually felt quite out of breath the past few days!!

BunnyBaby · 01/01/2014 10:46

Great news Finn!

MsZeen - my SIL has bleeding and pain early on and it turned out it was an ovarian cyst which her body quickly reabsorbed. Don't get worried x

I flaked out early last night, but was awakened by all the fireworks at midnight, then couldn't get back to sleep, so v tired today.

Happy New Year everyone, feels an age since DS1 was born in 2007, yet also like yesterday, how the time flies!

mumtoacub · 01/01/2014 11:36

Happy new year!!!! Can you all believe this time next year we will gave little bambinos? Bet a lot of us who issued the bells last year will see them this year, with a wide awake 4 month old!
Congratulations Finn I can't wait to hear heartbeat, have scans etc.
Feeling fatty I have little advice only that I'm really sore as well at times the cramps are so bad I worry something bad is happening. I woke two nights ago with a horrendous stabbing pain under my right ribs and my lower back is always sore.
I can only suggest it's muscle pulling to accommodate changing womb, is this your first? Apparantly after the first pregnancy these pains happen earlier due to weakened muscles. Which makes little sense to me I would expect your body to be better able to cope.
I keeping thinking that as long as no bleeding everything should be ok.....fingers crossed.

RoseHoney · 01/01/2014 12:11

Happy new year everyone Smile

Does anyone know what the deal is with EPU's today?
Been having some right sided pain and backache for a couple of days and trying not to worry but would rather get it checked.
I can't go tomorrow as it's my sons birthday but obviously will if I really have to.
Even if the EPU is open I doubt the scanning department will be right?
Eugh I hate worrying!

HalfPintPickle · 01/01/2014 12:44

Ours is shut today. I went to the GP yesterday for the same thing ( cramping and back pain) and she sent me to A&E with a letter - ? Ectopic. After a 9 hour visit (!!!!) was told everything internally looks fine and bloods are good, but the only way to know for sure was to go and see the EPU on the 2nd!

Why the hell the GP didn't just say I could wait until Thursday was beyond me! So I ended up spending NYE in a cubical in the hospital by myself! Nice!

Hope you're ok Rose and the discomfort isn't too bad!

Happy New Year everyone!

Is anyone else analysing their symptoms still? I have had days where I've felt so rough but then yesterday and today I've felt completely fine- is that normal? I did feel rough last night after midnight but put that down to being tired... don't want to start googling as all that does is bring up scary stories amongst the positive stuff...

Think I'm having a bit of a wobble! The sickness and symptoms were reassuring me so when their not there I just panic! Sorry for the negative vibes.

HungryHorace · 01/01/2014 12:47

I'd imagine they are shut, Rose, which is a pain. I hope your pains lessen very soon. Pregnancy is such a worry, isn't it?

And that's a bit crap, Half pint, will you have to call them first or will A&E have told them you're coming?

I hope all is well for both of you.

AntoinetteCosway · 01/01/2014 12:50

Hi all, may I join you? I'm 8+4 according to LMP and this will be DC2. DD is 2.3 so there will be almost three years between them. Had one miscarriage before DD so am
v nervous about this baby sticking-fingers crossed! Due on August 9th though my cycle is long and I reckon it's actually about the 16th-am sure I will be told I'm wrong at the firs scan!

Booking in appt is tomorrow. Is it too early for the midwife to hear the heartbeat? I'm desperate to know there's a living baby in there.

Slightly nervous as I have no childcare so DD will be coming to the booking in appt. Not sure how I'm going to keep her entertained for a whole hour in a tiny room at naptime!

HungryHorace · 01/01/2014 12:50

Oh, and yes, Countdown. I keep telling DH I don't feel pregnant, even though I do feel sick. But I'm not sure if it's pregnancy sickness, or sickness because my tummy is sore from being sick. Talk about over analysing!

Until you can feel baby on a regular basis it's a constant worry.

HungryHorace · 01/01/2014 12:52

Antoinette, it is too early to hear on a Doppler, yes. They normally only do it from 16 weeks, and even then they warn they might not be able to find it if the baby's in an awkward position.

Can you try to get your DD asleep in her buggy before your appointment?

AntoinetteCosway · 01/01/2014 12:57

Bugger, I thought that might be the case. Weird how much I've forgotten from the last pregnancy!

DD doesn't really sleep in the buggy anymore, sadly... I think I'll just download lots of cbeebies onto the iPad and show myself up as not being parent of the year!

CountdownBegins · 01/01/2014 12:58

Thanks Hungry- it is so hard not to over analyse isn't it! DP is getting the same from me.

I have my scan next Wednesday and I'm just petrified there will be nothing there- think after my MC my mind is in overdrive. I guess there is nothing I can do either way as just have to hope for the best!

lucyfluff · 01/01/2014 13:09

Im feeling the same countdown...worrying as symptoms have basically gone Sad keep dreaming im either bleeding or somethings wrong with bubba. Im hoping a scan will actually reassure me Hmm
