Just had my 30 week MW appointment. All good I think. Baby is head down but not engaged. Heard the heartbeat again, which is always lovely!

My BP top number is a bit higher again (130/66) - MW says that's normal as long as each number goes no more than 15 above where it started at the first appointment (which for me was 117 on top, so it is just in there...). She seemed happy with the bottom number (feels like they put more emphasis on that one?) Anyway, if she's happy I'm happy, though I would have preferred it to be a bit lower.

Had a different MW to usual as mine is off for half term - she was SUPER organised! Kind of wish I had this one all along, though my normal one is very nice too ... just a bit slow and quite often leaves things to the practice nurse to do that I get the strong impression other midwives would manage to fit into the appointment!

Had my whooping cough jab just before. Our practice nurse is a bit of a star- didn't feel it at all! He said the next time I would see him is the baby's 8 week appointment, which makes it all feel very real!!

Misty9 · 17/02/2014 19:13

Evening all.
light I hope the jab isn't making itself known by now...it's the after effects which suck usually!
blessed aw, thank you, but dh doesn't judge or complain, I just feel bad sometimes for taking my tiredness out on him.

Absolutely knackered today. Feel like I've doubled in size in the last few days (and look like it too) and getting more uncomfortable. Poor ds is ill again too and not sleeping well. Spent most of today screaming in agony with his teeth, bloody molars. Combined with a chest infection and wheezing it's not good here :(
Now getting tons of Braxton hicks tonight so I think I've overdone it.

Does not bode well for our trip to see mum in Spain on Thursday...

Hope everyone's doing well as can be expected

Evening! BH coming thick and fast here! I'm finding them so painful compared to last time.

DS's first tooth is just poking thru! Should properly come through this week I think! He's been a star tho and hardly complained so far Grin

Can't see me getting to 40 weeks, feel massive this time and ache everywhere

30+2

smilesallround247 · 17/02/2014 20:55

Hey glad everyone is doing ok.
I'm feeling better but my run of bad luck is still going strong as some ass hole went into the side of my car. I was parked in a car park. who hits a parked car!!!??? He just dented a side panel and ripped off some of the trim. He admitted full responsibility- how could he not!? sigh but I have just been given brand new mamas and papas furniture for free from DP cousin :) that cheered me up!

LeeHandy · 17/02/2014 21:18

light, the lower number on the bp is the more important one I know, don't remember the exact reason though. glad all is going well.
misty and cannot, isn't there anything you can do for bh? I will ask my nct lady tmw about this.
smiles, what a bummer about your car! great news on the nursery stuff though.. Grin Grin
My bump is growing everyday and it's becoming harder to make sudden movements. I am a proper waddling pregnant lady now. Smile
34 today!

Thanks misty and lee!

That actually makes a lot if sense about the jab as have been feeling knackered, despite a very relaxing weekend! Hopefully a good night's sleep will sort me out.

Xxx

smilesallround247 · 18/02/2014 10:04

Just had a check up at the midwives. Heard my little girls heart beat- I love that sound!!! my partner says it sounds like poorly done garage music. Wink
I'm 30+5 days and she's already head down. is this too early or just right? The midwife didn't seem concerned but I'm just curious.

Thanks

Misty9 · 18/02/2014 10:22

Is it your first smiles? Can't remember... If so, then head down this early is normal and good; if second or subsequent, it means nothing and they flip in and out of engagement right up to birth! Mine is head down at 32wks - or at least she was last week :)

Got 33/34wk mw check later then it's home birth visits a go-go!

smilesallround247 · 18/02/2014 10:32

Yeah she's my first. feels like it's all 'real' now. I mean head down getting ready to come out if you know what I mean. will she stay head down or flip around?

BlessedAssurance · 18/02/2014 10:34

smile totally agree with your partner wrt the poorly done musicSmile. It's not a problem at all that your loved one is already head down. I believe my son has been head down since conception dayGrin and he has stayed that way. That is good news, hoping they will stay that way.

smilesallround247 · 18/02/2014 10:41

I hope so too! I was a breech baby. apparently came into the world bum first and my partner was the same!
Thanks

Misty9 · 18/02/2014 11:02

They can still flip around at this stage, but it's a good sign to be head down already :)

Vikkijayne2507 · 18/02/2014 13:38

hehe smiles my oh always makes club music sounds when he he's the hb crazy man

Hello, first post here. Due 23 April so nearly 31 weeks now - eek!
I just wondered if everyone had already bought their travel systems?
My mum seems to think I should wait until the baby arrives and see what I need.
We have a car seat so can get the baby home but wondered what everyone else thought?
Also is it just me or is it really hard to find a nice light option? I have a back which plays up and small boot and don't seem to be having much luck hunting out many options.
Thanks Smile

smilesallround247 · 18/02/2014 14:41

Hey I got mine from mother care in the sales. its an xperia travel system or something like that. It has the car seat, pram and buggy. my car is a small renault clio but it fits in my boot. x

Cannotbelieveit · 18/02/2014 14:56

Welcome cold x

We have the Babystyle oyster currently but have the oyster max ready to go as we need a travel system for 2 (there will be a 12 month gap between DS's)

What car seat have you got? Maybe we can see which systems it fits for you x

iloveweetos · 18/02/2014 18:08

Hi cold. We bought a silver cross one from mothercare. I recommend going to mothercare and just have a look at a few there. The staff will (depending on their moods lol) open it up and show u different ways it can go etc

ColdCottage · 18/02/2014 21:25

Thank you all, I have been given a maxi cosi (something, not sure on model) with a base to fit in car.
Want to have them face me when the are little so that limits a bit as well.
Wish there was a try them all track place like in the 'Shopaholic having a baby' fancy a go at that!
So much choice. I did like Cosatto but read that they had issues with collapsing. If like my baby in one piece over anything else!

Cannotbelieveit · 18/02/2014 22:13

Maxi cosi pebble or cabriofix? Both fit oysters with adapters and the pram part and stroller can face towards or away from parents

It folds up and fits in MiL's Toyota yaris easily! If you can get to a kiddicare they have a massive selection and you can have a go with anything Grin

ColdCottage · 18/02/2014 22:23

Thanks for the tip, will look that up.

Think it is a cabriofix.

Cannotbelieveit · 18/02/2014 22:49

Maxi cosi seats fit loads of travel systems I'm just biased as I have the oyster and love it!

What's your budget?

ColdCottage · 18/02/2014 22:57

Not a lot but hoping to get second hand or parents+in-laws to treat us. Up to £300 if they are buying I guess.

Cannotbelieveit · 18/02/2014 23:02

oyster £249

smilesallround247 · 19/02/2014 16:56

Sorry if I've asked this before but can a nurse practioner sign me off work or does it have to be a gp?

Trinpy · 19/02/2014 17:56

I think it has to be your gp smiles.

Hi to Cold. I think it's worth getting travel system before baby is born if you have an idea of the kind of thing you'll need. Agree with the advice of going to mothercare or similar to try a few out. Even better I'd you have a pram shop nearby.

Speaking of travel systems...PiL kindly bought us one back in November. They live abroad so bought it in their country (it's some obscure foreign brand I've never heard of) and FiL brought it over at the weekend. Well, it's massive. Really, really huge. I'm a bit embarrassed to take it out as I'm probably going to run the other pedestrians off the footpath Blush . God only knows how I'm going to get it on the bus. At least the baby will be nice and comfy!
