Good luck Marlena. You'll get your maternity notes, yippee!

CleverOl10 · 12/11/2013 11:09

Urgh. First actual morning sickness on a work day. Still haven't told anyone at work so just have to get on with it. So not in the mood for teenage boys though! Roll on 12 weeks so I can tell everyone and have an excuse for looking grumpy at my desk!

MarlenaGru · 12/11/2013 11:29

clever you are my hero. I can barely cope with adults when I feel like this. Snappy, grumpy and short with everyone! My poor colleagues don't know who I am and what I have done with the happy Marlena!

In the waiting room. Clearly a newborn clinic on too as so many teeny babies crying!

livingzuid · 12/11/2013 11:29

Hi all :) not sure how I haven't found this thread before! I am 11 weeks today. It reckons I am due 4th June but I have long cycles so am sure I am a bit later than that.

I have a 3rd scan in two weeks. First was fine and the second bizarre so I am just hanging on in there :) I'm high risk pregnancy so fortunately my care got transferred to a specialist hospital. I have the worst morning sickness. It has turned into a rampaging beast and since Friday I have been vomiting all day long. Late evenings tend to be a bit better. And I crave cold oranges! Nicely chopped up!

Off work again today, I had to tell them what the deal was but they have been great. Heading to my gp this afternoon to beg for a magic pill to make this sickness go away. I have been able to do nothing round the house apart from lie tragically on the sofa. It was so good to read this thread and see that it is not just me.

Will this sickness be over soon? I can deal with the tired and the ridiculous boobs and the strange sensations in my lower abdomen but this is hard. Today feels like the worst hangover ever I am lying in bed with work clothes on because I can't get up to change. I did make an attempt at going in! Sorry for moan hope you are all doing well!

jaykay987 · 12/11/2013 11:57

Sick that's all exciting. I wish I knew someone locally....hoping my mat leave isn't too lonely! Smile
I also get those hips pains. Very sore.

Liquidambar · 12/11/2013 11:57

I have been drinking a cup of tea every hour but this means I need to go to the loo every 40 minutes max! ! Shock Can't hold it more than that. My colleague must think there's something seriously wrong with me or that I'm just avoiding doing my work.

LadyGoneGaga · 12/11/2013 12:33

Jaykay will you do NCT classes? Great way of meeting people so you have some mates to hang out with on maternity leave. Or last time I didn't do NCT as was my second but stayed in contcat with loads of people I met at pregnancy yoga classes. It really is a godsend having a group of people who understand what you are going through. Baby classes are great too to get you out of the house and talking to people.

Welcome Livingzuid, what was the issue with your scan?

I think I might have to admit defeat and get the non-wired bras back out soon. Current ones are being overwhelmed. Still in my skinny jeans although they are becoming increasingly snug!

NessieMcFessie · 12/11/2013 12:37

Anyone got some advice please? I have had DD's stomach flu for 6 days now - pretty bad diarrhoea (sorry TMI). I phoned my doctor today and she said that I should take Imodium. Having googled this I can see lots of 'no way' and only a few 'I did and it was fine'.......anyone got any direct experience? I am desperate to get back to work and get over this but would hate to cause any problems Sad.

jaykay987 · 12/11/2013 12:57

lady yep I plan to do nct. We only moved here a few months ago - so I literally only know my DH within a 50mile radius!
I could do my trousers up today for the first time in three weeks. So clearly Ive lost some bloat. I guess I'll only get bigger from here in!
So perhaps your jeans will get more comfy before you have to swop out?!

nessy sorry I haven't got a clue. FX someone will be along shortly.

MarlenaGru · 12/11/2013 12:58

I wouldn't. Not because of pregnancy but because Imodium can make the runs last longer... Always feels better to let it all out!

Booking in was lovely. So many questions but the loveliest midwife.

livingzuid · 12/11/2013 13:12

Hi lady I had a scan at 6 weeks where thought they saw the heartbeat but couldn't confirm. Then went back a week later to see someone I can only politely refer to as a dumb bint who after declaring she couldn't see anything and waving the wand around which was really uncomfortable told me there was a pregnancy but she couldn't be sure it was a good one and to prepare for a miscarriage. I asked if there had been growth and she said no. So we went back the next day shocked and sad only to speak to a different gynae who looked at the report and scan which said there had been a bit of growth from the previous week and it was just too early to see anything. No mention of a bad pregnancy. They were confident there was a good chance of seeing something at 8 weeks. I remain totally confused as I have 100% pregnancy symptoms and no bleeds, no cramps, nothing! The symptoms have steadily gotten more intense. Just an awful lot of being sick and wishing I could sleep 24/7 :) dreaming of eating a decent meal again ooh. So we are taking it as a good sign till I get my scan at a specialist unit. Needless to say I am not going back to that other place. Hoping to get my midwife this week as well fingers crossed. I live in the Netherlands and the care is excellent on the whole but they can be a bit medieval in not giving out anything and leaving the body to do what it will. Which makes sense but it's nerve wracking particularly after a mc sigh.

Anyway off to the gp now to bg for some anti sickness medicine. Then a nap!

Liquidambar · 12/11/2013 13:15

nessie I used to take imodium before. But after getting pregnant my gp precribed codeine insted of imodium. could you give them a call a ask for it instead of imodium?

LadyGoneGaga · 12/11/2013 13:21

That sounds very stressful, Livingzuid. I hope you get some reassurance soon.

Jaykay I'm expecting to "pop" out quite soon as it's number 3. Had a definite bump by 10 weeks last time as collegaue at work guessed. But I am seem bit less bloated this time round. We will see.

Glad you're booking went well, Marlena. Is she the midwife you're going to be seeing throughout?

MarlenaGru · 12/11/2013 13:26

I don't know lady she seemed to imply she would be, but last time I never saw the same one twice, but am at a different hospital this time. Would be nice to have continuity. It would be so nice to know the midwife who attends you at birth. Last time I had an agency midwife (who was lovely) and then the midwife from hell after her.

CleverOl10 · 12/11/2013 13:43

Glad to hear booking in was good Marlena.

Struggling to get my 5 a day at the moment. Fruit and veg just isn't stodgy enough. So far today my efforts include applet juice and tomato ketchup (!) Confused

BEEwitched · 12/11/2013 15:36

Oh god, I feel so sick today. Woke up with a fierce headache that had refused to go away and every little thing makes me heavy, I'm like Lily from How I met your mother, making velociraptor noises.

Surely this must end soon?

MarlenaGru · 12/11/2013 15:59

Thanks clever

Midwife told me to eat when I feel ill and pretty much all the time and worry about turning into an elephant after 12 weeks so I am taking the advice. It really does help if I don't get hungry. Although fruit gives me the worst heartburn so it is all unhealthy stuff here Hmm

SicknSpan · 12/11/2013 16:57

Livingzuid welcome. Sorry you are suffering. There is a thread here in the pregnancy section for anyone struggling with bad nausea and sickness in pregnancy - there are a few of us June bugs on it (waves to Bezza, RaRa, Handbags and still knows she's missed a couple, sorry ladies- Hope all is well)

We even have another Netherlands based MNer on the thread so you'll be in good company- do come and say hello, we might be able to hold your hand thought the worst of it. If you have been diagnosed as having Hyperemesis Gravidarum it's so much worse than "just" morning sickness (and I say "just" because the nausea alone is so debilitating so I feel empathy with anyone who's had even a fleeting moments sicky feeling, it's horrible) and we understand what it's like.

wispaxmas · 12/11/2013 17:05

Oh my god, guys. The maternity jeans I ordered arrived today. They're only demi-panel, as I figured full panel could wait until I have a massive bump, but oh my god they are the most comfortable thing ever. I'm never wearing normal jeans again!

livingzuid · 12/11/2013 17:17

Thanks sick and Lady, I blubbed all over my lovely gp (I cry at everything at the moment!) who was baffled as to why this hospital felt the need to perpetually scan me so early and reassured me that seeing not an awful lot at 7 weeks is incredibly common! Also that I should not have been told what I was told. Coupled with my symptoms and lack of any bad signs he told me to not worry and relax until my next scan. And the blessed man gave me anti sick drugs which is the best thing of all yay :)

Waving at the other nederlander - I'm British but my husband is Dutch. I moved for love, the things we ladies do :)

Ooh maternity wear! Those jeans sound fab where did you get them? There is another lady at work who is six months preggo and struggling to find anything decent here. I sent her links to mamas and papas, next, Debenhams and HoF and I think top shop. Where else is good for online delivery? She loved mamas and papas!

livingzuid · 12/11/2013 17:23

And I will check out the thread thank you. So far so good with chocolate digestives (??? I normally hate them) and a lemon and ginger tea but if it keeps up I have to go into hospital day after tomorrow they said. I need to try the drugs first. It is horrendous and I hate not being able to work or have a life but in a way good because I am so busy feeling shit I haven't got time to worry about the pregnancy!

Magpie78 · 12/11/2013 17:28

Hello everyone back from the midwife and have 12 week scan next Wednesday! Eeek!

wispaxmas · 12/11/2013 17:34

I got them from the gap. They had a one day 25% off everything sale, so I bought 2 pairs of jeans and a few t-shirts.

cheesysmile · 12/11/2013 17:57

Welcome livingzuid! Hope your next scan goes much better for you.

Wispa those jeans sound fab, my tummy is soooo bloated and I've put on about half a stone already Shock From what I've read that seems alot and I know its coz im eating too much but so hungry all the time and like Marlena said I feel much better when nor hungry. How are others doing weight wise? This is my first and im worried im going to get too big if have put on so much already and only 10+3 today.
