Ugh I just had an Indian takeaway and reeeally wish I hadn't... I'm getting no pleasure at all from food at the moment Sad

MarlenaGru · 11/11/2013 20:25

Sad super
My DH is being a saint. My DD is still awake nearly 2 hours after I put her to bed. Angry and I just don't have the energy to run up and down the stairs tonight. Praying this one so a sleeper!

hackneybird · 11/11/2013 20:26

Penguin I'm also waiting for pasta bolognese for tea.....mmm.

All I want to eat at the mo is eggs and carbs. And chocolate. Oh, and crips. And digestives spread with Philadelphia. I could go on......

I think that this early pregnancy lark is the hardest thing I have ever done. Last time I didn't have a child to look after as well. I'm never, ever doing it again if this one makes it out safely.

All you SAHM looking after small ones are legends, at least I get to go to work and sit at a desk in relative peace all day.

hackneybird · 11/11/2013 20:27

Btw welcome to all the new members!

S1mmy · 11/11/2013 20:32

Awww can i be added onto the babies list??? Mine is due june 10th.

Ditto some of you here, my symptoms are going and sometimes i forget i am pregnant.... Then i look down and see my belly. Am convinced its just food. Had my checking in last week, it all went fine (apart from my wierd disagreement with nurse about my nationality! Grr!) I didnt get a scan date though, will wait for them to call me.

How are you all coping at work? Tired? Sick?

I thought i would feel tired but its all ok so far. Tired at the end of the day and disappointed that men generally are too stupid or shy to be bocal about giving a pregnant lady a seat on the tube. Like its embarassing to be chivaralous or something. Shame on them.

ohcluttergotme · 11/11/2013 21:24

HackneyBird, I feel the opposite as you. I feel if only I was a SAHM then I could just about cope with feeling so horrendous.
I think it's thinking of work that makes my horrible symptoms worse.
This is my 3rd and I've never felt so bad in my life.
Off to try and et a good nights sleep, know if I wasn't working in the morning wouldn't feel so uptight about it.
Googled a lot of stuff about Benadryl and Antihistamine when pregnant Wispa and undecided whether or not to give it a try. Will try a few more nights with warm milk, banana, paracetamol. Dh has downloaded me some relaxing music so may resort to that if insomnia hits at silly o'clock.
Fx for restful sleep for everyone. Smile

seatfor5 · 11/11/2013 21:43

I would really advise against taking Benadryl as its main ingredient is diphenhydramine which can might increase your risk of the baby having a cleft palate (which develops early in pregnancy) and then a type of blindness later on!

it is rated as a type B drug in the US which means not tested fully

I dont want to scare anyone but also dont want anyone to think that the affects can be minor

seatfor5 · 11/11/2013 21:44

Benadryl link

wispaxmas · 11/11/2013 22:09

It's interesting that different doctors will suggest different things. My GP said it was fine to take benadryl, either for allergies or to help with sleep. She said that there was no evidence to suggest that it's dangerous and that it's fairly widely used in pregnancy. The NHS page for benadryl just says that you should ask your doctor before taking it. Googling the cleft palate stuff, it would seem that the stats weren't conclusive and the evidence is from studies that are 40 years old, and a study in 1997 of 200,000 pregnancies showed no increased incidence of any abnormalities (i.e. cleft palate), and there's a good abstract on motherisk.org from Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

Motherrisk is actually a pretty great resource if you're interested in knowing what kinds of studies have been done on drugs during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and there's loads of other info on there, too.

seatfor5 · 11/11/2013 22:25

thats so good to know as my Doctor who had said the same so i had taken it twice last week, then of course i continued to researched it and then scared the Sh*t out of myself Blush Not sure I will take it again though

wispaxmas · 11/11/2013 22:31

Googling these things can be the worst thing ever. It can be nearly impossible to sift out the good info from the bad. I'm inclined to trust my doctor and motherisk on this one, though, as motherisk is a resource specifically about pregnancy and breastfeeding, with thousands of published studies done in a world class children's hospital (butt hen, I'm biased as they saved my life as a toddler!).

I would definitely suggest seeking advice from your midwife or GP before taking any over the counter medication, though, which is why I earlier said not to necessarily trust info from a stranger on a forum as gospel (I.e. From me).

seatfor5 · 11/11/2013 22:54

You know this is my 4th go on the merry-go-around and it doesn't get any easier to deal with the what if's and maybe's! For me its a count down to the 12 week scan, then the 16 weeks scan (gender), 20 weeks then the golden 23 weeks - every time its such a relief to make it there, as I always think right that's it they will try their best to save you! should say all of my 3 were born at 38 weeks all perfect :) doesn't make the worry any less.

MORNING ALLSmile

OP posts:
cheesysmile · 12/11/2013 08:00

Morning!

I'm off to work again today, have had a shower, now just need to actually get dressed. I feel a lot better than yesterday but could so just go back to sleep now.

superlambanana · 12/11/2013 08:01

Morning! I am going to try to get to work today. Wish me luck...

Liquidambar · 12/11/2013 08:22

Good morning all.
Good luck for those trying to get yo work.

Since I'm not doing any exercise I decided to walk into work this morning. It's half an hour walk and it is a beautiful morning. Made me realise how unfit I'm! starting yoga in a couple of weeks but definitely should walk more regularly.
9 weeks today Smile

GinandStripes · 12/11/2013 08:32

9+1 today, 8:30am and I've already eaten TWO Danish pastries. Apparently one was for me and the other was for the baby.

I've got the morning off, so planning on having a lovely big stroll (once the rain clears)

Emmazers · 12/11/2013 09:00

I've had so much dodgy advice from GPs that I wouldn't trust much of what they say to be honest! I always do my own research as I am confident in being able to judge the quality (and quantity) of the data.

Whoever recommend vit B6, I might just love you! I started taking it a couple of days ago and haven't felt nauseated since. Apparently it doesn't work on everyone but it seems I am one if the fortunate and VERY grateful Grin Grin Grin

Me and DD just spent the night with a friend from our NCT classes last time who has a 3 week old, a husband working nights and just started having (hormone-caused) panic attacks! She didn't want to be on her own so sleepover time for us. Very much enjoyed cuddles with the squish Smile

superlambanana · 12/11/2013 09:03

Ooh Emmazers I might try the B6!

Not left the house yet. Almost managed to get dressed before my breakfast reappeared... Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy about the prospect of SuperBaby, but this pregnancy lark is blooming hard work!!

GinandStripes · 12/11/2013 09:41

I'm really like this Tuesday malarky! Call from my Docs, apparently with the Royal London I see the midwife with them first. So have an appointment Thursday morning - the wheels are in motion. Smile

hackneybird · 12/11/2013 09:46

Morning!

I've been taking floradix which has helped. I still feel drained and tired, but marginally better than I did before. I ran out at the weekend and definitely noticed the difference before I managed to replace it.

SicknSpan · 12/11/2013 10:11

Morning all.

S1mmy think you might have to cut and paste the list then add yourself on - think many of us are using phones which means we can't select the text in previous posts. Sorry.

Had more good news last night- another close friend is expecting. This is their third too like us, we've been gossiping loads and so been getting regular updates on her cycle- no tmi between besties! i knew she was due on roundabout now so text to ask if she had tested yet - reply came back that the pee was drying on a positive test that very minute. so excited, her first and second child are only a few weeks apart and this will be the same, as well as our other mutual friend who has been trying for ages and finally past the 12 week stage for the first time - I am stupidly excited! We will all be on maternity leave together, yay!

Other pregnancy ramblings- is anyone else getting achey hips in the night? know it's just of stretching etc going on but it doesn't half hurt. sleeping with a big pillow between my knees really helped last night. But ouch.

SicknSpan · 12/11/2013 10:18

Of course that's their first and our second. Too confusing otherwise! Soz.

MarlenaGru · 12/11/2013 10:23

I am WFH today (amazing how much of a difference it makes to my productivity not having to get a bloody train!) and have my booking in appointment at 11:30! Very excited!

MarlenaGru · 12/11/2013 10:24

That is lovely sick
All of my friends have had their second years ago so think maternity leave will be lonely next year in comparison although a few work part time so hopefully can add a bit of newborn chaos to their lives next year!
