Magpie, just saw your post, I'm glad you were ablr to have a good talk! I'm glad he's opened up a bit.

MTMD · 16/11/2013 11:24

Arrgg date of party changed, now seeing everyone a week before the scan so can't tell! Will have to find a way to hide my 12 week bump in smth nice :/

wispaxmas · 16/11/2013 13:13

Ooh, cinnamon buns... Mmm, they're a Christmas staple in my family, can't wait to have them. Probably won't until christmas, but I'm already looking forward to it!

Magpie I'm glad you had a talk. Keep on him, though. Sure, he's freaked out about it all, but he needs to make the effort to get used to it and excited along with you and be supportive, because it takes a village and all that.

I'm working for the first time in over a month tomorrow, and I'm excited! It's an excuse to get a Starbucks gingerbread latte, and I love getting to spend the day in my favourite place on earth (the British Museum).

Magpie78 · 16/11/2013 13:17

Now I want a cinnamon bun and a gingerbread latte......

GillyBillyWilly · 16/11/2013 14:04

Oh my god I just sat down in Starbucks with a cinnamon swirl and then read the last posts! Coincidence! Grin
Mmm cinnamon swirl...

3 women behind me talking about pregnancy... Overheard one saying she's just had her 12 week scan and the other one was saying hers is a few weeks away.
I looked over and said "oooh sorry to interrupt... I'm pregnant too! My scan is on Wednesday!"

Then realised the other woman was crying and said she's feeling sad cos everyone around her is pregnant and she's not!
Now I'm feeling TERRIBLE and awkward cos she's sat there with tears in her eyes Sad

wispaxmas · 16/11/2013 14:45

Ooh, I can get a cinnamon swirl tomorrow, too! Sorted!

Penguin13 · 16/11/2013 15:49

Thanks for the cinnamon bun craving!

Glad to hear you were able to have a good talk Magpie. That sounds really positive.

My scan is in 6 days now and I really need to step away from the Google. Been driving myself nuts worrying about not feeling pregnant any more and every other thread has me hopeful/despairing. Anyone else terrified about their scan? I'm one of the few who hasn't had an early scan so my one at 13 weeks will be my first.

jaykay987 · 16/11/2013 16:06

Hehe Gilly - are you in central London?? How forward of you! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Don't feel bad, it's nice you're excited! Im bursting to tell people! Id have done the same. The optician got told with glee this morning!

So far the only people we've told are gp, midwife, chiropractor, optician, consultant at hospital. Can't wait to tell 'real' people! Grin

GillyBillyWilly · 16/11/2013 16:08

Haha yes I am in Central London!
Well they had glanced over at me and smiled a few times and acknowledged the fact I was wearing a baby on board badge so i felt like they were inviting me into their conversation!
Then the other woman started to cry!
I felt terrible!!!!!!!!!!

wispaxmas · 16/11/2013 16:08

I was a teeny bit scared, but tried to put it out of my mind. I have been reading tons on nuchal translucency thickness since, though. The sonographer didn't really give me a good indication of what she saw. I didn't think to ask what the thickness meant when I was there, but I'm quite relieved to see it was small to median thickness for baby's crown rump length. 46.5mm CRL, 1.1mm NT thickness, and nasal bone was seen, so even without the blood results, I think we're looking at low risk (FX!)

GillyBillyWilly · 16/11/2013 16:09

Yay wispa! Sounds like a good result cant wait til Wednesday but also getting increasingly anxious as time goes on!

OP posts:
wispaxmas · 16/11/2013 16:11

Actually, I really need to add that my sonographer was a bit of a bitch.. Quite rude, unresponsive, and when she told us we had to pay £3 per photo and we asked her where we could get change for a fiver she just shrugged! The woman at the reception desk for ultrasounds smiled when we asked and gave us direction and was completely different. And the midwife who took the bloods was so much nicer! I was a bit put off by the sonographer, though.

MinaLeeds · 16/11/2013 16:40

Hello!

My name is Mina & I'm due on the 14th of June. This is my first pregnancy and I'm excited and nervous in equal parts. Morning sickness for me has mostly consisted of feeling kinda nauseous every evening, going off foods that I normally love (e.g. Risotto) and getting insane cravings for fruit. Went shopping today and came home with 12 punnets of blueberries. I am a human fruit bat.

My first meeting with the midwife is on the 18th but I don't know when the scan will be. Looking forward to meeting the blob!

Magpie78 · 16/11/2013 17:01

Hi Mina welcome! At least fruit is healthy and not crisps lol! Penguin when I saw midwife Wednesday I asked her about disappearing symptoms and she said that was normal now as the placenta takes over. I am anxious but excited at the same time, it seems as soon as you stop being anxious about one thing there is another!

Bumblebeesmum · 16/11/2013 17:27

Usually they tell you about paying for scan pictures in the appointment letter & that they can't give change? Bad that they didn't warn you - I never have cash on me!

Magpie I'm pleased you had a heart to heart - it really is a big deal for men too & I think they can feel a bit of a spare part & not sure how to react. In fact men can even get serious post natal depression that can go untreated because they feel they're not allowed to struggle (obv not relevant to you but you know what I mean)

Gilly if the lady's struggling with not conceiving a newborn would prob have made her well up just as much as another bump - don't feel guilty

Exciting hearing about scans - as I'm due the end of June it's like I'm watching my future on this thread!! :)

NessieMcFessie · 16/11/2013 18:00

Oh Gilly you weren't to know, it is not your fault...the poor woman.....

Welcome Mina - nice craving!

Am super excited because I just ate a meal - for the first time in 10 days! I think (touch wood, fingers crossed etc) that the stomach flu has gone and I am back to just plain old morning sickness (which feels GREAT now!)

Just been told that I need to leave the country next week - just for a few hours, and then come back. I need to pick a destination....any good airports to spend the day at?!

GillyBillyWilly · 16/11/2013 18:24

Errrr Nessie... Why do you need to leave the country for a few hours?!!!? Grin

OP posts:
MinaLeeds · 16/11/2013 18:38

I assume for visa reasons? Why not make a weekend of it? Stay a night and have a mini babymoon. You can find gorgeous cheap places to stay on airbnb.com and enjoy yourself. I found a place through there when I went to Lisbon for a conference (which was divine by the way...Lisbon not the conference). If you have to pay for a flight anyway... Smile

MarlenaGru · 16/11/2013 18:43

Argh. Hormones! I can't actually watch children in need for the sobbing. I am going to look a picture tomorrow.

Hmmm nice airports... Are you in London? There are good Eurostar ticket offers at the moment and then you could have a few hours in Paris! I love Italy but not sure I loved the airports... Geneva airport is horrible...

Cherryjellybean · 16/11/2013 18:45

sick and super I've been given avomine ( promethazine teoclate) its a travel sickness tablet. It makes me extra tired, but I would choose that over sickness!

My auntie guessed i was pregnant today in front of my mum, so they both know. I so wanted to wait till Christmas!

Well done nessie on eating! You could have a nice day shopping trip in a city :)

CleverOl10 · 16/11/2013 19:47

Told all DHs family today. They're so excited but it's strange chatting about it with real people!!!!

Also told DS who reacted pretty well. He has decided it will be a boy (o-oh!) so I asked him what we should call him and without even hesitating he said "Tank". Don't think I'll be enlisting his help in name selection! Grin

NessieMcFessie · 16/11/2013 19:57

Yeah - a visa trip.....and as much as I love the babymoon idea......I am not paying so I go where I am told! No doubt I will end up in some tiny shed of an airport for 12 hours Smile

MyNameIsWinkly · 16/11/2013 19:59

Why not hop on the eurostar to lille and go shopping? Cheap and a pleasant way to pass a day (assuming you're in the south east.)

NessieMcFessie · 16/11/2013 20:00

I suggested Rome, Paris, London.....and then was told I don't get to pick!
