Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ohcluttergotme · 15/11/2013 19:41

Hi Mica, I think my nauseous feelings are easing up. Before it was absolutely everything that was making me feel sick and in the last 2 days I have been able to smell things without constantly thinking I'm going to throw up.
Jaykay, we have told both sets if parents as got a new, bigger car and went to show them car and said it'll be good for our pram! We then saw dh's 2 brothers, sister and partners at family thing so told them. My brother sis-in law are in Saudi so we skyped them. My aunt phoned last night so I told her.
I've also told my work and manager due to feeling so sick and having to leave work twice and my manager actually guessed, she did used to be a midwife!
We've told teenage dd but not ds (4) yet but have been trying to plant the seed!
I also went out for meal with 3 friends last week and my good friend knew as we have been trying at same time and so told the other 2.
I know we've told way more than some but they are all mainly close family who I would confide in if things not good.
I am amazed at everyone who can keep it under wraps for 12 weeks. This is my third and I have a definite little bump Smile

ohcluttergotme · 15/11/2013 19:43

Vicky your bounty pack sounds much better than the one I got, must be cuts in NHS Lothian! Smile

CleverOl10 · 15/11/2013 20:14

They'd run out of Bounty packs at my booking appt Sad

wispaxmas · 15/11/2013 20:16

My bounty pack was rubbish!! Only freebies I got were tea and even seas vitamins, which I neither like nor need! The rest was all ads and junk :(

wispaxmas · 15/11/2013 20:22

Micasa, my sickness peaked at 8 wks and was gone by 9!

MTMD · 15/11/2013 20:25

Re telling family. I wanted to wait till Christmas but not sure we'll wait that long. Firstly because we're seeing loads of friends and dh's siblings the day after the scan and secondly because I already have a bump despite loosing 3kg since bfp.., I just hope the baby is ok... it's scary being nearly 10 weeks and not really knowing what's going on in that bump!!! 3 weeks till first scan....

So sick I cannot brush my teeth or take preg vitamins as both make me gag :( Nearly sleep time!

Congrats Wispa!!

WifeofGru · 15/11/2013 21:03

Wow that does sound a much better haul of goodies from the Bounty pack than I ever had with my DDs!
Re. dating scans, due date has always been calculated at 12 weeks scan for my two children, and I know a couple of obstetric ultrasonographers who tell me that the date is never adjusted after that in Glasgow NHS. They have come across patients trying to alter the date written in their notes!! I was Shock but apparently some women have tried to alter the date to make the pregnancy fit with a particular partner Hmm. Growth is most standardised in the first trimester so dating at 20 weeks will be less accurate.

WifeofGru · 15/11/2013 21:04

COngrats on lovely scan wispa

highlandfling10 · 15/11/2013 21:46

Hi ladies
I haven’t been on for ages, soooo lovely to read about yous starting to tell people, 12wk scans finally coming up AND the dreaded morning sickness is starting to subside!!

I had MS from day 1 it peaked about 8-10wks and has subsided over the last week (I’m 12wks on Sunday) – amazing how quickly it went as I had been feeling hungover to hell all day – pretty much every day, then all of a sudden it stopped! So ladies who still have it the end is in sight!

My scan is on Thursday at 9am – We have told our parents and I told my boss as he’s just gone off on hols for 3 weeks, we’ll tell the rest the day of the scan.
Exciting stuff! Grin

Bezzabelle · 15/11/2013 22:31

Super- it clearly states on nhs pregnancy pages (which in our area has replaced the purple pregnancy book) that Stilton is safe to eat in pregnancy. So once my sickness subsides, I will be eating it!!

Everyone knows I am pregnant as been off work for 6 weeks and am never sick apart from when I had ds so everyone has guessed. Also been a hermit and had to cancel lots of social events so friends guessed straight away. Now got a definite bump as second time round.

superlambanana · 15/11/2013 22:50

That's good bezzabelle - thanks! Smile

I feel I need a bounty pack to lighten my day after spending half of it hugging the toilet bowl. Maybe I should suggest it to the midwife Grin

Emmazers · 15/11/2013 23:58

I've told pretty much everyone when I've seen or spoken to them. I can't keep my own secrets for toffee!

Feeling loads better today but highly confused as I'm only 8+2 and it went on for about 20 weeks with DD. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come and not just a blip.

Wispa I'm going to be in Paris to see my cousin's art exhibition at the end of this month. If you're at a loose end we should have a mini-meet Smile

MarlenaGru · 16/11/2013 08:02

I have also told more people than I wanted to! I am sure many more have guessed from my lack of tea and coffee at work!
We've told parents, my sister, and close friends who have stayed over recently (I am so much less my usual sociable self so it is pretty obvious!)

Magpie78 · 16/11/2013 08:39

Morning all! wispa lovely little picture! made me smile. Thank you for all your advice and support I really appreciate you all being there and made me feel much less alone. Long conversation last night and I was very resolute which is unlike me! Transpires he is freaking out about everything, this was not planned and I had always been told that the odds of conceiving naturally were v low so was a happy shock, told him he was being an asshole and he agreed, also said that if this not what he wants he can walk away and he said he wants all of it but is struggling to wrap his head around head. I am hoping that things might be better now he has opened up, but we'll see I suppose.
Thanks to all of you again, I hope you are all having good mornings, excited about all the scans we have gilly am Wednesday too at 1pm Thanks Cake

bee024 · 16/11/2013 08:46

Glad to hear things are looking a bit more positive for you Magpie. Have been thinking of you. X

CleverOl10 · 16/11/2013 08:52

I'm just amazed that I've made it past 10 weeks and not told anyone! So not like me! But we were determined to tell DS first and let him tell people to try to include him. He hasn't woken up in the best mood though so giving it a few more hours to cheer him up first! 3 year olds never fit in with your plans!

cheesysmile · 16/11/2013 09:03

Morning all! Glad some of you are starting to feel better. I'm not sick but had a massive headache yesterday and generally still have a head cold which is really starting to annoy me now after a week and a half.

Magpie glad you had a good talk, hope things get better now for you.

Wispa what an awesome scan picture. I was feeling so rubbish yesterday but that put a smile on my face Smile

SicknSpan · 16/11/2013 09:07

magpie so glad that you've started to talk to each other and try and iron things out.

Magpie78 · 16/11/2013 09:08

Thank you ladies! So glad I have this group!!

hackneybird · 16/11/2013 09:32

Magpie I am very pleased you and your partner are able to talk it through and he's being honest with you. I know a couple of 'surprise' or 'reluctant' dads and now their children are here they are so devoted and hands on.

Good for you for standing up for yourself and being firm.

I have only told 2 close friends. One because we had a long arranged night out and I had to explain why I wasn't up for a big night and the other because we're going to a wedding together.

I've had a couple of miscarriages in the past so it's just much easier to keep it quiet until we feel confident all is well.

10 week scan on Mon!

CleverOl10 · 16/11/2013 09:43

Urgh my DH has just cooked himself a fry up. Definitely a good reason to stay hidden in bed. The smell is making me queasy Sad

Liquidambar · 16/11/2013 09:48

good morning everyone.
glad you had a nice conversation mag. hopefully this shock phase will end and he will embrace parenthood.

I'm making cinnamon buns. we were given a Thermomix and I hsve been finding all these nice and easy recipes.

hope everyone will have a great weekend.

Magpie78 · 16/11/2013 10:02

Mmmmmm cinnamon buns....send one through the iPad!

littlepickly · 16/11/2013 11:06

Fab scan pic Wispa!! How exciting! I'm hoping to have my date in the post soon.

Magpie glad to hear things are better - sounds like you did the right thing and well done for telling him straight.

Starting to feel excited now 12 week scans are starting for everyone - seeing midwife made it very real this week.

We've told close family and close friends - I'm a bit rubbish at keeping it secret from closest friends, will be nice to speak freely about it in a couple of weeks tho! Smile

BEEwitched · 16/11/2013 11:14

I have the Mumsnet book and two German pregnancy books, one written by obgyns and one by midwives. Haven't looked properly at the NHS one yet, in the waiting room for booking it was mainly the dads reading it. I didn't get Emma's diary, thankfully enough.

Does anyone else get carsick? My husband's lucky if I dint ruin his car.
