Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Winkly I work on a technical help desk.
We are 24/7 because the people that use our services are mostly military and government and if they can't use our services they could potentially be in serious danger so we have to be there all the time Blush

We are a small team and usually when we do a shift it's just one of us by ourselves.

My boss was happy to take me off shift because if there's days when I'm late to work for whatever reason (morning sickness for example), the night shift worker would need to stay in work until the 9-5 management team and other support team come in which means doing a 14 hour night shift! (We work 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am days and nights)

Also if I was working a day shift then had to leave for whatever reason or had an appointment and could only do a half day, they would need to get someone else to come into work on their day off to cover me.

It's basically a lot easier for management, the team, and me(!) this way because they aren't DEPENDING on me to be there at certain times to take over from people.

Plus my doctor just wasn't happy with me waking up at 5am to get to work for 7am and not getting home til gone 8pm! And she also said she doesn't think nights are good either.

So I'm pleased... I'm doing Monday to Friday 10-6 and it works well for the team in work as well as they now always have at least 2 people in during the day - me and a shift worker Smile

I've lost my shift allowance but I'm not fussed. I'm much happier and getting the sleep I need... Waking up at a normal time and getting home at a normal time!

Just realised how long this post is Grin

Hey lovely Ladies,

First midwife appointment today, hopefully this means a scan date is just around the corner.

MarlenaGru · 14/11/2013 08:14

Enjoy gin
Why isn't it Friday yet? Envy

MTMD · 14/11/2013 08:17

winkly Water makes me sick too. I squeeze some lemon in to make it more palatable.

ohcluttergotme · 14/11/2013 08:21

Just checking in to say morning. Good luck with those with appointments today.
Hope those feeling unwell feeling a little better today.
I've been working all week and exhausted doesn't cut it. Stupidly said I would do extra 4 hours at work as so short, 2 hours today and tomorrow when ds is at nursery. So instead of being finished up til Monday now ready to go into work.
My ds (4) was with his Granny yesterday who gave him Argos catalogue and now is asking for everything single thing in it!!
Going to throw him and Argos catalogue out!
Wishing everyone well today Smile

Bezzabelle · 14/11/2013 08:24

Gilly, I have to wait till 14.45 for mine! But probably a good thing as I'm terrible in the morning so would probably vomit on the sonographer if early scan! Have appt with consultant at 8.50 tomorrow morning and dreading being up and dressed and...gulp...in the car for that time. Sick bucket at the ready.....

bee024 · 14/11/2013 08:28

Put on my maternity jeans today and looked huge! Can't believe how quickly I have got a bump this time round. Going to see Mum & Dad today and will finally be able to tell them, but I may as well just walk in with a big sign around my neck!

KatAndKit · 14/11/2013 08:28

winks try PLJ in your water. You find it in the squash area, but it is sharp, not sweet and saves you having to faff about slicing lemons. It is amazing as a hot drink. How long do you expect to carry on doing nights? Must be exhausting.

i have caved in and put on a pair of maternity trousers today. It is so nice not to have a belt on my belly rubbing my clexane bruises.

Liquidambar · 14/11/2013 08:54

Good morning everyone.

I'm at work since 8am but having some abdominal cramps and not feeling 100%. I might go home soon... and try to work from home.

Good luck for today's appointments.

Vickyvix · 14/11/2013 09:01

Good luck to those with appointments today, looking forward to updates later.

I'm also taking pregnacare (the max one because I figured it must be the best Hmm ) and apart from being a little less regular than normal it seems fine. I think that could be down to the beige diet as others have said though.

Booking in appt tomorrow :)

superlambanana · 14/11/2013 10:30

Just had booking appt. Midwife was absolutely lovely but sadly she won't be the one delivering as it's a different team in the hospital and also she's going on maternity leave herself in April! Did get me thinking about a home birth though which was something I hadn't considered.

Feeling awful still though and my blood pressure is so low she couldn't get any so I've now got to schlepp to the hospital and get them to do it. But concerned about throwing up on myself on the way there....

LadyGoneGaga · 14/11/2013 10:33

Managed a run today before work (first in over a week barring a short run-walk with DS). My goodness but it was hard work. Had to walk the hills to keep breathing under control. But I feel like maybe there are some green shoots of recovery coming in energy levels? I mean still not good but I actually managed to hoover and tidy a bit yesterday and a little run today? And I stayed up until 9:45 last night!!!! DH nearly fell off the sofa in shock as he's hardly seen me for three weeks.

Of course now I am wondering if there is something wrong. Please to slap with wet fish. I have started taking a Vit B complex, wondering if there is a connection? Nausea remaining omnipresent though.

Good luck for appointments and for Wispas scan. I am sooo jealous of those hitting 12 weeks.

MTMD · 14/11/2013 10:36

It's 10.30 and I already had pancakes with jam, then porridge and pain au chocolat. With this rate, I'll be the size of the elephant by the time baby is here :) But at least it stopped the dizziness.. for now!

KatAndKit · 14/11/2013 10:53

Its the iron in pregnacare that can cause constipation, alongside the fact that pregnancy causes constipation anyway. If you can eat more fruit and drink more water that may help. If not just take folic acid on its own. I get on better with Tesco own brand than pregnacare. No idea why they are probably the same, but i find pregnacare have a strange smell

GillyBillyWilly · 14/11/2013 11:17

Wispa this time tomorrow you would've had your scan!!!!!! Smile

OP posts:
superlambanana · 14/11/2013 11:42

Well done Lady! I wouldn't worry, mine seems to go up and down so I'm sure there's nothing wrong.

MTMD I am sitting at the train station eating giant chocolate buttons if that makes you feel better Blush

jaykay987 · 14/11/2013 12:19

so my constipation problem went completely the other way this morning. so bad I was late for work!

First day in a week I've managed to wake with crawling to the bathroom with nausea. On the flip side - ny face has ballooned! Looks like a chipmunk. Not a good look!

kittygirl33 · 14/11/2013 12:25

Well done on the run Lady! I've also been feeling a bit better this week and made it out for a decent run on Tuesday and also to spin class yesterday.... today though... I'm sitting at my desk eating. I'm also a bit worried about constipation (oh the joys of pregnancy) especially as I have IBS. I already have bad wind (sorry if tmi) and bloating so I think I might take some probiotics as they seem fairly safe in pregnancy?

I've also got my scan date through, it's on November 25 so not too long to wait.... just hoping that everything is ok. I will be so relieved to get to 12 weeks!

wispaxmas · 14/11/2013 12:34

I know, gilly Grin

I just got so angry/sad at a save the children advert. Sad, obviously because of the starving children, but angry because it's like the ad was preying on my hormones.

GillyBillyWilly · 14/11/2013 12:35

How are you feeling wispa? Excited?

Id like to say I feel excited about my scan next week but I'm just feeling scared!

OP posts:
wispaxmas · 14/11/2013 12:51

Excited, a bit anxious though. I've been fairly symptom free for 2 weeks, but I think I can feel the beginning of a bump under my belly fat...

GillyBillyWilly · 14/11/2013 12:56

Have they asked you to go with a full bladder? There was nothing on my letter about it but my sister said you have to have a full bladder...
However I just called my hospital and they said that's not necessary "nowadays"... Even though my sister is currently pregnant and they always ask her in advance to drink lots of water!

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 14/11/2013 13:06

I would go with a full bladder just in case, Gilly, you can always empty it if not. Just drink a pint of water about an hour before.

Well done on run and spinning, Kitty. I've got a trail 10k race on Sunday (entered pre-preg). Haha, I won't be racing it but will be quite nice to take part in a non-pressured event for once. Just need to swallow my pride and rein in my competitive spirit and start at the back!

BEEwitched · 14/11/2013 13:12

Good luck to all of you with scans!

I'm a bit jealous of those of you who had only one person to deal with for the booking in - I barely had time to breathe at mine and I'm nervous meting new people so was really uncomfortable at mine.
